Positives: The environment is amazing. I love the bright colors and the old Mexican feel to the atmosphere. It's an outside sitting area surrounded by an actual restaurant, fruteria, and food truck. While Mexican jams blast in the background. Cons: I placed a to go order over the phone and had a hard time ordering due to our language barrier. No big deal!!! She told me the order would be ready for pickup within 17 minutes. Cool!!! I hopped in the car and drove 25 minutes to place. Only for my order not to be ready. I called and asked was the order ready while I waited in line. Once again....The phone was transferred to 4 others because they couldn't understand me. No big deal!!! I'm patient when it comes to my food and treat every hand that makes my food with respect. The problem here is that finally after 11 minutes a guy says yes your order is ready. He grabs a bag from the side and sits it down in front him and handles more orders. Cool!!! I can wait when it comes to tacos. As I wait about 10 minutes he now looks through the bag and give it to the man in front me waiting. No problem maybe there was a mixup with the food. I waited 15 minutes for my food and he checks to make sure it's correct. After waiting for so long I could wait to get home to eat. Only for me to find my tacos extremely greasy and the meat was old. This place is legit! They have amazing authentic Mexican tacos; quite possibly the best I've had in the city. My personal favorite are the barbacoa tacos on corn tortilla with everything on them. If you pair that the salsa verde and a corn in the cup, you've got a winning combination! It's not a glamorous place, but it's mostly outdoor and DEFINITELY one of the best hidden gems I have found around the city. You know it has to be good if you're a Mexican restaurant in San Antonio that's been around for years! Don't think they're closed because the doors are really hard to push open. They have great lunch specials for $4.99. The Chile Relleno was amazing! My daughter ordered Chile Verde (not sure it was a special, though) and I will definitely be ordering that next time! Their tortillas are handmade, and the chips are nice and sturdy because of that. Salsa that they serve with the chips is the perfect amount of heat. The green sauce they offer is hot like the sun! They also have a separate fruit cup shack that's in the shared parking lot. Their corn cups are so delicious, and there are outdoor tables to sit at when weather permits. Is this a high school concession stand? The asada was really close to just being picadillo. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't very good either. That was what my SO ordered. I had the Mexican burger, it was honestly okay. It wasn't anything to write home about. The burger was a 2.5 out of 5 stars. But when we came to sit down there were old salsa cups sitting on the tables, covered in flies. Did I mention that the whole place is outside. Which is okay, it was covered and the sun wasn't shining directly on you. So that was okay I guess. One thing that gets me too, we walked up, we are looking at the menu, which is wide and sprawls across the inside of the trailer, and there is one window open so we are practically sticking our heads in the window to read the whole thing. But the order taker is standing there, pen in hand, staring at us like "can you hurry up and order please." We've never been here before. You think "customer service" would find that out, maybe offer suggestions? Nah, just a blank stare directly at us like we are wasting their time. I have no interest in returning here. Delicious! Great service (primarily Spanish speaking) and good prices. Authentic Mexican food in a cozy environment. We had a great time chatting and catching up with family over lunch here. There is a small indoor restaurant but a lot more space outdoors in the same lot. The outside area is open until 4am and on the weekends they have live music (with bleachers)! I will definitely check that out. Food can take an extra minute or two to get out to you, so don't delay in ordering if you have any hungry people in your party. The Mexican street tacos here are the real deal!!! I've had street taco at several different restaurants in the City and none of them come as close to authentic tacos from Mexico as Erick's Tacos. The charro beans are also some of the best I've had in San Antonio. Of course no Mexican restaurant is a Mexican restaurant unless they have good chips and salsa. This homemade salsa is really good. Corn in a cup, y'all! I don't think I need to say anything more, but I'm going to! We were in the neighborhood so I hopped on Yelp and decided we were gonna give this place a whirl! I'm so freaking happy we did! Not only is everything on the menu super affordable, it's super authentic as well! Tons of options and they have daily specials! We had the beef gorditas today and they were perfection! You can eat inside from the regular menu, or sit outside next door and try out a pina loca from their other menu! Service was prompt and we had some of the best sweet tea we've tried yet! Being from Louisiana means good sweet tea is a must! Stop in and check them out, you won't regret it! I'm always on the hunt for great breakfast tacos and I read a great Yelp review that completely sold me. We dined in the restaurant and the service was alright, definitely not friendly like other people claim. I chose to sit at a table in the corner that was facing the little open window to their kitchen and I witnessed a lot of hand to food action. Of course, I'm fine with my Mother handling my food but these guys had the tortillas in their hands while spooning in fillings. Also, I saw a cook hand pick a piece of bacon and place it in my Sister's taco! I would have left some of those things out of my review if the food was actually good and of great quality, but perhaps breakfast isn't one of their selling points. The bean and egg was alright, barbacoa was cold, picadillo was AWESOME, all my tortillas were cold and hard at the edges. My Sister said that the carne guisada beef was tough and almost inedible and her hand picked bacon was cold/consisted of nothing but fat. We were not impressed by the majority of our breakfast but I would recommend the picadillo and coffee! Although breakfast wasn't a hit, I wouldn't mind going back to try their mini tacos, picadillo(again), and charro beans. Next time, I hope to see at least a tissue paper or foil between cook and food. read more

I quite literally ate the best taco of my life. I know I just ate but this place was right near the Chinese restaurant, hong kong island. I've been hearing about this place for years. I got one Carnitas Taco on corn. The corn had the most intense corn Masa flavor I've tasted yet soft and homemade, and very corny. The carnitas was extremely moist yet carmelized very well, so flavorful. Their super hot green salsa has a little crema in it, so it's a little like Hot mayo. Their small soups start at 2 99. First time here and DEFINITELY will be back. The texture of the chips and the flavor of the salsa started things off on a great note. The cheese enchiladas were very good; the ranchero and poblano enchiladas were also tasty and the green enchilada was amazing. We enjoyed the steak fajita. The tacos were amazing!
