Nor did it have much taste. A shame to take a nice cut of meat and smash it. Service was not on par today. Long waits across the board. From Greet. To apps. To drinks, entree and finally, the check. All took far longer than one would expect from a fine dining experience. Kind of "west valley" like service. There, I said it. Champagne was warm. Server failed to offer a taste. Clearly not trained on wine service. We really like this location and frequently dine here. Today was disappointing. We left a 3 star because of the food, but should have been 2. I had lunch for my birthday here at Elements and we sat outside. The view was beautiful and the temperature that day was amazing. Several other people were having lunch outside as well. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. She took our orders quickly and our food surprisingly did not take long to come out. I ordered a cheeseburger, which was probably one of the best tasting burgers I had had in a while. It was juicy, thick, and very flavorful. It was also pretty big. The fries were also a hit. They were crispy and hot! My cocktail was delicious and refreshing. It was also pretty strong. We also ordered a latte and it was great. In a word- stupendous. From the setting to the staff, from the cocktails to the post- dinner chocolate bark, this was a special night. I'm not going into all the dishes we had- there were six of us and we had so many of the items on the menu. Probably the only startling item was the talons were left on the chicken legs for the chicken special. They were disconcerting to the two who ordered the special, but both commented that the taste was unique and excellent. Service was superb, plenty of time, attention and knowledge without interfering with our conversation and the ambience. Tastes were unique, tasty and left a good memory. I took my wife here on a special dinner date during our snowbird vacation to Scottsdale. We don't go out to eat often, especially not at high end places like this, but it was well worth it. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, we were treated like VIP and our every need was quickly attended to. Our server Bill was extremely friendly and provided helpful recommendations, and even surprised us with a delicious butter cake dessert on the house. The NY strip was hands down the most delicious steak I ever had - it was cooked perfectly and was packed with flavor and yummy garnishes. My wife said the same thing about her wild caught salmon she ordered. I was so excited after I setup the reservation, she paused to look for a good table, and said she had the best seat in the house. I asked "the one by the window" she confirmed. We got there and it was as if that conversation didn't happen. At first we were put in a corner, so I asked for a better spot by the window and we did get an ok table but not the booths by the window which were mostly empty. I guess I should've forced it but didn't want to create a bad tone for our night. The soup and octopus was good, probably best thing we had tonight. The waiter was friendly, but only saw him a few times which was odd. We got our food and he finally checked in when we were nearly done but it was just a quick drive by. If he would have asked I would have told him that my short rib was really fatty. I know some might like that but meant I only ate a bit over 3/4 of it. My wife had the filet which was fine, but wasn't finished well. The photos I saw had much more to it but this was a pretty basic steak and not seasoned well or seared at all. Honestly have had better steaks at Outback. We went outside and walked the grounds and the view is nice, but I'd only come for maybe drinks unless we just had an off night and the food is usually a lot better. ‍ They did give us two little pieces of chocolate at the end, I'm guessing for our anniversary? read more

Man-oh-man did we have a WONDERFUL Sunday brunch here!! I'm happy with a hole in the wall if the food is good, but can get "cranky," however, if you take me to a FABULOUS place if the food is over-priced crapola, no matter how nice the setting/view might be. Elements is the complete package... AMAZING setting and WONDERFUL food!! We got a great table inside, with a view of the whole valley. The menu was just BEGGING me to try one of everything, but the breakfast fried rice caught my eye and it was DELICIOUS!! My hosts ordered the equally delicious looking bagel and lox plate and avocado toast. We also shared an order of truffle fries, which were ok, but not quite as "mind-blowing" as some of their other offerings. This is a "see and be seen" special occasion place, MUCH more "fancy pants" than what I'm used to. On our visit of the most livable City...Scottsdale, AZ we came across a little diamond of an area called the town of Paradise Valley. PV is full of blue chip real estate, Lamborghini SUVs, and great resorts and restaurants. Word on the streets is Elements at the Sanctuary is a choice selection restaurant as the views, food, and service create a one off dining experience. I called up Elements and placed a brunch reservation for a 10am Saturday spot with Emily. Emily notated my requested view booth. Boo and I rolled in and was greeted by Travis in valet. We entered a beautiful restaurant entrance and were swept away to our private dining booth with full valley views. Samantha our server arrived and guided our drink and brunch order with elegance. The eggs Benedict was an excellent meal, the english muffin was soft, rich, and doughy, making my brunch one for the ages to remember. Samantha went above and beyond for this anniversary celebration taking pictures of the wifey and I and providing a warm salted caramel brownie dessert. They apologized but said they could do nothing. Then they shouldn't have confirmed a window table. I had the most lovely dinner at Elements Restaurant! I made the reservation on open table so it was very easy and was seated fairly quickly. We arrived like 15 minutes early so sat by the bar and ordered drinks. I ordered the original sin (pink drink) which was bourbon, rosemary, red wine with quince (tart flavored) and it was delicious! A well crafted drink. We were then seated outside overlooking the infinity pool, mountains and a beautiful sunset. The service did start off slow as it took over 15 minutes for a waitress to greet us and offer water. However, we were assigned a different waitress who hopped right in and helped us out. She offered us complimentary champagne for the wait which was a very nice gesture. For our meals we ordered the garlic mussels as an appetizer (super fresh!) and I ordered the sea bass entree. I was looking forward to trying the miso version of the sea bass however, there was a recent of the menu. This time it was prepared in a cream like savory sauce, topped with tomatoes and parsley (I believe). It was still pretty good and this fish was cooked perfectly, smooth texture. My bf ordered the lobster (MKT priced) and he really enjoyed it. Buttery and well seasoned. The entrees are a la carte so we ordered a side of the Yukon mashed potatoes which paired really well with our seafood. Overall, I still really enjoyed my evening at this restaurant. Food was phenomenal and the service was exceptional. The staff and chef even allowed one of our party members to eat from one of the specialized courses that usually was not available for dinner. The braised short rib, the carpaccio, and the scallops I would highly recommend. The wine list was amazing and the server was very knowledgeable in his recommendations during the dinner. Talk about a view! We made reservations for brunch at Elements for a post hike meal. After walking from echo canyon to Elements, which is about a 30 minute jaunt from the trail head, we were ready to eat. Unfortunately we were an hour early for our reservations. BUT, they were happy to seat us. We basically had the place to our selves with the most spectacular view of the mountains We ordered some appetizers, the Shishito peppers and French fries with aioli. Both were so flavorful, we talked about the peppers the rest of the trip. I had the avocado toast and it was good. Not my most favorite but it was quite a generous portion of egg and avocado. It was very filling. I had the Bloody Mary and it was quite frankly the worst bloody Mary's I've ever had. I think their was a bad worschestire to mix ration. I mean it was $14 so I drank it but man, I do not recommend that one. Overall still a great experience and great food with amazing views. read more

After spending an extended weekend here at the Sanctuary Resort & Spa, the hardest part was having to consider leaving. The grounds are great (steep & breath-taking) and you realize while here, you don't need to leave the grounds as the vibe is perfect and it's complemented with a great restaurant in Elements. The restaurant serves as the dining for the pool as well as in-room service and the quality of the food is exactly the same. During this weekend stay, we managed to partake in dining with elements at least four times with the highlight being a Sunday Birthday Brunch to help celebrate a memorable day. The staff was very helpful they were actually able to accommodate keeping our cake cold prior to the Brunch and pulled it out with perfect timing to surprise. The staff made sure to accommodate all of our needs. So let's get to the food.... Where to start... One of the best items, to many surprises, is the J Burger which is awesome. Other items that we indulged with were the Brioche French Toast... unbelievably good as it was flambe with a banana on top. In addition, we indulged in the Shishito Peppers, Raw Oysters, Korean BBQ Bowls, Avocado Toast, Huevos Rancheroes, and a lot of cocktails (Little Leaf was one of my favorites). Not cheap, but totally with it. Probably the only thing that wasn't a big hit amongst anybody was the Turkey Melt Sandwich. Don't bother, even if your pool side... Great views from inside and early morning breakfast, make sure you request to sit outside to enjoy the air and the view. read more

For dessert: PB Bombe with chocolate, peanut butter, macadamia nuts, cracker jack popcorn. Oh my goodness everything was absolutely PERFECT!! They provided complimentary bread, and we started off with the two drink cocktails offered that evening (sorry, I forgot names!), but they were refreshing. Ordered the elements soup, which was delicious - they make a show out of it by pouring it from a gray boat. For entrees, we ordered the sea bass and pork chop. Miso-Glazed Chilean Sea Bass was delicious, as was the Double Bone Duroc Pork Chop, although the latter was a bit hard to dig into. For dessert, we split the panna cotta, which was alright. The Little Leaf, $17 - Mezcal and cucumber with cilantro, cumin and jalapeño! Now, I love mezcal and cilantro separately. Who knew that they would taste so delicious together! This drink is light and refreshing, a bit spicy and so good! Definitely get it! The staff were all so nice! Our waiter was BEYOND amazing, 5 months later I can't remember his name. He even recommended other places for my friend and I to try. The food... we came for food! But mainly ALL THEE APPETIZERS! We couldn't decide on 1 or 2, so we ordered about 6! The jumbo shrimp, the Mac & Cheese, the truffle tries, the bread, the broccolini! All bangers! WE were super stuffed and couldn't figure out how we would manage to also eat the dessert we ordered! They are a high end restaurant that can accommodate many allergens. Primarily gluten free. They have an amazing selection of wines, especially for not having a sommelier. They had many options for gluten free sides and main dishes. We started with the Moon Rock Oregon Oysters, ask for them plain, they're super clean and melon like. For dinner, I had the sea bass and my husband had the scallops. Both were cooked perfectly and tasted divine. For our side we did the umami mushrooms, I highly recommend them. Very savory and flavorful. They had a few dessert items, but we were stuffed from dinner. Therefore, we opted for the dragon fruit gelato. It was excellent, not too sweet and not too tart. We stayed at Sanctuary for a few nights early in November. So, we had the pleasure of enjoying Elements a few times... once for dinner and several times for breakfast. Every occassion was Fantastic! All of the servers and assistants were professional and kind. Some were even quite funny which is also very refreshing. I enjoy when people can be entertaining without even trying. Dinner was lovely! We were seated in a corner booth which really was a great seat. We could view most of the dining area as well as out beyond the full length glass windows (had it not been pitch black outside.) Plus, it felt romantic to be in the corner kind of set apart from everyone. The dining vibe is definitely upscale, resort. Definitely a "let's get 'Dressed' for dinner" kind of place. All of the staff was wearing masks and abiding by the Covid guidelines. The food was exceptional.... dinner was a definitely Fine Dining! Dinner options included a couple of different fish, chicken, pork, steak and a vegetarian entree for non-meat eaters. The 2 fish entrees we enjoyed were beautifully plated and perfectly prepared. D-LISH! Oh! For a starter, I'd highly recommend the handmade postickers! So good they just melt in your mouth. And the Farmer's Market salad is not a pedestrian green salad.... it's got a lot going on! I loved the soy sesame vinaigrette. I wish they would bottle that so I could take it home. YUM! I also suggest you speak with your server for wine pairing suggestions. Ours was able to pair wines with our appetizers versus different wines for our entrees. We also enjoyed several breakfasts too on the patio (overlooking the pool.) Every breakfast was lovely! I especially enjoyed the Avocado Toast with the eggs poached. Get the eggs poached. Trust me. Much better than fried. Oh! I also really really liked the Smoked Salmon and Bagel dish. The salmon was smoked but not so smoky that it tasted like a campfire. And they give you plenty to share. I couldn't eat it all myself; I shared with the hubby. OH! And how could I forget..... Their vanilla latte made with Oat milk was THE BEST I've ever had. I wanted another one but was good and limited myself to just 1. But seriously.... THE BEST! Net Net.... This is the second time that I've eaten at this restaurant. Each time was a special occasion. This time it was my mom's 70th birthday, which I requested a nice table with a window view and they gave us a table in the middle...when I saw them giving a bunch of other people with our same party size better tables that they added a chair to make the table work. We got screwed on the view re request. They could've easily done that for our special occasion, but they chose not to. Each time I've been there The service is extremely slow and they don't even clear off dirty plates! They are not very attentive at all. They didn't even refill my coffee or our waters! I had already spoken to somebody over the phone and requested that my mom get the complementary birthday cake and the waitress asked if any of us wanted dessert and we said no assuming that I had already spoken to somebody and they were gonna bring out the cake which never happened. I had to go ask for it! Just overall not a great experience. I would suggest going to a Different Point of View, if you want a restaurant with a view or even just going to Hillstone, if you want better food! I won't be returning. read more

When you have a special occasion, the perfect meal is in order. Last night was my birthday and we couldn't have picked a more perfect place than Elements at Sanctuary on Camelback! When a restaurant has a change in Executive Chefs because the one that had been at the helm for 20+ years moves on, often that restaurant never lives up to it's reputation. That is not the case here! The return of Gregory James to the Valley after stints in Napa and the Maryland shore (where he won Best Chef in Maryland!) has assured this iconic restaurant will continue to shine brightly. We had so many amazing dishes it is hard to know where to start! We were given a sneak peek at some of the upcoming menu changes, and we were just wowed! The Corn Gazpacho was a light and refreshing Amuse Bouche that set the tone for what was to come. Then Onion Dip with Caviar and homemade chips. I could have licked the bowl! Never a fan of beets until last night when the Cold Beet Salad arrived, I don't know what Chef did to these beets, but they were amazing! Bright and crisp with just the right amount of acid and little pops of crunch! I was instantly a fan! Beef Carpaccio is a favorite of mine and this version was spectacular! Chef shaved a copious amount of truffles on top to give it that over the top touch. Delicious! My husband inhaled his Oysters on the half shell with gusto! By the tine our entrees arrived we were wondering how we could possibly eat another bite. But when a filet is so tender and cooked to perfection, I had to dive right in. Hubby attacked his perfectly seared scallops leaving not a scrap. The various veggies that accompanied our meal were each special in their own way. The mushrooms were my favorite. One thing is for sure, you can't go wrong with anything on this menu. The lovely birthday dessert treat was incredible! I am a caramel fanatic, so the Dulce De Leche Cheesecake was right up my alley! Hubby was drooling over The Donut (AKA Death by Chocolate) which was rich and molten on the inside. Nothing is special without impeccable service and our server Steve and his assistant (Devin?) were the best! Thank you! I am so happy to know this restaurant will continue to be a bright light in the AZ food scene as the Chef continues to tweak the menu to make it his own. My in-laws were in town last week and, last minute, we decided to check out Elements. They didn't have any reservations for dinner, so we popped in at lunch. Elements is located at a hotel, Sanctuary Camelback Mountain. It's situated at the top of the hotel property, set into the backside of Camelback Mountain. They have valet parking, but there is a self-park lot below that you can park and walk up to the restaurant. Masks are required when not seated. We sat on the patio, which overlooks away from Camelback Mountain. You have views of their infinity pool at the hotel, the rooftop of the hotel, and houses scattered through the hills in that section of the valley. Our waiter was very nice, and offered great service! The food was good. The burger was buttery and the fries had a little spice on them, which was really good! Everyone enjoyed their salads. Though, honestly, a bit overpriced. Salads/Burgers all-around $16-$22. This seems like a great dinner spot, but not worth the value for lunch. That's the only reason they get dinged on the stars. read more

My wife had foie gras with a strawberry rendition that she was still talking about the next day I was so excited to see someone had muscles on the menu that were not from Prince Edward Island. Normally, we wouldn't order grass fed steak, but that was the only options and the ribeye was outstanding My wife's not one for mac & cheese, but she said there's was one of the best she ever had. Personally, the truffle fries were a little over salted for my liking and the carrots had way too much black pepper for my wife.
