Wow! The food here is fabulous! I had them cater a meal after my father-n-laws funeral. I received so many comments about how great the food was, it was amazing. I got comments like, "I've been to weddings that didn't have food this good!" It was kind of funny. When I saw "cookie tray" on the email, it didn't sound so great to me. I called and added a tray of canolli. They were so nice about it. But, so many people commented on how great the cookies were too. I couldn't try them because I'm gluten intolerant. Because of that, most of the entrees I ordered were GF. It was all fantastic! It's probably not the least expensive place to get catering but it's not overly expensive either. But, you won't be sorry! I'd rather spend a little more and hear rave reviews on the food I serve. Thanks guys! Great job! read more

Got focaccia bread from the eggs craft fair Sunday November 3rd. Couldn't wait to get home. The lady told me $23, the man charged me $25, then with tax came out to $27 for two focaccia breads. They better be delicious. Well Quattro formaggi is my fave of all time, but it was nothing to write home about. It made the whole house smell awful. There were no cooking directions so I just heated it up... The cheese wasn't fully melted after 13ins at 350!!! Odd. Maybe I'd give another chance but totally uninterested for now. read more

Elena's is the real deal. I'd never know they existed if it were not for Yelp. My boyfriend loves them even more than me. Sandwiches are excellent. I always get the Italian, extra balsamic. Sandwiches are large and substantial. Meats are fresh and tasty. Bread is homemade and packs in a lot of flavor. A good tip is to call ahead to order before you go. read more

This place is easy to overlook but well worth taking the time to locate it and get some lunch. When we walked there was a line but it moved pretty fast. We ordered Mario's Italian sub and focaccia. The Italian sub had all the classic meats, mortadella, genova salami, spicy capicollo and provolone cheese. My significant other immediately declared it was the best sub sandwich he has ever had. The focaccia was also outstanding. The portions are huge and the prices are incredibly affordable. It's great to see owners so hands-on, passionate and proud of everything they make! read more

Elena's--awesome as ever! Elena catered for a bridal shower that I hosted at home and the food was wonderful! Everything was freshly prepared that morning. I should have ordered extra! Everyone went for seconds on the chicken and lasagna and continued noshing on the focaccia even after desert was served (lemon cookies-which were to die for!). I recently discovered Elena's foccacias at the Farmer's market at Daley Plaza. The first time I saw their booth, this woman was literally jumping up and down was raving about how delicious these little foccacia "pies" were. I asked her did she heat them and she said you can, but she just eats hers room temperature. Well I bought one and as a previous reviewer said....LOVE AT FIRST BITE!!!. I looked her up on the Internet because I just HAVE to know how to get more of the food she cooks. initially I ate the foccacias at work at room temperature. Yesterday, I bought 5 of them so I would have some extra to bring home. As good as they are at room temperature.....heated in the oven....I just don't know what to say!!! I can't remember when I have had ANYTHING as good as those focaccias out of the oven. Buttery, flaky, OMG!!!! Believe me, Elena's will be my "go-to" for any personal catering needs I have in the future. read more

Me and my wife visited this place last week and they could not have been more accommodating. We were in the mood for a calzone but did not notice it on the menu. Thank you Yelp!!!! A couple of weeks ago my weekly Yelp email highlighted local deli's and Elena's was at the top of the list. However despite living in the Roselle area for over 20 years, I had never heard of the place or noticed it when driving on Lake street. Boy am I glad that I read the review! My wife and I were headed to Ravinia last night and decided to give Elena's a try. Since almost all of the Yelp reviews were 5 stars, didn't seem like much of a risk. This is not a fast food joint. They prepare everything fresh while you wait so don't expect a drive thru like experience. Bottom line the food was great! Fresh everything! There are not that many items on the menu which is good because I think that I ordered one of everything. If I have had any sandwich in my life that was as good as the Italian Focaccia sandwich I can't remember it. We also got an Italian sub, a caprese sub, antipasto salad, fish salad, a quart of marinara and the lemon cookies. Elena herself prepared the sandwiches and salad while we waited. She was delightful and very helpful. While waiting we enjoyed the family decor, the picture of her grand daughter sitting in the pasta pan very cute! I could not recommend Elena's highly enough and plan to go back soon and try some of the hot dishes! read more

Went here for lunch with some coworkers and my boss. It's pretty small inside, but luckily enough we were the only ones there at the time. A majority of the guys got the Italian sandwich, one got a meatball sandwich and I got the caprese. I can't fully speak for the other people, but I heard no complaints and it seemed like everyone thoroughly enjoyed their lunches!!! I got the 6" caprese since I didn't want to be too full (everyone else got the bigger sandwich size and ended up bringing some home). My sandwich was great! Everything tasted so fresh and the bread had the perfect soft interior with a little crunch on the outside. The oil and basil mix added a crisp flavor that really kicked it up. After lunch, one of the guys had gotten some of the soft lemon cookies and shared them. They were so soft!! They didn't crumble in your hands, but right when they hit the inside of your mouth the whole cookie would just melt in your mouth. What a delightful end to lunch! read more

I live in the city and work out in Glendale Heights, and I have to say I haven't found anywhere in the city that makes nearly as good of a sandwich as these guys. Everything I have is great, especially live the Salvatore. Only thing that has ever come close in my opinion is Zingerman's in Ann Arbor, and they're totally different places, just a similar level of quality and deliciousness. read more

Love this place! No matter who is working when I walk in the door, they are always warm, friendly, and helpful. Everything is homemade and I've never had a single complaint about anything I've ever had there. Cookies, focaccia pizza, pasta, and they make one kickass American sub sandwich! No Subway style where they cheap out on all the good stuff and load up on the lettuce, these sandwiches are stuffed full of delicious deli meat and cheese! I usually order Italian beef dry so that the bread does not turn to mush, but being the first time I had it here I decided to try it with the juice. I was on my way home from Westmont and had a taste for a "real" sub-sandwich. I just passed Elena's Deli and for some reason turned around and said that's the place. I was ever so happy to turn around. Best sub I've had in a very long time - as every one states they make it fresh - cut the meat & cheese while you wait. Before leaving I couldn't resist getting something from the display case and ordered the mushroom ravioli. OMG - I had it for dinner tonight and it was something that I'm going to have to come back to have again. Bacon, spinach, and creme sauce made the dish so good. Oh my. I found out about Elenas from a woman while we were both waiting for our radiation treatment. I didn't know her but we both love food. She said they have the best meatball sandwiches. Was she right. My husband and I ordered a meatball and an Italian sub sandwich. I cannot tell you which one we liked more. Now I am a little picky when I go to Italian restaurants because I am Italian and I know good Italian. This food was great Italian. Even the bread was fantastic. And the best part was the service.
