Been coming here for 2 years . I remember when they had consistently great quality food & service . Although service efficiency has always been terrible. They are very slow if you order. I know it's fresh, but I know there's a better system to move the process faster. ( if the owner is seeing this, please respond & I'll happy help share my ideas as a customer & as a business owner my self). Time is money. Lots of times I've left because they are too slow at the drive thru, or they don't even say anything on the speaker. Feel like I'm talking to myself sometimes when I'm ordering food. I believe there's only 2 people running the entire kitchen plus register & taking care of customers. Most likely have always been understaffed & haven't figured out a simpler more efficient system. Always loved going here once a week when I got off work or just to eat dinner. After today's experience, I will unfortunately never be returning again. The taste was good but honestly the last two times I've bought food here, the burrito looks like a 1year old wrapped it. Not to be racist or hurtful but I'm a Canadian white dude & I can wrap the burritos wayyy better than This specific place. Never happy when I order a burrito, & due to the poor wrap Job, it must be eatin with a fork. I would of bought a bowl if I wanted to eat with a fork. Not sure if the employees all quite & there training new people, but honestly would not recommend this place any more to anyone. The owner & manager need to step up and take action to speed up there time management, perfect the food quality & food procedure to guarantee a quality service that's being provided. Especially at the prices they are charging. Gave two stars because like I said The taste was normally good, but have been unhappy about my food quality & service being provided. Especially at the price y'all are charging. Don't eat here if you aren't wanting quality food & efficient service. Maybe the other el Rico's are better, haven't tried them yet. Hit or a miss. My chicken plate was whatever but my boyfriend got the tostadas and they were amazing. So if I ever come back I'll get the tostadas or the quesadilla. I wasn't to fond of the tortillas they use or the "hot dog salsa" cup they gave us. read more

I can't believe I've been sleeping on this place. It's freaking AMAZING. Went last night and ordered half chicken meal with rice & plantains. Husband got the al pastor quesadilla. I had every intention of saving part of the chicken for the next day but between the two of us, we devoured all of it. It was smoky, perfectly seasoned and had that great grilled flavor. Definitely buy extra green sauce. It's like tiny tubs of crack. The plantains were super caramelized and I loved the sweet yogurt dipping sauce. We squeezed a little lime on the plaint and and sprinkled with salt. Pure heaven. The rice was delicious. I have so many things I want to go back and try! I maaaay have over ordered, getting the half chicken meal with beans, rice and XTRA green sauce, for only $9! I thought I would eat half and save the rest for lunch and that's exactly what I did.*** I parked myself on the couch with every intention of turning on the TV and having a leisurely meal. But first, just a quick bite of that leg. Oh, that tasty leg. Things went straight to hell after that. I had no time for TV (good thing too, or I would have had to clean my remote!) or silverware or even moving the table close. I was all hunched forward on the edge of the couch, pulling meat apart, its a wonder I didn't just slide right off. Understand. I have always said that I am one bloody steak or chicken vein away from being a vegetarian. I don't like my meat to look like an animal so generally no bones, no ribs, no wings, no feet. But last nite, I just threw everything in mah mouth. Skin? Throw it in! Fat? Throw it in! Bones? Throw it in...then....cough it out. One warning: I have never been one to complain about salt. The tortillas were wrapped nicely in foil and this was the brainwave I had about them: "Just don't even open that foil. Outta sight, outta mind. Tortillas are the Devil's Business....But what if they're homemade? With that light dusting of flour and that yummy yeastiness.....well, I'll just peek for Yelpsearch, for the review, right?? {opens foil} OH! They're corn! THAT changes everything!!" So I made myself a little taco with salty meat, sweet grilled onion and those fabulous spicy sauces. Then....I made another. Damn the Devil. And one last word about the sauces. The picante (red) sauce was amazing. The green Dona sauce was fantastic. Put them both together and you have a nuclear fusion of flavors in your mouth. It was wonderful and painful. I went through the drive-thru and the order taker did communicate well. I ordered chips and guacamole in which she verified the order along with other items. after taking an enormous amount of time giving me the order she forgot the guac and tells me that they don't serve chips. Let me start by saying after reading the other Yelp reviews, we were ready to experience a local treasure. The hubs and I LOVE to find local places to spend our money. We walked in looking for and thinking we were about to get that 5-star WOW!. Ummmm, not so much. #1. No customer service. Either the young lady at the counter was struggling with English or she was annoyed that we were asking her questions. I think she might have been allergic to smiling and making the customer feel welcome. #2. The hubs' gordita was served even though it was burnt. Not grill marks, but over cooked in oil obviously too hot and burnt. Surely, the cook saw the black marks and thought, "This is burnt. I should redo that!" Nope, did not happen. Hubs said it was hard to taste the other parts of the gordita because all he cold taste was "burnt". He ate it because he was hungry because... #3. The wait for the food took a really long time and there was nobody being served before us. From what I could tell, there was a constant line in the drive-thru that was moving pretty fast. I think they were focusing their energies on the drive-thru lane. #4. You can't stroll down a Texas street without tripping over a Tex-Mex restaurant. So with all of this competition, the food better be spot on. Drum roll, please. The food was not spot on. The refried beans were a puree, with baby food consistency and served room temperature, almost. The rice was bland. My chicken tacos were average and the one thing that made them have taste was a cilantro sauce from the condiment bar. Not only was hubs gordita burnt, but the pork was cubed, red in color, dry, and with a taste I have never tasted in any Tex-Mex food. Maybe this was a "true Mexican" syled dish, but the meat was dry. Surely they like moist meat in Mexico? Honestly, I could get better food at Taco Cabana just down the road and it would have been cheaper. We walked in with positive attitudes and big hopes. Came here to get chicken flautas and they were delicious! Chicken wasn't flavorful but it was moist considering it was a fast food flautas. Flautas were stuffed perfectly with chicken, they don't skimp! Love that they drizzled them with sour cream (I'm not big on sour cream) and added the cotija cheese over the cream, topped with lettuce, freshly cut tomatoes, and slices of avocado! Just the right amount of toppings on the flautas so I could make my 7 minute drive home and not have soggy flautas. If it takes longer, ask for the toppings on the side so there is still that crunch when you bite into them. Rice was close to perfect, flavor was good and not over salted like some Mexican joints. Salsa was delicious, not spicy, full of flavor, & just the right consistency. Seriously good flautas for the price. Oh yea, my tummy is sensitive and no issues there. I really like this place. I came in and my friend and I shared a chicken quesadilla and the beef taquitos. The quesadilla was not oily and had a much better flavor than Taco Cabana. The taquitos were very tasty and not fatty at all. I was super impressed as a person who likes my Mexican food Americanized. I also like that they have burgers for people or kids not interested in mexican food. This place was very good. The only thing wrong is they serve Pepsi and No coke products. Yuck. read more

I asked if I could get cole slaw instead (since it was on the menu as a side). She said they did not have cole slaw. Okay....well, can I get black beans? No, we don't have black beans. (Yet that was also on the menu as a side). Can I get barracho beans? Welp, apparently they only had refried beans no matter what the menu said. Got our food, I got a puny wing and breast, I had wanted dark meat. Sent it back and got an even punier thigh and leg. Taste was okay, but NOT worth the money. They give you cheap sides like beans, rice, tortillas....that stuff is fluff. For $20 we got lame amounts of chicken. Oh...and the topper was when I went to the ladies room and the sign said to put all toilet paper into the trash can, NOT the toilet. GROSS. NEVER going back. read more

The order process is a little weird, first there is a menu, then you drive up to the window to place your order. I did not really know what to order/ no menu to look at. So I just ordered what first came to mind..... "Two Tortas Please." I asked for pastor meat, I do not recall the other choices, I'm sure one was chicken since the name of the place is Delicious/Rich Chicken. The meals came with Mexican rice and a drink which I chose Agua de Jamaica (Hibiscus Punch). Upon getting home and tasting what I ordered my wife and I were very displeased. The torta was tasteless and sloppy, the bread was very dry. The pastor meat was all gristle and very low quality. There rice tasted like greasy nada. The Jamaica was too sweet it just tasted like bad kool aid. Someday when I have forgotten about this bad experience I might try it again and order the chicken to see if that's what your supposed to go there for. read more

We have been here before and really liked the burgers, they tasted fresh and like they were cooked on a grill. Came in around 6:15 on a Friday night. There was no one inside nor at the drive through. We ordered three burger deals, easy enough. The sweet tea tasted like they did not rinse the soap out of the containers, blech! Out of the twenty odd tables inside, there was ONE that was not dirty. There was food on the floor, food and trash on tables, wow! The ketchup packets must have fallen in a tub of syrup, they were filthy sticky! We received our burgers, 20 minutes later and they were terrible! They tasted like they had been frozen and plopped in a skillet to heat them up. TERRIBLE! Sorry Rico, we will not return. Quesadilla is incredible! I opted for steak because your choice of meat doesn't change the price. It is fairly large, and comes with salsa, sour cream, fantastic guacamole, and this incredible green sauce that is a bit spicy, very creamy and delicious. One odd thing is that, in the drive thru, you pull up to the menu, look at it, but then you are expected to read a faded sign that says, "Please order at the window." The wait was a bit long as you order and get your food at the same place, but definitely worth it! read more

I live very close and the food is decent here, however the customer service is the worst I may have ever experienced. Half the time they have some excuse as to why they can't serve me. In the mornings I'll arrive at between 9:00 and 9:15. The young girl will tell me they're not open yet or they can't cook anything because they have to unload the truck when it arrives. Tonight at 9:40, without the manager there, I'm told that they're closing early. The funny thing is that the kids took the order of the guy ahead of me and then I can't back out because there is someone behind me. I had to wait for the guy to get his food before I could leave! We have seen their ad in the local neighborhood newspaper and decided today was the day to try them. Reconditioned building which looks good. Friendly greeting. We wanted takeout and ordered the whole chicken combo. Did not want the rice so they gave us an extra order of beans. The smell on the way home was fabulous. So; beans, corn tortillas and a whole chicken. Three sauces, verde, red spicy bar-b-que, and a larger, maybe ranchero sauce. plus a portion of fresh lime and a well cooked onion to round off our meal. Chicken was almost skinless, well cooked, not dry but tasty like they had added a sauce as it was being grilled. The beans were like I wish I could cook them full of sausage and all the extras that define well prepared pintos. The three sauces were each quite different and wonderful. My partner took control of the green sauce and dipped almost everything in it, including the steamed carrots she prepared. Highly recommended. I LOVE the food here! Being from California I miss actual Mexican food (I'm NOT a fan of Tex-Mex), and this place would definitely fall in the category of "Mexican" food. I have tried both the Pollo Asado al Carbon and the Carne Asada, both are delicious. They also have an awesome green salsa if you like it spicy like me (they also have some mild stuff if you prefer that). The prices are pretty reasonable (I can feed my family of 5 with about $25). We eat here about once a week and will keep coming back for more :-) read more
