This place is super close to me (2 min car ride) and thank goodness for that. When I'm in the mood for something spicy, I opt for Elephant Thai. My favorite thing to order is the Thum-ka-noon which is pounded jackfruit, ground pork, tomatoes, and a bunch of spices. It's served with raw cabbage (to quell the fire when you order it spicy). It does not come with rice so I always throw that in too. It's ultra flavorful and delicious. My husband usually gets the pad see ew, with which you can't go wrong, and my 2 year old daughter loves the chicken satay. The staff is really nice and the restaurant is clean. I've had this place a few times but still is a little pricey for me. I have always liked their food and usually get one of three items. The spicy fried rice, Tom Kah Kai Soup, (thai Iced tea) or Pad Thai. Each of these items are worth getting in my book. They are right about 90% of the time getting their order right. If you can't handle spicy and one of your friends orders a mild and the other very hot, they may switch up which gets the spice. I normally don't get pad thai but this is the only place I get it. It was my favorite place to go for Thai boat noodles it was the best. I always ordered the same thing every time I go which is Thai boat noodles. But this time I was craving papaya salad and me being Thai & Cambodian I like it authentic it wasn't how I like it missing lots of ingredients like long string beans & mini salty shrimps or even salty crabs. I think I make a better papaya salad at home. And I ordered stuffed angel wings wow! 2 wings for $10 not worthy it was dried & I'm not sure if they deep fried it or baked but it was hard I didn't want to waste food so I feed it to my dogs. What a disappointment I wanted to treat myself to a Mother's Day dinner & support our local business but the quality of food wasn't there at all . I eat out a lot so I'm a food critic I love food . You can't go wrong with the entrees at this Thai place! Ambiance: The restaurant is very clean looking, quiet, and has very nice lighting. We had no trouble parking in the lot but it is probably busier during the day. Food: The three of us ordered multiple entrees to share family style and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed Tom Kai soup, Yellow curry, Duck curry, and Pad Thai (aka...we arrived VERY hungry!!). The soup was my favorite because of it's sour and unique flavor. Came in on a Sunday night and we were seated right away. The food was GREAT, however the customer service was not as good. We waited almost 30-40 minutes for our food. It seemed like the server forgot our order and you could imagine our frustration when everyone around us (2 tables of 2 and 1 table of 6) got their food before us, even though we were seated and ordered before them. Also, the servers would not assist us until we either asked or made eye contact. We ordered Yellow Curry and Beef Panang. They were so delicious. Ordered thai food for an office birthday lunch and it was amazing! Our office ordered a variety of entrees including pad thai, pad see ew, beef broccoli, bbq pork, orange chicken, fried rice, and a couple curry dishes. Im not a fan of curry in general so I didn't try those dishes but my favorites were the pad sew ew and the bbq pork! The bbq pork was well seasoned and perfectly cooked! I visited this restaurant on a weekday, and it wasn't too crowded. There is parking at the back of the restaurant, which made it very convenient for me to stop by for a quick lunch. The prices are reasonable. The flavor of the yellow curry was good, but it's a little bit more watery than I like. So I didn't end up getting to try the food BUT will be trying again soon. I placed an order and didn't realize it was for pickup instead of delivery. I didn't have a car and couldn't get to the restaurant so I called to let them know because I was hoping someone at the restaurant would eat it. I mentioned that I was not requesting any refund just didn't want it to go to waste. The staff was really nice and tried to help think of ideas -- it didn't work out I'm getting the food but shortly after I got a notification that they requested a refund through Grubhub for me. Regional Thai done so very well. Simple venue, nothing fancy, just go for the authentic food. The lunch special menu looked very simple, maybe even a little dumbed down. The a la carte menu proved to be the way to go. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and when I started questioning what was really good - and different - they started pushing the northern Thai dishes. I ended up with a northern Thai style larb. More savoury than the eastern/Isan style larb, there was no sourness but plenty of flavour, crunchy roasted rice and zing from the chill. The fresh herbs were amazing. My colleagues had similarly positive experiences. There was a northern Thai egg noodle and chicken curry - lots of delicious sauce that would be worth taking home to pour over rice and reheat. The other diner had a northern style noodle soup, great vermicelli noodles, pickles and pork cracklings to garnish. Whilst in the LBC yesterday (Sunday), I was craving Thai food, so I navigated over to Elephant Thai Kitchen to grab a to-go order. I ordered egg-rolls appetizer, and pad-thai chicken with delicious peanut sauce (yum!) and lad naw (or however you spell it) noodles with chicken. Everything was fine. No issues. When I got home, I discovered a mystery meal in my bag with some sort of sausages, a wedge of what I'm assuming is iceberg lettuce and some sliced ginger. I have no idea what it was, no idea if I paid for it or what. My bill was $45, which seems a little high for 2 appetizers and one entre. It would be super nice if they had cold beer and/or wine available while you wait for your to-go order. OH well. There are equal-quality Thai restaurants near me, so I'll just stay local, but if I happen to be on the West Side of Long Beach, may grab some curry plates to go. Thanks! read more

Got food poisoning after eating Pad Thai with chicken. Still suffering from the after effects and I'm behind at work because of it. How am I sure it was the pad Thai with chicken? - SO and I had the exact same lunch during the day (we don't eat breakfast, lunch is our first meal) - For dinner SO had yellow curry with chicken, while I had pad Thai with chicken - pad Thai with chicken had some pieces of chicken that tasted off, but I shrugged it off and thought maybe they just had mixed flavors from another dish (fatal mistake - always stop eating if you think something is off with the food) Had it Wednesday night for dinner and started shivering uncontrollably around 4AM/5AM next morning. Felt nauseous, weak, and sore. Wanted to throw up (which I did, was gross). Didn't want to write this, esp as we tend to eat take out from here once a week - but I'm so put off by eating out now (esp Thai food) and I've been spending most of my time in the bathroom or in bed. Elephant Thai Kitchen is one of the best Thai food places in SoCal, hands down. I fly in/out of Long Beach Airport frequently, so after long and weary trips, I often stop by here to eat lunch or dinner, and I've never been disappointed. I'm always greeted with a warm smile and courteous service. The food is authentic and always delicious. Every dish I've ever ordered has always come out piping hot and in generous servings. My personal favorites are the pad see ew and the green curry. Tasty dishes with good flavor. The dishes are a little on the small side and not to mention very spicy. Waitress was super sweet and friendly. My sister and I both got the Pad See Eww (vegetarian) and loved it. We also ordered the Som Tum and asked for all of our food to be very spicy and they did not disappoint. The salad was great and helped cool the spice down from the noodles. We both love spicy food and really enjoyed the flavor and heat, something that's hard to find. At first glance of the building , I was skeptical about what others have said but man was I wrong! I ordered the Pad See Ew vegan (tofu instead of meat and no egg) wow was I impressed. We live in Palm Springs and were in town to hang out near the ocean for the weekend. A friend of ours wanted Thai / viet food. We looked on yelp and found this hidden gem. Food was hot and fresh, flavorful and pretty. Our 2 little boys ran around and the waitress was cool enough not to get upset that our rambunctious lil ones were teasing the fish in the tank (I swore I'd never be one of those parents) either way, the food was on point and I don't think you'll be disappointed or dissatisfied w the food, flavors or price point.
