A reliable go to in the valley!! I have been here numerous times for work events, celebrations, and with friends from out of state. I have also gotten their items delivered too. Each & every time I have loved the food SO MUCH. My absolute favorite meal is the Seafood Au Gratin! You get so much food for a great price & I always have left overs to take home after. The flavor is amazing & I have ordered it 90% of the time I have been there! I also have enjoyed their pizza, deep fried raviolis, seafood stuffed mushrooms, and prime rib sandwich, all of which I would recommend! Decor is fancy vintage Italian. You expect to see Johnny Fontain singing and Michael Corleone having dinner. Everything is clean and tastefully done but it has that vintage Italian feel like an upscale restaurant in Palermo. Since we are visiting Alaska and love seafood, it had to be Halibut. We got the grilled halibut with vegetables and halibut stuffed with seafood. Either of these dishes in Seattle would have cost at lest 1/3 more expensive and had half the fish. The salad was very nice and dressing served on the side in a small gravy boat. The Kalua chocolate cake was memorable and we shared it. Service was excellent. Wine was reasonably priced in the $7-10 a glass range. Broccoli was perfectly cooked but the carrots were a bit underdone (crunchy). the Mayor of Wasilla was dining at the next table. Service: We called in to place a to go order and while ordering I asked the soup of the day and was told "there's a soup of the day but I don't know what it is, it's something but there's that" host didn't even care to run back and check. I asked him if they had a salmon or shrimp dinner plate like the chicken dinner entree and he said "idk, no clue". Someone give the hostess a menu and some tips on taking an order please. Food: 1/10. The food was cold, presentation was terrible. My side salad looked like it's been sitting in the fridge all week. Wilted lettuce, bad cucumbers and the dressing was old. Threw it away. My side "fresh veggies" were mushy and over cooked. Disgusting. We also got the steak and shrimp dinner and it was okay. Spend about $70 plus. Waste of money. read more

Food are good and our servers are friendly but the RECEPTIONIST when we arrived and when we left which are 2 different person are not friendly and welcoming. They look grumpy. We left after 7pm so hopefully they will be aware who are scheduled employee during those time to be reviewed. I had a long day at work on Sunday and needed to wind down. Evangelo's sure did it. The atmosphere is calming and soothing. The food is good quality. With a glass of wine and a perfectly cooked halibut with a side of veggies and pasta, I felt like I was in a getaway. The music hits the spot with a little of jazz, classical, and soft opera (Andrea Bocelli, etc.) I think I'm in love. The customer service is great and are even helpful with helping you make food decisions for you to have a better stay at the restaurant. I had trouble choosing some dessert wine with my dessert and the waitress was very knowledgeable and help me choose a wine to try. I want to love Evangelos but was really disappointed in my Prime Rib salad today. Let's start with the size. Smaller than when I previously ordered. Lettuce was cut in strips so it was hard to eat. Stopped in for lunch and enjoyed stuffed mushrooms, San Francisco grilled sandwich, BLT, and fries. The mushrooms were a little dry and just ok. The sandwiches were both great and the fries were hot and crispy. The server was really great too. The atmosphere was nice as well. read more

My waitress was completely inattentive and abandon me practically the entire time I was there. The food somewhat made up for the bad service, but at a fine dining restaurant, good service is an absolute must...and when you don't get it, it's doubly as bad. Also, a tip for the Russian waitress: In the U.S. when you order soup or salad it shouldn't be served the same time as the meal, it should be served before you receive your meal, duh. read more

My calzone was wonderful, and our appetizers of salad and breadsticks came to the table with proficient speed. Would definitely recommend. The service is wonderful. I don't know what to make of this place. To start, the decor is an odd mix of random trinkets, hanging beads, neon lights, artificial daisies that look like they come from a dollar store, and outdated chandeliers. It's as if there's an attempt to be upscale but awkwardly misses the mark. It feels like a step back into the 80s. I can overlook the confusing decor, but the food was disappointing. I ordered grilled chicken, pasta with alfredo sauce, and vegetables. The chicken looked and tasted like it came directly from a freezer with no effort. Everything was bland with a lack of seasonings. I added salt and parmesan from the table to everything to at least give it a little flavor. My husband ordered a medium pizza with Canadian bacon and pineapple. Pro: it was much larger than expected so we had plenty leftover to take away. Con: it wasn't great. It was loaded with poor quality cheese and mediocre crust. Was in Palmer visiting friends and they had been waiting to try Evangelo's.. hostess was polite and seated us promptly. Nicole, our waitress was very helpful in guiding us thru the vast menu...we each picked a different Item and wow we were not disappointed.. the food was delicious and cooked perfectly.. many pastas are dry or not thoroughly cooked but each plate was cooked just right. This used to be a pretty good restaurant hit or miss but pretty good. The prices have gotten crazy. The attitude of the staff has gone downhill. Don't even bother trying to call because they won't answer their phone or your put on weight hold for extended periods of time with the answer always well we are short of workers. No one wants to come to work these days. !!! Most the time they will not take reservations, and they are very much discouraged you to even bother coming in telling you how long their weight lines are the foods gone downhill in the prices have gone up Workers need to be taught how to be cordial they just care about their tip read more

I went to the restaurant myself and picked the item up, then went straight to my hotel which is around 1 mile away from the restaurant. When I arrived the hotel, I've discovered that there was no shrimp cocktail in the bag, and I immediately reached out to the restaurant, the lady admitted that there was a mistake, and she offered to deliver to my hotel, she promised me 30-45 mins. After 1hr, I called them again, she said the delivery guy just went out. After another 30 mins, another lady picked up the phone. And she apologized and told me that she would refund the whole order. I'm visiting from Ketchikan for the next couple of months for work. I've been sampling some of the food Wasilla & Palmer have to offer. Tonight I decided to dine at Evangelo's and I must say it was pretty good. The menu had a variety of items and I've heard great things about their pizza but...I decided to order the Fettuccine Alfredo. I had the option of adding scallops and shrimp for an additional charge...which I did. I also decided on a side salad which was also an additional charge. Total bill without tip $26.21. Gave a 6 buck tip to make the grand total $32.31. I'm a little disappointed the salad was not included in the meal. I've only lived in Alaska for 5 years but quickly learned if you want salad...you have to pay an additional charge and sometimes the salad is just leafy greens with a few carrot slivers. I'm guessing that is how this state separates it from itself from the lower 48 by not offering salad included with meals. While I was eating a person appeared at the next table with an apron on (either a chef or owner) He spoke kindly with them and I'm assuming they were regulars since his tone was extremely personal. He glanced at me but then skipped my table and spoke with another couple. Guess I wasn't appealing enough for him to have conversation with me. I kinda find that rude...but hey...I'm just me. Bottom line...food is decent, service is good, food came rather quickly being a Friday night and the place was packed. However; if you dine here, see someone come out to the table next to you and they are wearing an apron...please grab his attention and tell him Steve was here. Visited Evangelo's back in January. I hesitated to write a review then decided to do this. The order was for canneloni and surf and turf. The canneloni had sausage for the meat but it had a lot of gristle in it the size of pencil erasers. The steak was not good - tough with gristle. The shrimp was good. My salad looked like it had been in the refrigerator all day - soft, limp lettuce. I do like salad so I asked them for a better one. Unfortunately, the one they brought back was the very same - soft, limp lettuce. I decided not to bother to ask for a better one a second time. It showed me that it was not freshly made for the dinner hour and we were there a bit early for dinner. Needless to say, I won't be there for a dinner again like this. It was expensive and not good. Ive been here 5 times in the last two weeks because its walking distance from hotel. Sat at the bar each time. Friendly people each time including bar staff, Mel.
