I often go to this restaurant when volunteering for habitat for humanity and this location has great staff and friendly service

Great food and their open to feed us in a time like this. Couldn't ask for more great staff nice people.

After you order your food and when the cashier ask for your name. There's no point of it. They don't call your name when the food is ready and they give your food away to the closest person at the counter. My suggestion is when you order your food just go to the counter pick up the biggest bag and just walk out. They don't ask for your name or receipt and make sure it's yours. read more

While the food was fine, typical El Pollo Loco, this location was dirty. Disgustingly dirty. I walked in. Was pleasantly greeted by the counter staff. Placed my order. Paid. Then went to find a seat. It was 11:05 am so this was prior to any 'lunch rush'. There were 7 people total sitting in 3 spots. However, there was not ONE clean table. Several staff were standing around chatting. One even cleaned off a table in the corner and sat down to eat himself, but the other tables remained dirty. I don't know about you, but I find food scraps on tables and chairs unappetizing. The floors were dirty. Walls dirty. Flies buzzing around in the windows. The entire location needs several gallons of bleach and water and some time to clean it up. After the staff watched several customers clean off places to sit, one of them came out with a rag to wipe down some tables. This consisted of a damp rag. No spray bottle... Just a dirty, damp rag. The "cleaning" was half-assed. a couple of wipes, sending food crumbs and scraps flying about, eventually finding their way to the floor. Well, there goes my appetite. I had only finished half of my food, but if they treat the customer area with such blatant disregard, I can only imagine how the kitchen and food prep area are tended to. No thank you. I will not be back. There are numerous El Pollo Loco locations in the Simi, Moorpark area... I'll take my chances at those. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! If you have a major allergic reaction they WILL NOT TELL YOU what is in their chicken. I ate two bites of chicken and within minutes had to call 911. I had the worst reaction the paramedics, doctor or allergist has seen and yet these immoral people are more worried about their mediocre food recipe then preventing someone's possible death! And its corporate that will not give you the possible life saving ingredients. Please save yourself any possible reaction, fear and maybe death and eat somewhere else. Anywhere else. Tons of great Mexican food but this isn't it. PS. Isn't corporate capable of figuring out maybe I could sign a non disclosure agreement and give me the ingredient list and try to help another human being? read more

Avoid the salsas, specially Pico de Gallo. Terrible hygene. :/ This place will send you to the doctor in pain and with mad diarrhea.

So, after a lousy experience at El Pollo Loco on LA Ave a couple of days ago, I wrote a review on Yelp. I also went to their feedback website and filled out their form, describing everything. Just now, I received an email/yelp letter from El Pollo Loco customer service person, Melissa A., who says she's sorry about our experience, but would I go to their website and fill out a form! First of all, I already did, but REALLY, after someone has a crappy experience at your business, why would you ask them for a favor? How RUDE. Are you kidding me? I love Mexican food. That is a fact. This place is alright, but it's not gonna blow your socks off or anything. I had a chicken tamal, it was dry but okay (needed some salsa love) and a churro (can't mess those up). Very reasonably priced eats and fast order up too. I'd stop by again. read more

This place is pretty decent. I love the way the manager (a male) runs the place. I don't know if he's still working there since it's been like 6 months I haven't been here but I used to come here often when my friend worked here and I like the way he ran the kitchen and cashiers. He always rose his voice and acted silly. He always maintained everything organized and he greeted people and they came in and left. Great guy ! Other than that, it's pollo loco. What do we expect? Grilled chicken, yummy Mac and cheese, soft yummy mashed potatoes and delicious flan ! Oh and the salad with green dressing is delicious !! I really love pollo loco, but I actually love this one on Los Angeles Ave. My gym is near the Valley Produce and whenever I have time after the gym I like to go to pollo Loco and get some chicken Legs and breast. I really enjoy the food, which is healthy, and I also love the place. read more

I went to this location tonight, my boyfriend and I ordered a 12 peice family meal and chicken quesadilla... I get home, the quesadilla had NO CHEESE.. so I call and tell them and they were rude about it.. but I went back anyways to get my food because I was hungry and I get home again with the second quesadilla and the cheese is not melted whatsoever!!!!! I called AGAIN, and the lady was arguing with me saying that "they baked my quesadilla twice so the cheese should be melted" and insisted I ordered something else on the menu... I work in food service, I know how to treat customers and I know how I should be treated.. I get the same thing every time I go to here so I don't understand why they couldn't make it right this time... read more

Great place to eat! Always kept clean an tidy, they're good at making my picky order exactly how I asked, an if not which doesn't happen very often, they fix it right away an apologize! What can you expect when your as picky as I am about my food! I've eaten here probably 30 times this year an expect many more! Thanks for the great service folks! read more

I have always enjoyed EPL meals until my last visit. I decided to order a 3 pc meal and what a disappointment. When I arrived home to eat my chicken I found Cornish hen size pieces! The chicken pieces was very small and found myself hungry after the kid sized meal ! read more

Do not eat here if you have shellfish allergy! I ordered a bacon and chicken tostada, I received a shrimp and chicken tostada. I immediately took it back to the counter and explained I needed the right one and have a severe allergy. Several minutes later I received a "new" tostada. After eating several bites I found a piece of shrimp in the tostada and realized manager removed the shrimp and replaced it with bacon. Luckily I had my epi pen in my car but this is unacceptable and dangerous! read more

I have no complaints with the food, but I have had a couple of issues with service. Once I was with my husband and was given the incorrect change. $5 was missing. They denied the change was incorrect. We weren't too happy about it, but figured we would give the place another try and just use credit card. We ordered for pickup and when we came home with the food we noticed they got our order wrong. We called them and this time the manager corrected the order and gave us a free item, which was good, but I really didn't want to drive back there. Needless to say we did catering for a party and decided though to go with the other Simi Valley El Pollo Loco location instead. When you go here just make sure your change is correct before putting it in your pocket and make sure your order is correct before bringing your food home. read more

My wife had a severe allergic reaction to the food At El Pollo Loco. We called them to find out if we could get the ingredients to check to see what she might've been allergic to, and they refuse outright to disseminate that information. It seems as though it's more important for them to keep the ingredients for their mediocre chicken secret than it is to help save someone's life. I came in for one of their "Ultimate" new salads. Man was I happy and expecting my salad to come out with avocados, mango salsa and a ton of chicken as it was said to be "double". I did not look at it as I got a to go order. I went back to my office sitting with friends and opened the container. YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It had soggy lettuce, chicken yes but hard as rocks, where was the salsa and avocado? NO WHERE TO BE FOUND! It was gross, it was a $7.00 toss in the trash. My co-workers know where they will not go for salads. I called the manager of the store after I got off work to let her know the quality of her food needs help. She just ignored me and did not say a word. I had to "ask" if she was still on the line. It appears she was doing something else and did not address my concerns. If the food is presented in a picture and we expect the ingredients to be just that, then MAKE IT THAT WAY! I will never waste a dime on this place. read more
