We had a four hour layover and this restaurant was close to our terminal. It's very classy but they do not turn anyone a way. The hosts were sweet and funny they had really great sense of humor. It didn't take long to be sat and our waiter was extremely personable which was nice. He offered up a suggestion for our appetizer and we all really liked his suggestion. Then for our food all of us pretty much hit up the burgers. I love Waygu so my youngest and I had the Waygu burger for me it had to many chilies on it but my son loved it. My oldest son had the Bacon Cheeseburger and he really liked it. My husband had the Spicy Steak Chili and with a little extra tortilla chips that chili was gone. I was a bit short with my server Ryan, because I was thirsty, and he took it in perfect stride! The experience was PERFECT and the food was EXCELLENT. Ryan kindly asked if we were in a hurry because I asked for my burger to be medium well, and that takes a lil longer. It's that attentiveness that I truly appreciate, especially at airport locations. Ryan also refilled my Diet Coke numerous times without my asking, which is also going the extra mile, in my opinion. I got here at about 7am and the staff were very friendly. I was seated and promptly greeted by Ryan who was an excellent waiter. I ordered the French toast with breakfast potatoes and coffee. Ryan let me know that it would take about 15 minutes to cook, which is very nice while dining at an airport. The food was great! Ryan frequently checked in and offered more coffee several times. The atmosphere of the restaurant was calm and peaceful, exactly what I wanted that early in the morning. The restaurant played smooth jazz type music which was very relaxing. Minutes later returned with the same cold food with 2-3 hot pieces on top. Do they really think people are that stupid? I wanted to like this place. The ambiance was okay it was not very clean service was rushed and slow at the same time, typical of an airport. We ordered the roasted pepper soup which I would NOT recommend it was bitter and barely edible. We also got a small dinner salad which was only okay. One of the main reasons we came we to get a sweet desert however all they had was ice cream. Again nothing to write home about. Food was cold, water was warm. From the outside it looks like a nice sit down restaurant, and since we had a 3 hour layover, we thought we'd try it. Waitress filled our glasses with room temperature water when we sat down. Came back to take our order and said the breakfast menu was wrapping up so we needed to order. I had the tomato and guacamole Benedict, and my husband had the breakfast plate. Took a while to get our food, and when we got it, it was barely warm. This may have been the best burger I've ever had. I never though that egg and green chili's would be so good on a burger, but the flavor of the beef itself was phenomenal. They literally could've given me ground beef on a plate and I would rave about it. The broccoli on the side was nicely dressed as well. Prior to my flight, this place is interesting to try. There were a lot of menu items I wanted to try but I finally decided to start off with the calamari and then the smash burger as my entree. The calamari disappointedly was bland on its own. Luckily it did have half a lemon to bring out the flavors of the appetizer. This might be a hit or miss among many people. I personally would not order it again because I like calamari without the lemon flavor but without the lemon, it was bland...so I was not able to enjoy it to the fullest. Also, I personally don't like olives and would not recommend this dish since there were a lot of olives! I also got the smash burger. I ordered it medium and expected a little juice to seep with every bite...which did not happen. Luckily, my friend ordered the burger that came topped with an egg (I forgot what the burger was called) and gave me several bites. This egg-topped burger was amazing! If I were to come back here, I would order this! The service was also great! The rest of the staff was also super friendly! At some point three or four years ago, this airport location was remarkably better than the downtown flagship. Now? Not so much. My filet steak (ordered "medium") was served with rare, with a cool center... after 30min. My daughter's Mac & Cheese, was more like a soup? While it's a nice idea to have a steakhouse in the airport, unfortunately the table service is about as airport as it gets. The first attempt at my medium rare filet was totally well done. Begrudgingly the server agreed to a do-over, but I never saw her again after that. Well, to be accurate, I should say she never touched my table again - she certainly made time to gossip about customers within earshot behind me at the bar. Service was unnecessarily curt from the moment I sent the steak back - server didn't replace the silverware she took away, she never checked in to see if the second attempt was right, she dropped the check without a word, etc. Which is sad, considering it was the restaurant's mistake in the first place. I mean, I get that I was such a troublesome "Karen" to dare speak up, but I was as nice about it as could be. Anyway Elway's, if you're going to charge downtown price, you need to deliver downtown service...not Aramark airport fast food service. For an airport restaurant it always amazes me that the food can be good! Tasted my friends old fashioned and it was the best I've ever had. When your flying solo, it can be a little awkward to dine alone, but the staff are used to it and no one is paying attention to other people anyway. Stepping into the dimly lit room and sitting in the surprisingly comfortable chairs, is a welcome to travelers. I ordered the steak salad with a side of Yukon mashed potatoes. I was surprised again when the steak arrived on a separate plate, but it made cutting it easier. I highly recommend asking for the salad to come first, and reserve the steak to come out like a second course with the side of mashed potatoes. Then you feel like your enjoying a real steak dinner, without the large potion of meat and without the price tag. I'm a mashed potato Connoisseur. I was literally licking the bowl clean. Elways is my go to for layovers at DIA terminal B. Breakfast, lunch, dinner menu options are all fantastic. For breakfast try the classic Benedict or the breakfast sandwich. Lunch salads are amazing and also make a great to-go option. The steaks and fresh seafood are excellent dinner options. Aside from great food, the service is aways on point. Professional, competent staff attend to your needs whether you're seated in the main dining room or at the bar (which is first come first serve). They are also very sensitive to how rushed you are to make a connection and will service you accordingly. Elways is a bit on the pricey side, but I find it to be a great place to peel away the hours of a long layover and actually enjoy yourself. read more

I hate this place and I'm sorry John Elway's name is associated with it. My wife and I were traveling through the airport and had a flight to return to Virginia. The restaurant appeared to be open as their doors were raised and a man was sitting at the bar. But when my wife went in to have a seat we were rudely informed (yelled at in a deeply condescending tone) "we aren't open yet!" It turns out they were going to open in just a few minutes, but when I asked if we could park our bags and sit at the bar until they opened, as the other man was, I was yelled at again "I said, we are not open. What did you not understand?" You could contrast Elway's with Pour La France, also on Concourse B. Go there instead. You will get outstanding food and very friendly service, both at the bar and on the floor. I will never go back to Elways. Ever! I hope they go out of business. Jerks. read more

3.25 stars. It's really hard to rate Elway's as a bar because your drinking experience is entirely left to who happens to be serving drinks that shift. Case in point, in the same visit, I had one of the best High West double rye old fashioned cocktails from one bartender and one of the worst renditions of the exact same drink mixed by a different bartender. The first one was an expert display of flavor balance with just the right hints of sweet to balance out the rye whiskey. The latter was an unmitigated disaster of clashing flavors that somehow managed to be harsh and cloyingly sweet at the same time. It was simply undrinkable. Both cost a pretty penny. The kitchen was fairly accurate with a medium rare burger that was a bit less juicy than i would have liked but still quite delicious. All of this is relatively expensive (an alcoholic beverage [one of my drinks was covered by another patron], soup, burger and fries cost me $88) to not be superbly executed so three bland yellow stars it is for Elway's. I'd say go here if you want a more exciting burger than Shake Shack and want to play Russian roulette with whiskey drinks. read more

Who knew that a restaurant of this caliber was located in the Denver airport? Makes me excited I have to go back through there next week and you can bet I am going to stop in for a late lunch or early dinner. Located in the main area of Terminal B, Elways is a Denver institution that some how manages to pull off the brand experience in an airport location (other restaurants could learn from them!) We were promptly seated and given menus to review. Our server was great, full of suggestions and steering us toward her favs on the menu. So started with the corn and chicken chowder. Yum. Very creamy and just what I needed as it was a little comfort food that helped make my bad day just a little better. For my entree, I had the fish tacos along with house made potato chips. Both were really good and the others at my table couldn't keep their hands out of the chips. One in our group had the sirloin chili which smelled amazing and another had the burger which looked amazing. Service was good with food runners bringing the food so the server could focus on the customer. And the best thing? For an hour I almost forgot I was sitting in an airport waiting to jump on a flight home. And that was the best thing of all! read more

Generally a good place to eat, considering it's in an airport. The Smashburger is hit or miss. Love the way it is cooked, but today's order was very grisly. Other times, much better. It's about a 50/50 proposition. I had eaten about 1/4 of it today and the waiter didn't even ask me if there was an issue. I generally don't complain about food problems unless the server asks if everything is OK. I know - my problem! Anyway, we'll keep coming back when we go through DEN, but I have been disappointed enough to no longer order the burger. Maybe I'll try a steak! A suggestion to Mr. Elway: how about an 80/20 ground filet mignon or sirloin for the Smashburger? My wife had a delicious Asian Chicken Salad. She loved it.
