I like most of the food but the coffee cake I wasn't pleased about it long black hair on it. I wasn't happy when I saw that..

This place is a nice edition to the food scene in Eugene and is conveniently located near campus. There were a variety of different dishes to choose from but my favorite had to be the pho and ice cream. The pho broth taste better than most pho restaurants here in town. It is a little old and needs a facelift but overall great place. Would come back here again.

Eh, been here twice. Always like to visit a second time before leaving a critical review. Pretty unimpressed on both visits. Food was average, but half the buffet items were cold. I brought this to their attention and they didn't seem to be too concerned about it. Cold buffet items are not only unappetizing, but literally a bacterial incubator. Men's restroom could use a good cleaning, too...

Short: Hot & Saucy! Lots of different chicken and Americanized Chinese basics. Great value. VIsited week of Sept 20th 2022. I stopped by with my Friend to celebrate an occasion, and I've been feeling like Americanized Chinese food. Plus, I was wondering if this Chinese/Asian Buffet had some desserts I really cherish and love. [Spoiler: they did!] [Food & Price]: Being it was a weekday lunch buffet, it was only $12. I think that's pretty decent for the area and the selection is decent (no seafood, only fried fish). All the food looked fresh, hot, and steamy. That's really great. They were all covered very generously in sauces and tasted fresh. None of my chicken got soggy and was still pretty warm by the time I started to finish up. A majority of it was chicken, I didn't see any pork and maybe 1 beef entree. They had chicken nuggets, fries, fried fish, sweet and sour chicken (sauce on the side), cream cheese ragoons, shrimp, mushroom chicken, chow mein, rice vermicelli, egg fried rice, and more. For the desserts, they had some puddings, jelly cubes, banana in strawberry sauce, ice creams (they have the twist option, which makes it half vanilla-chocolate), and apple crisp pie! [Interior & Service]: Being a buffet it is practically self-serve, waitresses stopped by timely offering more ice water and removing plates, which is always appreciated. The interior of the restaurant is a bit dim/dark and the booths have vinyl seating, but comfortable. Also the whole restaurant floor is very spacious with plenty of seats. I did want to note that others mentioned their stomach being upset, mine was too but maybe from overeating. Empire is much better than China Sun locally, based on my past experiences at China Sun (pretty sure they are $ more than Empire). Overall, I definitely will stop by again if they keep it up with the fresh and hot food!

We came at 7pm on a Saturday and there was no wait, we were immediately greeted and seated. The staff was very attentive taking our drink orders and bring back refills. The food was all delicious the only thing we didn't try was the sushi bar but everything else was on point! None of the food was soggy and I didn't even get any fatty or cartilage pieces! The desserts are a little random but each one was very tasty yet not too sweet. It's a cozy place with a good amount of seating and even a bar. They do give you a fortune cookie for each person at the end of your meal before bringing over the bill. My only complaint is that two of the chicken dishes I got were somehow cold :( I'm not sure on the price but for two of us with drinks it came out to $40. To me it's still worth the price and overall I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're in town or feeling particularly hungry lol.

The food was delicious! The sweet & sour chicken was nice and crunchy in a good way. It wasn't fried to smithereens. I wasn't happy with the sweet and sour sauce, I thought it would have been thicker!! The sweet donuts are warm and thick and all kinds of goodness. I'm totally satisfied with my order aside from the thin sauce. All in all the food was very delicious! I was upset that the sweet and sour sauce wasn't that thick... I even called to ask if it was. Other than that it was good and crispy with sweetly warm donuts to end tonight's dinner .

This was genuinely the most unseasoned food I've ever eaten. The chicken was completely white like it had nothing put on it.

Didn't feel good after eating from here. I felt so heavy, almost feeling sick. The table and carpet felt gross too. I would not go back.

Right across the street was a parking lot that offered 3 hours free parking for customers. The food: House Noodle with Chopped Pork - my favorite dish. Their noodles are made in-house so the chew on them are great. Good flavors, salt level, and a ton of meat. Pork, Shrimp, & Chive Dumplings - big on filling, no skimping on shrimp. Scallion Pancakes - very thin and crispy. A bit on the greasy side but tasty. Braised Beef Noodle soup - same awesome in-house noodles with bits of beef, an egg, boy choy, and a good amount of bean sprouts. I'm used to these soups being packed with five spice and other ingredients - this one is pretty mildly flavored. Pork Xiao Long Bao - they have some soup, skin is on the thicker side and flavor was reasonable. It can serve as your XLB fix, but this was just ok. Other Yelpers wrote about service, but we didn't have any issues flagging people down. They also offered us sharing bowls without us asking for them. Overall, we were really happy with this meal.

It's a place that specializes in wheaten food and noodles. Looking at the menu, I noticed a wide variety of options with complex preparation methods. For example, the dough used for regular dumplings is completely different from the dough used for shrimp dumplings (har gow). Shrimp dumplings require wheat starch (cheng mian), which must be kneaded and shaped with water around 70°C (158°F) to form properly. The entire process is incredibly labor-intensive and truly tests the chef's skill level. Ambiance & Environment: You can tell this restaurant has been open for a long time, yet it remains very clean. There is a glass-enclosed prep area where you can watch the staff making the dough and noodles from scratch, which perfectly showcases their specialty. However, I was seated right next to the back door. Since customers have to use this door to access the restrooms, people were constantly walking in and out. The draft was quite strong, causing my food to cool down very quickly. I highly recommend installing a folding screen there. I also overheard other guests asking to switch seats for the same reason, so this is definitely an area management needs to work on. The Food: Since I was dining alone, I only ordered two dishes, but overall, the food deserved high praise: Griddle Cooked Beef (Gan Guo Beef): A classic Sichuan dish. The beef slices were large, the side ingredients were plentiful, and they definitely didn't skimp on the seasoning. It had a rich, robust aroma of spices that burst in your mouth. Delicious! Beef Dumplings: Easily the best dumplings I have ever had on the entire West Coast. The wrappers were thin, the filling was generous, and they were incredibly juicy--literally bursting with flavor with every bite. Highly recommended! Service: Absolutely non-existent! About five minutes after all my food arrived, while I was right in the middle of eating, a server just dropped the bill on my table. I was completely baffled. It wasn't until I pointed out that I still needed rice that they finally took the bill back. Once I finished my meal, I asked for the check. The server gave absolutely no response. Seeing a long line of people waiting outside, I proactively asked a second time because I didn't want to hold up their business. To my surprise, the staff member snapped at me impatiently, saying, "I heard you, I have to go over there to get your bill." It was genuinely infuriating. Good foods. No services

Started with the fungus appetizer, it was cold, spicy and chewy perfection. We got the beef grill, spicy, vegetables perfectly crispy, meat perfectly tender and intense flavor throughout. What surprised me was that most of the customers were Westerners--it's hard to imagine that everyone can handle such bold, heavy flavors, but I decided to give it a try. Environment: The overall lighting is quite dim, with black tables and black chairs. The ambiance is also on the darker side. Taste: We ordered shrimp wontons, dan dan noodles, and a bowl of maocai (a type of spicy boiled dish). The maocai was quite watery, not at all like the rich, thick broth of boiled beef in chili sauce--the ingredients weren't very flavorful. The shrimp wontons were very fresh. The dan dan noodles were delicious. Service: The restaurant is run by a Chinese couple who moved to Eugene about 10 years ago. You can tell they really love this place and run the restaurant with great care. When I was paying, for some reason my card kept getting declined, but the owner actively helped me figure out a solution, which eventually eased the awkwardness. I hope they keep getting better and better!
