This is the go-to Sunday brunch spot for my girlfriend & I. The food has never disappointed us in the slightest & 99% of the staff is very friendly. We only have one complaint; Judy. We've given this waitress the benefit of the doubt several times, thinking maybe she had a bad day the last time, but she is consistently the reason our brunch would be ruined. She'll take my order & try to walk away before my girlfriend orders, forgets items we've ordered, has snide remarks, and rolls her eyes or sighs like we're an inconvenience if we ask for a bit of coffee. The last few visits have been wonderful because we specifically request not to be put in her section. When asked if Eli's is elite, I would absolutely say yes. The menu is huge and the food was super. All day breakfast, eggs were cooked perfectly and they were on the ball with coffee refills. The one thing that was kind of weird was that they had mini tv's at the table that only showed Rachel Ray. We know because we tried to switch the channel to ESPN, since it was the day after the Super Bowl but after a while even Rachel grew on us. And we learnt how to make blinds with a 2 by 4 and burlap sack. Overall it was a great breakfast! read more

This place is a really good place to grab something to eat that will fill you up, taste good, and not completely empty your wallet! The staff was really friendly ans so was our server. She did seem to have a little lapse from time to time but nothing to really complain about. This restaurant must either be fairly new or just kept up impeccably. I had a Malibu chicken sandwich. It was chicken, Swiss cheese and ham on a roll. It was very tasty but it was VERY close to being overcooked. They saved it! The potato soup was very good also. I was able to sample some of my wife's baked apple pancake and it was VERY good. It was definitely one of the better ones that I have tried. We had a great dinner here. My first experience here, together with my elderly aunt, was absolutely favorable and encourages us to come again. We were well-supplied with coffee and hot tea, and a little intimidated by the huge menu. Although the menu is logically set up, there are an awful lot of choices. We were having lunch on a week day, and we both ended up with crepes. Not too many places have such a large selection. I went with the French Opera Crepes, which were filled with bananas and hazelnut cream, topped with an awful lot of whipped cream with chocolate drizzled on top. Probably a thousand calories in every bite. I didn't care. Each one of those thousand calories tasted delicious. The aunt went with the Caramel Apple Crepes. She chose these because the menu said they were drizzled with pecans. When the crepes arrived, she was thrilled to find there were a lot of whole pecans. She enjoyed her food as much as I liked mine. Service was very quick and efficient. This restaurant handles a big lunchtime business, so the serving staff has got to be on their toes just to keep up. The aunt and I ended up lingering there for over an hour and a half. Our beverages were refilled regularly, and we felt absolutely no pressure to leave and free up a nice booth in the corner. We always come here before my husband gets his hair cut, so once every 3 months or so. They never disappoint. I've never had anything but breakfast here but it is fantastic. We realized that it had been about 35-45 min since we ordered and no food. Server apologized. We got out food and it was cold and not cooked all the way thru I had the Arlington Chicken. Not a place for a quick lunch. Tried to stop in with my S.O. and kids for a quick bite to eat and it was anything but. The server was incredibly unnatentive and forgot a few things we ordered. How does that happen? They wrote it down! We felt forgotten about and unable to leave. The food is ok but certainly nothing impressive. Good luck trying to get a refill if you're thirsty. This location is a mixed bag. I've been there a lot of times. I've had good food and bad food. I've had awesome servers, and I have had one with an attitude (an older lady with light hair). Sometimes, it gets so crowded and there's a long wait to get in. I would highly recommend the chocolate chip pancakes! The servings are large and it's so good! The burgers and steak fries are fine. I got a grilled cheese before that the cheese wasn't melted and my fries were cold. It took that waitress 10 minutes to return so I could ask her to fix it. My mother in law got the fried fish before and also the fried chicken. She did not like the fish but liked the chicken. The stuffed french texas toast was also mentionable! I've been there 3 times. The first time, I got chocolate chip pancakes. They were GREAT, the price was reasonable, and the service was good. The second time I went, I got grilled chees with fries The grilled cheese was skimpy, and the cheese inside was cold and unmelted. I told the waitress, and she popped it into the microwave. The steak fries were excellent. The service was poor, and it wasn't super busy. The last time I went, I got Monte Cristo French toast. It was pretty tasty and served at a good temperature. Price was sort of high for what you got. The waitress was gruff and not attentive overall. The restaurant was clean each time we went. I would return, but I would not order grilled cheese, and I would hope not to get Gruffy as my waitress. read more

I was in your restaurant on my way home to Sourhern Indiana was seated in the section of the funniest, pleasant more helpful server, Mickey. Her smile and friendliness was a ray of sunshine. I am in Marketing for a living and for over twenty years I have worked with Big Brands, as well as smaller family owned businesses. One thing I will say about people and the abilities to leave reviews is that most of the time it's a person's expectation that will prompt them to leave a bad review. What I mean about this is that Eli's Golden Apple IS a greasy sit-down. If you go there thinking you're going to get steak-house fair, and four star treatment, then the review isn't necessarily an HONEST review, and more so your expectation of what you thought you should have gotten. So, I wanted to provide an honest review. Lately, my husband and I have been doing this thing where we go out of our way to try new local places. We were driving home from work, and I saw a billboard with an all-you-can-eat rib special. I was hooked, even though I knew most likely the billboard's picture was a stock photo rather than Eli's actual food. I also thought it strange that I was going to a breakfast joint for a rib special. In any case, I thought I'd go ahead and give this spot a fair shake, and I was not disappointed at all. Their menu is kind of overwhelming, I will admit. Most sit-downs such as Eli have big enormous menus so it wasn't entirely a surprise. I was also pleasantly surprised that they have small television screens at some of the booths, but it's quaint because you can watch t.v. while you eat your meal. I think it would have been nicer if I could have selected what I wanted to watch, but their closed-circuit only allows for the stations they program and I think they had two running that day. So, we were seated and the waitress asked what we wanted to drink, we ordered and she came back to tell us the soups for the day as well as explain the specials including the all-you-can-eat rib special we came for. The reason this review isn't getting five stars is because upon telling us the soups the waitress went on to tell me how disgusting the cabbage soup was. I was a little taken back by that... but I ordered it anyways. It wasn't disgusting as she had said, it was actually really good. Then again, I'm a BIG fan of cabbage soup. Most likely the waitress is not. This is what I mean about being cautious of your opinion vs your expectation. You can easily destroy someone's business/reputation now a days. I don't think its fair. In any case, unlike what they waitress said about the soup- it was good. I think they're needs to be a little bit of retraining on the owner's part- but that's just my opinion So, the ribs came. They were tender, juicy fall off the bone. I was surprised and didn't regret ordering them. Even though it was all-you-can-eat, I only had one serving because their portions are decent. I was quite pleased with the experience, and their food. I have got to go back and get breakfast now... as their breakfast menu is also quite hefty. Ate here for the first time recently with a group of guys. It was Thursday night so the 4 of us got the all you can eat ribs. The ribs were good and the fries that came with were fresh and thick cut. For being what I consider a mom and pop style place the ribs are what you would expect, good but not great. They were certainly meaty, but had far too much sauce for my taste. This review is based entirely on breakfast, as that's the only meals I've eaten here. That said - the hubby & I simply love Eli's! It is our go-to spot for weekend breakfast. The food is wonderful & the service (with one or two rare exceptions) has always been warm, friendly & efficient. Portions are generous - I usually end up taking home a snack for later - and pricing is well within what I'd consider fair. An average breakfast for the two of us is usually about $21.00 (before tip). I do recommend getting there on the early side as they tend to have a wait after 9am. read more
