It was my first time at Experience Burma in Pleasanton, and I left really impressed. I ordered the Tea Leaf Salad with cabbage and lettuce and loved it. Easily one of the best I've had--probably the only other one I've liked this much was at Rangoon Ruby in Palo Alto. The flavors were fresh and layered, with that perfect balance of crunch and tang. The Mint Chicken was another standout, fragrant and full of flavor without feeling heavy. I also tried the Lavender Martini and mojito, both beautifully presented but much too sweet for my taste. Definitely go for the food here and skip the drinks. For a first visit, it felt like the kind of place I'd come back to--warm service, vibrant dishes, and food that feels both comforting and alive.

Nice neighborhood restaurant with friendly service. Food is fresh and flavorful. I'm glad to see this restaurant surviving especially since it's off Main Street.

Platha and Coconut Chicken Curry Dip

Was walking downtown Pleasanton and saw a sign for Burmese food so me and my sister decided to give it a try! We walked into the restaurant and was immediately seated! See below thoughts about the food. Prices were decent and mot outrageous. Overall i would come again to check out more of their menu items! We ordered 3 dishes: Tea leaf salad - tasty, classic burmese dish! You cant go wrong with ordering this dish. Up to par with burma burma and other restaurants. Nan Gyuk Thok - was disappointing, i think egg really neutralized any flavor the noodles had. There was way too much egg! Not sure if that is how the dish traditionally tastes, but we thought it had no flavor. Platha with curry coconut chicken - SO GOOD. We loved this dish and the dipping curry ran circles around the noodle sauce/flavoring in the other dish! We wished the noodles had the same flavoring as this curry!!!!

Had a reservation for 12/26 at 4:30 PM. When we arrived at the restaurant it was closed with no explanation. We waited for about 15 minutes while I tried calling the restaurant without any success and during that time a worker opened the door. Unfortunately he did not speak English and kept repeating 20 minutes. Ended up going elsewhere.

Burmese Style Ice Tea & Mango Tofu

Really good Burmese food in Pleasanton! I found Experience Burma Restaurant on Yelp when I was looking for restaurants in the area, as I'm not too familiar with the restaurants there. There was a long line for an early St. Patty's Day pub crawl. Despite the crowd, I somehow got lucky and was able to park right in front of the restaurant. When we got inside, we were asked if we had a reservation, which we didn't. At first, we were told they couldn't take us without a reservation, which was odd since there were a lot of empty tables. Fortunately, they checked their reservation system and were able to seat us. We started off with drinks: Burmese iced tea, sprite and Arnold Palmer. Though I'd never tried Burmese iced tea before, I had a feeling I'd like it because milk teas are my go to drink at boba spots. It was great! The mango tofu has the perfect amount of sweetness and wasn't overly spicy. My friends had the chicken lettuce wraps and a chicken dish (don't recall which one). Service was friendly and the restaurant was not noisy. Even though I live too far to be a regular, I would definitely come back in the future. Next time I'd make a reservation on Open Table.

This was a tasty outing overall. While not every dish blew me away, most of the food was enjoyable and flavorful. Here's a breakdown of what we tried: Samusas - Definitely a reorder! The shell was perfectly crisp, and the potato curry filling was well-seasoned and satisfying. Sesame Chicken - A standout dish. I'd return just for this alone--crispy, flavorful, and delicious. Curry Catfish - Unfortunately, this was a miss. The catfish was tough, not boneless (which made it difficult to eat in curry form), and tasted a bit off, like it wasn't very fresh. Disappointing all around. Eggplant in Garlic Sauce - Just okay. Some pieces were surprisingly hard, but the sauce was tasty, and the well-cooked eggplant pieces made it worth considering again. Black Pepper Beef - This one was a hit. The beef was tender, and the seasoning was on point. Coconut Rice & Garlic Noodles - Both were great complements to the entrees and added a nice touch to the meal. Sugar Plathas - I mean, it's fried dough--what's not to love? I'd definitely order this again. Semolina Cake with Mango Ice Cream - The mango ice cream was refreshing and light, but the semolina cake was a letdown--dry and uneven in texture. Service was fantastic. Our server was working solo and somehow managing a packed house--including a table of 12, several other groups, and a few tables outside. Despite the chaos, he stayed calm, friendly, and made a clear effort to provide great service to everyone. Major props to him! The atmosphere was lively--perhaps a little too lively. Most of the noise came from the party of 12, who were carrying on like they were in someone's living room. Not the restaurant's fault, but it did make things a bit loud. Overall, I'd definitely come back to try more dishes--and for sure to get the sesame chicken again!

Modern small restaurant that makes it feel warm & welcoming. We decided to have a birthday dinner & try out a few of their dishes. The 3 dishes that stood out were the Tea Leaf Salad, Lemongrass Pork & coconut Chicken Curry. Portions are small so if you're hungry you'll need to order more. Dishes: Tea Leaf Salad- I always start with this salad & it didn't disappointed. All the crunchy components make my mouth happy. Seasoning was perfect. Lemongrass Pork- tender pieces of pork well marinated with fragrant lemongrass made this a memorable dish to re-order. Burmese Chicken Curry w/Potato-not spicy but had a wonderful curry spice flavor. It would be another re-order dish. Burmese Fried Rice-your typical fried rice dish that is simple yet satisfying. Garlic Noodles-a perfectly cooked noodle dish but lacking a little more garlic to make it worthy of its name. Black Peppered Steak-nice big chunks of meat well marinated & seasoned. Burmese Stir Fry Vegetables-a small dish that didn't have any different seasoning than that of Chinese stir fried vegetable dish. Service was efficient & food was average.

Nice ambiance. Pretty decor and nicely decorated inside. Food was good and tried some new dishes. Felt full. Good to have a Burmese restaurant in the area.

Experience Burma is an experience for sure. I love to sit all the way in the back where they have a small nook of some sort. Very cozy and comfortable. I love the Mango Shrimp. The portion is more than enough, especially if you eat appetizers. My go to is the Salt & Pepper Calamari. The coating is crunchy and the inside is flavorful. The sesame chicken is crunchy and the flavor isn't too overpowering. As well as the curry. As a side, the coconut rice is a must. I've tried many things on the menu and everything is more than perfect. They have a good selection of drinks & desserts. My favorites being the Burmese Ice Tea & the Fried Banana and Ice Cream. Everyone is so welcoming and nice. They go above and beyond to make your visit memorable. No reservation needed but can help if the restaurant is busy. They have some outdoor seating as well. Cute location too.

Lemongrass Chicken

We tried this place at one of the Pleasanton pub crawls and only had a small taste. So we've been wanting to come back to it and yesterday was the perfect time for us to come. We walked in the place was small, but it decorated really nice and cool. Felt very like close to the culture we sat down. We ordered the two of the lunch specials. I had the black pepper steak and my husband had the chicken lemon grass. Both came out super quick and so so good. The salad that comes with the lunch specials I don't know what they put in there, but that thing is so good. I could've had a whole gallon of that salad. It was so so good. The Samosa was also really good but just thought it was just like a Samosa there was nothing special about it, but it was tasty. The lemongrass chicken was so good. The vegetables were crispy but still cooked. The chicken was thinly sliced and there was no fatty or chewiness to it. The taste was very good. It comes with some white jasmine rice, which was well cooked. My steak was really good as well. Had a little sweetness to it not spicy at all, but we got some chili sauce, which was so spicy so if you're not good with spice, don't have it overall everything was really good! we wanted to try their sticky rice which we were under the impression it was gonna be like a mango sticky rice, but it was not. It was the dark sticky rice with mango ice cream, but we opted for fresh mango. Instead, the mango was not ripe. It was very hard and bitter the rice was still kind of hard and not as chewy as we would have liked so we sent that back and they were very nice about it. They refunded that part of the bill for us overall it was great. We're totally gonna come back with some other friends to try some different menu items 10 out of 10..

Fried Burmese Yellow tofu
Nicole M.

I went to Experience Burma for my birthday. My friend and I decided to do things family style. We ended up ordering eggplant with garlic sauce and coconut rice, fried Burmese yellow tofu. Mango salad, and samusa soup. I had never had yellow tofu so it was nice to try something new. The salad was crisp with lovely bits of fried garlic. The garlic sauce was particularly delicious, and the eggplant was tender. The soup had all the tings. I loved the cabbage best Normally, I would have had tea, but just for my birthday I had a cocktail. The Tropical Burma was delightfully refreshing. It looked just like a mojito but featured cilantro and ginger. Yum! I was really happy with my meal. The staff was great. They didn't seem to mind I brought my own cake. And, the people watching was good. It seems like this is a place where people go to linger over a meal. It's clean and bright. Yesterday was not a day for outdoor dining, but their sidewalk seating looked appealing. Will be back. Definitely recommend.

First time ever trying Burmese food. I'm usually accustomed to eating Southeast Asian food because my family is from Cambodian, Vietnamese , and Indian Heritage but always wanted to try Burmese food since we don't have any of that in Stockton. Came across this place, in a nice quiet area tucked in between small beautiful streets. Service was okay, server seemed a little tense but maybe it was just the day. Otherwise, the "mohinga" was amazing. It seemed similar to taste like Cambodian "nom ba chock" but instead they used smoked fish and chickpeas! The salad was amazing also. Never knew all those flavors existed! Classy and quaint interior. Seems a little upscale, didn't expect that. I would return again and try other dishes!

Parata and curry
Bhamidipati M.

This is my first experience with Burmese food and I must say I was pleasantly surprised with the taste and freshness of the food. The tea leaf salad and Burmese eggplant curry were the highlight of our visit! The samosa soup and Partha curry did not disappoint. The service was prompt and the ambience pleasant. Do try the Burmese milk tea if you like south asian tea.

We got the mango curry and rice, garlic noodles, tea leaf salad and samosa soup. The main curry came first but it didn't come with the rice. It sat there and got cold for 10 mins before the rice came. The appetizers came only in the end. The hostess was short and she just seemed busy. I understand. The waitress was nice enough but was absent during most of our meal. She seemed to be waiting many tables. However she told my 7 yo she'll get ice cream after dinner 3 different times, which was sort of uncalled for. Then my kid decided she wanted it (because which kid says no to ice cream!) And we were forced to buy it. Why keep mentioning it to a kid if you can't afford to just give it. That's a really shallow form of selling things and I don't know if the waitress intended it but we were pretty pissed that she forced us to eat and pay for ice cream.

My favorite dish was the famous Tea Leaf Salad, a mixture of shredded cabbage, tomatoes, green chilies, dried shrimp, peanuts, yellow beans, and sesame seeds, all tossed in a fermented tea leaf dressing. The salad was crunchy, nutty, spicy, umami, and refreshing all at the same time, and there was a generous amount of the deliciously salty and tangy tea leaf dressing (much more than in versions of this salad from other restaurants)! Next, the Fish Noodle Soup was a spiced chowder with rice noodles, catfish, egg, cilantro, and fried yellow bean--a hearty, warming dish. The Lamb Curry with Potato was made of tender chunks of lamb in an oily spiced curry, served with a flaky pan-fried Parata; and the Chicken Drumstick Curry came with two braised drumsticks in a flavorful spice mixture, served with spiced yellow rice mixed with raisins and green peas, topped with crispy onions, pickled onions, and fried chilies! Of the two curries, I preferred the flavor of the Chicken Curry, but the tender meat of the Lamb Curry. The Parata was crispy and buttery, and the yellow rice with toppings had an incredible flavor and combination of textures. Overall, the food here was seriously delicious, and this super friendly restaurant is worth going out of the way to visit!

My favorite is the coconut curry chicken noodle soup! As amazing as delicious as the food was, a lot of it is pretty oily, esp the curries. I've had to scoop out spoonfuls of oil. Or when I take home left overs, I will put it in the fridge for the oil/fat to solidify and then scoop it out. Tealeaf salad is one of my favorite salads of all time but, it is a hit or miss - sometimes it's on point but a few times have been too salty. Over the years, it has gotten painfully expensive for the portion sizes they serve. Some dishes even cost more, but sides were taken out. You basically are paying more for your dish, but for less food than before the price increase. Tealeaf salad is now a whomping $17!!! In the 3 years I've been coming here, there have been 2-3 price increases. As much as I loved coming here, sadly, I do not think that it is worth it anymore.
