Friendly service, but food and logistics can use some improvements! We went to Exotic Thai last night for an early Mother's Day celebration. Overall, everyone had a good time and a nice meal. Located in a strip mall next to the Regency theater in Agoura Hills, the restaurant is minutes off a 101 exit. Parking is ample in the strip mall parking lot. For the appetizer, we ordered the large Tom Yum Gong soup. The serving size was very generous, and it tasted delicious. For the entrees, we ordered pepper steaks, sweet and sour chicken, chicken with peanut sauce, and seafood platter. Not all the entrees arrived at the same time, and my seafood platter entree arrived about 15-20 minutes later than the rest. Therefore, I started my main course when others were mostly done with their meals. In addition, the sauce in my seafood platter was overpowering the delicate flavors of the seafood. I also did not like the use of imitation crab meat in the mix, which felt somewhat synthetic. As for the service, our waiters were friendly and attentive. Despite some logistics issues with the kitchen, we had a good time. That being said, I was surprised to read my prior review in 2016, noting the long wait time in the kitchen. Came here before a movie last night, and my daughter loved the fried rice so much she insisted we come back for lunch today. I got the jungle curry with shrimp last night and again today, and I loved it both times. The flavors are great. Beware, the jungle curry is on the spicier side! What can I say? The restaurant was utterly filthy. I was seated at a dirty table and stepped on a whole ass chicken satay skewer and chicken chunk. My spring rolls took 20 minutes and my friends rice took 45. Waitress said the peanut sauce had no fish sauce in it and when it arrived it was drenched in it. This place is not safe for vegans or anyone who is a fall risk. The waitress told my friend "you get extra rice for waiting." We don't need thirteen portions of rice if it's gonna take 45 minutes. It gets three stars because the food actually tastes good if you ever get it or don't die trying. A very good branch of this mini-chain of Thai restaurants, and an absolute winner if you're planning to have a movie night out at Regency Agoura Stadium 8. We ordered some wonderful glass noodle soup - wifey asked for "extra fresh ginger" and got it, just right - and I had some delicious duck with sautéed vegetables and some side rice - perfectly fresh, and not too greasy. While Exotic Thai most usually serves worthy dishes, they consistently fall short of "expectations" regarding service and a reliable spectrum for "spice." Sometimes "mild" is HOT and sometimes "mild" shows no signs of spice at all. Worse even more so, Exotic Thai all too often does NOT appear to value their customers' time regarding carry out. Horrible service...my friend's dinner was served 15 minutes after mine. The chicken with cashews was inedible. I had ordered that dish previously at the Newbury Park location and it was quite delicious and made differently. The $6 "steamed vegetables" were lukewarm and left uneaten. The Tom Ka Gai coconut soup was more broth-y and sour like Tom Yum soup than creamy and was just ok. The Kiew Wan green curry (with green beans, squash, bamboo shoots and other veggies and choice of protein) was delicious, creamy and flavorful, but a bit on the spicy side (even though I requested it mild.) The staff has always been friendly, helpful and accommodating each time I've come here. If something is wrong they offer to make it right or in the case of takeout they will refund you. What I loved: I felt the prices were much better and the quality much higher than several area and travel thai restaurants I've been to in the last year. My goodness! The amount of (perfectly) cooked chicken in each dish was astronomical. Thom ka gai soup....usually end up with a bunch of broth at other places. Here? I had 3 servings, hubby 2, daughter one, and we took soup home...with chicken! Wish there were more veggies though, if that's a complaint over the amount of chicken...??? Pad thai scored and even had a couple shrimp we weren't expecting based on menu. Yum! My daughter ordered an amazing salad, forget the name, but she subbed chicken and tofu for all tofu.and it was soooo good the way they cooked it. Awesome peanut dressing. The only thing I wasn't the biggest fan of was the panang curry. Just me. Plus I was stuffed! But wow, the amount of chicken was epic. Definitely coming here for my Thai cravings. We did not have good experience when we went there recently for lunch. My order for Spicy Chicken fried rice had become Spicy Mint Chicken Fried Rice. Summary: 3.5 stars. The food here is great. The beef is higher quality than a lot of other Thai restaurants, and the sauce is delicious! Service is adequate, and the food comes very quick. Quantities are a little small for the price, and steamed rice is extra. Prices are relatively average. Easy parking. This place makes a mean broccoli beef, and I will most likely return to try it again at some point. Though not my favorite Thai restaurant, this place does have a lot to offer. The ambiance and decor are both above average, and the restaurant does have a clean feel to it. Still, I always leave wanting more, and never feel fully satisfied. This restaurant is definitely worth trying at least once. For most eaters, the quantities probably suffice. As for me, I've had better. I have never written a review before on a restaurant. Tonight I feel compelled to tell you our experience with our $110 dinner. We ordered 2 curry dishes, 2 salads, 1 noodle dish, 1 soup, & 2 small rice's. The portions were so small that most of us didn't have a full portion to eat. I called the restaurant to tell them how disappointed I was but only found that I was not getting anywhere. Instead I was told that they have never gotten a complaint like this before. I was then told that the portions were measured out and adequate. After I explained I did not want to argue and that I was obviously getting no where she hung up on me. However, there is a Spicy Mussels dish that hits all the right lavish saucy and oceanic squishy notes, admirable enough that I'd have it again. But if you're looking for blow steam out of your ears excellence, then temper expectations. We're talking mid-range or slightly above standards Thai food here. Exotic Thai serves some of the better Thai food in Agoura Hills with a very large menu with lunch specials and daily deals. This was my third time at this location and they continue to impress. I will do a pros and cons to make this easier. Pros - The food is absolutely delicious. The pad Thai and Rama Thai are a must. - The Serving sizes are quite big. I love that I always have leftovers for later - The chicken satay for appetizers is really good. Almost a must but I'd save your stomach for the entrees - Location is perfect at the shopping center and the interior is quite nice. - The beef and shrimp here is really good. Easily higher quality than other locations. Cons - If it's not a special, it could get quite pricey. I wish it was a bit cheaper as I would come for dinner but lunch is the best time to come as you can't beat those deals - Service can be a bit on the slow side. However, they do make everything fresh which is good, but still much slower than other restaurants. Overall, I feel Exotic Thai Cafe is easily one of the better Thai spots in Agoura Hills and I definitely recommend coming here for the lunch specials. Can't beat a great meal for under $10 read more

Used to be very good and had good service. The food I picked up today was not as good as it used to be and one dish was missing. I called and they said they would refund the missing dish but that didn't help the fact that we didn't have enough food at the dinner table. I was very disappointed in both the food and the missing dish. Maybe they had a different chef and server today??? Update: The refund did not show up. The food was really great. Everyone at my table loved the taste of what they got. They have lunch specials everyday that are fairly priced. I felt like my noodles were cut way too much though. There didn't seem to be a single strand that was longer than 2 inches. That was the only turn off but other than that my experience was great. read more

Hubby and I took the kiddos here one evening on a whim. I love Thai food and was glad we stopped by. I got a mojito for $6 and the kids got Arnold Palmer. Hubby had the Thai iced tea.
