Food is unbelievably tasteful. Lots of great food, big Italian portions. Just wish their operation of hours were longer.

I purchased Elena's homemade cheese raviolis for my New Year's Day dinner. They are amazing. They taste so much like my Mom's homemade Raviolis and everybody at dinner loved them. Working on a nearby construction project. Came to town from Dallas and didn't know where to eat (other than the usual suspects). Saw the reviews for Elena's and thought I'd give it a try. I almost face yo aster I drove by twice, but I'm glad I didn't. Hard to find, but it's like a hidden treasure. I had the Italian roast beef sandwich. It would have been good with just the roll it can on. But the huge attack of roast beef put it way over the top. Highly recommend. I'll be back! read more

Wow. Just freakin wow. Had the Italian sub and beef salad and it was easily the best meal I've had in months. 6" sub is an understatement, that sandwich was huge and delicious. Their cooler was also filled with many amazing things including stuffed peppers and freakishly large artichokes. Staff was extremely friendly, happy to walk a newbie through the menu. I've been there twice now and everything has been really good. You can tell they buy all ingredients fresh and make it from scratch. The first time I had a 2 sandwiches to-go and a caprese salad. We liked the caprese and Italian sub more than the meatball sandwich but it was still good. The caprese was my favorite. The second time we ordered the beef and pasta catering combo. Everyone at the party loved it. The beef was great. They include sweet and hot peppers plus enough bread for days. I think everyone at the party was low carbing it bc we were left 90% of the bread. People took home a lot of the pasta which was also tasty. The workers are friendly and it seems like a genuine Italian family owned deli/catering. I plan on using them for catering my next event. Preparing food yourself for a party is just too much work and they do a fantastic job at reasonable prices. Try them out for a lunch or dinner and then go back for your next party. read more

The reviews weren't wrong!! The "Mario" Italian sandwich had great taste and an even balance of bread and meat! Wife had the Meatball Sub and was just as good! Nice and moist meatballs and great marinara sauce made for a sandwich we will more then likely order again!! Not the easiest to see from the street (why we never knew it existed till seeing it on Yelp)... but now that we know it's there, this will be a regular place to eat for sure!! read more

I had the misfortune of ordering from this place and would never order from them again. We called in a pickup order, gave them credit card information over the phone. When we picked up the order the RUDE lady told us she told me to bring in credit card, never did, lied about it. Menu online was $120, charged $130, questioned her and she said prices change. I have tried so many Italian sandwiches, subs, hoagies on Italian bread, French loaves, sourdough bread, Gonnella, Turano yet I keep returning here to eat that and more. Located in a small industrial area with some one-way traffic, the parking is pretty easy but making left turns in and out of Lake Street can be a little rough. There are a couple of glass cases inside with 2 small tables with 4 total chairs. But in the back is where the magic happens. Fresh baked made in-house bread. Balsamic vinegar on sandwiches to add more flavor. Pesto to elevate the caprese sandwich. I am not a vegetarian but decided to run through the gauntlet of sandwiches and tried the eggplant parmesan. Their son Mario mentioned their top 3 selling sandwiches being the Mario's Italian, Salvatore's prosciutto and bocconcini, and Elena's caprese, but the eggplant parm is one very underrated star on their menu. Thinly sliced and lightly breaded but full of flavor. We also took home some arancini which are smaller than others so you get more crunch for the bite. The large focaccia have a crispy bottom but soft interior that is so enjoyable on its own. They gave us a sample of tomato and garlic knots which were also phenomenal. Anytime we are within 15 minutes of the area, we stop in for a meal or to re-supply our kitchen. read more

Let me preface this review by saying that I've never actually written a yelp review before. This place was so charming and delicious I had to do this. I was on going my lunch break and yelped a few places and found this deli. A sandwich sounded nice so I went searching for it. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised. This place is definitely a hidden gem! As soon as I walked in I immediately felt welcome, they explained the menu and their case of freshly made pastas and meatballs. I ordered a 6 inch sub and a little bit of homemade pasta. I watched them make my sub and all the meet was freshly sliced. While I waited the owner brought out some baked eggplant on a plate for me to try. Once I got in the car, the pasta smelled so good that I actually had to stop and try it on the way back to the office. It was SO good I couldn't stop eating it. Definitely one of the best turkey sandwiches I've had! The bread was nice and warm, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside! I could tell it was recently baked. The Pesto spread complemented the turkey like the sun complements the day! I also added giardinara peppers and that was the kicker! Will be back if I'm around the area. read more

Hard to find but worth it. I entered and had to let someone know I was there.... Maybe the door should chime when opened? It comes off as a catering place much more so than a place to grab a sandwich. After I looked around the corner I saw several people prepping food and I then asked for help. adorable place that's hidden but definitely should be more well known. if you want to dine in, you have the choice between like 3 tables, it's not that big, but i would definitely recommend their foccacia pizza! delicious and fresh, love their sausage it has great flavor. no tomato sauce, there are fresh tomatoes on top. like every says- lemon cookie. get it. it's like a scone and cookie fooled around and the icing tastes like italian ice in frosting form mmm...maaah gaah. family here is amazing, and very nice =] read more

This place is incredible. I've been there once and the only thing I've tried so far was the Focaccia Pizza. The crust had a little crunch on the outside and perfectly soft in the middle with just the right amount of seasoning/oil. It's clear the food is made with love and all the ingredients are really fresh. We need less Subways and more places like this. read more

Outstanding Italian food - I've enjoyed everything I've ever ordered from Elena's, especially the focaccia pizza and lemon cookies. I'm no cook and yet I enjoy having friends over for a good meal and Elena's meals to go are always excellent. I first discovered Elena's at the farmers market at Daley Plaza in Chicago. They would often be sold out of the focaccia pizzas by Noon. They also attend the Schaumburg Farmer's Market every Friday. The Roselle restaurant isn't easy to locate, but one you find it I'm sure you return over and over. read more

This deli, which I has to try with a friend because of the fantastic Yelp reviews, absolutely blew me away. I tried the Italian sub and it was the best sandwich I've ever eaten. The bread was warm, but with the crackle that signifies a great loaf of bread. I saw the meat and cheese being sliced on the spot for my sandwich and the ingredients were absolutely superb. Plus, kudos for thick cut cheese that I could taste in every delicious bite, made even more perfect with the occasional infusion of sweet balsamic and oil. I topped off the meal with a lemon cookie which put every other lemon cookie I've ever eaten to shame. You can't go wrong here. It is very small, only two tables to sit and eat-and you wait a few minutes because these folks are busy getting getting large orders together. Still-they manage to get you out pretty quickly. Food is top quality and made Nana Style in the kitchen. Excellent subs, salads, and homemade hot meals of the day.
