Like many places in the area, this place has good food but poor service. We brought our dog and we were seated at a table on the front porch. We got menus right away and, even though there was just one other person on the patio, it took quite some time to be able to place our order. I ordered a shrimp louie without tomatoes (of course it came with tomatoes). Shortly after it arrived, I asked for extra dressing that did not arrive until I was nearly done. Regardless, the salad was very good and shrimp were plentiful. My wife got fettuccini Alfredo and french onion soup that she really enjoyed. She has a bubbly personality and sharp knowledge of the menu and wine options. She was surprised to learn of the six legged chicken featured on the entrees, a rarity only known to Twaine Harte. The Eproson House. There is always plenty of parking and it is level entry. The interior is wrapped in Knotty Pine with rustic hard wood floors and an outside area, just beyond the full bar, for the smokers to gather. We just love to sit by the fireplace while enjoying excellent service and fine food. They have really nice steaks, excellent pasta dishes with gluten free upon request and the prices are affordable. Save room for the Cobbler with Ice Cream or an after diner drink with attentive bar tenders and a friendly atmosphere. We have a cabin and Twain Harte, and surprisingly the food options are quite good in this small town. Eproson House is our favorite spot and their menu has so many great options. If you like seafood this place is right for you. The scallops and salmon dishes are awesome! We cane here during Covid too, and the outdoor seating arrangement is quite nice. My mom had been raving abt this place. So she made a reservation for this past Fathers Day. The restaurant has a nice rustic appeal to it inside and out. Complete with a fireplace and full bar. They also have live music in the bar area. My mom made a reservation for 11 am. Upon arrival we were greeted by a sweet young lady. She apparently could not find our reservation. After some searching on a piece of paper with tons of scribble on it. She found it. However my mom specified being seated by the fireplace. The young lady stated that it was reserved for someone else already. I thought we were gonna have a problem. Cz we specifically asked for the fireplace seating and didn't budge. I'm easy going. But u already could find my reservation. Now u aren't wanting to seat me where I asked. Credit to the nice gal for accommodating us and promptly seated us where we asked. We were seated and handed menus and asked what we wanted to drink. We 3 all ordered coffee. Which arrived quickly. Our waitress arrived and took our order. She also informed us that the cook was a little slow in getting the orders out. Boy she wasn't kidding. It took quite a while. But at least she prepared us. They really seemed short handed. Cz the same waitresses where doing everything. So it took time to get refills on coffee. Our food finally arrived and it didn't disappoint. I ordered a spinach omelet with hashbrowns and biscuits and gravy. My wife ordered the french toast plate and my mom had poached eggs. Ew. Everyone seemed pleased with their meal. I know I was. The omelet was filling and tasty. The biscuits weren't so big that it was too much. I think the only issue we had beside the reservation fiasco was my wife asked for salsa and it never arrived. I try not to be too hard on the help. Cz most times it cz the management doesn't schedule enough people to work or simply won't hire the people they really need. The service wasn't bad. A disappointing lunch over all. We went for a belated birthday and early Mother's Day. The service was good but otherwise the food was not as good as our prior experience. The Asian chicken salad and marinara sauce pasta were ok. The Lake House Salad was swimming in cranberries, overpowering the rest of the salad. The BLTA sandwich came without the chipotle mayonnaise. Stayed in Twain Harte and had dinner here because it was one of two options open in town. We sat at a table in the bar area and ordered quite a few things which the server/bartender lady didn't write down which we were leery of and of course she had to come back and ask again. Then she forgot to put our drinks in and we never got our waters. We ordered the scallop risotto which was $36 so we were expecting it to be top notch, then were told they were out of scallops so we chose shrimp instead which was fine. When it came out it was sooo bland and tasted bitter, i had to add salt and butter and the broth from our soup to give it any flavor but we were hungry so we ate the shrimp. When we got the check we were still charged for the scallop risotto and when I told the lady she said they were the same price, then she asked some dude sitting at the bar who could've been a manager or owner and he also said they were the same price so she ran the card, then I looked at the menu and the shrimp risotto was $30 like i had thought. Giving it three stars because honestly everything else we had was pretty good and the server was nice, but the risotto was ridiculously over priced for how bad it tasted. The servers/ owners or whoever that dude was should really know the prices of their food, or at least actually check the menu when a customer says they are charged for something they didn't get. read more

Biggest complaint was service...they were very slow biz wise and with just two tables the waitress could not keep our water/tea full, and when my senior citizen Dad asked for a salad, she let him order a full dinner salad AND lunch...so two meals came out for him, we had to pay for two, and when we asked for two to-go containers...we got one. Came here on a Thursday night decided to give this place a try since it was rated decently. My first impression were the high prices on the menu. For basic Alfredo it was 26 and to add shrimp or chicken it was an additional $4. Gave it a try anyway. Waited over an hour for our food. Service was slow. Did not come to refill our drinks or bread. After our hourly wait the food came and it was very blant. Had to add salt pepper chili flakes.. when the bill came we asked to split into 3 since we were a party of 6. Waitress right away said they can't do that for "big parties". My mother insisted on splitting bill and explained that she's never had that issue with a restaurant. The waitress responded rudely saying we should of told her in advance about splitting bills and instructed us the customers to split it ourselves and calculate our totals. When she brought us the bill we noticed there was a 20% extra charge on there. When I questioned her about it she said it was a service fee. We told her the service was terrible if she can remove that fee. She said large parties of 6 or more get charged that service fee automatically. And that it was noted in the menu. After checking menu, it never said there was a 20% service fee for parties of 6+. At this point we paid our bill and left the restaurant super unhappy and disappointed. Never coming back & letting my friends/family to never come here again. Your better off going somewhere else or cooking at home. Whoever left 5star reviews, don't believe that. Hubby and I have dined here for years, I believe 7, and always enjoyed the food and great service. This past weekend we had family visit us from Washington and wanted our usual 5 star meal. The kids asked what we would recommend and I assured them that everything on the menus was delicious. Well that was not the case unfortunately. I'm not sure if they have a new cook or what? I ordered the lobster tail and part of it was way off and I didn't eat it, it even smelled unusually fishy? Rice pilaf off, vegi side over cooked . We have eaten at Eproson House in the summer and it was quite good. We live in Napa and are used to great service and outstanding food. Last night we arrived at the restaurant 20 minutes before our reservations and went to the bar. The bartender, a young woman was polite and poured a good cocktail. We arrived at the hostess stand right on time and we were seated. Our water was poured and then nothing for 25 minutes. A waitress was taking an order from the adjoining table. When she finishing we asked her if we could order. Her response, " I don't know who is waiting on your, but I will take your order." I ordered the beat salad and the Chicken Marsala. The supposed beat salad arrived and frankly all beats with a horrid sauce splatted on top. Could not eat it. Then the star of the show arrived, the Chicken Marsala. Wow. It arrived on a serving dish you would use for Lasagna . Pieces of undercooked chicken floating in the worst watery sauce I have ever tasted. I took a bite and that putrid morsel ending up in my napkin. My wife had the Chicken Artichoke. Same chicken and a sauce, well sauce may be to kind. The bottle of Napa Valley Sterling Wine and Bread was good.. so, it was wine and bread for dinner. The problem with the restaurant is they have to many choices on their menu. It is billed as a steak house. Go with that. It s impossible to offer 30 dishes and be consistent. We did not complain or send any food back. Top quality food and service. We arrived and were seated almost immediately, our server helped us out with no wait and the staff there was very friendly. We ordered the filet mignon as well as the ribeye, which both came out perfect to how we wanted it cooked. The price is also very reasonable for the amount of food you receive with one meal. With the steaks, we were given a choice of soup or salad, vegetables, and an option between a few different types of potatoes. After 3 1/2 hours drive from the Bay Area, my girlfriend, her husband and I decided to try this restaurant suggested by the hotel's front desk where we're staying. The resto looks nice from the outside and we were hoping for a nice dining since this is our first time at this place. As soon as we walked in, we looked around the check the place out, waited to be seated and noticed that there were a lot of people but also, a lot of available tables. The Hostess, approached us and I said, "table for 3 please." Then she asked, "do you have a reservation?" My girlfriend and I both said "no" and she said it'll take about 15 minutes to get seated. So we patiently waited and watch people walked in who were seemed to be regular diners at the place. I've dined in fancy restaurants and usually, the hostess would ask if you want dine in or outside seating. The Hostess didn't even give us that option. I watched her in and out of the restaurant and setting a table outside (patio). Not even 15 minutes, she came and told us that our table was ready. Once seated, she told us that "they ran out of menu" and they will bring us the menu as soon as they're available. Since we were al tired and hungry, we didn't make a big fuzz out of it. Then came the server (didn't get her name). She was sort of friendly at first, asked us if we're ready to order. She explained the "special for the day" and I decided to order one of the specials. After getting our orders, she came back with glasses of water and said "I'll be back with the appetizer". She didn't even mention anything about "the bread" so I asked nicely, "do you have bread?" And she said "yes, I'll bring some, they're still in the oven." Isn't she supposed to tell us that she's bringing us bread as soon as it's out of the oven before I even asked for it? Maybe, maybe not because we've never been at this resto. Before our orders came and my girlfriend's husband realized that the server didn't even asked us how he wants his steak? We all looked at each other and we all said "that's right, she didn't asked." Then our orders came, sure enough, the steak was rare. So my girlfriend's husband said "I want it medium well" you didn't asked me how I want it done. The server was very quick with her response/excuse and said "I overheard him earlier so I assumed it was medium rare." That's when all this misunderstanding started. Instead of "apologizing and making it up to the customer", she looked upset and said "I can make it medium well, give me a couple of minutes" and walked away. The food was okay not great but just okay. The service was slow and the treatment that we got from the Hostess and the server was poor. Hopefully, they didn't treat us poorly because of the color of our skin. And we hope that other people like us won't be treated the same way. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating. The waitress greeted us quickly and brought our drinks. My lemon drop had salt on the rim instead of sugar. Yuck. The waitress took it back and brought me a new glass, but by now the drink was warm. My wife and I both got beet salads which were quite good. She got the lobster for dinner which was also good. My rib eye was cooked well and it was a good cut of meat, but it had no spices on it at all and was very bland. We passed on dessert based on some other reviews I've seen. My daughter celebrated her wedding rehearsal dinner at Eproson House this past weekend. Nothing could have spoiled this wonderful event, however I must say, the staff at Eppy went above and beyond our expectations, adding to an memorable evening. The staff was attentive and prompt, often anticipating our needs before we even thought to ask! We were a party of 36, so we were seated outside. I didn't drink that night, but those in my party who did, enjoyed the bar. Our food was amazing - we started with appetizers, when it was time for dinner, somehow they managed to get all our food out within minutes of each other! Personally I was stuffed so I didn't have dessert, but what I saw from our guests who did order, it too looked amazing! I left with a full belly and a happy heart. I want to thank everyone at Eproson House for making a special evening in my daughter's life so memorable. And for keeping it affordable for my daughter's new in-laws! On May 11, 2022. We stopped in for dinner. We found the servers to be very friendly and polite. Overall it was good service however, we were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food presented. The vegetables were way over cooked. As if they had been sitting in a warmer all day. The main course that I had was the Chicken Marcella. Very bland with chunks of under flavored chicken chunks. My wife had the Crab fettuccini. The crab tasted like lemon juice, the accompanying asparagus was also over cooked. All in all it was a very disappointing. Sorry but that was our take away. My husband and I dinner here last night, and it was amazing! My husband had the Lobster dinner and he smiled throughout his meal. His only complaint, and it was a very small one, he questioned if it was clarified butter or not, he doubted it was. I had the Shrimp Scampi. It was so delicious!! Rustic quaint looking restaurant. Waitress was attentive. Food would of been great if it wasn't cold cold cold. Had breakfast - hash browns were cooked perfect and warm. Eggs Benedict was cold and yolk was extremely over cooked. Hubby's meal was odd to say the least - hamburger over cooked/burnt with large chunks of grizzle. Toast forgotten and then came out barely toasted. Other diner with us had BLT and bread fell apart completely. 20 minutes to get drinks - completely ignored by a bartender that was NOT busy. My only two complaints were that my server asked what kind of soup or salad I wanted when I ordered my main entree; I didn't know that this was going to be an additional surcharge. The cost isn't what bothered me, it's that it wasn't mentioned that it was extra. I probably would have passed on it if I knew it was extra as I had already ordered an appetizer. Lastly, they charge a 3% fee for using credit card. No where on the menu was that stated. Again, the fee doesn't bother me, but it's upsetting and deceitful that it wasn't mentioned.
