Love this place. Our group has had meetings there are several times and they have been very accommodating. Buffet items are always hot and fresh. They even have crab lakes. Quite possibly one of my best restaurant experiences ever. Came at 8:30 on a Tuesday and there was so much food and I was one of the only people there! I didn't get around to all of it but there was crab legs, sushi, and like 10 different meats to choose from as well as desserts. I don't know why the reviews aren't more positive. I may be biased because I love Chinese food but I think this buffet is a gem for $18 and another $3 on a drink. I'm happy and the waiter was an angel! Give it a chance maybe. Empire buffet has been around for years - we used to go frequently but haven't been in a while. It's a little dated but the food is consistent. The sushi is actually quite good although limited. The rest of the buffet has a wide variety of dishes including some more unusual options there are seafood dishes from buttered shrimp and baked salmon to muscles. There is a large salad bar and a variety of appetizers and treats. Empire buffet also has to go boxes so you can drop in and grab what you want. For the money it's a good deal. We're visiting from out of town and on our last night here we drove by and, as a family, decided we were coming here. The food was good. The service was amazing. My wife loves her crab legs, and after she had sampleed the rest of the food, she went straight for the legs. She sent me back for her second plate of legs and they were out. The guy at the sushi station saw me looking for them. We made eye contact and smiled at each other after a couple of trips looking for the elusive crab legs. We were ready to leave when the guy (I wish I had gotten his name) came to find me to let me know they had put some more out. It made my wife's night. Did I mention she loves her crab legs? This is the best chinese buffet in the area. The restaurant is clean and the staff friendly. The food is on the better side with plenty of options for all tastes. 10/10 would not recommend! I had went went here a couple years ago and I did not have a terrible experience so recently me and my girlfriend had decided why not try it out, you only live once. Oh boy was that a bad idea. Had sushi and it tasted like cat food all rolls are made with imitation crab and fake fish. Had sweet and sour chicken and it was tough, cold and stringy the sweet and sour sauce was cold. The breaded shrimp wasn't too bad but the best thing I had was the ice cream kinda hard to mess that one up. Would not recommend and will not be coming back. Food is old, poor sanitation and just overall bad hygiene and health I hope a health inspector gets in here and shuts it down or puts them in place because this is unacceptable and very gross place to have food. read more

Aside from my dining experience, they refused to refill the crab legs. I asked when I had arrived if they were going to do something about there being no crab legs. After bringing this issue up for about an hour, they finally brought out around 5 or 6 crab legs. On first appearance this place looks good...later on (or during the meal even) your stomach will tell you otherwise. Most everything I had tasted fine and they had a nice selection of Chinese food, fruits, veggies, sushi, desserts and more. If you are dairy free they have a decent amount of options, if you are a vegetarian then you have very little options. 1 type of sushi, some noodles and fruit and that's about it. We went to take a friend who wanted to go for his birthday. On the way there he said he had gone here two days prior and had an upset stomach from it...that was not great news to hear on the way. But we went still anyways. While I was eating, I had had 1 normal plate full of food, I could feel my stomach already hurting like more than just being full. I ordered a Shirley temple because sprite helps my stomach settle some. That helped a little. I still had to go to the bathroom while there to say the least. There was another woman in there obviously struggling....and my husband has had a rough couple of days the last two days...and our other friend that went with us wasn't feeling too hot either. After eating here for the 2nd time I never will go back! The first thing I got was a cup of egg flower soup which was warm but the taste was bland and had no flavor. I added crackers to my soup and they ended up being stale. I went to get my first plate of food and got chicken teriyaki, chicken hibachi, green beans and chicken skewers. All the chicken dishes tasted the same and had no flavor but a disgusting sweet taste but it wasn't your normal Chinese food flavor you would taste in their dishes. Something I can't put my finger on flavor wise but just not good. The skewers were very dry and the flavor was bland as well but the smell of the chicken skewers was awful. It smelled like sewage stinky smell. I asked my husband who can eat anything to try it and he gagged and spit it out. I started to feel nauseous and shaky soon after and couldn't eat or try anything else. The rest of my family went back up for 2nds. When we finished and left the restaurant I got very queasy but my sister who had one big plate of food ended up throwing up on the side of the road before I did. My husband was in a different dilemma. He was stuck in the bathroom as soon as we got home! So yea I think we are done with this place and will never go back nor recommend it to anyone. Food tasted alright but everything I grabbed was room temp. The general Sao chicken was all cold and saggy, the crab Rangoons where cold, the egg rolls cold, the sweet n sour chicken cold. They were using flourescent lights as heat lamps for the food which explains it. Came here for a quick lunch a little past 3 (their cutoff is 4 PM). There was a good selection even at this late hour, and the food was freshly prepared and tasty. Close to 4 they will start bringing in "dinner-only" items like oysters and premium sushi, so you are not supposed to take from those trays if you're paying the lunch price. We were trying to get to Portland to catch the sunset (6 PM) so this is definitely a place to consider if you're in a rush; we were in and out in about 30 minutes. read more

This is probably the WORST Chinese place I've ever eaten. The crab was cold as well as the rest of the food. The chicken and shrimp were tough. This place has good food, attentive staff and the Tuesday lunch special can't be beat. They should change out the old carpet to a different floor, the place needs a good scrub and a coat of paint.
