Came here to celebrate my anniversary dinner over the past weekend. Evelyn had a very fun and flirty ambiance, the vibe is definitely giving old Hollywood. We were sat in the purple room which is lounge style seating. It may not be likable to everyone, but I actually enjoyed the privacy and quiet compared to the rest of the restaurant. It felt very romantic and gave us the space to talk and connect. Our server, Roshni, was super sweet! She gave us a tour of the restaurant and was very informative. We were disappointed to hear that they didn't have a current wine list available for us to look at, but the sommelier was super helpful in finding us something we'd like. As far as food: We had the yellowtail sashimi and oysters to start off, they were great. For dinner we ordered the 16oz prime ribeye and 14oz texas wagyu strip. We also ordered the jumbo sea scallops, roasted broccolini, and the star of the show- the ribeye chicharron mac and cheese. The steak was good, not better or worse than a lot of the steakhouses in Dallas. There was not one aspect of our evening that wasn't remarkable! Sat in the ambient-rich Lounge which featured an occasional fun, dancing duo and great people watching. This is my second time back to EVELYN and the Spinalis, once again, was amazing! My new favorite cut of meat. Scallops were also perfect and our second favorite. The service was impeccable, drinks poured expressly for us and Executive Chef Henry even checked in on us to ensure our food was perfect and our drinks were ideal. An Exceptional Dining Experience at Evelyn's Last Sunday evening, we had an exceptional dining experience at Evelyn's. The atmosphere was delightful, enhanced by a selection of nostalgic yet fresh tunes that complemented our conversations without overwhelming them. I truly don't know how they achieve this ambiance. Cocktails and Service We began at the bar, indulging in cocktails that certainly did not skimp on alcohol. We tried the Mexican Martini, Hollywood Old Fashioned, and a couple of mocktails. The craftsmanship behind their cocktails is impressive. After our drinks, we were escorted to our table, where our waiter, Hunter, provided excellent service. He spoke clearly and always wore a smile, discussing the specials and engaging in light-hearted conversation, which made for a pleasant experience. Appetizers and Salads For a starter, we shared the Crab Cake, which was hands down the best we've ever had. The fresh taste of the crab was enhanced rather than overshadowed by the accompanying ingredients. Coming from a family that has spent plenty of time crabbing on the Oregon Coast, I know good crab flavor! Next, we shared a Caesar salad that ranks among the best we've enjoyed. Soups and Entrees Our meal continued with Seafood Bisque, featuring fresh lobster and crab. As someone very particular about lobster (my favorite shellfish), I was thrilled. The slight spiciness was perfectly balanced. Our entrees were nothing short of amazing: large scallops served with asparagus and rack of lamb. Both dishes were flavorful, and we also savored the lobster mac and cheese, which could easily be labeled the best I've ever tasted due to its freshness. A side of sautéed wild mushrooms complemented our main dishes beautifully. Desserts and Conclusion To round off our meal, we enjoyed a Crème Brûlée cheesecake. Although I'm not typically a fan of cheesecake, this one was exceptional. The real highlight for me was the Soma Fudge dessert, which was our favorite. Throughout the evening, Gena, the manager, visited our table several times to welcome us and check on our experience. Very conflicted with this review. Went here for my birthday and booked the champagne room only to find out when we got there that the room wasn't opened on mondays. For the amount of times they texted us prior to the reservation, you would think they would let us know we wouldn't get the room we reserved. HOWEVER, our waitress Eris ( sorry if i misspelled ) was PHENOMENAL! every one of her recommendations was 10/10 and she truly saved the experience.... but then came the steak.... i ordered a medium and it was OVER they took it back and the manager came out to apologize and brought us some truffle friends while we waited - then the GM comes with our new steak and it's UNDER... for this to be a steakhouse i found this to be incredibly disappointing but themanager then coming back to apologize and comping the steak tells us they really care about their brand the customer experience and for that i will still come back and would recommend to others - read more

the ambience is like something out of the Clockwork Orange Milk Bar. it feels a little like 80s cool like a Greenwich Village nightclub and then the food starts to arrive. The staff is great and all smiles. They have cute uniforms with stylish boots. We had the blue cheese wedge, it was great. Then we had the Wagyu cheesesteak bites , wow, creative and incredible. Next we had the scalloped creamy potatoes that came in a staggered pyramid shape and stacked almost like Pringles and just incredible. Then came the Wagyu NY Strip, medium. I'm a filet mignon guy, medium plus, but this was one of the best steaks i have ever had , including Peter Luger in NY. Maybe the best I've ever had. The creamed spinach was excellent as well. We know Chef Henry's (Red) skills from Bistro 31 in Highland Park Village. We hated to see him go from there but this is worth the visit and we will be back! read more

Another new restaurant in Dallas where the main focus is aesthetics and vibes and skip out on the taste of the food! It's sad to see and very disappointing esp when you see the prices on the menu. I expect to eat great tasting food while enjoying my time out. If you're looking for a great place to take pictures and post on ig, this is the place for you. The drinks were good. I ordered the sea bass and explicitly ask the waiter if the sea bass fresh and not frozen. She told me it was fresh, wrong! The seas was tasted frozen and wasn't flakey at all. I sent it back and got the salmon, that was okay. The whipped potatoes were also a let down. Tasted like instant potatoes, no seasoning, no butter, no heavy cream, no nothing. The fries were cold and looked like it was the bottom of the barrel, and salty, I personally don't understand cold fries. My other friends had the lobster bisque and the rigatoni which they enjoyed. The manager did take care of us and comp the meals I had. He also threw in a dessert for us which we appreciate. I hope the food gets better. read more

Beautiful restaurant - take a quick tour of each of the rooms, they're definitely all beautifully decorated. Our food was tasty (we ordered steak frites, boneless filet and sea bass along with sides and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal), the service was friendly and helpful and the wine list and cocktail menu more than adequate. Spacing of the food was a little spotty - one appetizer came out quickly while the oysters took a long time. The music was a bit loud for table conversation but you can raise your voice over it. We were there for a birthday and had a wonderful evening overall. There was even an attendant in the ladies' room offering prosecco which was a little odd but not necessarily in a bad way? The only thing I'd say is the person of our party who made our reservation received multiple texts about the "dress code" and how it was extremely important that we adhere to it in order to maintain the upscale atmosphere. It's completely fine for a restaurant to have a dress code or not have one but EVELYN most definitely does not enforce it. I don't care what someone else wears, but don't make it such a huge thing and then ignore it completely. Getting in the parking lot and inside the restaurant was a little awkward too. The valet is in front of a set of doors that you assume you go in but apparently not! The friendly valet staff point you in the right direction. Ride share drop off and pickup are a little weird too trying to figure out how to get in and out. read more

I had the truffle fries as an appetizer due to the large portion, 9/10 and the creamed spinach as a side 8/10 (amazing flavor however it could use more spinach) and the salmon orzo was cooked perfectly and had a great flavor. The drinks were great the espresso martini tasted like straight espresso and I loved that. The food is a bit overpriced for what it is however it was still delicious besides the mashed potatoes I tried, it had no flavor. But to the main point, I was here for a birthday and service is awful. We came on a Saturday night at 10:30 and everything came out slow and not only that but our server made us feel as if we were a bother and for a birthday celebration and how much we were spending and how friendly we tried to be to him, we expected a nicer time. read more

We were told on 2 occasions that it would only be 10-15 minutes longer, but after asking the host a 3rd time how much longer she mentioned she wasn't sure how long it would take for us to be seated. That "they were waiting for people to get up from their tables." I understand the restaurant is popular and at times we will have to wait but close to an hour on a scheduled reservation is excessive. UPDATE: I was contacted by Jennifer and assured that someone would be reaching out to me soon. I spoke with Nic on the phone and let me just say, WOW, the absolute epitome of GREAT customer service. I told him about our experience and he assured me that this is not how they do business. I appreciate the response, the effort, and the concern. We are more than happy to go back sometime and give them another chance. I'll start by saying that the building is beautiful and the vibes were good. Those are my only positives. We went out for my sister's birthday- a couples evening. I wasn't feeling too great and opted to not drink on this night. My husband, BIL, and sister ordered a cocktail at the bar and I asked for a water. They all got their drinks, but I did not get one. I assumed he forgot- that was fine, I didn't have to have it at that moment. About 20 minutes later I asked the same bartender for a glass of water. He gave a less than enthusiastic nod and walked right over to the bar and started making someone else a cocktail. Ok, now I am catching on. Annoyed, but continued to socialize. Another 20 or so minutes passes and another bartender is nearby so I ask HIM for a glass of water- SAME REACTION AND STILL NO WATER. At this point my husband is not super happy but very politely asks the first bartender if I can get some water. He fills a cup with ice and slams it down to the point where two ice cubs fall out of the glass. In an effort to avoid having to snatch this little man up myself, we quickly left and will most certainly never return. How is it possible that so kindly asking for water, not one but three times, is such an inconvenience??? If there were self serving water stations I could understand, but there were not. Went here for Mother's Day because I had seen this place repeatedly on Tik Tok. My family and I had a great experience! Ambiance was very low lit with a disco vibe but variation of music. We ate early but a DJ was playing by the time we left. Super chill vibe! Our server was very friendly and made great recommendations since it was our first visit. We had the crab cake and tuna crudo as appetizers, bangin on the wall & margaritas for drinks, our sons both ordered the prime ribeye, and hubs and I got the tomahawk. We also ordered ribeye mac n cheese, creamed spinach, truffle fries, and verts (green beans) as sides. All of it was absolutely delicious! Steaks were cooked perfectly. My friend's $100 steak was dry. 7 layer cake is a very specific item. They called it 7 layer but it was 4 layers and then the filling. 7 layer cake has 7 layers of cake. Just very strange. DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLEGIES! CHECK YOUR BILL BEFORE PAYING! THEY ADD ITEMS TO BILLS! STEALING FROM CUSTOMERS! THE TOMAHACK BONE IS PART OF THE 32oz! THE BONE IS HALF THE WEIGHT! I visited Evelyn for my husband's birthday. I informed the server clearly that I have celiac disease and absolutely cannot eat gluten. He assured me that all the appetizers we ordered -- including the yellowtail and ahi tuna -- were gluten-free. I later found out that they're not, and I became violently ill. I spent the entire night in the bathroom, had to miss work the next day, and now have a doctor's appointment. I'm also contacting a lawyer to explore compensation. This wasn't a minor mistake -- it was a serious health risk and shows a complete lack of allergy training among staff. To be clear, the bread and mac & cheese were for my partner, who can eat gluten -- not for me. Even before I knew about the gluten issue, the food was already a letdown. The yellowtail, ahi tuna, and cauliflower were covered in coarse volcano salt, so much that every bite had a crunch. I asked for both the yellowtail and ahi tuna to be remade without the salt, and while they did remake them, it took about 30 minutes -- which is odd for raw dishes -- and they still weren't impressive. We also noticed the bread arrived after the appetizers. When we asked, the server said they usually serve it that way, which felt backward and disrupted the pacing of the meal. I ordered a Sprite with no ice, and it came with ice. When I sent it back, the server told me they were out of Sprite and offered soda water with lime to mimic it. That's surprising for a restaurant that's only been open for two months. For mains, I ordered the $189 Wagyu tomahawk, and my husband got the filet mignon. Both came out medium-well instead of medium, and were lukewarm at best. Within five minutes, they were cold. The fries were stale, and the broccoli and mac & cheese (again, for my partner) were bland and underseasoned. The plating was overly dramatic, with the tomahawk served on a massive dish that made it hard to fit everything on our small bar table. Then came the billing issue. Our check was initially $510, which I paid. But the receipt to sign said $680. We were charged for items we never ordered -- a $150 cocktail, mashed potatoes, and two desserts. The server blamed a mix-up with another table. He brought a revised check totaling $486 and said the pending charge would correct itself. Still, the whole situation felt shady. Even after all of that, I still tipped the server $100. Maybe he was new, and I believe in showing kindness -- but the overall experience was unacceptable. Yes, the decor and ambiance are beautiful -- a solid 10/10 -- but the food is mediocre, the service is inconsistent, and the staff isn't trained to safely accommodate allergies. I'd rate the food a 6/10 and the appetizers a 5/10. If you have food allergies, celiac disease, or just expect a meal to match the price tag, do not eat here. Our waiter Christian was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu that it made it easy to order considering it was our first time. Would recommend going to Evelyn and if you so happen to sit in Christian's section, you will be well taken care of. We ordered the Parker house rolls, wagyu cheese steak appetizer, steak frites and vodka rigatoni, and all were so so yummy. Our drinks we also indulged in were amazing.
