Incredibly disappointing and expensive. We had our prix fixe Thanksgiving dinner here, and although the grounds were beautiful, the meal was mediocre. It was strange, because the courses themselves were attractive, but were underwhelming in flavor. The duck confit cannelloni tasted like beef and was dry. The cannelloni was an over baked crepe, the heavy foie gras bechamel...zero foie gras and overall flavor. The brassicas salad desperately needed acid. The whole roasted Loup De Mer was overcooked and under seasoned. It was roasted with gobs of aromatics like rosemary and thyme, lemon slices too, but didn't impart those flavors into the flesh. Some of the potatoes were undercooked. The red wine braised short rib was pretty decent, but again, under seasoned. The carrots were delicious, as well as the amuse. The cornbread, mini apple pie and pumpkin pies were decent but not rave worthy, and serving them still in the aluminum pie tin in a bowl was tacky for an upscale establishment. The service was outstanding. For $170 per person, (plus drinks, tax, and no choice but to pay 20% tip) I want to be wowed! My guest and I were not. Two drinks should have been included. We spoke with two others that were dining here today, and they also felt that the food was disappointing. read more

We had a lovely anniversary dinner at Elements. We made reservations, and were seated at a romantic booth that enabled us to watch the sun go down. The high walls of the booth and dead-end location of the table made it feel quite private and also safer at this late stage of the pandemic. On that subject, the staff was all masked, and guests were good about being masked when they were walking around inside of the building. Service was excellent. At the start of our visit, we were asked several times if we had any allergies or sensitivities; we do not, but I appreciated their consideration. The menu changed over for summer just a few days ago, so there were many new things. I had the new Queen of Hearts cocktail. With my entree, I had Frog's Leap chardonnay; I'm not a big char fan, but it was fantastic. My husband enjoyed Kilt Lifter. Our beginnings aka appetizers, were the wagyu dumplings and shishito peppers, both delicious. My salmon entree was perfectly cooked, and my husband was impressed by his chicken dish. The broccolini was perfectly cooked. The one blip was the lobster macaroni and cheese, which was delicious and rich, but the cheese sauce was 'broken,' quite watery on top and grainy at the bottom. Still tasty, even if the texture was off. For dessert, we shared one of the new offerings, a deconstructed strawberry shortcake. It's hard to get good strawberries around Phoenix, and these were perfectly ripe. It was a great finish for our meal. read more

As a gluten free diner, I had plenty of options to choose from as I enjoyed the view of the setting sun. I enjoyed this restaurant with a group of colleagues and found the service to be exceptional with all the touches of refinement and excellence. I shared the shrimp cocktail because the size of the shrimp were huge! It was quite tasty with a flavorful cocktail sauce. For my entree I had scallops. The portion was four large scallops in a delectable sauce with Marcona almonds. The table shared sides of mushrooms, fries (amazing!), asparagus and mac n cheese. For dessert I ordered the lavender gelato and thought it was velvety with the perfect amount of lavender flavor. All in all, this was the dining highlight of our trip. I have been to Elements several times over the years and have always enjoyed the food and dining experience...until last night. I made clear in my reservation that the dinner was for a special occasion and requested a window table. We walked in right behind a group of three who announced, upon entering, that they didn't have a reservation. I saw them walked to a lovely table with a view in the main dining area. Our party of three, who did have a reservation, was walked to a back room (that I have only been in for corporate events), that was isolated from the main area and were seated at a table in the middle of the room, even though there was a window table available. We were moved to the window, after I mentioned that I had requested one in the reservation I made, but we were seated next to a large group who were extremely loud and overbearing. So our first impression was definitely negative. We then looked at the menu and none of us could find anything that looked the least bit appealing - the menu had changed considerably, and not for the better, since my last visit. If you don't like cucumbers, persimmons or black olives as an accompaniment with most entrees, you're out of luck. One of us just ordered French Onion soup and I ordered sushi, which I had no intention of doing, but couldn't find anything else of interest. We felt like after-thoughts from the start and the situation wasn't redeemed by the meal. It was very disappointing all the way around and the whole experience put a damper on what was supposed to have been a special evening. read more

Our dinner at Elements was wonderful. We had a booth with a view of the mountains (it seems that all/most tables have a terrific view). The restaurant had a happy hum, but the sound (and music) didn't distract from the dinner. Loud music is my new pet-peeve and the level was perfect. My sea bass was light and flavorful. I also loved the beet salad with pistachio brittle and the focaccia . So flavorful. Shannon was professional and personable. She added to our experience by pointing out the names of the mountains and sharing her insight about the area. I read some recent reviews that were not favorable. Our experience was terrific. Elements has been on my bucket list for years. We finally went about two weeks ago and it was a bit of a letdown. To start, the restaurant is gorgeous. Floor to ceiling windows have incredible views and we took in a beautiful sunset. We started with oysters, a hamachi crudo special, and charred octopus. Hamachi Crudo tends to be one of those appetizers that we usually order and then end up ordering a second one right away. The taste of the crudo was pretty one note- just kind of salty and nothing more. The octopus was very good- not unlike octopus dishes I've had in other similar restaurants. For the main course, I had that Chilean Seabass and my husband had a ribeye special. The ribeye was delicious. The Seabass was fine but the accompaniments were just ok. The mushroom were a bit hard and bland and I couldn't pick out the cilantro or avocado taste in the rice. For dessert, we had a peach dessert and that was beautiful and tasty :) -- Now cocktails- we had six but I can't find a menu to refer back to what they were. I just know they weren't the level of cocktail I had hoped for after reading so many rave reviews for years. -- So in the end, Elements was beautiful. It's the food that disappointed. Ny steak was bland. Probably why they offer sauces for an extra charge but a well seasoned steak shouldn't require sauce. Broccolini was salty. Our first dinner here, with a reservation made for a Friday evening a week prior. With many other similarly-priced Valley restaurants booked two weeks in advance, we were fortunate to reserve our table. Michael, our server, was thorough and matter-of-fact; a real professional. The valet service was very friendly. Our order: the heirloom tomato & burrata caprese salad was a shared starter, preceded by warm, fresh bread and herbed butter. For mains, I ordered the Wild Isles Salmon (sourced from Scotland's North Sea), with a side of chili garlic broccolini. My wife ordered the Wash Farms Chicken. Our dessert was a shared coconut cream pie. What we loved: There wasn't much we didn't love. The ingredients were top-notch: whether it was the vegetables, herbs, oils, custards, or meats, they were individually at the high end of quality and carefully sourced. Together, they made memorable flavors that rank with our best tasting experiences in Arizona. This was especially true of my salmon, its accompanying pesto, the starter's heirloom tomatoes, and the extraordinary jus of the chicken main course. The view and ambience of the dining room is as much a part of this experience as any restaurant in the Valley. What Surprised Us: the quality of the dishes that are pictured in other reviews distorted our expectations: we thought these dishes would be sized more like a multiple-course prix fixe tasting menu. Actually, they were nearly comfort-sized portions! So, I ordered the wonderfully-spicy broccolini to fill in the gaps left by what I thought would be small portions, but in the end it was not necessary, and made me a little too full! In Short: Without even sampling any of their signature cocktails and mixed drinks, my wife and I had an excellent experience that combined a great ambience with great service and skillful cuisine. Elements is amazing and NEVER disappoints. I have been here 5 times within the past 4 years and have never had a less than wonderful experience. They are great for all meals, all occasions and have gorgeous views of the valley. It's worth coming here if you aren't a guest at Sanctuary, even better if you are. Reservations are a must, definitely make them in advance ! The staff is always great, they're all on their A game - from the hostess, to server assistants to the servers themselves. While their menu seasonally changes sometimes, I have always loved their sea bass and peanut butter chocolate dessert! An almost perfect dining experience for the third time! I always plan a date here while visiting Arizona and it never disappoints. We were seated at a table with a view because the sun came out and the hostess warned us it would get very hot. It was very private with tall booth table walls and positioned so I could have a panoramic view while I ate. Our server was amazing, I'm sorry I don't remember his name because I would've loved to give him a little shoutout. He was welcoming, attentive, and even funny. The food came out hot and fresh. I had the chicken Milanese which was cooked to perfection, it just lacked seasoning and was a bit dry. I however appreciate that there was no greasiness to the dish. Also, the side salad was refreshing and the portion was huge. I ate leftovers for lunch again the next day. The shishito peppers were AMAZING ! I absolutely will try to replicate this recipe at home. The bowl went so fast. My husband had the miso salmon bento box and throughly enjoyed that as well. I cannot end this review without mentioning the mehkong cocktail. The view was amazing. The staff was nice. We sat on cushioned sofa-like seating that had a view of the outside. As we are, we had a nice evening of seeing the view during the day and during the evening. We sat indoors, but you could also sit outside. Fantastic service, best brunch around. They answer their phone swiftly and it is easy to make a reservation. Last minute changes are not burdensome and the view and interior ambiance is superb. The private dining rooms are so well appointed I now want to throw a party there. We had a lovely time celebrating our friend's new baby. All the ladies were impressed by my choice of venue and their individual food orders. Thanks Elements, you made me look good! My boyfriend wanted to surprise me with a restaurant of his choosing for my birthday dinner. After searching many fine dining restaurants in the area, he chose Elements, and I am so glad that he did! He told them it was my birthday when making the reservation, and the staff greeted me saying Happy Birthday. They informed us that for the occasion they were seating us in their "romance booth". This booth had breathtaking views, and they kindly gave me a card wishing me a happy birthday. A manager formally introduced himself and stated he would make sure the night was special for us, and let me tell you, he sure did! We had an amazing waiter, Chris E. He came with great dinner suggestions and an even better personality. He was all smiles and enthusiasm. It made the dinner memorable and I truly do not think the night would have been the same without him. We ordered the fruit salad and gnudi parmesan pasta he recommended. Calamari was cooked perfectly; not too big a serving which I am fine with! Blue cheese salad was just fabulous - great presentation! My husband had the strip and I had the filet - both outrageous - full of flavor with a great char on both. It's a little dark when dining outside like we did but nevertheless we certainly enjoyed dining outside with a wonderful view and great food! Chef Beau Mac is brilliant! Highly recommend this restaurant as it connected on all aspects of our dining experience. We started with a round of cocktails that were creative and tasty. The French Spy was a pleasant surprise that had a nice balance of flavors. The Honzo was a new twist on an Old Fashion that was enjoyable. The Spicy Margarita had a nice blend of cucumber and heat. The Lost Dutchman was a another hit! We started with a round of oyster shooters and the tuna tartare. Both were fresh and a nice way to start the evening. I don't even know where to begin this review. From the food to the ambiance this was the perfect place to come for my birthday! The vegan entree was absolutely perfect! It's one of the best plant based meals I've ever had! And the peppers as an appetizer were absolutely fantastic, I could've cried from the burst of umami and spice I got from it. Seriously. The black rice in the entree was coconut-ty and vibrant and the tofu was perfectly fried. And I mean look at the presentation! Just gorgeous. The experience here was nice. There was even an intimate wedding by the time it was sunset. We could see the Mummy mountain from where we sat and enjoy the Arizona sunset too. We started off with the Hudson Valley Fois Gras appetizer- which was kind of light a dessert with a twist of savoriness because it had a half slice lengthwise of banana, hazelnut crumb and chipotle chocolate sauce and then the savory pate (duck liver). We also had the Steamed Mussels based in a creamy coconut green curry with charred mango and pineapple. I'd say the mussels were not as fresh as I've had from other places. Oh and before appetizer hot fresh bread was given to nibble on. We used some of that read to dip in the curry sauce. For entrees we ordered Snake River Farms Korubuta Pork Chop and the 10 oz filet mignon. Apparently the pork chop was a staple entree and favorite among diners. So I had to try it. It's a really thick and by thick I mean almost 3 inches high of meat glazed with five spice honey on a bed of purple yams and topped with broccolini and pickled peaches. I wasn't a fan of how thick it was so I was suggested to have it butterflied-which was a great choice. The 5 spice honey glaze was a very familiar likable taste I enjoyed. The filet mignon was no different than any other filet mignon however was cooked well. It sat on bloomsdale spinach and pomme purée (which is a a very creamy potato paste with lots of butter) and black garlic chive butter. We were too full for dessert but did send us home with a coconut cupcake in a clear box for the special occasion. The staff boxed up my leftovers. However when I came home and opened the box they only sent me home with just the meat. What about the rest of my brocollini and purple yam and peaches?!?! The leftover meal was Incomplete. This is one reason why I don't like restaurants to box my food. I don't get to see what they are boxing away. Overall was a good experience. Their staff was at their best. The restaurant does have a large wine selection for wine lovers. Dining here would be for those looking for a romantic evening. read more

Took over an hour just to order appetizers. We asked numerous times. They served us so many cocktails before even giving us bread it was irresponsible. We watched a Stanley Cup game on the tv (and tried to contain ourselves when our team scored) and really enjoyed the outstanding happy hour food and drinks and great deals! Seriously, for a place this high-end, the happy hour deals are phenomenal and unexpected! But, the real kicker here was the phenomenal bar service from our awesome bartender! She rocked!! We migrated to the dining room after the game was over and the sun headset and enjoyed a phenomenal meal with food that is clearly made from the highest quality ingredients by expert chefs and served by attentive and friendly wait staff. The atmosphere in the restaurant is extremely comfortable! It is warm and dark and has amazing views! Value: overall, the value in the restaurant is very good, you definitely won't leave hungry, portions are large, quality is premium and service is great. This is truly a 4 1/2 star restaurant in my opinion and I highly recommend it. If we lived closer, it would be a regular spot for happy hour and celebratory dinners. Should you try it? My husband and I LOVE this restaurant. Chef Beau Mac always has something great going on. They have a decent cocktail program and beautiful views. They do have specials but the menu doesn't change often. I've tried pretty much everything on their dinner menu. The only one that I wouldn't recommend would be the veggie one-it's just not as good as the rest of the food. Overall everything has great flavours and is delicious. However, if you want something spicy, don't try this spot. It's not that. We came for brunch for the first time for our anniversary celebration. I love brunch. Eggs Benedict are my absolute favourite but a lot of places do them pretty poorly and you end up with eggs that aren't quite cooked right and it ruins the whole thing. I saw them on the menu and was very excited to try it. They were amazing!!! The egg whites were like whipped or something like that-super fluffy and flavourful and the eggs were cooked to perfection. The hollandaise had this citrus in it that cut the richness of the sauce and...well let's just say I'm still dreaming of it. My husband got the tomatillo sauce one and loved that too. The views are totally killer too!! Great for photos anytime of day but sunrise/sunset would be my recommendation. You will need a reservation here for sure. The ONLY issue I have with this place is, the service is not what it should be for such a high end place. It seems like they might be experiencing staffing issues but they were slow and forgot little things-like our request for ketchup and hot sauce. It's also pretty pricey but if you don't have drinks, it won't be totally killer. read more

Everything had great flavor and good seasoning. At the time that we visited the wine by the bottle was extremely reasonably priced and that made me want to stay longer . It was nice to stroll around the property and see how elegant and detailed the hotel landscape is. Although a great quality the steak was undercooked and for the value you would think they knew better. Bottom line first: nice setting, average food, spotty service We were here after hiking the Cholla Trail for a late breakfast. We got a table on the corner, and the restaurant was essentially empty. The view was beautiful, overlooking both the pool as well as the Camelback Mountain that we just hiked. The server recommended the breakfast fried rice, which I was really looking forward to. However, when it came out, it was clear that the rice was WAY too salty. Thus, I had no choice, but to switch to the four letter acronym sandwich that she otherwise recommended. It was all right, especially a variant of an egg Benedict. Even though the restaurant was completely empty, the service somehow disappeared. I had to wait a bit after completely emptying my glass to wave down a server looking our way to get more water. Then, after getting the check, we also had to wait more than 10 minutes to try to take care of it, which was annoying because we had an activity planned afterwards. You would think that a place like this would be more conscientious about their customers time Despite the promising façade, I won't be excited to come back here. read more

This place was phenomenal! Elements resides within the Sanctuary resort (sister resort to Mountain Shadows). The restaurant sits on the top floor overlooking the infinity swimming pool.
