Extremely long wait. I stood outside for about 15-20 min with only one person in front of me. Then finally, after a delivery person cut in front of me (there were several hovering), I went in and asked the very busy worker there if I could order and how long it would take. He said 30 min at least. I recommend the workers there try to get a more organized system and let customers in line know if things are backed up so they can just leave and not waste time. read more

This cafe is awesome!! I've been on the search for another place that makes mochi waffles and this place does not disappoint! I ordered the matcha "moffle" and the worker recommended I get it with the Ube ice cream. This combo was seriously a dream! The waffle was a little crunchy on the outside but the inside was nice and chewy. My hubby had to restrain me from ordering another one since we stopped by this cafe before dinner and I regret not eating like 15 more moffles while I was in SF The cafe offers WiFi and is pretty clean inside. I love their matcha moffle -- mochi waffle! It's got a great chewy texture, a crispy exterior, and balanced levels of sweetness and matcha flavor. They're also made hot and fresh for every order! I wasn't as big of a fan of their ube ice cream, which I found lacking in flavor. Girlfriend and I were craving dessert so we decided to come here for some Ube croissants but unfortunately- they're only available on the weekend :( So we asked the girl at the register for her recommendations and we ended up opting for the ube mochi waffle (Moffle) with ube icecream! The dessert was honestly too sweet for our liking- the icecream was great but the texture of the moffle kind of threw us off.. crunchy on the outside and soft consistency of mochi on the inside. We wished it would've been more soft on the outside as well but it wasn't terrible, you may like it still. The first few bites for me were the best and then every bite after became sort of a drag lol. Portion was huger than expected, me and my girlfriend shared one but struggled to finish it (we did eat some Italian food beforehand but it didn't really fill us up that much but by the end of the moffle and icecream, we were in a sugary food coma) I give this place 4 stars overall due to good service but I rate the dessert we got a solid 3. read more

This review is long overdue. I've been quite a few times already. I remember randomly stumbling across bakerdoes instagram early on and wondering why their croissants haven't broken the internet yet. Shortly I found out they were selling in a retail space for the first time....enter (lol) enter the cafe... The owners are incredibly sweet! I am super happy to support local businesses and very nice businessowners who are out there hustling. I also appreciate unique and creative desserts. MOFFLE...moffle ..moffle not panda .panda.panda.. When I mentioned to some colleagues what they were trying (b/c I like to share) they said "What is that ". From the Websters : ( Not really but I just like typing/saying "From the Websters" (the s is key) ) (Latin orgin) Definition from fake Websters: A Moffle is a Waffle made with Mochi Flour Rod elected to go with Churro flavor because after all I am Mexican so I had to honor my heritage by trying the Churro flavor first. It was pretty tasty and took about 8 minutes to come out. Since I was already ordering a Moffle (trying to see how many x's I can type Moffle in one review since it's fun to type/say) I needed something to wash it down with and wouldn't you know it..... they carry Milk tea with Boba (my FAVE). Unfortunately however they didn't have a "regular" milk tea. Their version of regular milk tea however was better than other "non -typical" standard milk tea's venues carry. Their Version- Big Sur Black has a hint of mint and was actually pretty good. Their boba was good as well and taste more fresh than other venues. For this reason I gave them a 5/6 for (milk tea taste/ boba taste ) in my ratings scale with 10/10 being the best. That puts them right in the middle at #14 of 35 SF boba spots for their standard milk tea. So why the 4 stars instead of 3 you might ask?? I gave them 4 stars based on their good customer service the co-owner was very informative and kind. Darn, forgot to take pics of our food from here! The review will have to suffice. It was all in all a bit underwhelming, anyways. I came twice with a friend, we had the breakfast sandwiches: mahalo and morning king with matcha lattes. The sandwiches were decent sized, but sort of bland/mediocre as far as spices and flavoring. My friend says it was better than McDonald's. The matcha lattes were light and hot and fresh. Our second time going there, we tried the strawberry smoothies, which were ok. Maybe I haven't tried the right things at this place, I do want to try their moffles, if I do go back. My friend was interested in one of their yolk croissant type things that they used to sell--he saw an old Yelp pic. but unfortunately, they don't carry them anymore. Quick service. New place just open a month ago. We ordered lychee peach tea, matcha and churro moffle (mochi waffle). If you like mochi than this is the place for you. Texture is like a chewy waffle. The churro moffle is good with whip cream but the matcha moffle with drizzled matcha ( paid extra ) is so plain with no flavor. It is definitely better with ice cream. If someone order a plain moffle than at lease add or let it come with lots of powder sugar so it has some kind of sweetness. Even chocolate or hazelnut flavor drizzled would be nice with no charge. My tea wasn't all that too. Being new, this place does need some work on the items. I hope when I come again they will flavor the moffle if eaten on its own. This place is pretty new . . . and the customer service, enthusiasm, Hometown ice cream, coffee, and test mochi waffles warrant five stars. I have a new favorite coffee spot on my walk to work, and a tempting ice cream stop on my walk home. It is located on Powell and Broadway, so I dig the name a lot (throw back to Wu Tang and Bruce Lee ... and given the Chinatown/North Beach location, it makes sense). When I visited, the owners were there and they are so cute! A husband and wife duo were handing out coffee and ice cream, and the wife's brother was testing delicious mochi waffle recipes. I am especially happy because they have ice cream from Hometown Creamery (in the Sunset). Also, the coffee is amazing and does the job. Excited to see how things develop. One of the owners said they're getting pastries made with French butter (not sure which days of the week, but I don't think every day). I am not sure if French butter makes things taste better, but I'm game to find out. read more

Stopped in while this place was new with opening promotions. Prices are reasonable for this city. Their Saturday special pastries are creative and incredibly well-executed--we got the mango chili lime Danish and the lava duck yolk custard croissant, and they both tasted amazing. Awesome take on a waffle. Never had a mochi waffle before. I gotta say it's pretty genius putting mochi and waffle together. Crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. It felt like I was eating a brownie almost. And top it off with a cold scoop of ice cream. That's a match made in heaven there. We happened to be in the neighborhood cuz we were waiting in line for a dimsum place. Since we didn't wanna stand around in the heat while waiting...I saw the ice cream on the sign outside. This is our go to spot for Açaí bowls, yummy breakfast foods, and Hawaiian snacks. The food is absolutely delicious and everything we've had has been amazing. The açaí bowl is refreshing and sustaining. The pancetta egg avocado toast is the right amount of each ingredient. The spam musubi feels like home (I'm born and raised on Oahu). Really appreciated the enthusiastic and friendly staff. The hip Bruce Lee murals are also neat to look at while waiting for our orders. The drinks, however....man, I regretted ordering the drinks. We got the matcha latte and the cold milk tea (I think it was a black milk tea with a hint of mint?). The matcha was extremely sweet and syrup-y. The milk tea was watered down, bland, and didn't have any tea flavor to it. Came here on a saturday afternoon for a snack with friends. We got the churro and the matcha moffle. They make it to order so you do have to sit a bit for the moffles are DENSE. but really good. another yelper had advised to get ice cream with the moffle. it was a good call. The ice cream helps the moffle be less dry. but overall, still really good. the moffles are basically chewy waffles but still crispy on the outside. the churro one was soooo good. i could've eaten another one. both moffles are not overly sweet as well. parking is not the best around the area but there are plenty of seats! will definitely come back next time in the AM to try their pastries. read more

Cute Dropped by for a baker doe croissant early on a Saturday afternoon but they were already almost out of them. We got a cacao matcha double baked croissant which was not as flavorful or crispy as I had hoped. There was also not a lot of seating so we ended up standing around for a bit, even though it seemed like some people who were sitting didn't even order anything. I ordered the last Baker Doe croissant there that day, which was a bamboo charcoal pastry with cream filling, and boy was it delicious! The outer crust had just the right amount of crunch with a slight glaze... my only gripe was that there was only a limited number of pastries left. The owner was very friendly and the art from Dragon School was super cool. Great vibe and high quality foods...definitely will go back again. read more

I had the oolong milk tea with boba, and the bahn mi sandwich. First, for the oolong milk tea, the boba is a little hard, so maybe it could be cooked longer; plus, I didn't really taste much of the oolong tea, other ingredients may overpower the oolong tea flavor, so the ratios and such could be adjusted. Next, for the bahn mi sandwich, it's way too salty. This is an Americanized Vietnamese, with the egg and sausage, but it still has the baguette, and the pickled vegetables. However, Vietnamese sandwich pickled vegetables are a little sour and sweet, while this one is pure saltiness (the carrots and onions). There was a lot of sauce too, I was happy when I got it, that it was warm, but then, the bread became soaked and soggy. This was a below average experience for me, but I will give it another chance. Maybe I'll try their specialties next time. Also, the staff was nice. read more

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I tried a second matcha latte and it was definitely better. It tasted still a bit sweet so I'm not sure if the milk had sugar in it. You could try heating the milk to a lower temperature, too, as matcha doesn't to be as hot as coffee, etc. read more
