We came here to rent snow shoes to take into RMNP. The service was so helpful and so friendly. She gave us all the tips and tricks and when we returned the rentals, they were all genuinely interested in our experience with the snow shoes. We were headed out to do a hike and I realized that I forgot my hammock so we stopped here on our way to get one. I love this place! The staff has to be the most fun and nice group of people I've ever met. Feel like I could have hung out with them all day lol They have a huge variety of stuff, you can't even believe how big the building is. If you go downstairs they have a lot of discounted stuff and they also do rentals. read more

Went to the visitor center and they recommended this place for rentals. My girlfriend and I were about to do some hiking and needed metal spikes for shoes and some poles. What made this place even better was their super friendly staff. They shared their knowledge of the trails and recommendations with us. Definitely stop here for all your hiking needs. read more

Amazing experience renting gear two times in the holiday week. We had a large party all with different ski / snowboard needs. The gentlemen with short a beard helped us and was so knowledgeable, quick and supportive. It was 50$ per gear rental which is under 1/2 the price of the mountain rentals, great value. Highly recommend if you're heading to a mountain from Estes park. read more

There's a ton of stuff for any number of outdoor activities (eg, hiking, snowshoeing, etc.), but best of all the prices were reasonable. You also have the possibility of renting some gear if that's your preference. read more

Loved this rental shop - helped us navigate the winter wonderland of the Rockies. Back in November, we were doing several hikes in the Rocky Mountain National Park and the employees gave us hiking maps, directions and helped us rent gear. Recommend it for renting YakTrax plus poles. Two sets of both were total of 40 dollars. Very affordable, and rentals were for a 24 hour period. They make you fill out a waver and overall, very fast and easy process. Also have several other rentals: pair of snowshoes, sledding, snow pants, boots or a winter coat etc. read more

A great pit stop before Rocky Mountain National Park to stock up on anything you need!! We planned on hiking Alberta Falls in mid May. Good thing I happened to read some reviews recommending this place to rent micro spikes as the trail was snowy. The spikes were only $10/day and easily the best money I've ever spent. The trail turned out to be 90% snow. I know I would've struggled so hard and had multiple slips if I didn't have spikes. Staff here was super friendly also and recommended trails for us to check out. read more

This place has been my one stop shop for when I visit Estes park. It will print fishing licenses for you, give you snow spike rentals, let's you rock climb inside, has great sales on hiking boots and have lots of clothing options. I'm sure this place is capable of so much more but these are the services I used and noticed here. The workers are all friendly and helpful while being locals so make sure to ask them what the best attractions in town are. read more

Such a cool place for indoor rock climbing- especially when the weather isn't warm outside. Took my 8.5 year old boys and they had a blast. This site offers Intro sessions (3 climbs for $25). The coaches were awesome! So patient and helpful. Definitely recommend this site!!! read more

Loved this shop! Way better than I imagined... it's not very well organized but that's because there's so many amazing items here. The rock climbing gym is small but great for a mid-day adventure. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We made a few trips here because of the May snow caught us off guard. There's access to the trail around the back side of the store to the back of dam. Locals say fishing is great where the dam flows into the river. Thankful to have found this place and will definitely stop in again next time we're in the area! read more

We rented snowshoes and poles here for RMNP. The process was very quick, we were out in 15 minutes with recommendations for a place for breakfast, where to go cross country skiing (on another day), and assurances that the roads into RMNP were now open (they'd been closed for black ice but the staff was on it, making sure we could use our rentals). The rentals were inexpensive, reliable (MSR snowshoes), and in good condition. We will definitely rent here again. read more

Our family was leaving on a trip to Iceland in a few days including a two year old. We needed a backpack to carry the toddler. A staff member patiently helped & advised us while we put the kid into every toddler-carrier they had and walked around inside & outside the store to try each one. The one we really loved had waist/hip straps that weren't long enough for one of our family members. Another employee, Dave, volunteered to take the pack home with him and to both provide, and sew on new extra long straps to solve that issue. Dave did indeed do that for us, and refused to accept any money! Absolutely amazing customer service! read more

Amazing place!! Everyone here was so helpful and kind. I rented snowshoes (only five dollars for the entire day!) and the guy working showed me how to use them and gave some useful tips. As a non-outdoorsy person, I also had regular boots on and those didn't feel good with the snowshoes so they also were able to rent me some appropriate winter boots. All the equipment was in good shape. The whole process was easy and everyone made me feel comfortable. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to rent equipment! read more

Absolute stop by the mountain shop when you visit Estes! They have tons of clothes and gifts, probably the largest selection in Estes. They also have tons of rental gear and expertise. We have rented from them on multiple occasions both in the summer and winter and always have a great experience. They have a huge selection of rental gear that is well priced and the staff are super enthusiastic. For a town so small, this shop is MASSIVE. It's downright CAVERNOUS. They have anything you could ever need for adventures in the mountains. While we were there, they were having a crazy sale (20% off everything?!) The staff were all seasoned climbers and had great beta about climbs in the area. There's also a rock wall in here, not sure if it's a rock gym or just a place to test out shoes. The bathroom was nice too. read more

I specifically rented an E bike from this company because they do the tours of the Old Fall Rivers Road to the Alpine Center. The person who rented me the bike told me not to charge it for more than four hours. So that night I charged it for exactly 4 hours. The next day I took off on my ride. I made it 4.5 miles, then the battery died. It is a one-way road! I had to push 50 pound bike 6 miles with an elevation gain of over 2500 feet starting at 9500 feet. I am 58 years old woman. When I complained them, the worker just brushed it off like it wasn't a big deal. It was a big deal! They should train their staff better. read more

Wow! Still speechless from our snowshoe guided tour this morning. Charles Jones, our guide, was fantastic! He personalized the tour to our liking and had a wonderful personality. His knowledge of the area, birds, trees, trails, and animals made this trip something we will never forget. We would never have experienced RMNP like this on our own. This is THE place to go before heading up to RMNP, ESPECIALLY in the winter. The staff here is very knowledgeable about the park and the gear. They will let you know what gear is the best for where you're going to hike and what the weather is like. They have great rental gear. I have rented from here a handful of times and each time the gear is great and it's just want I needed for the day. Great prices too. This is a must before heading up to the park. read more

The bike shop was amazing! I brought my road bike in because I broke the chain and don't have great knowledge on bike repair. The repair person took my bike right away, fixed it with no problem and even took the time to explain a lot about bike mechanics to me. The shop also has a ton of outdoor gear and clothing! Super easy to rent winter equipment. They recommended not using show shoes for RMNP starting at Bear Lake and higher; but the ranger station at Bear Lake recommend snowshoes. Either at spikes worked great and super friendly staff. read more

Love me some North Face gear and this place is the spot to get it. We were vacationing in Colorado and needed some last minute cold weather gear. We stumbled upon this store by accident and boy are we glad we did. The staff was sooo friendly and informed us about the "bargain basement". The angels sang. Holy moly! We went down there and there were so many great items at a great price. I fell in love with a great North Face fleece and was able to buy it at 30% off. Don't pass this place up if you are near Estes Park. We may even be returning for a second shopping spree before we leave to go back to Illinois. Oh how I wish we had one of these back at home. read more

The perfect stop for all of your rental needs! My friend and I stopped in to rent a sled and some snow boots (no we don't have any, we're from Arizona) and received the most excellent service. It was our first time heading into the Rockies so we were nervous, but everyone was very attentive and gave us great tips. I figured that every thing would be way overpriced since it was the only rental shop I could find in town, but the prices were very reasonable. Had the best rock climbing experience with our guide Bob. We chose to do the 6 hour climb, and not only did we get to climb and repel, we actually learned how to do it all ourselves. After the climb I feel very confident that we could go out and do a climb on our own now. I have no clue how the Allen screw loosened, but they kept rotating while he was riding. So after getting an ice cream we rode over to Mountain Rentals and I sent him inside to ask to use an Allen wrench. He came back out a minute later and said he couldn't do it. So I went inside and smiled and said, "Hey his handlebars are loose and we would like to just borrow an Allen wrench. We can stand right there by the front door and it will only take like 3 seconds." The dude refused. He said, "The shop tools are only to be used inside the shop, and we don't work on bikes." I'm honestly floored he would refuse. I bet you could walk into 49 other shops with tools and they would gladly offer goodwill to a community member in an awkward situation--potentially dangerous, even.

He once had a home here and opened a lodge for hunting and fishing. Sprague then added cabins to the property and made it a hotel in the early 1900's. This area eventually became a part of Rocky Mountain National Park.

We have also been here as a family during the summer and the pool is lovely. You would want to come early and get a nice shady spot because they will be taken up fast. My kiddo had to do a swimming test to use the diving board in the summer and she failed both times so she had to stay in the larger shallower end of the pool. I appreciated their dedication to safety.

Also looking at prices on this yelp, they have gone up significantly. I see people complaining about $10 a few years ago. It was $25 per adult this time. That was crazy to me, but we had already made this plan and had driven 45 minutes for this, plus it's in the vacation budget. If I lived here I would not come back because of that price. Also if you don't have a towel, they cost $20. This place is beautiful and I loved my time here, it will be a great memory, but that price is crazy. If I come back to Denver I may look for another place that may be like this.

The ground squirrels were fun and entertaining to watch. Because they are used to people feeding them, they come right up to you and beg. The short trail around the lake is easy and level. It is about 0.8 miles round trip and offers great views of Longs Peak, Mount Meeker and Twin Sisters. If you want something more challenging, you can jump on the Storm Pass Trail from here. Rocky Mountain Park requires a online timed entry reservation made in advance during peak season.

We had about 24 golfers out on the course and a bunch more meet us at the clubhouse for lunch after, and from start to finish the staff was prompt, polite, and somehow on top of every single thing. We coordinated everything with Aaron Tulley, who was a total pro. He set us up with longest drive and closest to the pin contests while we were out there, which turned a fun round into a genuinely competitive (loving, mostly) family showdown. Aaron stayed ahead of every detail so we never had to think about logistics, which is exactly what you want a few days before getting married. Then there is the food. The kitchen has been newly redone and it shows, because lunch was incredible, and at a price that made us double-check the bill in a good way. And the views. My God, the views. Getting our flat-as-a-pancake Midwest family out onto a mountain course like this was an absolute top-tier experience. Everyone was smiling the entire time, including the people who had never broken 100 in their lives. Special shoutout to the starter, who got our entire group off the first tee with grace and good humor while we were, let us be honest, deeply hungover and schlepping around pre-round like a herd of confused deer. That is customer service. If you are looking for a stunning, welcoming, well-run course in Estes Park, this is the one. Five stars and a longest drive trophy to the whole staff.

Fly Fishing!!! What an awesome experience! Our guide, MATT, was incredible!! This was my first time with a fly rod in hand and MATT was a great teacher. He was very patient with me and gave easy to understand instruction. I'm hooked! He asked a lot of questions about what we expected from our day in the water and gave us exactly what we were looking for. I really appreciated that he seemed to genuinely be having a good time with us and was excited that my husband and I were steadily catching multiple species of trout! MATT was there for everything--tying line, unsnagging line, keeping me on my feet, netting fish, helpful direction, letting me work on my own, and of course a couple of laughs! His knowledge of the area was spectacular and he took us to an amazing spot for what was one hell of a first fly fishing trip!! I wish we had booked a full day trip instead of a half day! We had such a great time that we went back and rented gear to go out on our own with for the next three days. The prices were great and MATT and the staff gave us really good direction about where to strike out on the rivers for the next few days. SO MUCH FUN!! My friend Joe and I did a guided fly fishing trip with Matt and Jen! Matt and Jen were amazing, extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and put us on many fish! It was my friend Joe's first time fly fishing for trout and he landed a fish in the first five minutes for the day! We ended up catching about 24 fish between the both of us! Scheduled a post-wedding fly fishing trip for about 8 people. We loved it!! They took us to Sprague Lake (since we were all beginners). Setting was beautiful and the guide was knowledgeable and funny. Will definitely do this again when we go back read more

We did a 5-hour rental, which felt like the perfect amount of time to explore without feeling rushed. The equipment was in great shape, and even the truck used to haul the ATV and trailer to the trailhead was well-maintained--everything felt professional and dialed in. The team really made the experience stand out. Everyone we interacted with was fantastic, and Andrew in particular was a superstar--he handled both checkout and check-in, made everything easy, and clearly cares about making sure customers have a great time. Covid notice: only the driver is allowed back into building at a set time for instructions. There is social distancing and masks required in building when renting. Helmets are disinfected. We get in the vehicle we realize he gave my fiancé another persons rental ticket by the name Jorge Rodriguez. My fiancé is Hispanic... They suggested we would steal the spikes then gave my fiancé another Hispanic persons ticket. The people here are racist & liars. We called the following day to see if the money would reload to which we were told that they don't do refunds all of the sudden. Overall you'd be better off buying some on Amazon before your trip if you are a POC.

The lines can be long and we waited about 45 minutes to go up and another 25 minutes on the way down. Once at the top, there are hiking trails, some great overlooks, and of course spectacular views. I would say that the views are worth the price. You can buy peanuts to feed the chipmunks, which seemed to be a popular activity. The chipmunks were happy and well fed. The reason for 4 stars is the long wait in line. The views are 5 star but you have to be patient for the payoff.
