I used to come here for lunch when my workplace was closer, but now that I'm further I try to stop by once in a while to fulfill my cravings (since I crave it a lot, it's really that good). The Esther's Combo is my go-to & the chicken is mixed & seasoned to perfection - I honestly don't even know the full ingredient list, but the combination of the salad, rice, & sauce just hits the spot all the time. I feel healthy eating it & it's the only chicken salad that I can eat continuously without getting tired of it. I believe you can also replace some of the rice for more salad, which I appreciate. I've tried a few other items on the menu (egg salad is also great) but I keep coming back for the same thing. You can't go wrong with any of the entrees! I work at a school in Westminster, and I am always looking for different local businesses to try. When lunchtime approaches, my coworker and I are often stumped when deciding what to try. She mentioned Esther's Place as she had eaten there a few times with another colleague. I am always up for a good sandwich, so we agreed on this restaurant for lunch. My coworker picked up the food and brought it back. She mentioned to the owner that I had not yet eaten at this place. The owner was so sweet and gave a complimentary cup of soup since I was a brand new customer. Gotta love small businesses who show appreciation for new patrons! I had the chicken salad on wheat bread, and a vegetable soup which was perfectly hot on this cool, crispy day. The vegetable soup was flavorful and I did not feel like I was missing a protein. It had potatoes, celery, and carrots, perfectly cooked. Broth was tasty, would definitely purchase this in the future. The chicken salad was fresh and light, not lost in mayonnaise. My mom and I were in the area for a quick errand and we were craving an egg salad sandwich. Esther's place had that and more! As soon as we walked into the shop we were greeted warmly by Esther herself. She was in conversation with some other customers while we decided what to order but was still attentive, letting us know she was packaging up the Esther's Combo salad for them to-go. She also gave us a little bowl of soup (so good). The salad looked delicious so we decided to try that with an egg salad sandwich to share. We sat outside in the patio area. There's a few tables and the area is clean and quiet. Esther brought us a jug with lemon water since we hadn't chosen anything to drink. The food was soooo yummy!! And perfect for two to share. Been meaning to try this place out because I've heard such great things. I finally came here for lunch last week and was so glad I did! Esther seems so friendly!!! I got the half egg salad sandwich and split pea soup and the 14 carrots smoothie. The egg salad is thick and creamy with chunks of tomatoe and avacodo, this is not some small amount of egg salad...it was filling! The split pea soup tasted healthier and was not thick but had a lot of veggies in it. The 14 carrots was sooo good!! The best part of my lunch was the price - only $10.90 for all this food! I was shocked! I will definitely be back because the food was so good and the customer service from Esther was amazing. Travelled all the way from Torrance to Huntington Beach for my ServSafe proctor exam. While in the Old World plaza I decided to stop by this place. There is a tiny sign that says CASH only. Well, I didn't mind because I had my debit card and this place has an ATM, so I ate the food and then proceeded to get funds. Well, as luck will have it the ATM debited my account for $20.00 plus the $2.50 for the service fee, however to my surprise the ATM did not dispense my funds. Ok, I have been in business for twenty years and rule number #1 is make customers financial transactions easy and simple. If I am the owner of this restaurant and I only take CASH make sure the freaking ATM works. Due to COVID 19 we are becoming a cashless society. In conclusion, now I have to go all around town looking for an ATM to pay the owner. What really got me angry is she said "oh lunch is on me" Really ? Your salad was $12 with tax and now you are charging me $22.50. She refused to give me the contact number of the ATM vendor. I am so disappointed, I will never, ever, come back to this place as long as I live on this earth. And I will make sure to tell my friends and family to avoid visiting this place! Last, the food was mediocre at best. Not worth the $12 price. I went to a bank and paid her the money because I keep my word. So lady owner if your are reading this, make sure your ATM works So that your customers don't have to deal with this inconvenience and most importantly a waste of time!!!!
