Upon my second visit, I still feel like this location is not as good as their other branch in Hell's Kitchen. However, it is still capable of a satisfying meal. Their claim to fame was the Detroit style square pizzas, which are quite delicious. However, I think their overpriced Le Big Matt Burger may be just as worth the visit. I'm originally from NY and immediately knew this wasn't a "pizza place" It was a nice looking, but small, restaurant. And the pizza is Detroit style, not NY style We were greeted by 2 nice girls and ordered some sodas while we looked over the menu. We were only then2nd table on there and our waiter was slow to get to us. We only wanted a small pizza and added Gouda (do that and you won't be sorry) He couldn't seem to understand that's all we wanted. He asked if we just wanted the Gouda on half or if we wanted to create our own pizza...And we told him twice "no. We just wanted a regular pizza with Gouda added" The pizza was GREAT. Now for the one downside...your soda comes from a can and they ate $4 EACH. No one said anything about no free refills. $31 for 3 sodas and 1 pizza. YUM Came here for the first time and was very impressed! There was plenty of indoor seating and they take reservations. The bathrooms are located downstairs and they were very clean. Everything was delicious and nice sized portions! But for being almost empty inside and no one outside, I thought the service was a bit slow. But they only had 1 server it seemed like. Love this place! It is a cute, casual, and delicious restaurant nestled on third Avenue in the upper east side. vibes are always good and service is always good. For the food: Le Big Matt - the burger is really good. I think it lives up to the hype actually.... I've heard the one at Emily is just as good, so I gotta go try it as it is their sister restaurant I believe. While it is definitely on the pricey side, it doesn't feel significantly worse than a lot of other burgers in the city, given the quality and the size. as a bonus, it comes with great waffle fries. Pizza - while this is technically their main thing, I think a lot of people actually go for the burger. That being said, the pizza is great. This time, I got the "Founders", but I've tried a couple other ones and they are all fantastic. The trick is really to get their lunch special; it's a great deal. The pizza freezes and reheat really well if you have leftovers, but you might not as they are good and aren't actually that large, so you might just finish it all. A group of us 4 Arrived at 4:30 to an empty restaurant. Hot honey pizza- meh not a fan of the honey but friends wanted it. Actually the burrata cheese was very good and balanced the taste fairly. We have been here many times. Ordered takeout many times. It seems to be going downhill. The chicken nuggets, which I raved about have not been good since that one time. The ones they served to us were likely sitting under a heat lamp for a while. It was more batter than chicken, and it seemed re-fried because they got cold. The chicken in the chicken parm sandwich was so dry, I would not eat that again. It was definitely not freshly cooked. The burger bun was way too small for the burger and fell apart. There was not much meat there. They compensate for this tiny burger by giving you half a try of cold fries. For the amount they charge on this food, it is really disappointing. The atmosphere seemed nice on a Friday night, but the food and service were not quite what we were expecting. For us, the dollops of ricotta were very heavy, and the small sprinkling of sausage crumbs was just not enough. If the ratios were adjusted, the pizza has the potential to be very good. The host squeezed us into a table for 2 even though we had reserved for 3, and told us there were no booth seats available even though it really seemed there were. The server told us a regular pie wouldn't be enough for us even though we discovered it would have been, and when we had a large amount of leftovers gave us a box very clearly too small for them, so we had to ask for two more boxes, and then gave us a bag too small for the boxes which ripped and we had to ask another staff member for a larger bag. We've never had this happen before so it was surprising. It's possible that we were unlucky, and maybe this just isn't the style of pizza for us. I generally love square pizza and other versions of Detroit pizza, but I guess each place has its own interpretation. read more

What a pleasure it was to try Emmy Squared in person! I have gotten the pizza delivered and it's delicious, so I knew going in person would be a taste treat! My wife and I started off with the ceaser salad which could feed 4 and was everything you crave for a Caesar salad. We then split the Spicy Chicken sandwhich which was plentiful with taste if you could handle the burn of the heat after! I would only recommend notching the heat level down a smidge so it doesn't make me feel like I'm battling while enjoying it! We than got into their delicious vodka square which was just beautifully done perfect crisp all around accompanied by a delicious vodka sauce it's definitely a must try square slice! I've been to this location twice in the past year with two different friends, because that's how good it is! The first time I went, I got the vodka pizza and the cheesy garlic sticks- the cheesy garlic sticks are covered in a homemade pesto, and are so beyond delicious. The second time, my friend and I shared an MVP (their most popular pizza) and mozzarella sticks, which were honestly some of the best I'd ever had. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive, all in a cute atmosphere as well. Each pizza is the perfect size to be split between two, but more can be ordered if you're in a larger group. In The City for the day. Stopped at Emmy's for a late lunch. We had a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. We opted for indoors. We were seated right away. Ordered My Little Coconut cocktail. If you like a tropical drink, this was very good. We had the Asian pickled mushroom appetizers. Great flavor. The mushrooms were mixed in with cucumbers and red onion. Updating my review! Went in and sat down and it was a much better experience! This was probably my fault for thinking of Emmy as a takeout place for me as this will be a great place to continue to go and sit down. The Brussels sprout salad is sooo good. Our server was Caesar and he was so accommodating. He came out with paper and crayons for the kids. I love that they have a kid's menu at this location and are super family friendly! We ordered the fried mozzarella sticks, chicken bites(kids menu), le matt, classic, colony and the big ang. Everything was so good and their kids portion was huge! We wanted pizza but at a place that was more of a restaurant (not a walk in-by the slice pizza joint) but also not a high end Italian place. This fit the bill perfectly! The pizza was so delicious. And we ordered both the Caesar and the Brussels sprout salads and enjoyed both. We chose to sit outside which was a little noisy but as tourists we enjoyed the NY atmosphere. I've been in a Detroit pizza streak for the past 10 days and Emmy definitely hit the spot tonight. It's crazy my neighbor was walking with the little box and I was like damn idk if that's gonna fill me up so I had to ball out and get the big boy definitely the better choice for value it's 4 dollars more especially if you're getting the original. It definitely filled my stomach. The service is good. We ended up at Emmy Squared after a morning spent at Central Park and the Met. I made a reservation but it wasn't needed at all, the restaurant had plenty of seating! We were helped right away by Aisling (I'm so sorry if I got your name wrong!) who was super attentive and really went above and beyond in helping my partner (allergic to dairy) navigate the menu. We ordered the seasoned waffle fries and I got a side of the queso and both were super delicious, portion was huge and very easy to share with 2+ people. I ordered the vodka pizza (6 piece) and lovvvved the crust - it was perfectly crunchy and thick, my favorite. The vodka sauce was delicious and flavorful! Two pieces were more than enough for me so I found it to be a great value. My partner ordered the gluten free crust with vegan cheese, chicken and basil, and was also a fan of their pizza. I loved the pizza I had here, which, with all respect in the world, I was a bit surprised by because I believe I've had pizza at Emmy Squared before and I don't remember thinking much about it. But this was definitely my first sit down experience, so maybe that's the secret. I love pizzas that have a crunchy crust-- I know some people prefer chewy all the way through, but that's simply not me. And this was exactly what I was looking for. It was crispy all the way around the entire crust while also having a chewy and bready interior. Not quite deep dish, but I think veered more deep dish than a traditional NY pizza slice. The flavors were there, and I loved the basil leaves they included on top. My friend also recommended the mozzarella sticks.
