OMG, these guys are unbelievable. I accidentally locked my mom out of her store so I called Eric's Locksmith due to their outstanding reviews. Oh boy was I fooled. I asked him about the price and he told me that it would be "reasonable". They told me they would come in 15-20 minutes. He came 50 minutes later. My mom was standing outside the whole time waiting for him. I called the location again and they said to look for a white van. He didn't come in a van. Nothing professional about them. Then he worked for a WHOLE HOUR trying to get into her store. He brought a lot of gadgets but can't get past an old door and a mastersmith lock. WOW. Then he has the gall to charge my mom $165 for his shitty job. But adds he'll take $30 dollars off. So $135. My mom is flabbergasted. We've called Eric a few times to help us with various lock problems. The first time I called him was because I had put in a call to the larger more well-know businesses and they didn't return my call. The first place I called said it would be well after midnight that they would be able to get to me (it was 7:45PM at the time). After the master key to my condo building went missing, we had Eric come out and re-key the entire building. He always answers his phone and shows up when he says he will--if he can't make it, he will let you know. His prices are reasonable and he is very friendly. The building has over 30 locks that needed to be changed and we requested over 100 keys. Eric delivered all of this in less than a day. 15 months later, Eric's Locksmith saves the day again! On my way to an important company meeting, carrying my laptop bag, water bottle, heels, and iPhone, I managed to leave the house without my keys. As the door slams in my face, I realize the telltale lack of jingling a moment too late, and start to panic. Thankfully, I had my iPhone and immediately called Eric's. I was told a secret about my brand of lock once upon a time, by a great locksmith, that any locksmith can look up my key design and cut me a new key with just a serial number. After learning that, I emailed myself my serial number 3 years ago, and now I happily looked it up and gave that number to my Eric's Locksmith savior. My coworker drove me to where he was currently on a job nearby, and he promptly handed me a shiny new key. I gave him a rumpled $5 and dashed home to grab my keys, and made it to my meeting an hour away with time to spare. Not only did he tell me that good customer service was his priority, he chose to not abuse my moment of panic to screw me for a $100 house call and lock picking. What a gem! (Note: I stopped at Westwood Lock & Key on the corner of Westwood and Santa Monica Blvd on my way to meet the Eric's guy, and they LIED and told me cutting a key by serial number wasn't possible, and they'd have to make a housecall and drill my lock and replace it. Easily $150 because they knew I was in a bind. Once I started to walk away, they told me they in fact could, but for $25. I scoffed and went to meet my buddy from Eric's.) First off, I have to say that I am quite disturbed by this company's responses to the negative reviews below. I wonder if the owner understands that it makes them look completely unprofessional and, that this behavior alone should downright scare people away from using their services. I called to have a new key made for my motorcycle, as I had lost mine. I was told that the locksmith would be at my apartment the next day at the time that I requested (I specifically requested the next day). Later on, I called to get an estimate of the price. Without even trying to help me over the phone, the employee immediately told me that he would call me back to let me know. I never received a return call. The next day, I called again to confirm that they would be there at the agreed-upon time. Again, the individual hastily told me that he would call me back, and again, I didn't receive a return call. At that point, my confidence in them had been completely eroded, so I called and cancelled my appointment and found someone else. Would they have shown up? Who knows. Will I call them again? I've tried going to them twice, both times ending up on a residential street, and finding they're "not open" when I call.
