I live in Rhode Island and recently had an issue with my car in the Wakefield, MA area. Being from RI, I was clueless as to who I could call to get an honest and timely repair for an "out of towner". I couldn't have been more pleased with their honesty and quality of work. I thought I blew my radiator, in fact, that's exactly what I told Bob. They checked out the car and explained exactly what the problem was (a hose), had it fixed and back to me for far less than what I had anticipated and I was off and on my way. I blew out a tire in Wakefield and was trying to get my tire fixed fast as it's not near home and I had my 1-year old with me on a 90+ degree day. I called up Fahey's and, even though they were backed up, took my name down and said they'd take a look at my car to see if they could help and how fast they could help (and when they said they were backed up, there were at least 10 cars waiting and ALL bays were full when I arrived). The man who helped me, Paul, took down my tire info, but couldn't help as they didn't have the tire in stock. However, he knew that my dealer most likely would, so he offered to call them for me!! Who does that in today's world? Paul at Fahey's does! He talked to parts and the service center at my dealer and off we went to get my tired fixed somewhere other than at his shop. Not that I spent a ton of time at Fahey's, nor did I have any work done on my car there, but their customer service and general helpful nature was top notch. If I lived closer, or ever am in need to help in that area of MA again, Fahey's is the first place I'll call. read more

Nice waiting room with HVAC: Need to relax? Cushy seating, tv with remote, and a tank of fish, which my dog really enjoyed. Need to work? Private carrels, WiFi, a charging station, and a PC on the internet. Need refreshments? A water chiller, a variety of coffee flavors in environmentally friendly sachets. (Yay! Oh man... I thought that I had previously made a review of this business about a year ago when my radiator went. I'm real sorry about that. I usually try to make repairs to my truck on my own. But, my radiator was something that I just couldn't do on my own. My neighbor suggested that I go to Fahey's cos she's had nothing but great experiences with them. And not only did I have a great experience with them on my radiator back then, but a couple of months ago they were so great with me regarding a break issue I was having, as well as my tires. They remind me of my old mechanic (who is sadly deceased), in that they explain everything that's happening and what and why they do what they do to fix it. Incredible people and service!!! (Did I mention that they have a vehicle just for shuttling people to someplace locally, and to pick you up locally when your car is done???) Arrived at 11am and was out the door with new tires, expertly mounted and balanced. Super clean waiting area with TV, coffee, etc. This is the way all service business "used" to be. Discovered Fahey's a couple of years ago and have been bringing our cars there for pretty much everything ever since. They do great work, they do it quickly, and at a fair price. Currently was looking for a place to have my tires Road Forced Balanced. I will be dropping my Jeep off here in the next few days. But as I was bored at work reading the reviews I remembered I came here a month or so ago with my wife's SUV, she had a nail in the tire with a slow leak. My son does Judo across the street and it was very near closing time. Figured I would have to come back the next day. But they got my right in and did a quick plug and got it right back out. Awful experience with Fahey's Tire, something I was not expecting based on the quality of their reviews online and through word of mouth. I had to go back a few times for someone to believe a sound I was hearing in my car was true, which it was. This was after I had to go on a ride where someone asked me if the wind outside was the noise I was hearing. They wrote me off as a dumb woman who didn't know anything and was treated like so, talked about me poorly and degradingly when I was standing in front of them and showed so little care for myself or how they were treating me. Would not recommend if you want to be treated with any decency or respect. read more

Just went to Fahey's for the first time for an oil change. Very easy to book an appointment and Jim was super helpful. They didn't try to upsell anything and the cost was cheap! I waited outside and it took about 45 minutes. They definitely get an A+ for service! read more

So pleased with this place. They assessed my tire on the lift and determined no repair was needed because the nail didn't penetrate. They charged $0 for their effort and expertise. Was referred here by my mechanic. They might be fine for daily drivers but if you have a performance vehicle, try Wheel Specialists in Peabody. I have a high performance vehicle. Told them I was referred and had them mount new tires. Paid extra for the Road Force Variance balance and detailed how I wanted to exorcise a vibration I was getting over 85 mph. Asked for the full RFV report as well from the machine ( it details whether the new tires are within spec.) Well they roll the car out saying it was ready. No reports off the RFV, just one number signifying the degree of balance. Well two are over a 25 which means they are out of tolerance. Guy tells me one of the rims is bad. Great. Then why is the car out in the lot? I ask him swap the bad rim for a good one on the spare. DUH ! Kid goes out in the lot to make the correction. Takes the wrong wheel off the car ! By the time i get his attention, he has dismounted the tire from the rim. He reseats the tire, then, w/o rebalancing it, puts it back on the car and takes of the bad wheel to swap out with the spare rim. I did not bother hanging around to get it right. Took it to Wheel Specialists where they did. I took the time to write a nice letter to owner detailing the problems I had so he could tighten up his operation. He didn't even bother getting back to me w/ a thank you. If you care about performance, don't bother trying to find it at Fahey. 2/3/14 Follow Up: The owner of the company just responded to my letter. It seems my letter that I sent to them a couple weeks before writing this review was confused with other items and did not receive immediate attention. The owner apologized for the service I received and thanked me for bringing it to his attention. He was gracious enough to refund my entire cost even though indeed I received services that WERE beneficial. And he offered to make things right in the event I was still not happy w/ the wheels. This company stands behind their reputation as a reliable and worthy business ! read more

This place was going to get 5 stars. But, when I had to return my car because one of the workers misunderstood my directions about mounting some wheels, I got a slashed axle boot. So, sorry to say that I was ready to give lots of business to this place (have a whole family that regularly goes from summer to snows, and needs brakes and alignment work), now I will give none. I purchased a set of tires off of tire rack and brought my Volvo to Fahey Tire for an install and alignment since I have only seen good reviews. To go along with the tires I was installing a new set of wheels that required the use of spacer, there was some debate whether the lug bolts were the proper ones for the wheels, so they called several places including the manufacturer of the spacers to ensure that I had the proper bolts or if there was a better alternative for my car. After everything was installed I was instructed to come back and make sure the wheel bolts are properly torqued and ensure there are no further issues. I know that a lot of tire shops would have simply installed the wheels without taking the time to ensure that I had lug bolts with the proper seats, and sent me on my way. Great service, my alignment was perfect and a good price. You won't regret bringing your car here. read more

this review is for the mount and balance of new tires on new rims. My experience with other shops were disappointing because they always manage to scratch or gouge the rims. Heard squeaking in my breaks. They told me to bring it in and they could check it out. They were very honest, said it was just front pads and rotors and rear still had some time left in them. Feel like many places would have said to replace everything. They gave a very reasonable estimate and the final price came in under the estimate. alignment for my 16 yr old family van. Been hearing about Fahey's for 30 yrs. When I lived in Wakefield the people who lived in the 2 family I did spoke highly of them and always got their auto work done there. Over the years I continued to hear good things. When I needed tires and knew I also needed an alignment, I scheduled via the web site. They were fast to reply and easy to schedule with ... I went back and forth with them due to my schedule. Anyway, I had a 8 AM appt. Was told to plan for 1 hr. I was in and out in 45 minutes for my 4 wheel alignment. Seems like only my front right side was out of alignment. The waiting room area was very comfy ... I was taken right away, the desk staff was quick and efficient, price was as quoted and very competitive without discounts / coupons, etc. I indeed noticed a difference in steering and handling after the alignment so, I assume all is well and done properly. I am pleased to say that everything I heard over the last 30 years has been true. My only "complaint" is that there web site is not user friendly for someone like me. I did try to shop tires but, could not determine if they were competitive in terms of price and related services ... such as installation, disposal fees, balancing, etc. read more

Recently had my '07 Civic Si in there to replace a clutch and investigate an issue with the 3rd gear. Jim was the guy who ushered the work through the process. He detailed out all of the possible things that might need to be replaced and the cost for each. When I mentioned I had issues in 3rd gear his tech found that that the 3rd gearset should be replaced (Honda TSB confirmed this) Jim suggested that since the transmission was apart already, now is the time to do it, saving me 100s of $ instead of doing it as a one-off. All of the parts used were technically aftermarket but made by the same MFG as original honda parts (e.g. Delkin clutch KHC710). I honestly believe the car shifts better than it did when it was new. I got a great price for the clutch/transmission work and feel confident it was done correctly. I also have had about 3-4 sets of tires installed on various cars over the years here. They accept drop ships from Tire Rack. They also have quickly patched holes in various tires as well. All work was done on time and within the estimated cost. I consider myself lucky to have these guys so close to my home and work. They have a very comfortable waiting area if that's what you choose to do. Free wifi, workstations with power outlets, TV, coffee, water, etc and, unrelated to Fahey's, a good diner across the street...but that's for a separate review. ;) read more

We needed some work on my son's car, and they were great - very helpful, and not only took care of a wheel problem on his car (another place had put the lug nuts on so tightly that I was unable to get one of them off despite hours of struggling. Well, not only did they manage to take care of that, I decided to have brakes done as a surprise for my son (who was away at the time) and they were great about getting the car in soon.
