Erik's Deli has been around for as long as I can remember. I probably haven't been to this location in oven 5 years but everything felt the same when I last visited a couple weeks ago to meet up with some friends. Erik's is known for their sandwiches (Pilgrim's Progress is one of their most popular ones) that come with lots of sprouts and their carrot cake. I wasn't very hungry and opted for the half soup half house salad combination for $7.95 ($9.50 for the half soup and half sandwich option). I chose the tomato bisque soup. When I went to pay for my order, I noticed I didn't get any bread too go with my soup. When I asked, they said it's an additional $0.50. I want to say bread used to be included? I ended up getting the bread to go with my soup but it regretted it immediately. It was dry and tasted stale. The soup and salad both tasted fine but nothing too memorable. Next time, I'm going to just stick with getting their sandwiches. My coworkers both enjoyed their sandwiches and their bread was probably fresher than the small piece I got for my soup. read more

Erik's is a great default place if you're stuck on what to have for lunch. I'm a fan of the butternut squash soup and usually get a soup/sandwich combo. Butternut squash is my go-to soup, but I don't have a go-to sandwich. I find myself trying a few different ones each time. I've gotten the Erik Berger a few times and it was pretty good. Sometimes, they get a bit heavy-handed on their signature alpha sprouts, which are wonderfully healthy, but sometimes a bit overwhelming, taking over the flavor of the sandwich. I recommend asking for less sprouts if you can remember. Their fountain drinks are served in mason jars and they have Coke Zero. You get your own soda from the fountain, so refills are also a nice extra perk. In addition to sandwiches and soups, they've also got delicious desserts. Those cookies have yet to fail me. The place is always kept clean, service is great, and it's in a tucked-away area of the shopping center which is nice and less busy. read more

My favorite Pilgrim's Progress is my favorite of the classic. The sandwich with 9 grain bread, turkey, avocado, sprouts, onions , tomatoes and that secret goo sauce is out of this world. This is one of my favorite chain restaurants. The sandwiches are not the normal run of the mill. It's like a super sandwich you would build at at home if you had a salad bar of stuff you could add. We ordered a Door Dash pick up this evening which were sandwiches, soup, and salad. As we pulled into the parking lot, the Erik's Deli side was quite busy with cars going in and out, so we ended up parking to the right near the Cheese steak place. We noticed there was only one other set of people siting down eating and there was no line at the register. I let them know we were there for a Door Dash pick up and they said it wasn't ready yet. They guy behind the counter was polite and continued to finish our order. It was completed about 5 to 10 minutes after the pick up time. Since we weren't in a rush a little extra wait time was OK. I had really high hopes coming to this place, ready for a tasty, filling, healthy sandwich. I've never seen this chain before, so I decided to order the turkey walnut sandwich and honestly it tasted like something I could make myself. It wasn't really cheap at $9 either. The bread was boring and cold and dry and it didn't seem like there was sauce or any meat. I didn't really taste anything -- it was like it was flavorless. I also have had the Sea dog, which is a tuna melt. I expected it to be much larger, but when it came out, it looked a bit disappointing. very small sandwich and the cheese that was on the tuna seemed to be coming off. Still very very filling though. I didnt expect it to be, but i guess the toasted sourdough bread (awesome) and the tuna are very hearty together. I always get the butternut squash soup with my combo and its sweet and delicious. It has a nice puree to it, so its more creamy than liquid. really hits the spot while having a cold sandwich. Experienced above and beyond service that this review couldn't wait. I'm literally sitting in the store front parking lot writing this review. It's Teacher Appreciation week and I wanted to do something special for the teachers at my kids school. What better way of showing Thanks and gratitude for taking such wonderful care of my twins than feeding them.. right?! So I give them a call as I'm on my way over, about 9:20am. They do not open until 10am, but since I'm in the area I figure I just call on a whim. By my surprise they pick up!
