Opens late and decently priced food! For a hot pot at $10, this is pretty good! Comes with plenty of veggies and noodles. They top off the pot with raw meat but once it gets cooked, there isn't too much meat but overall, it is filling! There's only one spicy pot and I ordered that one. Open late and... Milk lids! My wife and I have loved this place since back in the day when it was Rock Star Noodle Bar. The people who said all Rock Star used to have was "questionable ramen" are mistaken. They already had many of the same dishes as Rock Star that Even Life has today. Don't be confused by the double signage that still says Rock Star on the building and Even Life in neon in the windows. The two are one and the same, with much of the same menu plus some new stuff (milk lid!), minus some of their less popular dishes from before (mostly Japanese-style stuff that had no business being on the menu in the first place imho). Our favorite is all the beef noodle soups [beef soup, beef tendon soup, beef & beef tendon soup, or beef, tripe, & beef tendon soup (spam spam spam spam, lol)] with handmade noodles (I think the handmade noodles for $1 extra is new). These handmade noodles are the wide thick kind and not the hand-pulled kind. Not as chewy as at Northern Cafe but still chewy (and this place has soap in the bathroom!). I don't like very salty food and find this series of soups not overly salty but not bland either (it does get saltier at the end though, so you might want to leave the dregs). Ordering the soup not spicy, it will still have a tiny bit of spice in the flavor, especially in the broth. Be careful ordering it spicy if you're not sure what your heat threshold is. 4 stars overall, a little more for the beef parts, a little less for the noodles. Our favorite addition to the new menu the enoki mushroom beef rolls (4 stars), which are like the similar dish at yakitori restaurants, and all the milk lid drinks (5 stars and the main reason for coming here). This is not the only place that has this type of thing, which is called cream top or misleadingly called cheese tea (it's definitely not what an American would consider cheese) elsewhere, but I like their execution here best. It's not too sweet, not too icy, creamy and a little salty, which contrasts and pairs nicely with the tea, matcha, or cocoa. The strawberry chocolate milk lid is not for me because fruit = yuck (lol) but if you like strawberry milkshakes and chocolate milkshakes and can never decide which one to order, this is for you! I wasn't a fan of their potstickers (2 stars, but I have a northeasterner's taste in potstickers) before or after the name change. Basically if you try anything on the menu besides beef noodle soup, enoki beef rolls, or milk lid, I can't vouch for their taste or quality. Update: I've now also tried: Their green onion pancake, which is less crispy and more doughy (which I actually prefer but ymmv) and is a more manageable size portion than at other places where I usually end up taking 2-3 days to finish at home, more of a single serving appetizer than a share-with-the-whole-table size. I'd get this again. 4. Spicy cold chicken, which is more garlicky and gingery than spicy. In fact it tastes a lot like if you took the chicken from hainan chicken rice, chopped it up, and mixed it with the sauces directly. This was a small appetizer portion as well. It wasn't bad but I'd rather save my hainan chicken rice cravings for Cluck2Go. Won't get again, even though I liked it. 3.5. Service and cleanliness is about average for an authentic Chinese hole-in-the-wall one-off joint, maybe a little cleaner than before (as long as you don't needthe restroom, haha). Also, the waitstaff we've had here speak pretty good English which makes things easier. read more

I've been to this place a few times and thought that they did a decent job in the kitchen, but unfortunately there's cleanliness issues. Tables weren't wiped clean when I sat down and I had to ask, no big deal. But then noticed that the rag the guy was using to wipe the tables made my table stink like mildew, not chemicals. Can't believe this place has more than 1 star overall. My friends and I went to get lunch and the guy didn't let us in for 15 minutes even though it was their business hours. We were finally in and nobody took our order for like 20 min and when they were finally ready they didn't bother coming to our table and the man just told us to yell out our order. Lazy and then took almost 40 minutes to start getting our food even though we were the only customers and they even got an order wrong. They didn't even serve us water or my drink. When we asked for water they ignored us 3 times and they finally gave us an answer saying "wait" just to tell us to come up to the counter and take the cups and water ourselves. Towards the end of our meal, I still hadn't gotten my drink and apparently they just left it on the counter and didn't even bother telling us, let alone serve it. Whats the point of me paying for a drink I wanted with my meal if I didn't even get it until my food was basically done?? We had to essentially serve ourselves and when we wanted to pay, we once again were told to walk up to the counter ourselves again. We decided that since our food was slow, got our order wrong, and served ourselves throughout the whole meal we won't give any gratuity. When the owner saw it he yelled at my friend why he didn't tip and my friend said because we didn't get any service and it's not mandatory in the first place. They don't have any spice here or it's very mild...for me that is a downfall. The tempura fish cake was good, but tasted a bit different from other taiwanese places. Their food is decently priced but their milk lid teas are overpriced. Almost $6 for one tea with a bit of cream? The roselle milk lid was what my friend ordered and it tasted like a yogurt drink. I came here with high expectations after reading some Google reviews, and I was not disappointed. The food: I ordered the honey green tea right off the bat, and it was not too sweet and tasted like a real brew. I went with an order of Chinese veggies and their signature beef noodles, signature noodle type, and medium spice (which was not spicy enough for my taste, so if youre into spice, get the highest level of spice!). The food arrived quickly, and the waitress was polite and attentive. The meat was perfectly cooked: not too soft and not too hard. The noodles were "Q" and were not soggy even as I finished up my serving. The broth was not oily at all (like other beef noodle broths can be) and sprinkled with green onions. It was also steaming hot, so I could take it easy on my pace. The environment and service: As i mentioned before, the waitress was attentive and patient as we looked through the menu. The location is great for hanging out with friends late at night or even during the day since there is an outdoor patio. There is also free wifi, which I am using right now to write this review. My fiancé wanted beef noodle soup so we came to Rockstar Noodle House. They have pretty decent beef noodle soup, I must admit. I didn't feel like beef noodle so I got the tomato egg noodle soup, a classic taiwanese dish. By all means, I wasn't expecting fancy handmade noodles because it was a $7 item. But I did not expect instant ramen along with the instant ramen packet flavor broth with tomatoes and eggs added. Huge disappointment. In addition, their menus have seen better days. There are A LOT of other places nearby where you can get the cheese foam, sea salt, whip cream like topping however I think this is probably one of the best places to get them. I think there milk lid game is on point, and it really blends with their tea. The tea they use doesn't seem cheap at all, and this is why I believe why their drinks are much pricier than other places. Their most unique topping is probably their chocolate milk lid. It's pretty DANK! I love it, and its almost like sipping on a light chocolate fudge syrup. I also got their desserts! Let me just say after having that ooolong drank I all of a sudden became a fan LOL. It was so refreshing and not too sweet but sweet enough. It has this butter cream on top which is to die for. It's so bawm and leaves a mustache on your face. The noodles were fire as well! I been to other beef noodle places but I have to say this is the best!
