Wait is like 2 hours after ordering no joke and food tastes of ass would not recommend

I would give Evangelo's a 3.5 stars if that was possible. They are better than average but have room for growth. It's hard to rate when you've had really good Italian food. Nonetheless, they do a pretty good job. The appetizers are pretty great. The steak salad is a great salad! I've had multiple things there including pizza and that's pretty good too. This visit I tried the Neptune Florentine which is one of their pasta dishes. It was slightly bland and needed salt and Parmesan cheese. It also could have used a ton of garlic but that's my preference. The garlic bread they serve with most meals is not good...it's weird actually. I have to mention the Reece's Pieces Martini I had for dessert...it was outstanding. The service was lovely and attentive. Evangelo's needs a face lift. It's like walking into a fancy restaurant from 1984. Back then it was fancy...now it just looks out dated and busy with ornate decorations. read more

The only reason I'm giving this 3 stars is because of the salad and the appetizers we had, deep fried ravioli and calamari. I ordered the chicken evangelo and my husband ordered the grilled chicken, the sauce that came with the evangelo dish tasted like it came out of a jar, it was also bland. My husbands grilled chicken was like rubber. We also had cheese pizza and there was WAY too much cheese, even our kids had to take cheese off. I told the manager about the pizza and she just said "we make our pizzas with heavy cheese" not willing to work with me other than make a new one but we had to head back home. Our server did give us a discount on our check which was nice but the quality of the food isn't there with the main dishes that we ordered. read more

The very worst experience ever! Kept waiting for our appetizer and when I asked about it the waiter had not written it down. Asked for ranch for the dipping sauce and it tasted more like mayonnaise than ranch. Then had to ask for my Husband's salad that came with his meal. Asked them to bring me the menu when our meal had finally been delivered. Then had to ask for the garlic bread that came with the other 2 pasta meals we had ordered. The garlic bread was so thin and tough saltine crackers would have been much tastier. The alfredo sauce had no flavor to it and was rather milky. The lasagna needed more sauce as it was rather dry. Had ordered a mango margarita which had no mango flavor to it. But on a lighter note the water was good. I never complain about food we get when we go out to dinner and do not mind paying their prices but there was too many things wrong with this mealthat I had to speak up. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I came early for lunch. Very nice atmosphere. I ordered a seafood bruschetta that was very good. Also I got the seafood stuffed mushrooms. It was maybe the best I've ever had. I could taste the different types of seafood. The spices were minimal. They had a lovely light lemon/dill sauce. All together I had the impression that they were allowing the food to shine - not the chef. They let the food speak for itself. The creme brûlée was just as delicious - simple and understated. Quite possibly the worst Italian food I've ever eaten. Everything we received was tasteless and/or obviously IQF or instant. They charge $35 for a ribeye Got the temp wrong because it had been frozen, and served it with instant potatoes, and Costco broccoli. Lasagna was absolutely tasteless. No seasoning at all. The "Italian sausages" they smothered in cheese with it were in fact brat links. I am a European trained/schooled chef, and these entrees would have cost $10 at a truck stop. Service was good. This is the first time I've ever written a "Yelp" review, but I'm that bothered and want to make sure people know. I purchased a Shrimp Louie and it consisted of mixed lettuce lettuce (looks like it's from a bag), four tomato wedges, some shrimp, a lemon wedge, and a crap ton of black olives!! The menu does not state what the Shrimp Louie is made of, but I've NEVER had a Louie of any type have black olives on it. plus, I searched a ton of recipes and not one of them had back olives as an ingredient. I was severely disappointed in the salad and called them. They pretty much said "whatever" so I wanted to make sure everyone knows about their crappy customer service. Since it is one of the highest priced places to dine, it SUCKS!! This salad was over $18.00 freaking dollars. They make a ton of money, and aren't willing to comp another salad for serving CRAP salad that doesnt even partially resemble the advertised name "Shrimp Louie." NEVER spending money there again, in fact, I won't even let someone else spend money on me at this restaurant EVER again. I've always supported local business', no longer will support this one! The Neptune seafood dish and Egg plant Parmesan were excellent. The Halibut dish was dry and needed a sauce. Our waiter was kind and gave us a discount for the two halibut dishes. The food is just OK. It is not great. Not worth what they charge for it. My son had the New York Strip w/Blue cheese. He said it was ok but he did have to spit out some gristle. I visited this restaurant on the way back to Anchorage from a stay in Denali. We are from San Francisco and eat at pretty good Italian places in California on a regular basis. This place was fantastic and a real gem. The food is good and they even have some interesting local variations like a lobster poor-boy sandwich. Staff was great and even offered us coffee to go for free after we ordered in-house coffee. Can't recommend it enough. Never expected since a great place in Wassilla of all places. read more

I'm a critic on a mission: To immerse myself into the full dining experience among the many fine restaurants, bistros, cafes, eateries, diners, holes in the wall, and just plain truck stops in this great country, and to review each from within its own context. Establishments get up to 5 stars, one each for: 1st Impression, Menu Selection, Food Quality, Value, and Service. Bon Apetit' Evangelos Restaurant - Wasilla Alaska 1st Impression: The proprietors have gone the extra mile to both architecturally and with interior design appoint the restaurant to emulate the finer European style restaurants of Chicago and NYC. The foyer leads into a classically furnished dining room replete with romanesque accoutrement. You are seated quickly or, if there is to be a wait, ushered to the lounge where a full bar service awaits. Riccardo Trattoria of Lincoln Park it's not, but it is the best first impression you will experience in Wasilla Alaska Definite star for their intro. Menu Selection: I like to call it 'diversity of the offerings,' mostly because it sounds more cool than 'big menu,' and Evangelos has it. You can order any of myriad pizzas, or from among a full range of Italian favorites, seafood medleys, and beef or poultry options. They also serve a fine selection of salads, and of course their generously portioned desserts that lack even the slightest assertion of disappointment. Menu Selection rates another star! Food Quality: The mark of a fine dining experience, as opposed to that of a drive through incident where you find that your fries aren't in the bag 10 miles later, is consistency. Eateries that serve a flawless steak tartar, but then bring you microwaved bread pudding are not providing quality consistency. At Evangelos, from one end of your meal to the other, the quality is of the same high standard throughout. Hot food is hot, chilled beverages are cold, and the romaine is crisp. And then there is my personal quirk. I don't like cheap coffee. For whatever reason, the coffee in this place is wonderful. Many an establishment has blown it by trying to save money proffering coffee best served in the Minute Lube waiting room, but Evangelos has avoided this deal breaker, and it underscores their attention to detail. Food Quality brings star #3. Value: OK, remember when I mentioned that Riccardo Trattoria and Evangelos were not riding the same EL? Well, Evangelos - as good as the food is - does tend to impersonate Riccardo's a bit when it comes to the check. I would not say that the expense here is excessive, or even 'overpriced,' but I would concede that prices are a little on the high side. To be fair about it Wasilla/Palmer lacks much competition at this level, tending more toward hosting multiple fast food and cafe style contendors for your recreational food dollars. As such Evangelos has likely become afflicted with a bit of 'we're the only game in town' syndrome; however they would become quite vulnerable should something like the Olive Garden open up next door. I have to give them 1/2 star for value. Service: Once seated, you will be acknowledged by your server soon enough, however that initial wait time could be shorter. After a number of visits, I have observed that during peak periods servers tend to be underrepresented in the dining room. While they are very courteous and quite professional, they sometimes appear overwhelmed and apologies for delays are a smidge too common during the dinner rush. Then there is what I call 'uberservice.' This is where the beverage steward crosses the line between unobtrusively keeping my water glass serviced and becoming an obnoxious 'pest with a quest' intent on topping off my glass every time I take a sip. It's the difference between gratuity and gratuitous violence involving an airborne glass. An establishment of such repute and ambience should be cognizent of the necessity for subtlety on the part of its staff, and Evangelos has not quite experienced that epiphany yet. 1/2 star for service. Overall Evangelos is a fantastic restaurant, and stands as the lone truly cultured establishment in this area. With some thoughtful fine tuning, perfection waits with open arms. They get 4 stars read more

Well I got the margherita pizza. Sauce was good on the pizza but other then that, would have been better off getting a pizza from the frozen section at a grocery store. There was 8 slices on the pizza and only 4 had any mozzarella on them. Honestly waste of $24. Service was quick and the staff was friendly but they really should evaluate their pizza game. I give Evangelo's a 5 star rating because they have the best pizza in the Matanuska-Susitna valley of Alaska! They have perfected the authentic New York City pizza pie! The restaurant was packed when I arrived, but I managed to get a seat at the bar within 5min. I had a Caesar salad, ribeye steak, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, and New York style cheesecake with strawberries and whipped cream. Everything was delicious, at the right temperature, at the right time, the right serving size, and a fair price. We'll see if that experience is consistent over a few more visits, but definitely worth going back. read more
