First time there tonight. Oh BOY, was that a mistake! Two of us had the meatloaf, the third person had the seafood pasta. BEST meatloaf I have *ever* had...truly outstanding. There were slivers of carrots in the very tender loaf, adding a lovely crunch. And a beautiful crust on the outside. Served with mashed potatoes...creamy, buttery(!) and perfectly seasoned. The veggies were steamed...bok choy, Brussels sprouts, broccoli & carrots...perfect doneness. The mushroom gravy. Have I mentioned it yet? Well, I had to ask for a spoon, because I didn't want to miss a single drop of it. My only negative is that there were only 2 tiny 'shrooms in it. But it was incredible. One of my favorite places to eat in the area. Tonight my mom and I had the filet mignon, soft shell crab and the scallops and shrimp with a glass of wine each. OMG. Just amazing. My picky mom had soft shell crab for the first time and fell in love. I have never seen her so impressed w an appetizer. She always gets the filet mignon here which she craves but having her experience something new and loving it, was great! The sauces for each dish make the meal amazing in my opinion. We went to Elements last night. Enjoyed the house salad, my sister enjoyed the butternut squash soup. I ordered the Prawns & Scallop Risotto. Although I liked the dish there are a few things I had not expected, the risotto is t actually risotto... more like sticky rice with cheese in it. I also thought the zucchini pieces were oversized for the dish. My sister had the special lemon grass herb crusted sea bass with mixed veggies and black rice. The fish was nice, not as firm as sea bass usually is but it was not under. Veggies were a bit too al dente. Service was good, although I did ask about the risotto and how I liked it and was told it was great. Also ask for pricing on the specials. read more

Elements is located in Almaden Valley and they've been around for a while. We dined at their other location years back and thought we'd try them out again. We called in for reservations and when we arrived, they couldn't find them. No big deal, we were seated right away. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service started out good but as the place got busier, the service turned to non-existent. It took a very long while to get our entrees after the calamari appetizer and when they finally came out, it was just meh. The presentation and portions were quite nice but a lot of the flavors just didn't mesh well with our tastes. I would say the Vietnamese beef stew was the best dish out of all our orders. The beef was very tender and had good flavor. Since our server disappeared on us, we asked a busser to clear our plates and requested a dessert menu. The thing really turned us off was when she was clearing our plates, she took one of the plates and scrapped all off their leftovers onto my husband's plate right in front of him. There was a mound of someone else's eaten food on his plate. It was a huge turn off to say the least. We left without having dessert after that. This time the gravy was watery and swimming in it on the bottom. The , Mash potatoes were delicious. The veggies need more flavor. I have been a customer of Elements since 2008 when they were in a different location. Tristan the owner and his family and staff do a great job delivering high quality food with solid service consistently. They have a nice wine selection with reasonable mark ups. This week I tried Elements for take out - ordering through their website was easy, I called to confirm they received the order. I had the Pho with Chicken and the Water Dumplings with Pork. The Pho was delicious with high quality broth and condiments basil, jalapeño and bean sprouts). The dumplings were great too. A nice alternative to other Pho places for take out. Not sure if they offer Pho and sandwiches for in person dining in the evening. So call to check if you want Pho for dinner. read more

Came here to support a small business, left wanting this small business to go out of business. Their health code needs to be deranked. First of all, there's not a lot of patrons for a reason. I should have taken that as a red flag. Second of all, a lot of their dishes are way too pricey of what you can get easily elsewhere (we live so close to east San jose). Third of all, the food took forever to come out and we were just sitting around for a long time. While we were waiting, apparently another previous patron came in upset that they overcharged him for his meal and got into a little confrontation with the manager. That should've been another red flag. Fourth and most important, I was eating mashed potatoes and found a live gnat in there. I squished it and called the waiter over and he went to examine it, the mashed potato slid off the knife back into the food and it was hard to see with all the other spices and seeds. He then immediately goes "I don't think that was a gnat." And walks away. Lol what?? How can you say anything when you didn't even look at it? I paid $$$$ for these Lasik 20/20 eyes, bucko. I saw the gnat stuck in the mashed potatoes, with the wings flapping trying to get out. Plus the rest of my family saw it too. Then of course for the rest of the night, he avoided our table and continued to charge for the dish as if nothing happened and even though half of it wasn't eaten. At the end of it all, I didn't need the meal to be comped or re-made. I just wanted acknowledgement and for a small apology and the plate to be taken back. Instead, I got gaslit and avoided. I was so delighted by the last minute decision to go here. This was really outstanding French Vietnamese fusion. The service was impeccable and the presentation was superb. Really! If you are Lin Almaden do not miss out. We had the Vietnamese spider rolls off the menu and the grilled beef wrapped like a sushi roll in a rice noodle crepe with grapefruit essence. Elements has been our favorite neighborhood restaurant since they first opened years ago. They started lunch service during Covid but a couple days ago was the first time I went there for lunch. I ordered the Duck Noodle Soup. It was sooo flavorful and perfect! And it reminded me of the Cantonese Roasted Duck that I grew up with. In all honesty, I have never had a bad meal at Elements. I'm in Silicon Valley this evening. I'm on Almaden Expy. I've been meaning to do this a long time. It looks modern, classy, and clean in here. I like my Tartare and Carpaccio made with fish. I had an Ahi Tuna Carpaccio. This is a great take on Carpaccio. It uses some ingredients that I'm very familiar with. The Ahi Tuna was fresh. There's so much contrast in flavors. I know what a Beef Wellington is. But who knows what a Salmon Wellington is? This is a genius creation. It consists of Salmon, Spinach, Bell Pepper, and Lemon Beurre Blanc. When I heard Beurre Blanc, I was like oh that sounds French, that sounds luxurious. It takes longer to prepare like 45 minutes, but worth the time. This is between Italian, British, and French cuisine. It looks almost too good to dig in. The Puff Pastry is intricate, delicate, buttery, and crunchy. The Salmon is cooked to perfection. The Asparagus, Zucchini, and other Veggies accompanied the dish well. The Sauce wasn't heavy at all, light, not overpowering, and gives a hint of lemon. I also got a Guava Juice, and it actually taste like Guava. I was thinking this was going to be a 4.3 stars, but I give this 4.4 stars. read more

I had dinner last night on my first trip to Elements and it will definitely not be my last. My wife took me there and I went with no knowledge of the restaurant and had no expectations. The restaurant is in a strip mall and doesn't look like much from the outside but it is very pleasant inside. The décor is pleasant, the lighting was nice, the music was low and enjoyable and the art work on the walls was very nice. Looking at the menu for the first times I saw lots of things I wanted. There were all sorts of great dishes. The wine list was also very nice, it provided a good variety of wines both by the glass and by the bottle. The wine prices were reasonable as well compared to other places I've eaten. We ended up having the Five Spice Rotisserie Quails and the Vietnamese Spider Rolls for our appetizers. Both were excellent. The quail was well seasoned, flavorful, tender and moist. The spider rolls had a good amount of soft shell crab in them and the sauce for them had a nice level of spice. Both appetizers went well with the Rose I had ordered and the Riesling that my wife had. For our main dishes my wife had the Salmon Wellington and I had the Tea-Smoked Duck w/ Taro Au Gratin. Once again both were excellent. The lemon beurre blanc that came with the salmon was perfect for the dish, rich, creamy and with just enough lemon to enhance the salmon without overpowering it. The duck was some of the best duck I've ever had. I love duck when it's cooked and served excellently and this duck definitely was. It was full of flavor, lightly rare, tender and delicious. The taro au gratin matched well with the duck and the cranberry reduction worked well with the duck and the au gratin. We had this with a Zinfandel from the wine menu and that was the perfect pairing for the meal. We finished up by sharing a creme brulee which was very nice. The burnt sugar topping was nicely thin and the creme had a wonderful vanilla flavor to it. Our waiter and his helper were both very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed during our meal there. We're looking forward to our next visit to Elements. There are so many more dishes on the menu we'd like to try. read more

We went to Elements for the first time. I ordered scallops and prawns with soft shell crab and a Chardonnay. My husband ordered the combination vermicelli with prawns, pork and egg roll. The restaurant was clean, had friendly staff, and was decorated fine. My husband's vermicelli was a 4 out of 5. The pork was juicier than usual places and the seasoning was good. My scallops and prawns, while not overcooked, were not seared and seemed to be unseasoned. I added salt, but it's not the same as cooking with seasoning. I requested lemon and melted butter, but it also didn't make too much of a difference to the flavor since it wasn't cooked with seasoning. I would hesitantly go again to support local family owned restaurants, but I left a bit sad from the experience which was just under $100 with tip. read more
