Delicious cider and a welcome surprise in the wilds of Utah. Southern Utah is a remote place. I never expect amenities or cool hangout spots. Torrey surprised me in several ways, including this cool spot on the edge of a tiny town. Etta Place serves up delicious cider. They offer a large variety of flavors and are very good at describing them so you have an idea of what you're getting into. You can order a large pour or a flight. I chose a flight and my favorite was the Fig! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is comfy and lots of places to settle and enjoy your beverage.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Or you can venture out to the back patio and look at a lovely view of the wild Utah landscape.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd say the prices are comparable to other cider places I have visited. My husband really enjoys ciders and meads. So obviously we had to stop here. We were met at door with menus and a brief explanation. We each ordered a flight of 3 (5 oz total pour). Then I ordered another flight and my husband had a single 5 oz pour. They were very good. Had a very good selection. Some we obviously liked better than others. I like semi sweet, husband a little drier. They don't serve food, just snacks. This is a great place to hang out on a hot afternoon! We stopped in with our lunch from a food truck that we had no place to eat it, and we were happy to try some of the interesting cider here. The flights are a good price and they have so many unique flavors to try. The raspberry hibiscus mead was our surprise favorite! You can buy bottles to take home too! read more

Love the cider selection! We were told the apples are a part of a heritage orchard in Utah. The pineapple passionfruit cider and imperial cider are excellent! Robert, one of the owners, was very kind and descriptive to all of the varieties of cider bottles. There are British dry style ciders, semi dry with more apple character, then fruit puree mixed in flavored ciders. Definitely shows he cares a lot! Highly recommend for friendly ambiance and delicious cider The shop also has local farm fresh eggs (from one of their neighboring friends), snacks, cheese, and other cute gift items and local offerings. We spent a week touring Capitol Reef, and most afternoons we spent tasting beer, cider and meads at Etta Place. The proprietors, Ann Torrence and Richard Marc had clearly put a lot of energy, thought and effort into this lovely establishment. Their passion is cider and mead. With a nod to nearby Fruita, they planted their own apple orchard with 90 varieties and eventually started making cider. The selection is of ciders is great, and the meads are complex and interesting. But what we enjoyed most were their creative cocktails: new twists on old standards like the Etta Old Fashioned, an Apple Cider 75 and the Etta 'Rita. Each better than the last! Loved the name too: Etta Place was a very pretty partner in crime to The Sundance Kid, who is rumored to have had hideouts in the area. Great Atmosphere, fun locals and most definitely worth the visit! read more

Loved this couple. They are the sweetest! You can tell how much love and effort they out into this place. They also give you a tour in the back and explain the cider process and are willing to answer any questions. They have a nice size shop so you can grab a few drinks to go, merchandise, souvenirs etc. And in the back they have a nice tasting room set up. Very cute and very clean place. A must stop if you're around the area. I wasn't a big fan of the ciders but it was a great experience since I've never done a cider tasting before. My friend took a bottle! Awesome place. read more

Came in for a tasting on a Monday afternoon and got a private tasting with Ann, one of the owners. My boyfriend and I each got to try six ciders and a pommeau. The tasting room is a lovely space in the back and we felt truly treated. Ann gave great context about their ciders and their process, and she provided some local dinner recommendations, too! Ann and Robert, the owners, were so knowledgeable and friendly upon walking through the doors. Robert explained each of their ciders, their fig mead, and pommeau. Then, I did the tasting with Ann who gave more backstory about their business, their apple trees, and each of the ciders. Everything was delicious and unique to Etta Place. They have a great selection of some local products (jams, chocolates, caramels, etc.) as well. Small town shop with very friendly owners gives the whole place a very homey feel. Would highly recommend a stop here if you're staying or passing through Torrey! read more

My wife and daughter and I stayed overnight in Torrey, UT while visiting Capital Reef Nat'l Park. After dinner one night we decided to stop in at Etta Place Cider & Taproom to try some of their hard ciders on offer. We tried several ciders, including dry, off-dry and semi-dry varieties. All of them were tasty, but our fav was the semi-dry. Etta's also offer several proprietary meads, as well as a number of UT craft beers, spirits and cocktails. They also offer a variety of snacks to accompany your beverages of choice. I won't go into their history or how they came into being (you can read that on their website), but suffice it to say that the proprietors, Ann and Robert, have a genuine passion for brewing craft ciders and meads. As Ann said, "we brew what we like to drink" and based upon our limited samplings of their ciders, Ann and Robert have good taste! This is a MUST VISIT cidery and taproom if you plan on spending any time in Torrey. Ann and Robert will make you feel at home and help you navigate their extensive menu of ciders and meads; made from apples they source from their own orchards and those of their neighbors. The ciders are all top notch and really show an appreciation for the apples used rather than getting caught up in crazy flavors or being too wild. Due to Utah's rather odd alcohol laws, no tasting room. But they offer an educational tour which includes a tasting. The information on the ciders is very informative and interesting and the view is amazing! They also have various charcuterie snacks. We grabbed some snacks and took a couple bottles to go for a perfect happy hour back at our hotel overlooking Capitol Reef. read more

We walked in to try two flights of ciders and we walked out with 12 bottles of goodies and two chocolate bars. This is THE BEST cidery I had visited. Love ciders that aren't too sweet and have a great balance of flavors. Also tried their mead and I was instantly hooked. Robert is super nice and we chatted for a while. Stopped by because I love local craft breweries and distilleries. Had an amazing time with my partner-this place is great for a date night! We did a tasting with Robert, one of the owners. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about the hard cider industry, it was a joy to talk to him. He explained the differences in each cider variety, told us about his orchards, the fermenting process, recommended food pairings, the works! Our favorites were the Rosé and the Hopped varieties, and the fig mead was delectable. Bought a few things in the very cute gift shop, which has hats and tee shirts but also goat cheese, salami, crackers and spreads. You could make a killer gift basket with stuff from this place. You wouldn't necessarily think "spectacular cider" and "Capitol Reef," but Etta is 100% worth a stop if you're even remotely nearby. We're about to drink our last bottle of their "rose," and it is such a bummer that they're too small to sell outside of Torrey for now!! For what it's worth, while all three ciders are great, the rose is probably the most distinct relative to other great ciders you've had (and it's not overly sweet). The cidery is also very cute, and they've got some snacks you can pick up to go with your cider! Do not skip : ) read more

Very high quality cider. Most of what my wife and I tasted was reminiscent of a cross between good wine and good cider. I highly, highly recommend going just to taste the "apple tannin" centric varieties they make. I've had nothing like it before. My best analogy would be it was like a deeply flavorful dry red wine that is simultaneously refreshing and easy to drink but definitely cider. There were a few different varieties of apples - my wife liked the pippin cider in particular (My brain did not retain any other variety names) and we both thought the fig mead was the best we've tasted of any mead. Non product focused details (TMI) This place seems to be run by a husband and wife team who were very welcoming. My wife and I went into the back room for cider tasting. There's a an expansive canyon / cliff view right out the back door. The brewer / cider maker poured the tastings and was a wealth of knowledge. For example, I'm usually lost when beer and wine labels try to tell me what I should taste (I'm not very sophisticated), but every description I heard was surprisingly spot on. I know a little brewing science and chemistry from my background work/edu and I started asking questions. That turned into an impromptu tour of the fermentation area - I was really impressed with the creative / clever approaches being used. It's really refreshing to listen to someone who would talk for hours about what they do down to the tiniest technical details and measurement science angst on their mind. Honestly I think the talent behind the process is reflected in the clean flavors I tasted. I've had cider from other places that marketed their products in the trappings of 'fine wine' that were basically garbage compared to what I had today. read more

The cider quality and range was amazing. They provide tasting appointments at there facility but due to our group size of 50+ they were happy to provide the tasting at our RV park. Etta Place Cidery was a great place to stop and drink some excellent cider! I did the taste testing and had a chance to also talk to the owner, who was super nice, personable and fun to chat with. The cider itself was very good, with plenty of different types to of cider to meet any kind of palate. In addition to delicious cider, they also have high end cheeses and salamis, as well as other items (olives, salsas, etc) to choose from. We wish her luck with her future patio so guests can enjoy the beautiful views behind the cidery! Hopefully we can make it back here in the future to visit Etta Place again! read more

This is a fairly new cidery near Capitol Reef National Park. I stopped by and did a tasting, which included three different ciders, all of which were delicious. The owner described the process of making cider and gave us a tour of the cidery. They also have local craft sodas and ice cream bars, which my wife really liked. The cider was so good that I stopped by the next day and bought a bottle to take with me and enjoy at the next stop on my hiking trip. read more
