Just moved to the I.E. from Texas and had a craving for breakfast tacos. Although they didn't have what I'm used to as breakfast tacos, I went with the sausage and egg burrito and it was delicious! Everything was cooked really well and they are not stingy with the ingredients. Lots of beans and cheese and you got a good mix of things in every bite! So the 2* is for the salsa which is good possibly a 5 but the chorizo burrito even though good but was not prepared as requested so that's why the low rating. I ordered a chorizo burrito with the chorizo well done and crispy so that the grease would be cooked out hoping there's little grease. I'm driving and as soon as I unwrapped and took a bite of the burrito, I immediately had grease down my shirt and on the seat. This wouldn't of happened to that extreme if cooked as requested especially with the potatoes and beans that would or should absorb the minimal amount of grease that should of been left. The chorizo definitely wasn't crispy or cooked well done but was very soft and very greasy. Unfortunately I had to throw away the burrito and go back home to change. Be careful when ordering the chorizo burrito. Other places that I have ordered I haven't had that problem and when I order it the same way at the 19th st location I don't have that problem, its always been very little grease and crispy, so I think the cooks here need to read the orders a little better. read more

I told them my name and that I was there to pick up a mobile order that I had ordered twenty minutes prior....She said it was not ready yet. After waiting another 20 mins I got frustrated and asked her for a follow up . All I ordered was one burrito and two tacos....she found it and said "oh whoops here it is" and I asked "so my order has just been sitting there the entire time?" And she just said "yeah". Homemade - this is by far the best kind 2. Late night / college spots - for those of us on a tight budget or just hammered (usually my state of mind) 3. Upscale - where the food is so so but the price is a no no (at least for my wallet) I tend to stay away from the 3rd category because I've tasted Mexican foods from many different locations and the 1st and 2nd category is far superior and sooo much tastier. El Ranchero falls into category 1 and the food speaks for itself. Located at the intersection of Haven and 6th Street in Rancho Cucamonga, you'll find El Ranchero right next to a gas station. I know what you are thinking ... GAS STATION?! But its right NEXT to it. The gas station does have a Subway in it if that tickles your fancy but El Ranchero is right next to it in a large, white building. I only say this because, depending on how you enter the parking lot, you can access El Ranchero in just one way and driving past the gas station is the way I normally enter. The ambiance/decor of the place feels like a family-style place. The door is a little squeaky on the way in so don't let that alarm you. The restaurant is rather large and you can see lots of décor (mainly beer ads) and televisions. To the right is the restrooms and straight ahead is the counter. The main part of the menu is right about the cashiers but look slightly to the right and you'll see another menu that has some more items. To the left is where all the seating is along with the tv's and wall art. If you walk toward the seating area and look off to the right, you'll see the salsa bar and fountain drinks. The counter also extends that far and is where you'll pick up your to go orders. Service is solid. The cashiers are really friendly and are able to keep the customers moving to minimize backup and wait times. The food runners are pretty quick too; I don't think I waited more than 8 minutes for my order. Granted it was a small order but it got to me as soon as it was made in the back. So if you are a nice person, you'll wait for everyone in your party to get their order but, to be honest, it is a difficult task. I don't go for the combo that much because in my few times here I've noticed others in my party not finishing them. Sometimes it can be a little hard or not have great flavor from what they tell me. Me personally, I just can't eat that much food so I'd rather not waste it. You can ask them for chips at the counter and usually they'll give them to you or bring some to the table with your order. The salsa bar is really on point; not too many salsas but they have the ones that count. The hot has a solid kick so exercise caution if you don't tolerate spice well. CONS:- - Taco Tuesday gets REAALLY busy so plan accordingly - the cut outs in the front, although fun, kinda take up space - fix the squeaky door PROS:- - ambiance and decor - service - food - Mexican beers AND Jarritos FTW!! Giving this place a one star, is way too much!! We ordered breakfast burritos and had them delivered at work. All of us (4 people) that ate the burritos became extremely ill as soon as we ate them. Our symptoms are pointing to food poisoning. Fever, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pains. The stomach pain is similar to labor pain, just to share with you how bad the discomfort is. It's been almost 2 years since my first review here. I had chicken and potato tacos for taco Tuesday. The chicken was still juicy and great(previous review mentions this)! Potato tacos were huge and full of papa, wonderful with some added salsa. Price point was perfect, able to feed a family of 7 for $20 on taco Tuesday. This time customer service had improved, I didn't get the cashier's name(she had straight ish black shiny hair) but she gave great customer service was very nice and friendly and I enjoyed being helped by her. I ordered more to go and the second cashier wasn't as friendly but her service wasn't bad either, she could use some improvement. They had asada, pastor, carnitas, pollo, and potato tacos. Comes with onions, cilantro, and some mild salsa. Potato comes with cheese, lettuce, tomato. You can get more salsa on your own, as well as lime, jalapenos and carrots. read more

We happened to stop by this place on the way to a concert because we were in a hurry and it was on the way. Best quick service Mexican we could have stumbled upon! The food is fast as delicious! I had a chicken ranchero bowl and my husband had the chorizo and eggs. The staff was friendly and helpful, the location clean and food came out fast and hot. They even have chicken nuggets for my picky 4 year old! We ended up going back a few days later because it was so good and I was craving a bowl and my daughter was asking for their chicken nuggets. My husband got the taco plate this time and he said it was also good. The meals come with chips and a salsa bar that has delicious salsa choices for chips and your food. Our office gets breakfast burritos from here almost on a weekly basis. Anywhere from 15-20 burritos. Costing Approx. $120 a week. However, they wont issue more than one tiny little side of salsa per burrito. This just shows that customer loyalty means nothing to this place. We have supported them through a pandemic and they want to charge us .25 cents per 1 oz for a salsa. $480 a month in breakfast burritos and they cant spare 3-5 extra salsa's. I think it's time the owner realize how valued our business is to them so we will be taking it somewhere else. Most likely Mexico Lindos off Archibald in Rancho Cucamonga. I advise patrons not to go here anymore until the ownership and management can respect their loyal customers and not nickel and dime (literally!) them for salsa. From the walk-in to the very end it was as satisfying as the Agua Fresca (Horchata) The taquitos as well as the beens and rice were amazing. My husband had the Jamon and eggs and it was a good portion. The Salsas/Chiles were really good (all sorts non spicy, mild, hot, and hotter. like 4 or 5) and they walk over Chips as you sit down. I ordered to go from here for lunch, as I'm trying to try most of the places around my work place. Having tried a couple mexican places around here, I realized I havent tried this place El Ranchero which I've passed before. I got the wet chile verde pork burrito to go, and got it to go. The order took around 20 minutes, which was a little longer than the expected wait time they gave me. Also, after i got my order, I realized they had forgotten to give me a fork, but only a knife, so I had to go back in and ask for a fork. Overall, the burrito was alright, nothing too special. The sauce they put on top of the burrito seems like its just the mild salsa at the bar, even though I was charged a dollar extra for it, although I guess they drizzled some sour cream and some cheese on top which can justify that. The burrito felt pretty soggy, as all the ingredients kind of just formed one mush with bits of pork in between. I'd come back here to try it again, maybe they were having an off day, since it was indeed pretty busy, but so far after trying the burrito, I'm not that impressed. Although the burrito was a fair size and pretty filling, I just don't see myself craving this, but perhaps the rest of the menu is better. For now, I'd give it a 2.5 stars. read more

This was my go to place for tacos! All their tacos are made while you wait. They usually give free chips with your order. It's a big place so lots of places to sit inside. In town for a training conference and thought I'd check out El Ranchero. The service was friendly, but my Fish Burrito had some nasty deep fried fish in it that tasted like it'd been left in the freezer too long. I should have asked what type of fish, but figured for $9 that it would have something much better than frozen, microwaved fish sticks inside. I did get free chips and the mild salsa was flavorful. I love hot salsas and El Ranchero's was decently hot, but didn't taste fresh. Seemed like it was made with that spicy oil some restaurants use rather than good, fresh ingredients. One of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant! Came here this past Sunday. As soon as we walked in all I see is buckets all over the dining area catching water from the leaky ceiling . We ordered , almost $40 years worth of food and could not be given 1 salsa . It was $1 for a small salsa plastic container .
