This is probably my best lock-out experience, ever. Eric is the nicest man! Super competent with his work, very knowledgeable, very professional, and extremely friendly. I needed my old door locks replaced. I called yesterday and he could've come right away but I wasn't ready so he's here today! I knew that due to the age of my building, a new lock wouldn't be perfect (without replacing my door completely, which was not an option) but Eric made it look way better than what I expected. He explained what he was doing, why he was doing it, and took his time to do it right. The door has always had a little give to it so I had to pull it tight to lock it - not anymore! He fixed that easily. I ended up having him install a second deadbolt and an August system and he made sure it worked perfectly before he would leave. The deadbolts move so smoothly that a baby could operate them now - and he told me that if that ever changes, to give him a call. He made all the copies of the keys, gave me recommendations, and even put a closet door handle on that I've been too lazy to do myself (it took him 1 minute). I'll for sure be using him anytime I need something done, especially considering the reasonable price for the extra deadbolt, all the keys, and how long he was at my place to make sure it went perfect. My sister likes leaving her bedroom door locked even when it's wide open. Incidentally, she's also an artist. So today, to prevent the cat from using her canvases as scratching posts I shut her bedroom door. Fast forward to 10 hours later when she gets home from work, only to discover that she's locked out. She threw a ginormous tantrum whereby it was decided by the jury that lives in her head that it was all my fault. Being the good sister that I am, I proceeded to spend the next hour and a half trying to get that stinking door open. I tried a butter knife and credit card to no avail. Then I tried to take off the doorknob but it was painted on. No go. Finally I took a screwdriver and hammer to it. I lost. At this point I knew I had to bring in the big guns and started calling locksmiths. The first guy I called said $95. Then I called Eric's Locksmith and he said $75, and with the Yelp discount it was $65. I also warned him that we had unsuccessfully tried to open the door ourselves. So when he promptly arrived, the doorknob was a mess. The traditional lock picking devices (?) he originally tried didn't work thanks to my handy work. He had to drill through the lock to get it open. But get it open he did! And I shall remain thankful that I did not die at the hands of a crazed artist. read more
