Didn't even get a seat. When we got there were told a 20 min. wait. There were 7 of us. At 25 minutes the same man came out and said if there was a party of 4 they could get a seat. A family that had just walked up were seated. He didn't even make eye contact with our party, when we said something, he waved us off. Will never go back. read more

We were looking forward to trying this place...NOT ANYMORE!! Upon arriving and seeing a line, my husband wasn't to keen on standing since he was recovering from knee surgery. When I went to the door to inquire about wait time, "the owner"rudely and loudly told me the wait time was at the back of the line! I have never been treated so rudely from an establishment! If that's how he treats patrons who spend the money to put food on his table, then we don't care to have him put food on ours. read more

This place is so great. We enjoyed the food as well as the friendly staff and the quaint location. I had the bauern schnitzel and it was amazing. The green beans are to die for and we asked about the cheese spatzle, which had an up charge but we'll worth it. My husband had the Holstein schnitzel and said it was very good. His red cabbage was honestly the best I've ever tasted. He too asked for the cheese spatzle. We got a piece of their blueberry cheesecake to go so haven't tasted it yet, but all the cheesecake looked amazing. We will definitely cone back if/when we are in Lampasas again. read more

This place was definitely a surprise to find while driving to Marble Falls but it was absolutely charming and backdrop against the cute little town center was memorable. The food was okay, it wasn't something I'd drive all the way back for but I also am not so sure I'm a fan of German food period so maybe this review isn't the most accurate ;p My friends loved their schnitzel dishes and they were reasonably priced for a good portion of food. One thing I did like was their beer selection, it was small but they had some great beers on tap. Staff was attentive and kind. If you go make sure to try the desserts! read more

Cute place, a little crowded. I had the Gobbler sandwich. Turkey tasted a little old, like I was eating reheated leftovers. Chips were great, waitress was friendly and speedy. I'll have to go back and try something else. Definitely want to try the dessert next time! read more

Based on the Yelp reviews, I was very excited to take my family to Eve's for lunch upon our arrival into Lampasas. Unfortunately, we were all rather disappointed. For German food, I was expecting savory flavors and bold recipes. Instead, I felt that everything was mediocre at best - average jager schnitzel with runny mushroom gravy, tasteless bratwurst, and over-cooked fries. I am a very picky eater and I don't stray much from my norm...but my husband had heard about a German restaurant out here in Lampasas and so we tried it. I got a Hawaiian hamburger and added mushrooms...it was amazing! My husband got a traditional RÖHNSCHNITZEL "THE WORKS" and absolutely loved it. I had the pleasure of living in Germany and have always been amazed that many restaurants who tout "authentic" German food rarely deliver. Eve's Cafe does and I couldn't be happier! Schnitzel and spatzel have always been a weakness of mine and Eve's is some of the best I've had outside of Germany. I've been tempted to try other items such as sausage, promise myself I'll do just that--but when I walk in the door, schnitzel calls to me and I can't resist its siren song. In America we tend to look on German food as being made with lead; one bite and you're weighed down for the day. That's a false image and I'm glad that Eve's does not follow popular convention. Their food, as in Germany, is filling but not overly so. I seldom eat desserts but I can't resist their Schwartzwalde (Black Forest) cake. Hands down, the best I've had in the U.S. (and I've had a fair share, I can assure you!). Actually, any of their desserts are excellent, so indulge yourself. It's comforting to know that there are still restaurants who make their own desserts and use high quality ingredients. Just ate there this week and as usual it was great. Schnitzel was tender and fried perfectly. And this is my favorite place to eat spatzel. Served with brown gravy. Yum. My husband likes the warm red cabbage. The salad is simple and comes with a house made dressing and it is so good. The service has always been friendly and fast. read more

They only have German beer which is ok if you don't really like hops. The menu is huge with something for everyone. The food is good in general; they are known for their schnitzels and for a small town American restaurant they do a decent job on them. The fries are good--crispy but not too thin. I am slowly coming to terms with Central Texas' lack of delicious German/Czech/Bavarian food. I love the stuff but it is quite sparce. Luckily a drive up 281 will take me to Lampasas and Eve's on the Square. Tucked into the northside of Lampasas' historic square, Eve's always leaves me wondering when I'll get to come back next! I usually get the jagerschnitzel. The pork cutlet is delicous, especially when I mix it together with the brown gravy and spaetzle AND red cabbage! And while we are talking about spaetzle, let me just say, of the German food spots in Central Texas, MOST of them don't even have my friendly fried egg noodles, and that makes me sad! Luckily, Eve's spaetzle is buttery, authentic, and delicious. Let's not forget they also sell half liters of true German beer: Erdinger, Paulaner, Weihenstephaner, etc. And then there are the delicous pastries. I usually come away with a MEGA-STRUDEL. Most importantly, this is a local Lampasas business. Do your self a flavor and get up there! read more

Stopping through our trip to San Antonio for the weekend, we stumbled upon this quaint cafe which we saw that on yelp was highly rated. So we decided to have lunch there and we were slightly surprised by how busy it was in such a small town. The restaurant was at full capacity and even had a line out the door which we thought was a good sign. When we were seated we were given menus that offered homemade yet authentic German food. We ordered "The Works" with a side of potato salad, and the "Jäger Schnitzel" with a side of green beans. We were told that since everything was made fresh/from scratch prior to ordering so this did explain the long wait time for our food. The entrees themselves tasted subpar (almost like cafeteria food). Unfortunately nothing special with the entrees however the sides were slightly better. For dessert, we ordered the mandarin orange cheesecake and we can honestly say that that was the best cheesecake we have ever had. It was so easy to finish the whole thing and we still think about it to this day! Overall the food was adequate...okay at best but definitely go for their cheesecake! read more

Great place. We went for dinner on a Thursday night. We were a bit early, but the place filled up pretty quick after we left. Everyone like their food. Between all of us we had rahm schnitzel, holstein schnitzel, and a schnitzel sandwich. All were hot and tasty. Came with fresh salad with dill dressing. Great desserts too (cheesecake and strudel). Two people in our party ordered beer, which looked great. I also noticed that they offer pitchers of beer. Good, family-friendly choice for dining in Lampasas. read more

I was cold. I was wet. I was tired. When I used yelp, I learned the diner in front of me was awful. Then I learned Eve's across the square was supposed to be good. Eve's had friendly people, good coffee, a mighty fine jagerschnitzel, and those good little German pasta noodle things that I forget the name of. Kugel maybe? I can't remember. And the green beans were cooked down with bacon and mighty tasty. I got cranberry cheesecake to go and enjoyed it immensely the next day. If you find yourself in Lampasas and need food, try Eve's. I'm glad we checked Yelp before driving through Lampasas on our way to Sweet Berry Farm. I had the Curry Wurst with hot curry ketchup, French fries and red cabbage. My husband had Schnitzel topped with fried eggs, spaetzle and red cabbage while our toddler had a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with chips and chocolate milk. We each tried each other's food and it was all delicious. Our son liked the spaetzle so I think I'll order that for him next time we go so he can eat something authentic. I could probably eat the Curry ketchup on everything I normally eat with ketchup. read more

Amazing little German cafe - wish I had known about it for all the trips back and forth from Dallas/San Antonio! My family lived in Germany for several years growing up, and this is very close to spot on German food! Great spaetzle, amazing jäger schnitzel, good service. Slow service. Will review after the meal So, I got the weiner schnitzel. My kids got a hot dog and a grilled cheese, respectively. The schnitzel: in short, outstanding. It was perfectly breaded, and tasted outstanding! I could cut it with a regular knife. It was so yummy! I got it with a side of fries and also a side of noodles because I had never had german noodles before. The fries were perfect examples of fries. Yum. The noodles were really cool. They wren't like slimy noodles, they were kind of like a cross between spaghetti noodles and something friend. They were so yummy! I also had a side of green beans, and they were excellent! The kids meals were wonderful. It is hard to screw up a grilled cheese and a hotdog, but a lot of places try to church up the grilled cheese bread, and my kids will not eat it, then. Two downfall. One, this is a German restaurant, and it did not have Spaten Optimator to drink. I was somewhat disappointed. However, this is not why I am taking away a start. I am taking away a star because of the wait. It was a good twenty minutes waiting for someone to come and take our drink order. About five minutes after one person takes our drink order, someone else comes up and asks if we have been helped yet. Then, it took awhile to get our drinks, and for someone to take our dinner order. After we placed it order, however, it was not long before the delicious food arrived. I am quite certain I will stop back by this place next time I am in Lampasas. I highly recommend it, but beware it there are a few people inside, it might be a wait to get service! read more
