My wife and I grabbed a quick bite. Erik's Reuben: Pastrami, Swiss, sauerkraut, Erik's Thousand Island, on swirl rye bread. Served warm (4/5). One of my favorites here at Erik's. Flavorful and meaty. The tartness of the sauerkraut with the thousand island dressing was good. Service was friendly and welcoming.

I have passed by this place dozens if not hundreds of times only to come here in the pursuit of healthy food. I ordered two items, the pilgrims progress and tomato soup cup. I was impressed, you got a decent food place offering healthier food options with healthier nutritional value. Sometimes we all just need some quality sandwiches and not the usual.... Places

    Delicious half sandwich combo

Call me old school or old fashioned sometimes, but I really do enjoy good tasting sandwiches and soups anytime. This location really cares about their customers and train staffs well. I've been visiting since they opened a few locations back then. Erik's DeliCafe has been successfully serving the San Francisco Bay Area for many good years and the chain has expanded. Good menu selections and good foods for everyone. Sandwiches used to be less than $10, but it's still a very good option in today's inflationary economy under $15 each. Inexpensive and affordable good taste. For me, it's always the half sandwich half soup combination that keeps me revising. For $11.99, I got the half chicken pesto sandwich and half tomato basil soup which comes with a piece of green dill pickle, an orange slice, and a glass cup for water as desired. Very happy as always. Simple and very good. Managers are always good at the job. There used to be more Hispanic employees in the past. Nowadays, they are training anyone fit for the job. All of them are helpful and you can easily spark up a casual conversation with them. Clean and organized. The cafe isn't fancy or anything that stands out, but you will be able to find quiet & comfortable seats and tables inside. They are worth tipping here. Feels like a great local family. They've been around since I got hired nearby decades ago, my volunteer days, went through few job promotions throughout my career, retirement, etc. I would use them for catering too. Thank God they survived the pandemic and haven't excessively raised food prices like other sandwich places. Worth visiting for casual quick simple meals.

Erik's Burger (ham, Swiss, gooey sauce, sprouts on an onion bun)

Erik's motto "Sandwiches with character" still holds true. I've been sliding through the Milpitas spot for 30 years and every bite takes me back like a family recipe to when everything was simple. These dayz there's louder flavors, bigger portions, and TikTok influenced sandwich joints everywhere. But sometimes, you just wanna rewind and take it back. The ambiance here brings back that vibe. Front and center: my jam right here is called the classic Erik's Burger with ham, Swiss, that gooey Erik's sauce, sprouts on a warm onion bun. Add the pasta salad, and boom... straight 90s lunchtime nostalgia.

I've been going there for over 35 years but didn't realize it was there still so I've been going back the last 3 years. I love the pilgrim progress, very healthy and good. They give senior citizens discount. It depends who's working there if you're gonna get it automatically.

This place is my oasis all the time. Friendly staffs, calm atmosphere. I love the fresh sandwiches and delicious clam chowder. (half & half)

Met the boyfriend here on his lunch break. We ordered our favorites from the Erik's Deli menu. Sat outside on a warm sunny weekday afternoon. Service was fast -- they brought our sandwiches out. The sandwiches were fresh as always. Produce and meats are of good quality, and the bread never disappoints. Good location. Ample parking.

Hilarious marketing picture. They're measuring it width-wise over length-wise. Also the measuring tape isn't even synced up. LOL!

It's the most average of sandwiches/soups/salads available. Does the job honorably, but that's it. If you're writing home about it but grew up eating sandwiches your entire life, then perhaps you ought to continue to try more tasty foods. Their MO is to put sprouts in their sandwiches. If you have a sweet spot for sprouts, this place may be for you. Service is good, workers are kind, and I really like them. I do like the convenience of ordering through their app and picking it up in a shelf near the quick take-out door. The app is pretty outdated though, but gets the job done. Also, their portion sizes aren't the greatest either. I would consider it on the medium/small size of sandwich offerings in today's world. Maybe in the 70s-80s they would've been above average, but not today. Lastly, their marketing picture on their app for their Big "E" sandwich always cracks me up. They're measuring the sandwich using a measuring tape, but it's width-wise and not length-wise. I understand you can't see the insides as well, but I'm not sure you can get an accurate read doing it that way.

    Pilgrim's Progress on sourdough bread

If you're asking me where to get a sandwich, 9 times out of 10, I'll recommend Erik's DeliCafé. I always go for their famous Pilgrim's Progress on sourdough, and there's just something about the combo of their secret goo and sprouts that makes it unbeatable. It's a hearty meal that leaves me satisfied without feeling overly stuffed or sluggish afterward. You can't go wrong with a sandwich, chips, and soda for lunch that always hits the spot. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that they consistently forget my pickle!

Excellent sandwiches! Could be a little more generous with the content, but can't beat the price! Fast and made fresh. Went there to order 5 sandwiches and some soups, once order was taken took about 15 minutes. Entire bill was under $70! And included pickles. Everyone loved their sandwiches and soups. We got Rio Grande, Ceasar Salad Wrap, Raging Bull, tomato basil soup (very hearty & yummy!) Isle of Capri & Chicken pesto sandwiches. We all were full & happy! Perfect choice for quick lunch.

Sorry to ding a local spot but I did not enjoy my sandwich. I ordered the half Pilgrim's Progress on sourdough with cup of clam chowder. The chowder was good but the sandwich was dryyy. Dry bread, dry turkey, not enough goo. One anorexic slice of tomato and barely any onion. I liked the sprouts though. On top of that, my friend ordered a full sandwich but the cashier charged it wrong and gave her a half sandwich so that took some time to clear up. Kindly they quickly made her another half sandwich.

Then I realized the video was highlighting the best food spots in San Jose! I live in West SJ and it's a 20 minute drive to Antipasto, but I didn't mind, I had to find out for myself. I hurried up and went there immediately, only to realize they were closed on Mondays. My mistake, I actually went online to check their schedule, and got into the menu a bit too passionately, that I forgot to actually check their hours. So I went back on Wednesday, and decided to double check that they were actually open this time. Upon walking in, I was a little intimidated to be honest. Everybody looked like a regular, while I walked around like a headless chicken trying to figure out which side of the store to go to. Nick noticed that, and went out of his way from behind the counter to guide me and my wife. He let us know where to go for sandwiches, the butcher, raviolis, etc... Me and my wife got the lasagna dinner with 2 meatballs, and TBC beef ravioli W/ salads. It was love at first bite. This place was better than all the Italian places in San Jose, without a doubt. Yes, I'm talking to you Original Joes and Maggiannos. All throughout our meal, we noticed people chatting with Nick and the rest of the staff as if they were family. Who knows they might be! Nick continued to include us by talking to us and making us feel welcomed. We are fans for life! Great food, great service, what else can you ask for? I just can't believe I never knew about this place after living in San Jose for 30 years.

The location of the store seems a little far away because it's in the corner by Safeway's gas station off to the side, so I imagine some people miss it. So keep an eye out for it next time you're in the mood for some hot subs. Chris, the owner, was so kind and explained everything to us. He was patient, informative, and professional. It's nice to see owners work at times and treat their customers so genuinely! So thank you, Chris! The store is honestly decorated so well. There's details everywhere on the wall, and it's all dedicated to San Jose culture and first responders. The ambiance felt local and cool. Now for the food, my husband ordered the Build Your Own Sub with Pastrami and it was delicious! I ordered their new and off the menu French Dip sub with aus ju and IT WAS SO GOOD. Highly recommend to get it now while they have it! Special notes: - All subs are served hot! - They have a hot sauce bar with unique sauces all leveled off from (1-10). 1 = mild and 10 = spiciest! Affordability: both of our subs came out to be around $20 for two large subs. Some people may view the prices as pricey, but if you get a large sub it's definitely worth it. Check out the photos for reference (I don't think the photos do the large size justice though because they are HUGE) and give Firehouse Sub a try for yourself!

Thought I'd give it a try. I like sandos....err subs. I placed an order online and picked it up without any issues, just the way it should be. My order was ready and waiting for me when I got there. The venue at the corner of a newer shopping plaza. There is a decent amount of seating inside and outside as well along with plenty of parking around. #Sandos: ~ Hook & Ladder - 3.5/5 The most basic one...I think. Smoked Turkey breast, Honey Ham, and melted Monterey Jack cheese, served with lettuce, tomato, onion, no mayo for me, and deli mustard with a pickle spear on the side. The sub were just okay for me, nothing amazing. ~ Firehouse Steak & Cheese (Large) - 3/5 Looks much better in the brochure. It's fine, tasted OK. Nothing to brag about, don't let the sando sit around. Make sure you finish it all at once or it will get soggy... may be its because of the oil and vinegar dressing I opted for? Not sure... The wheat bread is a tad too sweet for my liking and the white bread is just plain and flavorless. I do wish they provided options like Sourdough or Dutch Crunch, which also happen to be healthier for you. I wanted to complain that they were expensive but then realized that's how it is everywhere now. That food inflation is no joke... I'd stop by if nothing was around. Not so sure I need to try other items on the menu.
