I have been going to Emperor's Kitchen since it opened. Food was good for a local Chinese carryout restaurant. My favorite item was the egg foo young and my wife orders beef with green peppers. The last time we ordered, I immediately noticed a visual change in the egg foo young. They were very thin and greasy. Tasted terrible. My wife was disappointed in her choice as well. Well low and behold, I found out there are new owners. Needless to say, that was my last order. I can't believe anyone likes the food prepared by these new owners. If anyone needs a new Chinese restaurant, the New Star restaurant in Elmwood Park is great but it is long drive from Elmhurst for carryout. I have eaten there several times. It is right across the street from Johnny's beef which is very good too. read more

Whenever I'm sick I come here for the fabulous won ton soup. A huge container of broth loaded with homemade stuffed won tons and strips of pork. The soup is delicious, oversized and ridiculously inexpensive. read more

This is a very good, take out only, Chinese restaurant. We had egg rolls, vegetable fried rice, chicken chop suey, shrimp chow mein, and orange chicken. All were very good to excellent. The egg rolls were thick, not greasy, and not over cooked. The orange chicken had a great flavor with a little heat. The chicken was not coated in a breading and fried, and I really liked the emperor's version of orange chicken. The veggie fried rice was tasty and had nice sized chunks of fresh vegetables. Take this from someone that visits China town every chance he gets, this place is the best around here, hands down. I've worked in the area for several years now and have tried almost every chinese food place in a 5 mile radias. Everything Ive ever had from here I've liked, I've grown fond of there Szechwan Fried Rice, a must try, I like their egg rolls too, reason being you can still tell whats in them when you bite into them, not like the ones from other places where its just old cabage mush and what looks like it might be shrimps inside. The only thing about this place is they close to early for me at 8:30, since I work the late shift here at work, but now that I will be starting earlier I'll for sure be eating here more regularly. read more

I was looking for a Chinese take-out because we are planning a meal that will include Chinese food. I was ordered to do recon to find a restaurant that can meet our needs. Sadly I've encountered some that have been around for a long time that failed to live up to decent standards. One of the places I've gone to is still in lock down and has limited take-out and delivery options. Unfortunately, the quality wasn't that great (might be due to a lower turnover on their inventory). My wife suggested Emperor's Kitchen in Elmhurst. While we live about 15 minutes away in Lombard, I decided to try them. For all of the years I've eaten Chinese food, this is one of the best. I recognized the freshness of their ingredients, and thoughtful combinations to present a final product that has outstanding flavor and texture. The sauce was just right and it didn't overpower the flavors from the other ingredients. I've since returned for a second order of something else and I really liked it. The place is bright and clean. It's welcoming and we now have a place for our dinner planned for Sunday night. read more

emperors kitchen is a small Chinese kitchen that tries to give you a small serving at a small price. I ordered the shrimp broccoli meal and basically all I got was broccoli and maybe four shrimp I the meal. I was really disappointed in this place as it was one of the last Chinese carry-outs in the area I have yet to be in and there is noting special about this place. There is hardly any seating and the quickness I got more order made me wonder if they just have a big pot of stew sitting there all day. read more

Was concerned due to all the bad reviews, but since there was also some good ones I gave it a try. First of all delivery took an hour and 15 minutes after being promised 45 minutes. The egg roll was OK, but cold. The Won Ton Soup was absolutely flavorless. The Kung Pao Chicken/Shrimp was terrible (The shrimp were inedible... soft and mushy). I love this place! Normally I get the emperor's combination fried rice. I finally decided I had a taste for something different from this place. I ordered the combination lo mein and was expecting the typical thick noodles and ended up with dry ramen type noodles. Definitely not what I wanted. This was the only time I was not pleased with their food. read more

This is a really nice local place. Man at the counter is always super helpful. He made my aunt some mild chicken soup upon request when I told him she was sick. I ordered the Governer's Chicken and was very disappointed. I was given chicken nuggets dumped in Sweet and Sour Sauce. No flavor at all. I feel like I wasted $8. I will not be coming back here during my lunch. I ended up throwing it out. As much as I hate wasting food, I could not eat the meal. read more

Not impressed at all. The chicken in the generals chicken was like chicken nuggets that you find in the freezer section. Not real at all. The crab Rangoon was gross. Very Americanized, bland food. Least authentic Chinese I've had in the area. Just sweet and/or salty, no other spices. The fried rice was just rice with soy sauce. It's cheap and fast, but I think there are better choices around. If your idea of great Chinese food is Chop Suey or Sweet/Sour Pork, you might like it fine. Best Crab Rangoon EVER! Ordered a few orders for a party and people couldn't stop raving about them!

The "sesame chicken" was frozen chicken nuggets in a box of sweet and sour sauce. I think they messed up my order and then sprinkled sesame seeds on it. Moo Shu Pork was tasty, but they stuffed the four small pancakes in a box, so they were ripped. Veggie Lo Mein was inedible. We ate the Moo Shu and had to toss the rest. read more
