Ok we came here when it WAS a gas station and restaurant. We loved it! We had ordered a Hot Chick sandwich and 2 other curry dishes. We love fusion! Came back the next year 1/2 gas station and 1/2 restaurant outside and full restaurant inside. This year we came, only restaurant outside (not complaining) and minimal inside. Ok STILL NOT upset. They added a local musician, nice touch and it's now "discovered" by the masses and packed!!! Food quality I must say has decreased. The butter chicken had very little protein in the dish and was mostly potatoes. The mumbai squash with 2 peppers had very little favoring overall. I ordered the Christmas Curry, the Brussels sprout were NOT cooked. HARD AS ROCKS!! Totally not cooked. I feel like a place I honestly felt the food and service was amazing has become a victim of COVID and no workers, poor service and decreased quality. We had the BEST breakfast at exit zero. As home owners at the point we continuously passed this place on our way to other restaurants in Cape May. This particular morning we said-- let's try exit zero for breakfast. Part of our bias was that the prices would be very high. This is a really cute shop that sells great looking fresh bread and wonderful sandwiches, as well as a lot of other stuff. We ordered a couple sandwiches to go - they were delicious on a freshly baked roll, and packed really nicely (with a couple of nice freebies on the side). Plus - just really nice people who deserve your business. The night before, my wife and I went to a typical sub shop and split a sub that was made of frozen chicken and broccoli rabe that had been cooking for 3 months. We had a reservation for the air stream and it was so cute and made our dining experience. There was a record player which was pretty entertaining to ply with while we waited for our food. The drinks were wonderful. I got a cucumber drink which was great and my husband got a bourbon drink which he really liked. We got the disco fries which were amazing. We also both got curries. This was in my summer bucket list, finally got there. We had a long wait so we decided to go inside for drinks. The bar is quaint and small. We had Damian, what a gem. It 100% is worth all the hype! They do not take reservations and this place is packed pretty much any night of the week so do expect to wait to be seated. They've moved all seating outdoors for Covid which adds to the overall experience and cool ambiance. As the name entails, it is a gas station and restaurant and they have live music every night so even if their foods was crap (which it certainly is not), the experience alone is worth a visit. Our party of 5 adults was seated within 30 minutes (10 minutes sooner than promised) and the service was crazy fast! We got our food literally within minutes of ordering. Drinks were stellar and all of the food was noteworthy. Mega Tots: 2/5 came highly recommended but was everyone's least favorite. Soggy, greasy, and underwhelming. Balsamic Honey Brussel Sprouts: 5/5 INSANE. So much flavor and just an outstanding app. We all could've just eaten a pile of these for dinner and been satisfied. Bang Bang Chicken and Shrimp: 5/5 creamy, rich, and complex flavor profile. Wish there was a tad bit more shrimp and chicken but overall was spectacular! Blackened Salmon Sandwich: 5/5 salmon was cooked PERFECTLY. So moist fresh and flavorful! Hot Chick: 5/5 the kick from the heat paired with the sweet pickles and brioche perfectly. Great idea, and really unique dining room and bar. Bartender was personable and made us excellent drinks. We were sat for dinner at 6:00, and their menu consists mainly of curries. There are more things, but it's clear that this is their specialty. We ordered their cauliflower bites and Brussels sprouts for an app and they did not disappoint! Their curry, however, was not the same story. They "just ran out" of naan at 6pm, then when the curries came they were just okay flavor wise and they all had undercooked crunchy potatoes. They we're tasty ordered two apps for dinner while the other members ordered meals the food came out with the two apps. The tayter tots which were tasty and the cauliflower which was very good but small portion problem was the other two meals came out 45 minutes later Our waiter blamed the kitchen and disappeared we ate in shifts I was not happy about it. We have come here every year since it opened. This summer in august 2023, we were a bit disappointed. Halibut was way overcooked and the ramen curry seemed congealed. Got the kids orders wrong. And outdoor tables were too dark to see what you were eating unless setting right under old gas station. Service was mediocre at best even when it was slow. Such a fun and creative idea for a restaurant! Food was yummy, but portions were way too large to finish! I got the Pad Thai, and after eating to the point of extreme fullness, my dish looked like I had barely put a dent in it! There was probably enough left to feed two more people. However, it was delicious! I got the Unicorn Shake for dessert, and it was well put together and pretty, but sadly lacked a distinct flavor. It mostly tasted like straight up milk, despite the menu's claim of it being a cake batter flavored shake. Regardless, eating at Exit Zero Filling Station was a fun and yummy experience. I wanted to love this place but my experience wasn't that great. The food took a while to come. I thought it was because my husband ordered a WD burger but I saw other tables complaining. When it finally came, I dug through my $30 Lobster Mac&Cheese and thought I was going crazy because there was NO LOBSTER. I flagged a buser who took the dish back. By the time the waitress came back, my husband was done eating. I figured she would come back with lobster added. She said do you want us to make another or just take it off the check. Gas station, restaurant, and general store all in one. This place is awesome! If you're in town it's a must go to! They have perfectly spaced out tables and adhere to social distancing very well! The service was delightful and the staff is very friendly, courteous and helpful. As for the food - EXCELLENT! The Butter Chicken is phenomenal, I've been to Indian restaurants that can't match this experience. The Thai chicken wings are perfectly cooked and crunchy with the right amount of sauce. Tried for the first time on our last Cape May trip. Local spot that we had been aware of but never tried before. This is a real good outdoor spot, doesn't look like much space inside at all. However, if it's a beautiful day out and you want some real good pub and Indian food with great drinks then this is the spot. Went again to Exit 0 this weekend after two years to give it another try and I am changing my review! I was pleasantly suprised this time. We went on Halloween weekend and it was really fun. The restaurant was decorated all cute for the holiday and they were playing scary movies which was a plus because we got a dinner and a show! For drinks, I got a water and the jalapeño margarita. This was the best spicy margarita I've had in a long time! For entrees, my boyfriend got the bang bang chicken & shrimp curry and it was delicious, but very spicy so watch out for that. I got the butter chicken and it was very delicious, not your typical butter chicken but I thoroughly enjoyed it and would get it again! We also got two orders of naan on the side. The ambiance is very nice and casual but we got here at 6:50 and it's 8:40 and we have yet to have a bite. An hour wait turned into an hour and a half. We ordered the second we sat down and the food still has not come put after almost 30 minutes. With an 8 month pregnant wife and 2.5 year old. What was supposed to be a nice vacation meal transformed into more trouble than it is worth. Frankly even if the food is amazing, I would avoid coming again at this point. read more
