We got our order to go for a picnic in the park. Our family really likes the butternut squash soup in a bread bowl so three of us got that while I tried their Cali Classico! Food came out quick and well wrapped to go. I wasn't sure what to expect but I'm a sucker for Dutch crunch with turkey, bacon avocado so I did it! I thought the only spread they had was the pesto based on when I asked at ordering, but they had some sort of creamy almost mayo thing on the bottom which I would've asked to remove, but otherwise it was good! Nothing earth shattering but a solid sandwich! It might have been my first time trying a healthy sandwich from them. Could be a LOT cleaner. A staff of 5 working here. Not one customer and yet clearly the manager keeps a low bar for OVERALL cleanliness. I will include photos. This place needs a deep cleaning as it appears to have years upon years of dirt built up. So disappointing. A staff person is sweeping but as I said ~ DEEP cleaning is required and something that would need to be done with strong cleaners during non operating hours. This is a wonderful restaurant- wonderful decor and ambiance so once it is SPARKLING CLEAN I recommend specific changes need to be made. 1. Obsessed with the Pilgrims Progress Sandwich. The 9-grain wheat bread, avocado, turkey, sprouts, secret goo... everything goes together so well. I usually get the bread toasted and it is so good. I've tried a few other sandwiches on the menu and they are all super tasty but I always seem to come back to the Pilgrims Progress. Just a good classic sandwich. I am a very regular to this place and keep picking my sandwiches. My favorites are del monte and farmer's market sandwiches. Ingredients are always so fresh and each sandwich is loaded with tons of ingredients which is difficult to put together at home. Staff is really friendly and super helpful. They always make accommodations for any and every request. I always call them to place order and now the guy recognizes my voice :). I downloaded their app which is very convenient to place order and add loyalty points. If you forget to add points while buying, just scan the bar code on receipt to add the points later. Very sad with the quality of sandwich and service I have less than an hour for lunch so I try to utilize my time. I called Erik's deli to place a pick for a chicken pesto sandwich. "You only want to get one sandwich?" Was the response that I got... I replied "Yes". I really thought it was weird on how the tone of voice sounds incredulous that I am making a phone order for just one item... I felt very judged. For pick up time I asked if it could be made as soon as possible since I work nearby, they said "oh I'll put it down for 5-10 minutes", when I picked my sandwich it had "10 minute" pick up on it. To cap it all, my chicken pesto was not good... there was too much bread, not enough chicken and it was not toasted! I only had one bite and did not bother to finish the rest... I was looking for a place to grab lunch for me & my mom (she's in the South Bay for a bit right now) and Erik's came up in Yelp. I got there right when they opened and the guy was super nice & helpful. I got two Dub Club sandwiches & took 'em over to where my mom is for lunch. WOW! My first visit at Erik's and I was impressed. Impressed with the customer service, cleanliness, fresh quality food. Emanuel helped us and was very kind. I asked him an allergy question and he pulled out the binder to make sure for me. This is so important, because certain food allergies can be life-threatening. While waiting for our sandwich ( Pilgrims Progress ) which, by the way, was delicious, I noticed how the staff were all friendly to all of the customers. I am more then pleased with this place. Very clean and cool collection of things to see while you sit and enjoy your meal. Very clean and the staff here are seriously amazing ( saul ) made me go from a very stressful day of moving and getting use to my new job to feeling at peace and taken care of. Best experience ever. Manuel is the owner/operator and really helped with with my company's group order. The order via DoorDash failed and I ended up calling and placing the order for 12 people to be delivered in less than 1.5 hours. The hubs and I were visiting my Mother-In-Law at the hospital on Saturday and stopped here on our way home. I ordered our usual (Pilgrims Progress with lettuce) house salad and a bag of chips (we split everything). I really like that Erik's is so close to the Hospital because I really hate hospital food and this is a great alternative when ya got to feed your tummy. The staff were nice and the dinning area was clean which in some of the other locations isn't the case. I can't tell you how many times I've had to bus my own table at the one in Gilroy. So this was a nice change. The sandwich was fine, nothing "fantastic" but the house salad is just weird. I don't understand the whole pasta salad on my baby greens. Strange. Will we be back? I avoided this place for years after my last experience, but was convinced to try it again by someone who knew the owner and said it had really improved since. My experience this time was very different. The NE clam chowder was deeelicious! My favorite sandwich, Natural High, tasted as good as I remembered from before. Kind of hidden on the side/corner of the shopping center at Grant and El Camino and parking is a bit of a challenge... I met a business partner here for a meeting and we were able to order lunch, hang out a table in the back, use the Google wifi and get some work done for a few hours. The staff was very friendly and helpful and happy to have us there. I had the shrimp louis salad which came with a large hunk of seeded baguette. It was definitely more than enough food and a reasonable caloric value if you didn't dump dressing all over it or eat all the bread. The shrimp was surprisingly fresh so I would order it again. Also had a cup of coffee later on and it was fresh... a pleasant surprise since a lot of places leave it sitting to burn.
