The Teriyaki beef was amazing . And the cucumber salad was to die for! The " so So Fresh" sushi is the best sushi I had because it has a strong lemon flavor on that sushi . The service was fast and the servers are always polite and kind. They had a good amount of staff on tonight . The ambiance does need help though. When they have music playing it's always loud . So they need to change that. However all I care about is the food and the service and both the food and the service was great! I will keep coming back for more! read more

For everyone that knows me already knows that I am an avid lover of sushi and Japanese food in general. And in the 6+ years that I have lived in this area (as of late-2022), I have never stumbled across this hidden gem. Located in the Carmichael/Fair Oaks area of Sacramento, this is none other than "Express Sushi & Teriyaki". This place is situated in a strip mall directly on Madison Ave. and adjacent to Manzanita Ave. It neighbors several big businesses that include a Ross, Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market, Petco, and Home Depot. I had the opportunity to dine here during the evening of Friday 11/4/2022 at around 7:00pm. My +1 and I were immediately greeted and seated within minutes. The entire layout and ambiance of this restaurant is very well-lit complete with several booths and pub-styled tables throughout. The sushi bar area had brightly colored lighting which gave this place a nice upscale look to it. The floor tiles were also very modern which was also a warm welcome. Our server asked if we would like any appetizers. We chose the 6-piece of Gyoza and Edamame. We also opted for alcoholic beverages; I went with a bottle of Sapporo beer while my +1 went with a glass of red Merlot wine. When it came time to order our main food, we decided to go the traditional route of what they're known for which is their sushi. I went with the "Unagi Oh Unagi" which had a blend of deep fried shrimp, crab, & avocado topped with unagi and more crab while she went with their "House Wife Special" which was a 'torched' roll complete with deep fried shrimp, crab, & avocado and topped with unagi and spicy tuna. She also requested fried onion flakes for an additional charge. Even though it was very busy during a Friday evening, both of our sushi rolls arrived at our table in less than 10 minutes. Our server was very accommodating while providing us with plenty of wasabi, ginger, and two iced waters with lemon. Additionally, her level of customer service was well above average. As far as the sushi itself, everything tasted great while being very filling. There was no apparent fishy smell to it and the rice held together quite nicely. All in all, "Express Sushi & Teriyaki" is a very decent and affordable place to get quality sushi. When you factor in the ambiance, price, service, and most importantly the food, I am giving this place a reputable four-star Yelp rating. read more

I arrived at express sushii today to order one single unagii roll (not nigiri)Nigeria. I placed my order at the counter with the friendly receptionist/waitress at the front. I then departed, and held the door open for a few senior citizens to enter the place. I went to Walmart thinking my order would be ready to pick up once I returned. After all, I only ordered one item, there were only 4 people in the whole restaurant, it was during the start of their happy hour deal. I left to get a few things from Walmart, when I returned it wasn't ready, no worries... I sat down with my son and waited...and waited... and waited... i saw the elderly folks who had come in after me had all recieved their orders, and eaten half of them down. And while i was there only two pick up orders had gone out. When i asked the hostess what had happened, she just said that they had been swamped with orders... i could clearly look around and see that was not the case. The chefs were indeed actively working, but on what or for who i couldnt tell you. My order had been made just after 2:15pm. (Recipt says 2:18pm actually) I left the store at 3:05pm with no unagi roll. And more frustration than it was worth. "EXPRESS" sushii my ass. -the place was dead -I ordered one roll, -They sold me a lie rather than just telling me they forgot or something far more likley. -and it was all supposed to be during their happy hour (2-5pm) what a load of crap. Fuck this place, it's overpriced anyways. The little silver lining is i convinced another couple to not go there, because I told them how long I had been waiting. Never coming back unless they find themselves under new managment. read more

If you're a fan of rolls with cooked fish, this is the place for you. However, if you are a fan of Nigri, or sashimi, look for another place. There's literally a sushi joint kitty corner from this location that is way better for fresh fish and a variety of options. The interior is loud and not at all romantic. Service is mediocre. There's not a decent waiting area so if you have to wait for a table the best place to wait is outside. We used to come here regularly, but stopped when I pulled a toothpick out of my Sashimi salmon, and the toothpick had been dyed pink from where it was inserted into the salmon. It brought into question the authenticity of the fish that they serve. We will never be back. read more

What a lovely find. Great selection of food. My friend had seafood with noodles. The flavor was wonderful, but the selection of seafood was a bit limited I thought. The calamari was quite tough. The shrimp, vegetables and sauce were perfect though. I shared an ordered of tempura shrimp for an appetizer and they were beautiful and perfectly done. Then had a I Love Creamy sushi roll. And it was wonderful. My friend hadn't had sushi before. She thought it was all just raw fish. I think we have a convert here. The restaurant has a very clean, open appearance. Sushi were good but the service is terrible, Russian speaking lady at the front has huge attitude and doesn't have manners. I bought a sushi boat for the first time in my life and didn't know I have to return it until I asked why they need my card if I want to pay cash and they said that's if you won't return the boat, I was very surprised because they didn't say anything when I was ordering, but thankful I asked and heard that but nothing else they said not even the time unless I asked because they have such small time frame for return and I was surprised they don't say that prior to order I have to bring the boat until the next day 12 pm or will be charged as much as was your order cost. . Second thing when my party was over and due to the boat being wooden I thought I don't have to clean it to not ruin the wood and the surface, I wasn't sure because they also didn't say anything about what they do to the boat to keep it look good and I have to clean it so I just left it as it is just wiped a little bit food out of it. When I was returning the boat Russian speaking lady was looking at me like she's the master of the place without greetings or welcomes she straight said :why it's dirty ?We don't accept dirty boats , why you brought it dirty? . I'm standing with my 2 year old holding heavy boat and she's like doesn't give a finger about anything. How am I supposed to know I have to clean it , and why does she speaking to me like I'm some sort of poop, they haven't notified me about anything not for return the boat , not about the time for return being so short , and not me cleaning the boat. And after that she gives me this attitude, I liked sushi but after this lady spoke to me like that I won't be going to this place anymore. Do not recommend!!!! read more

I have been come here for years, staff is kind and the food is great while not being too expensive. Their gyoza is flavorful with a delicious sauce, pepperfin is good, tiger wrap is super fresh, and my personal favorite roll is the Alex special with salmon on top!
