Peruvian food is famously delicious. When we stumbled upon this place after running an errand, we decided to try it. It did not disappoint. I ordered a ceviche and my husband ordered a saltado. We love trying different cuisines and are fortunate to have many options in the South Bay. We decided to eat at Emelina's #2 based on the reviews and are so glad we did. Our daughter in law lived in Lima and has introduced us to some Peruvian food which we've enjoyed. The restaurant is unassuming (we had a reservation but it wasn't needed, at least not on a Thursday evening), the menu varied and service friendly. Peruvian beers were refreshing and the platters just beautifully presented. My paella (arroz con mariscos) was insanely good and loaded with fish. My husband and our friends' dishes (the chef's special El Borracho, Pescado a lo macho, and Cordero a la nortena -- the lamb shank) were also highly praised. Portions were generous and we took home leftovers -- except for my husband who devoured all his Pescado. Moreover, the prices were more than reasonable. We will definitely be back and are so happy we found this hidden gem. read more

Went on Tuesday to try some Peruvian food. When we are in South Beach in Miami, we eat a lot in Peruvian restaurants.Emelinas was pretty close to what were used to in South Beach. For the price, the portion size was good. We had the ceviche. It was delicious. I had the fried fish with rice. My partner had the paella. The ceviche was amazing. My plate was pretty good. The fish taste good just expecting a whole fish. she had the paella she liked it. She thought it was a little salty. I tasted it, but I thought it was fine. three things that were just meh. Parking was a bitch very little parking to support like three restaurants right next to each other. the service was OK. I could barely hear the waitress. There is so much noise and she spoke very softly. It's a small restaurant and she barely checked on us. I wish the service a little bit better. Also, we said it was our first time there she did not make recommendations or tried to talk to us about the menu. The menu doesn't show what drinks they carry. I'd go back again. I really enjoyed it. It's just a little things make it better. There's only two people besides us in there. It wasn't busy. We will try other Peruvian restaurants to get a better comparison. read more

Nope! Don't even waste your time coming here! The food was not good at all! Paid $25 for a Pescado a lo Macho which had: 1- piece of tilapia (1/2 of an actual piece) 2- pieces of potatoes 2 - mussels 3 - shrimps 3 - Clams 5- baby/small scallops I also had a Chicha and 1 alfajor. The chicha was mediocre and the alfajor was good. Service was fast, but nothing out of the ordinary. My total came out to: $49.75 ....Received a message from the owner, and instead of replying to his rude message privately I will respond to his questions here. Owner Clei - you are 100% right I am not Peruvian! Over the past 15 years I have tried Peruvian food in 5 different US states, I have been to many Peruvian restaurants between The Bay and LA. So yes I am not Peruvian, news flash there will be people that go to your restaurant that are not Peruvian!!! If you don't want people to go to your restaurant that are not Peruvian maybe you should let it be known, since we don't know Peruvian food and according to you we don't deserve an opinion. Reality is that the Macho that was made is the worst one I have tried. The sauce literally tasted like nothing. Absolutely NO FLAVOR. The white rice had more flavor. Pescado a lo Macho is my favorite Peruvian dish so of course it saddens me when it was not up to the standards of other ones that I have tried. Now, of course you should charge for your food and service, Im not asking for this to be free. I am asking for a fair price! Now, if you can't handle people writing honest reviews criticizing your restaurant maybe it's not a good idea for you to read them. Look past them. The service was amazing. The waitress that helped us was very kind and explained to us the spicy levels they do for the ceviche, and the different beers there is in house. It's very chill and cozy, because it's a small mom & pop restaurant, parking is a bit hard. I highly recommend the paella vegetariano because there was large chunks of tofu and grilled onions in it. The Copa Borracho was delicious and mildly spicy, and the calamari was so good. It was enough for lunch the next day! Can't recommend this place enough!! Also get the platanos! A lot of fake review on this restaurant, I could not overlook it, because the experience I had was very negative. This is an honest truthful review. This place is a one star because the service is very slow, the place seems to be a mom and pa, but it's not, they have many restaurants, including the emelias plus in Sunnyvale, which is the worst of all. All restaurants are horrible with service, every time I have gone here I noticed that, to just get water on the table can take one hour and to just get menus can be 2 hours, which is why there is a long waiting time. The food is ok, with the amount of times they switch chef, it's proof of why the food is always different in flavor and is a miss. The emelias plus literally looks like a ghost town but the reason is because even with it being empty you will wait 2 hours for just water and most times they just forget the water all together and the bartender is the worst ever, can not make any basic drinks and the worst part is that he takes forever to make just one drink. Also be careful and recheck your bill. I cannot tell you how many times I have had my bill wrong and was being over charged for items I did not order. The one in Sunnyvale also does illegal things like setting up tables outside, when they don't even have the license to do this. This place is not worth the wait or the visit. Would Never recommend, because it shows that they are horrible in service, mediocre in food. Also if you were thinking of ordering to pick up, the calls are always missed or they just don't answer the phone and when they do, you do hold and for a while. The bartender also is the one who makes most the mistakes on the bill, I literally think he intentionally tries to over charge. There are many other restaurants that do Peruvian food better, don't waste your money here. read more

Peruvian food never disappoints. We had the Leche de Tigre, Tamal de pollo, seco de res, and some alfajores. With a glass of chicha morada (dried purple corn drink) they have Inca Cola too which to me tastes like bubble gum :) Everything was tasty. My least favorite was the tamal but I'm assuming it was accidentally over salted. Which happens. The place is pretty clean and looking at the kitchen it's pretty small so there's about two people cooking. Amazing Peruvian food. Got the Emelinas Ceviche, medium spicy, so tasty, def coming back for that, someone from our group thought it was too salty, but I loved it. Lomo Saltado was ok, but the lamb shank was also delicious and a popular choice in our group, and the chefs special el borracho was also very popular amongst my group. Def will visit again! I had the lamb made in northern Peruvian style and it was tasty. However, my table was towards the middle of the restaurant and I can smell the strong cleaning solutions from the bathroom. Glad to find this hidden gem in the Bay Area. I'm very familiar with Peruvian food as I traveled to Peru a few months ago. I like the variety of authentic dishes in the menu--they have Tacu-tacu or Pescado alo Macho that you won't find from other Peruvian restaurants around the Bay. The flavors were delicious and on point-- I felt like I was taken back to my recent trip to Peru. Also, big serving for reasonable price.
