Before heading to a concert, my girlfriend and I decided to grab some pizza and chose Emmy's Squared Pizza for a change since square pizza isn't that common in NYC. We made a reservation, and when we arrived, we noticed it wasn't packed, so we were seated right away. The ambiance was nice, with a darker theme that I really liked. We requested still water and were given that. We wanted fries on the side but felt the 1lb seasoned fries would be too much, so we opted for regular fries instead. For our pizza, we ordered a regular pie with caramelized onions, bell peppers, and grilled chicken. The pizza was pretty good, but my girlfriend thought the chicken was a bit overcooked and hard. As for the fries, they were decent but could have used a bit more seasoning, though the waiter did inform us it would only be salted. Overall, we enjoyed the meal and the nice atmosphere, and I would recommend Emmy's Squared Pizza for anyone looking to try a different style of pizza in the city. read more

My second time dining at Emmy Squared but a different location. The Detroit style pizza is thicker and has a focaccia-like consistency. It is the uniqueness of the toppings and flavor mix that I love from Emmy's. Each order can be shared among 2 people. Ambiance (4/5): We stopped in around 5:30pm on a Friday and the establishment was only around 20% full. The inside is dimly lit with a medium noise level. There's some seating by the bar and a split of high top tables and regular tables. Service (5/5): We were serviced often and the waiter served us with a positive attitude too! Food (4/5): I loved the Colony which has a great combo of sweetness of the honey and the spiciness of the jalapenos. The pizza is a bit too greasy for my liking but the crust has a nice bite to it! read more

We went on a Monday afternoon and the place was understandably empty, but I'd make a reservation on weekends. My favorites are the Margherita upgraded to burrata and the Colony. I love Emmy squared! The pizza is amazing (thick crust Detroit style) and their burger is so good, I could go and not even order pizza if I was craving a burger. This location is nice because it's very close to all the Broadway shows so easy to go over after or before for a meal. Pizza is decent, but service is simply too slow. It took them over 40 minutes to bring us our pizza after ordering, which would have been okay if it was a big deep dish pizza, but this certainly was not. They call it Detroit style (meaning the crust is a bit higher than a normal pizza) and the size is only big enough for 1 person if you're hungry or 2 people if you're both not that hungry... for $20+ per pizza. Not the best deal but I guess inflation has been hitting the pizza market too. But back to the slow service... after they gave us our pizza and we expressed our frustration with the slow speed, they simply did not have any response for us: no apologies, no explanation, or anything. Someone needs to teach these guys some basic customer service skills to handle unhappy / hangry customers because they will probably need to deal with lots of them. Anyways, as for the pizza itself, we ordered the "Big Hawaiian" pizza (not actually that big as I mentioned), which was $21. The pizza was actually pretty good, as the crust was pretty soft and the dough was pretty fluffy. There was a good amount of cheese on there too. The pineapple pieces were a bit small, the pepperoni was a bit too hard, and the crust was slightly burned at the edges though. The bacon bits were decent. There was a chili glaze on there that was not actually spicy at all but added a nice unique sweetness to the pizza. The place it decently sized and was fairly busy on a Friday night, but we were still able to get a table without a reservation. The indoor dining area is pretty nice with dimmed lighting and a lively atmosphere. There is a bar area as well as a bunch of other standard tables. Overall, if you don't mind waiting a long time for your pizza, then I could see this being an okay option, but otherwise, you might be better off going to another pizza place that offers similar quality pizza but with a more reasonable service speed. read more

It's delicious and all but man what a huge ripoff I keep ordering from the various locations but damn do I miss my money. They know they are ripping you off and they know they can. For about the size of two real slices of pizza you'll pay about $25 I just spent $60 on two pies ... pies is how they put it, it's about 6" and when's the last time that satisfied you? All jokes aside, I love the pizza, but it's so small and so expensive I get angry and happy at the same time. It's dense and filling though. We felt so incredibly lucky to stumble upon Emmy Squared Pizza and it be a hit! We hadn't made reservations anywhere since we all got into town at different times and Emmys accommodated us with no problem. Love the ambiance. A dim lit romantic setting that's not overstated. The pizza was delicious. We couldn't decide if we enjoyed that margarita or the truffle mushroom better. I'm not sure if I'm just a salad lover lately or it really is THAT good, but the Ceaser salad would make me return every time. I ordered a large Big Ang pizza and picked it up to take home after playing at Gypsy on Broadway. The pie was delicious, and I really liked the Italian sausage with the peppers and dollops of ricotta. The pie was flavorful and delicious, and the Detroit style crust had a nice crispness in the edges. Emmy Squared is an institution, and this location on 48th Street is convenient for the theater crowd or a pregame before hitting the clubs in Hell's Kitchen. Service has been slow pretty much every single time, but the food has been as good as at other outposts of the Emily/Emmy Squared empire. Pizzas are crispy and delicious, burgers are yummy and filling. Specials are worth inquiring about: they had a green peppercorn burger a few months back that was banging, and the lunchtime chopped cheeseburger is one of the best patty melts for blocks around. I was less impressed with the Cesar salad on my first visit, shortly after they opened in this location. I was served a plate of dry lettuce leaves with a small amount of parmesan and bread crumbs, no salad dressing. Only halfway through did I discover a few anchovies stuck to the plate, hiding under the leaves. IDK if they still make it this way but that's not what I personally want from a Caesar salad. read more

Big fan of Emmys pizza. Tried while in Louisville years ago, and my purpose in life since then it has been to go to as many Emmys as I can find in other states. They have your Detroit style pizza, which for us who lived in New Haven CT, it is a different look to what we are used to. As you know, this is more of a thicker pie. At Emmys, the pies are rectangular, so you get like 6 squate slices per pizza. I would advise you to share 1 pizza. However, if you are hungry, you can easily devour one by yourself. They are kind of heavy, so proceed with caution if you eat one by yourself. We had the pizza to go and it took like 15 min to get it. The place is medium size but you know how restaurants can be in the city. It has a couple of tvs in there, and it looks like a decent vibe if you sit down and eat. Definitely recommend. read more
