Was really liking Eriks Deli near my office and started taking lunch meetings there daily, went about 4 times in 1.5 weeks. Good sandwiches. Well, today I felt very unwelcome. I tried to order what I always get there and was told no, only to pick from menu. They do not do any changes anymore. Tried to ask about and just got mumbled at. Man would not give his name or talk to me, just went back to work. My business is not even a block away and I was coming here often with employees but now feel very unwelcome and will look for another spot to make my place. Since I buy lunch for my staff regularly, this is a costly rude person for this business. Hope he is the owner not just working there. Then if he wants to treat customers so rudely its his choice. I got a message from corporate and they gave me a code for a free sandwich. But when I went back to use it, I showed them the code, it didn't work and I had to pay for my sandwich! Disappointing experience. I ordered online for pickup and arrived even a few minutes after the scheduled pick up time, expecting my food to be ready. However, it took more than 20 minutes from the time I placed my order, and it hadn't even started yet when I got there. The staff had to ask me what I ordered and then made it on the spot, which was a bit disappointing considering I was on a short lunch break. When I checked my sandwich before leaving, I noticed they had forgotten the sprouts. When I went back inside, I was told they were out of sprouts--something I wish I had been told earlier, either when I placed the order or while they were preparing it. I would have appreciated the heads-up so I could decide on something else. They offered lettuce as a replacement, but unfortunately, it was wilted and lacked any crunch. It wasn't fresh and really affected the overall quality of the sandwich. Overall, the communication about ingredients and the condition of the food didn't meet expectations, especially considering the price. The food is just okay. I could make a better sandwich at home. I asked what the most popular was and they said the CA crunch. Umm there was no crunch they gave me just basic bread. The sandwich came with a pickle and slice of orange. The orange looked very un appealing it looked like it was from yesterday as it was very pruned. I asked for a cup of water and they told me ohh the machine isn't working. So I'm like fine I'll get a fountain drink and they sold me that when I went to the machine the water spout was working just fine . I don't think they realized I'm a Spanish native speaker and they were talking bad about other employees out loud in Spanish which doesn't sounds to professional. I want to like this spot for their good sandwich combinations but execution was lacking. Bread was tough to the bite and the foundation of a sandwich heavily relies on the bread. Because of the difficulty, sandwich contents would fall apart before I could actually tear the sandwich. I got the Sea Dog with a brownie on the side. Sea Dog Sandwich with Smoked Bacon - added some bacon cause why not and actually really liked the smoked flavor. The Sea Dog is a classic tuna sandwich and has some avocado for a fatty, creamy enhancement. Contents were great but again, the bread was tough to bite and this meant my sandwich fell apart with each bite with the crust still in tact. Peruvian Chocolate Manifesto Brownie - a fairly large and chocolately brownie but not dense at all so I'm conflicted about how to feel. Our company orders food from this place quite often. They have a good amount of vegetarian selections and the sandwiches are great. However, the last time I got a salad, there were so many wilted pieces of lettuce that were turning. It was such a turn off to pick out so many pieces of lettuce that has gone bad. Barely any Turkey on this Rio Grande Club. Scared to see what the other sandwich will look like as it's for someone who works night shift and I won't know until they tell me. For $22 and change on two sandwiches and bags of chips that's ridiculous. Employees are very nice. Not sure if they are being instructed to use less meat, but it's happening and it's disappointing. A Vegetarian's Dream Lunch! Love their Del Monte Special sandwich loaded with fresh avocado, sprouts, tomato, red onion and Monterey Jack cheese with their special goo on fresh bread! Not a bad place to grab a bite in this shopping plaza. "Sandwiches with character" is the slogan, though I would argue there's nothing unique about these sandwiches except their names. The $7 Pilgrim's Progress is an enjoyable sandwich with turkey, avocado, onions, tomatoes, sprouts, mayo and mustard on 9-grain wheat bread. It also comes with a pickle and a slice of orange. The ingredients tasted fresh, I was glad to see several layers of meat in the sandwich, though as a whole it was only moderately filling. For the price, the portion size was fair. But I don't know what this sandwich has to do with the John Bunyan novel by the same name. I certainly don't remember there being turkeys in that story. Perhaps there's something about this sandwich related to persistence through adversity or treasures in heaven that I'm missing. read more

Bread is super stale at this location, couldn't even bite my sandwich. Soups are diluted with water which makes the soups have no flavor and as if you just eating hot water. Comically terrible experience. I ordered the Del Monte Special and my fiance ordered the Natural High, both with soups on the side. My Del Monte came without sprouts. My fiance's sandwich came without mushrooms, sunflower seeds, or sprouts. It was just a grilled cheese in pita. We went up to ask what was going on and they said, "Oh yes, we ran out of sprouts." I asked why they didn't tell us when we ordered, they said they didn't know. I asked why they didn't tell us when they delivered them to our table, they shrugged and said they'd give us lettuce instead. What?? On the positive side, they made me something new for free... Unfortunately, it was the Mediterranean Veggie Wrap, which tasted terrible. Mostly like basil and canned roasted red peppers swimming in italian dressing. Bad bad bad. Not their fault here, just a poor concept overall. On the actual positive side, the buttenut squash soup is absolutely killer. This is a nice little cafe in a great location. The sandwiches are very good -- somewhat better than places like Subway. They aren't quite up there with sandwich shops like Ike's or Driftwood, but they're still tasty (and inexpensive). The soups/bread bowls are good too. The parking issue at this location is perplexing. There is plenty of parking; however, it is often difficult to find a spot. Erik's deli makes a quality sandwich, and they are really quick, despite most locations being busy during the lunch hour. Sure, its not your hometown mom and pop sandwich shop, but for a chain, it easily stomps all over togos and subway. I'd say its second to only Mollie Stone's or Wholefoods. The produce is ripe and fresh, the meat has nice taste, and they aren't shlopped with mayo and sauces. The only issue is that the sandwiches are indeed a bit small. Get a side of soup or potato salad though, and you're set. read more

I know these sandwich spots exist for a reason (or really want to believe*), so I blame myself on Round #1. I got the Durango Chicken without the special sauce (and it came with the special sauce.....), and it was not good. I didn't find out about the sauce until we got to work and tried to wipe it off, but it didn't really help. Something just didn't taste right about the whole thing. I will now be a frequent customer at this location as it's super close to work and different than Subway. Sometimes I want a heartier sandwich and that's what ya get there. Now there are 2 totally different experiences here. First is going here- you walk and there is a very small order/waiting area. If there are too many people in line, you are waiting at the door and are totally in the way. There are a decent number of tables if you wanna eat, but if you are getting to go, you must wait around awkwardly in the small area and try not to be in everyone's way. I ordered 2 sandwiches and waited, luckily not too long. One was labeled, one was not. Pilgrim progress was super yum and a huge sandwich, and that's my usual go to. Now the 2nd is ordering via doordash- and this part is strictly for the restaurant. When we do a large order for work, I have placed instructions to write everyone's name on the sandwich and they can't seem to do this. read more

So I work across the street, and decided to stop by here for my lunch for a sourdough bread bowl with the vegetable vegetarian soup. The lady that rung me up, was very rude and not attentive at all.
