I went here with a work friend who said, "I have a good taco place for you to try." Well, she was right. But, on this visit I went with the California burrito. However, several pieces of the meat had gristle, but I still found the overall burrito to be delicious. The flavor was outstanding and I LOVED the table salsa they provided. The salsas have a kick of spice to them and they have two varieties, a green and a brown/red, I liked both. The inside was clean and spacious and I found the staff to be nice. This Mexican restaurant is a hidden gem. Buried in a strip mall with its doorway facing the parking lot, away from the view of passers-by on Warner Blvd., El Torazo probably gets only half the foot traffic that it truly deserves. I have been to El Torazo 4 times. IMO, they have the best crunchy hard tacos in LA and Orange County. I have been eating at Tito's Tacos for over 50 years and it was hands down my favorite crunchy taco place until I wandered into El Torazo. Their shredded beef tacos covered with spinach and Jack cheese are simply outstanding and their crunchy chicken tacos are quite good as well. I haven't yet eaten any of their other menu items, because El Torazo offers $2.00 Taco Tuesdays and Tacos Fridays. Considering how tasty the El Torazo crunchy tacos are, $2.00 per taco is a great deal. $10 for 5 excellent crunchy tacos. What's not to like about that? They got soft tacos, burritos, horchata, various Mexican fruit drinks , and a few other items, but the crunchy tacos alone will keep me coming here over and over again. Starting nine months ago I never knew this place existed! Then a friend pointed out since I work in the area that I should get some tacos over there and honestly it's been worth it! The taco's are just amazing, plus their quesadillas, plus if you want something rare they started doing burgers too! The service is just amazing, they always treat me right and ask how I'm doing. I normally take my food to go so I sit in the middle bar area and just wait but the ambiance is cool, the tv's playing either a college football game or whatever's on the news. So glad that this place has opened up. The crispy tacos always come out hot and fresh, the fries are salted well (not too heavy), and having the salad as an option is really appreciated and it's tasty. The red and green sauces are incredible. Also enjoying that they've got vegan options in mushroom tacos. The restaurant is very clean, and food comes out quickly and the staff are always kind and courteous. Price is excellent at $13 for the crispy two taco combo, fries, salad, and drink. I ordered a mahi taco and a potato taco. I was served shrimp instead. I am allergic to shrimp. When I brought it to their attention, they apologized and brought me the correct one. On the exact same plate. They did apologize once again. After all that the mahi taco was very salty and the potato taco was mostly cilantro. They do a brisk business so some must be satisfied. I actually was not craving mexican bc i didn't want something too heavy but my bf insisted we try this new place out and i was surely not disappointed. i ordered the slim breakfast bowl which is very delicious and light-- did not feel sluggish at all afterwards which i usually do after eating mexican lol. My bf got the classic breakfast burrito and tacos-- all were very good according to him. Service was great, inside seating is very spacious and overall a great dining experience. El Torazo just opened here and it's definitely authentic Mexican food. The salsas are well made and have a kick of spice to them. I ordered the classic wrap with chorizo, which was basically a breakfast burrito. Potatoes were cooked well, the chorizo was flavorful and wasn't greasy. The beef barbacoa was delicious and the corn tortilla was a delicious addition to the taco. I love that they offer to go on yelp by Grubhub. The inside was clean and spacious. They've actually got Buñuelos in a bag- The real deal! I would've given him a five star except for the surf and turf - I didn't care for the meat as much as I probably could've I don't know why I ordered it I never ordered that big of a meal, Plus I'm more of a flexitarian now- lol! I had ordered a carne asada burrito bowl. Thinking it was going to come out as a bowl... to my surprise, it came out as a plate. Came in on Sat 7/13 and greeted by the nice gentleman at the counter. Brought my nephews who are picky and horse around so it took a while for us to order. Cashier was patient and answered all our questions and gave recommendations. I had the crispy beef and the fish tacos. Both were delicious! Love having a taqueria by us! They have two other locations in Long Beach and Bellflower and appear to be a well oiled machine despite this spot having only been open for a little over a year. They're tucked away in the corner of the plaza between Dairy Queen and Sweet Elle Café. While there are plenty of mexican places around Huntington Beach, taquerias are more rare so this place feels unique, even though it's slighty americanized and not the kind of taqueria you'll find in Santa Ana for example. We like taking advantage of their Taco Tuesday or Friday specials. We've tried almost every taco and our go to's are; crispy shredded beef taco, carne asada, carnitas and barbacoa mexican taco. Usually, my favorite taco tends to be al pastor, but I'm not crazy about theirs - not enough pineapple to really make it pop. But it's not terrible by any means. I've also had their fried fish taco and it's actually pretty good. My husband who isn't typically a fish fan was surprised to like it as well. TACO TUESDAY Just go!!! I've been a couple times before for takeout at dinner time. Have been happy with their food and the prices in general. But today was ! We stopped in for lunch since it was close and had just enough of a gap to eat but not enough to go home and make lunch and then get to the next appointment. For an unplanned stop, at the end of the month when I had not planned to spend any more money eating out this ended up being SUCH a great stop. Not only was it Taco Tuesday where specials included their Mexican Tacos for $1.99 all day...these were some of the best I've had in a very long time. We ordered 2 chicken, 2 beef barbacoa and 2 asada. I rarely order beef out anymore because it's just so hard to prepare WELL and I'm over paying for food I end up not liking. I just don't have expendable cash for that these days. But we were hungry today and given my past experiences here I thought we'd try. I'm so glad we did. Their chicken is always all white meat and grilled. Seasoned well. So it comes out flavorful and not dry. But the show stoppers for me we're their beef options. The beef barbacoa took me home to the home cooks I grew up around in the Central Valley. It was DELICIOUS. Flavored well. Cooked perfectly. Cleaned and trimmed perfectly. It was an outstanding barbacoa preparation IMO. It's not easy to cook. And it's harder to cook it well. They did it great. Their asada was similar. Cleaned and prepped so it was basically gristle free which I appreciate GREATLY. I LOVE asada. I HATE gnawing at beef. I'm not here for a jaw workout. I don't need a headache from the chewing. The threat of poorly prepped beef or poor cuts is the main reason I never order this anymore. But not here. You get meat. Not gristle. And it's seasoned and grilled well. So you taste ASADA. To make it all better, you get healthy servings of each meat in each taco. No skimping for the taco Tuesday price!! Solid! As of that was not enough...I really appreciated that instead of 2 flimsy and low grade corn tortillas they used one slightly thicker yellow corn tortilla for each taco. You could taste the corn and it wasn't saturated in oil from the grill. All in all the tacos were simple but just really well done. Made them so darn good. I don't know how I've missed coming on a Tuesday all this time. And I was clearly the only one! While we were there, every low table was filled more than once, every table outside their place was filled and at least half of the high seats in the shared bar spaces were filled. It was hoppin! Which I always think is a wonderful sign! In addition we shared a cucumber lemon agua fresca and loved it. It wasn't too saccharine. All in all, me and my mom had lunch for $16 and it was easily one of the best I've had out in a while. Given the hustle and bustle while we were there I would venture to say we aren't the only ones who were feeling the vibe and the food! If you haven't already I strongly recommend - on any day for sure! But Taco Tuesdays are a MUST! I'll add, I've also recently, but in another visit, ordered their bowls to go as well as one of their bags of bañuelos. I had expected to order a bowl today based on that experience - it's what had brought me back today. So, really there are so many items here that you cannot go wrong with. Today, while at Ralph's, I decided to give this mexican restaurant a try. The service was slow, I ordered a simple breakfact burrito, with potatoes and eggs. I also asked if the had jalapenos, they said yes; so I requested one. I was told they only come in three's so I said fine. I got home, the jalapenos where serrano peppers. They are not the same, and don't even taste alike. The burrito was bland, the eggs were flate and tasteless. They even put spinach in it. If you want a simple breakfact burrito, go down the street to Del Taco, they might not have fresh jalapenos but the breakfast burrito will be much better. read more
