In town visiting with a group and we were looking for something local, reasonably priced, delicious, and on the casual side. This place was rated well for all of the above, so we gave it a go. We came in on a Sunday night and the place was sort of dead. The restaurant itself is very small, but they have a large outdoor area that is covered where they seat most everyone. I felt very underdressed in shorts and a T-shirt; I wouldn't say that this place is necessarily casual. We started with a Fritto Misto appetizer that came with 3 incredibly tough, over- cooked shrimp, lightly breaded calamari rings, & 3 soggy zucchini Julienne slices lightly fried & served with marinara. The spaghetti & meatballs and fettuccine Alfredo were a hit. The lobster ravioli was also great, but not filling in the slightest, and at $25 a plate that was disappointing. The Caesar salad dressing was on the thin side, and the chicken in the salad was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. This place wasn't a total miss, but no where near a hit out of the park. I'd argue that it's grossly over priced for the quality of some of the items we were served. Oh, the bathrooms are pretty worn down. This place is decent, nothing too fancy or special. The waiter was extremely nice and funny! We ordered the bruschetta with prosciutto as an appetizer, and the spaghetti seafood and gnocchi pesto with shrimp. The bruschetta was really good, the prosciutto was so soft! I personally preferred the gnocchi, it was more flavorful and rich whereas the spaghetti dish had a tomato sauce that didn't taste like much to me. However, there was a considerable amount of seafood on the dish which was good since most places don't give as much seafood as you expect! I come here at least once a week and always get the same thing. Spaghetti with olive oil, garlic and topped off with fresh salmon. What can I say? I'm a creature of habit. Plus, I've tried other dishes and this one is the best. My friends do vouch for the penne with vodka though, if spaghetti ain't your thing. The waiter is always nice and friendly and knows that I like chili flakes with my pasta. If it's a nice day, try and sit outside in the courtyard. It's quite peaceful and charming. read more

I found this restaurant on the Internet, and picked it because it was close to the Pantages Theater. What a surprise. Completely unassuming from the street, I would likely have never walked in unless I had a reservation. The I side of the restaurant is a little small, there is a bar & a kitchen, but walk through the doors to the outside patio & you have been transported somewhere other than the middle of Hollywood. There is a wonderful breeze outside & you are surrounded by plants & a back well covered in pockets of plants. They have a decent selection of wines & beers & they have specials as well. We started with the Bruschetta, to which we added mozzarella, as well as the Calamari. The Bruschetta was amazing - served on a thin focaccia bread, it was seasoned perfectly & the added mozzarella on top was flavorful & lovely. No need to salt or pepper the tomatoes, they were seasoned perfectly. The calamari was light & the tomato sauce for dipping had just a slight bite of spice I almost think we should have ordered a bunch of appetizers! My husband ordered the lasagna, which he said was tasty. The Caesar salad was crisp & fresh & loaded with Parmesan. My son had the 4 Cheese Gnocchi - the cheese sauce was creamy & tasty. Perfectly seasoned over light pillows of gnocchi. I had the Seafood Risotto, which is marked as a "favorite". Flavor wise it was really good, and the rice was cooked perfectly. Some of the seafood, however, was slightly over cooked.....this is really the only reason I am not giving it 5 stars. We finished with tiramisu & panna cotta. The tiramisu was light & airy & not overly boozy tasting. The panna cotta was superb! The only thing I wasn't happy with was the $8.95 price for EACH dessert. The service was decent. As the restaurant got busier we saw our waiter less & less, but there were many people bringing food & clearing plates. They ran out credit card, but didn't give us an itemized receipt, and we didn't have time to wait for one as we had to walk to the show. That, in my mind, is a bit of a no no..... A very friendly spot with cool patio dining in the back of the restaurant. Service was fantastic and with a party of ten, we were cared for with great enthusiasm. I started with the soup of the day - Yellow Squash and tomato. It was delicious. Thick, rich and filling. I could eat it all day. I also had the Risotto Pollo Spinaci - grilled chicken breast, sautéed spinach, fontina cheese, butter & parmesan. The chicken was moist and the dish was filling. The overall flavor was just a bit bland for my taste. I also tried the Risotto Nero shrimp and calamari sautèed in a squid ink sauce, and the Risotto Primavera tossed with seasonal vegetables, butter, light tomato sauce, topped with grated parmesan. Everything was good, it just was missing some flavor to make it great. Many of us added some garlic, olive oil spread (served with the bread) to our dishes, which helped to kick up the flavor. I had high expectations for this place. I walked by on my way to Tender Greens one night and thought I would give it a try. I went here for dinner over the weekend. Thankfully there wasn't a wait. The street parking in the area is pretty much non existent, and we drove around the block first before giving into the valet service they have out front. The price was $7 for valet parking. I did check-in on yelp and got that free lemonade. I was told that it's fresh. I actaully enjoyed it, but my friend thought it was too sweet. Bread was brought to our table to start with, it was a bit cold so i'm guessing they keep it in the fridge...but should have heat it up a bit. The dip was pretty good. We ordered the Calamari, and Bruschetta for our appetizer. I can appreciate the Calamari because it wasn't salty and the dip gave it just the right amount of spice and flavor. I thought the Breschetta was delicious, with mozzarella, basil, and tomatoes. We then shared the lasagna. I was disappointed with the lasagna because it wasn't hot. I felt as if they just took it out of the fridge and heated it up in the microwave, which still wasn't quite hot....just warm. I think that if they baked it in the oven, or brought it to us hot...it could have been very good. The service was great. Our waiter, an italian guy (with the accent and all) was great. The food was okay, but the service needs some work. It started with the hostess, not very welcoming. We were a little early for our reservation and she was kind enough to show us to a table. I said thank you and no acknowledgement. I would have waited. The waiter seemed bothered that he had to take our orders. Halfway through our meal someone else comes up asking if they can take our plates. We had only been served not so long ago. It was obvious we were not thru with our meal. The only person that seemed to enjoy what they were doing was the guy that brought us our drinks. He had smile on his face and was very personable. If not for family who took us here first, we would not have known about Fabiolus. We've been here about 4-5 times and had some really memorable evenings. We were recently there for Valentine's Day. People watching that night was as awesome as the dinner. We've had the same server several times, though I don't know his name. Everything we've eaten has been delicious. I ordered the truffle ravioli and my boyfriend ordered the seafood spaghetti. Truffle ravioli wasn't really worth the price and the seafood spaghetti was supposed to include salmon but there was none to be found in the dish and the dish was overly salted. I wasn't crazy about our bruschetta (tomatoes had been mixed together much too long ago) but our burrata appetizer and vodka penne with shrimp were great. The pasta doesn't look that fancy at first, but the sauce is delicious, the noodles are perfectly cooked, and the shrimp we added were HUGE! We also had a campagna pizza which was good. We were pretty full at that point so hard to tell. I liked the sausage they put on it, their mushrooms not so much. Would prefer mushrooms with a little texture. When I go back I'm focusing on pasta! Actually really excited to write this review because this restaurant deserves all 5 stars. Had an amazing date night here thanks to the staff! To start, I made a reservation but it seemed like it wasn't needed as the place wasn't crowded on a Wednesday night. The free parking in the back is a major plus! I usually don't prefer to sit outdoors but with this restaurant, I would definitely choose outdoors next time. My date and I ordered the Bruschetta Classica with mozzarella cheese and the Antipasto for starters. Ah I absolutely loved the imported meats from the antipasto tray. For $15, the meats weren't too salty and it was a great start to fulfill my appetite. For my entree, I ordered the Penne alla Vodka with spaghetti noodles. They are pretty lenient in letting you substitute with their menu. I really liked their house made pasta. This dish just the pasta I was craving! My date ordered the Chicken Parmesan. It wasn't anything special but it was a decent dinner dish. Large portion and very filling. Cocktails were really good here too. For a somewhat casual place, they make really great drinks! Had Dinner here with friends last week for the first time. It's SO good we decided on making a reservation to go again this Friday Night for Date Night. Had a Pizza to start, (The Italian Sausage)...Marinara and crust are Outstanding! I had the Penne Vodka cooked to perfection...requested extra Garlic and lite oil with Chicken...the Pasta came exactly as I wanted it cooked. The Owner Mauro came over and introduced himself, he said that is exactly how he orders the pasta and insured it was done the same way. He also has a pretty good Wine list. We brought our own bottle and he helped us select one from his menu to pair with the pastas. My Wife had the Lasagna which was Great also. They are opening a Restaurant next door DEDICATED to only serving Lasagna. 15 different types of Lasagna to be exact! Will be trying there when it opens! I beg to differ on the rating. I ordered gnocchi bolognese. It had a vast amount of spinach! I have had a lot of bolognese but never with spinach. I found that odd ‍. They charge for garlic bread. I have never been to an Italian restaurant that charges for garlic bread. To me that is insane and ideally for me unheard of. I know I live in LA county but the prices here are outrageous to me. Take about taking advantage of the consumer. Now, obviously this is just my opinion but it wasn't good for the prices they charge. To each their own I guess. I made a reservation in advance via Yelp (pro tip- use Yelp instead of their website to avoid a hold on your card). Once we arrived, we were immediately seated in the back where they've significantly expanded the building's footprint with a serious tent setup. The tables are pretty close together so it's easy to hear other's conversations but not too loud due to the lack of a true ceiling. I enjoyed my chicken piccata immensely for a somewhat healthier option and the few bites of garlic bread I was able to try. The vodka sauce on one dish and meatballs on another that I tried were also tasty. Service was excellent throughout and I enjoyed the calm of this dining experience in comparison to many of the louder options in the area. You can eat inside or out but outside isn't really outside per se as it is like a tent. The food portions are great and flavors are all there. A huge group of us came by for lunch during work last week and they were happy to accommodate us. It's crazy because I work right across the street yet I've never noticed how large of a back patio area they have from the front. Most people actually dine outside on the patio as the inside has very limited seating. I was especially impressed with how fast they got our food out, considering how many people we had. The servers were also kind and friendly. They give you bread and olive oil to start your meal off with. Usually I try not to indulge in the bread prior to my meals, but this combo was just too good to resist. Their bread was so incredibly soft and the olive oil made it an irresistible combination. I got the truffle mushroom ravioli from their homemade pasta section and it was delicious. The sauce was rice but not overpowering. After I finished the ravioli, I also had plenty of sauce leftover to dip bread into. And we had to signal the wait staff twice to get their meal served. And zero concern or apology. Water wasn't refilled. We came before a show at the Pantages and the experience cast a pall over our evening. Food was ok, but nothing special. Obviously never going back. Based on some reviews, others have had good experiences here.
