I am trying local coffee shops with my friends and I will submit. I'm having a great time doing so and Fair Trade Cafe did not disappoint! First of all aesthetically it is so cute and here I came on a Sunday and they had a DJ who played the best mix of music and created such a vibe! And sometimes when they have the DJs in the restaurant, it's too loud and overpowering the DJ here did a good job of providing music that you can vibe to, but not wear it so loud that she couldn't carry on conversations and still enjoy yourself. My friend had ordered us a coffee flight and a Matcha flight and to be honest the market plate was my favorite. I like both coffee and Matcha, but their flavors really stand out the strawberry Matcha and the banana cream. Matcha were my favorite favorites. The banana cream had such a delicious flavor and undertones to it, along with the fact that it had cold foam on top. I enjoyed it so much that I actually got a full-size cut to go. I also had a chocolate croissant which was delicious and my friend had a blueberry muffin. I tasted as it was also delicious. They were heated so they took a minute or so to come out because it was a busy day, but I do like that they do bring your treats out to you and I think the team here was super friendly and engaging and I really can't wait to return.
A very cute coffee shop with plenty of tables to work, study, and hang out. I had the chance to try the coffee and it was some of the most unique coffee I had ever tried. Their specialty coffees are delicious and definitely worth trying on your first visit. They made my coffee pretty quickly and I was able to sit and enjoy it. Because this coffee shop is in the downtown area, there is not parking lot. There is paid parking right across the street.
Much better experience than our first visit! They had a DJ and the vibe was great. Plenty of outdoor seating and a good amount inside too. I loved the Amor Latte. The matcha, though, still isn't our favorite. We have tried the 3 matcha flight and the strawberry matcha, but it tasted more like sweet strawberry milk than matcha. Very sweet and heavy on the strawberries. They don't offer gluten-free pastries, but they do have gluten free bread for sandwiches. Service not has not been that great, it often feels like we are interrupting the staff to order. We will probably give it another try and hope it keeps improving each time because it's such a great location and coffee shop!
I saw this cafe a lot over social media and TikTok, so I definitely had to stop by and try. It's located right next to a free parking garage, so parking is super convenient. Right when you walk in, you can tell this is such a cute and aesthetic cafe. We got the matcha flight, which comes with a strawberry cream, coconut cream, and banana cream matcha. The drinks are about half the size of the normal size, but this was a nice option to try their different flavors. Unfortunately, I think their matchas are a bit too sweet, with their banana cream being way too sweet for me. I was a fan of the coconut cream matcha, however. I wish it was a little less sweet, but still yummy nonetheless!
This tucked away café is a gem. I had to stop in after meeting a client in the area and I could see the line and hear the music. That's what dreamy in. Not to mention I hadn't been there before. It's a whole vibe. Very busy on the weekends flowing with coffee, laughter, and amazing aroma's coming from the kitchen. The DJ was playing the hits and plenty of space to dive into some work study if needed. It was well worth the wait. Great customer service. I'll definitely be making a trip back for that amazing looking match flight.
Stopped in for a cortado and even though it wasn't listed, the baristas didn't hesitate. They knew exactly how to make it and handed over a perfectly balanced cup with deep espresso flavor and just the right touch of milk. Smooth, strong, and finished before I wanted it to be. We grabbed seats outside and the weather made the whole experience even better. Easy atmosphere, good energy, and plenty of space to relax without feeling rushed. It's an ideal pick for a first meet up, a low key coffee date, or a spot to open the laptop and get things done. On top of that, the pricing is solid for the quality. I used to come here all the time before I got my own coffee machine. It gets very busy and crowded on weekends, so try to avoid peak days if you're looking for a quiet coffee break. The location is great, close to downtown Phoenix and many other activities. And get this: there's free parking! Honestly, the coffee itself was pretty average. However, I found myself obsessed with their matcha flight! It comes with three flavored matcha - coconut, banana, and strawberry. If you sit at the bar, you can even watch the barista prepare them, which makes the experience more fun.
Heard about their matcha flight through TikTok. The matcha flight comes with the strawberry cream, coconut cream and banana cream. All three use ceremonial matcha according to the menu. The coconut matcha was the best out of the three, as the other two were too sweet for my liking. The size of the flight were smaller than expected so we also ordered a regular sized double matcha and another coconut cream. The double matcha was also topped with whipped cream. Sweetness was on point, but it didn't taste like high quality ceremonial matcha. Aside from the matchas, this cafe offers other drinks like coffee and smoothies. They also have a variety of pastries, sandwiches/wraps and breakfast. There are plenty of seating inside and outside the cafe. I'd say this is a great spot if you're starting to get into matcha.
Great aesthetic and drinks here! I came on a Saturday afternoon and it was quite busy, there was a line to order. They're currently having a "matcha madness" special so I got the ube matcha. I love these flavors so I was really excited for this drink! It was delicious, but pricey. Parking can be hard to find around here.
I chose this spot because of the matcha flight. And is did NOT disappoint! It's a really cute cafe with a lot of feminine charm; they have a working wifi, food/snacks, and drinks beyond coffee. And it's dog-friendly. I went on a very busy morning, so service was lacking. I paid for a sandwich with gluten-free bread, and was later informed (after paying the upcharge for the bread) that they were out of the GF bread and could only make the sandwich as a salad. (No refund on the bread charge, as I forgot). It also took a longer than usual time to get my dining companion's croissant.... 10-15 min passed before she had to follow up; and then it took another 5 min or so after to come out. But it came out warm! Another area of improvement: serve dine-in drinks in normal mugs to cut down on paper cups and single use plastic tops while also keeping your tea/drinks hot. The star of the experience was the matcha flight, which you can only get it cold. Alt milks available. Each variety was a DELIGHT (honestly, Ic could never pick a favorite; all so good) and would order that again--perhaps to share because it was a lot of caffeine.
Fair Trade Cafe is a super cute and aesthetic spot -- definitely the kind of place you want to sit in and chill for a bit. They have a solid menu with tons of drink options, and if you're a matcha lover, this is the spot to visit if you're in AZ! So many good matcha choices and honestly they delivered! The barista was also very friendly and knowledgeable about all the drink options they had. That said, the long wait time pretty much overshadowed the experience. The line itself wasn't long at all, but the drinks took about 30 minutes to come out?? Definitely not a grab-and-go situation. Our friend received her drink within 5 minutes of ordering and the rest of our group ended up getting ours half an hour later -- which was kinda crazy considering we all ordered around the same time. Once we finally got our drinks though, they were hits! Some were for sure on the sweeter side, but still enjoyable and well made regardless. I ordered the Banana Cream Matcha with oat milk and it did not disappoint. It's definitely one of the sweeter matcha options on the menu, so if you're into that, you'll love it. If not, I'd probably go for something less sweet. Overall, I'd recommend stopping by if you're in the area. Just know it very well might not be a quick stop LOL -- but worth a try it if you're down to hang out, kill time, and enjoy the chill vibes.
I have seen this place all over social media and seen that their matcha looked really good. My sister and I stopped by on Friday afternoon and there was a small line to order. We waited about 10 minutes until it was our turn to order. The cashier who helped us order seemed friendly and spoke softly. I ordered one of their seasonal pumpkin drinks as a matcha and asked for a small. My sister ordered before me so she had found us a table as I was done ordering. We sat down and many people ordered after us. By this time, there was three employees out and two were making drinks. Drinks were being made not in the order they were ordered which did not make sense. Two girls who ordered after me got their matcha's way before I did. My sister waited 32 minutes for her matcha drink to be ready which is craazy..... A lady that had ordered before my sister and I seemed to be getting frustrated with the wait and we saw her go up and ask. The employee was superrrr rude to her and rudely told her that her drink was next. As we were walking out, we heard a man go up to the register and ask if he could cancel his order and get a refund as it was taking too long. My pumpkin matcha was watered down and not good. It was definitely not worth the wait, time, or money.

I have been a happy customer at fair trade cafe for about 2 years, but I think this place needs to do some reflection. The past couple visits, the drinks have been either too sweet or the flavors were off. Today we tried the sweater weather shaker. Last year, we loved their pumpkin foam chai so we thought we'd love it again, but the foam was way too thick to drink, and the chai was wayyyy too sweet. Our breakfast burrito was fine but took about half an hour to arrive--they were busy so I'm not too mad about this. I was hopeful they would thrive after the renovation, but it seems the fine tuning, care, and quality when it comes to the drinks have faded. read more
Such a great experience! The service was amazing. I think the owner or manager even came by to check on us, which was so thoughtful. The drinks were delicious, the sandwich was great, and the banana bread (even though we forgot a pic!) was so good. It's been years since I've been inside, and this was such a breath of fresh air. The vibe is literally the heart and soul of the owner. Chingona, Beautiful, and Calm. I loved being able to sit and see the beauty of it all. I absolutely loved everything. The coffee was so fresh and alternatively delicious. The place itself was clean, chic, and aesthetic to the eye. I loved being able to bring a friend here and enjoy it all. I'm sad the barista was not so nice but it's okay! The vibes in the coffee place made up for it and the flavor was amazing. I absolutely adore this cafe! The place offer various coffee options from the menu and presented seasonal drinks. I was greeted by friendly staff who were welcoming to my presence. The service was great and didn't take too long to get my order ready. The place is trendy but has a lot to offer with the sitting lounge. Fair Trade Cafe Makeover It's refreshing to see a place get renovated. It made a big difference for the business. When I walked in, I've noticed the vibe is more airy, cozy and inviting. Attention to detail with plugs for laptops and phone chargers. The menu has been reduced to a single sheet front and back. Menu has been reduced. The centerpiece of Fair Trade Cafe is the open bar area. It does make a big difference and more inviting. Only giving three stars because the idea and interior design is very well laid out, but the drinks just didn't hit the mark... I usually stick to one place because I'm very particular about my Matcha, but thought I'd give this place a try. The banana bread was phenomenal with the Matcha had no flavor tasted like plain almond milk. I don't think I'd give them another try but is a nice place too catch a vibe and possibly do work. Went here for breakfast after looking for more cafes that do coffee flights. We got the OG coffee flight and it was pretty tasty. I was very happy with the difference in flavors. It only came with 3 flavors, but you got a lot more coffee than most places that do flights. I also wanted to try a matcha as they had several flavors, and the one I got(I actually don't remember which flavor I got) was very good. Not too sweet and not overly earthy. We did also try some food items, but they were nothing to write home about. If you like coffee flights, definitely check this place out. read more

Stumbled across this gem during a weekend trip. The service here is great! The interior is gorgeous and the location is busy. It looks like a fun place to study/WFH. We met a woman who seemed like the owner and she was super friendly! The matcha is a good quality and I love that they have the option to get a matcha flight. I would definitely come back the next time I am in town. I wish we could have tried the food. Also would enjoy different brand of oat milk but that is my preference. Can't wait to come back and try a flight. Would take off half a star for the noise level, but unsure how regular they have DJs. read more

I thought this place was overall good, just a little cramped/busy for me to fully enjoy. Line was out the door when we arrived at 10am on a Friday and therr were barely any seats. We ordered a small iced mocha with extra shot and a small iced guerita. Total was $13.53. The guerita had great flavor, but I wish I had also gotten an extra shot because mine tasted just a tad watered/milked down. Didn't get a chance to try the sandwiches or pastries but they look gas--will have to try next time! read more
Fair Trade Cafe? Why not! It's my first time here and I am very impressed. They have a line curled inside their doors and I'm so surprised this many people drink coffee. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by wave a music, they have DJ 1PERIOD on the 1's & 2's, touching on just about every genre known to mankind. The line did move along line pretty fast. Got to the cashier and asked for their preference, like I always do, Ended getting what I didn't come here for, the Phoenix. From the cashier's suggestion, this was a more native take on cold brew so when in Phoenix, you must Phoenix. At the top, cinnamon cascades over ice and your milk preference. At the bottom, the cold brew. Surprisingly, it's not as blunt as I thought it would be. But it's perfect, smooth like velvet. read more

Delicious coffee! First time in Phoenix and this was our first stop out the airport. There is a parking garage behind the shop that is easily accessible and free for 2 hours. There was no wait, lots of plug-ins and wifi is also available. We had the white mocha with cold foam and it was delicious! Their chocolate croissant is also unbeatable. Wow. One of the most gorgeous cafe's I've ever been to. The place feels as luxurious as a cocktail lounge but is a cafe. I parked in the parking garage next door for free (in retail not church parking) then walking through the outdoor patio inside to meet up with a friend. I was in the need for something refreshing, so I opted for the Copper Citrus smoothie, comprised of orange juice, pineapple, mango, strawberry, carrot. I made an amazing choice, because it was perfectly sweet and absolutely delicious. My friend and I chatted for about 1 hour basking in the abundant natural sunlight of this place. The atmosphere is incredibly loud, due to how poppin' this place is, but I would definitely come back to catch up with a friend, next time trying their coffee too! read more

Love this local coffee shop. Super cute vibe with free wifi and local artists displayed on the walls. We had the matcha flight ($18 for three drinks) and it was delicious! The flavors were coconut, strawberry, and brown sugar banana. Definitely check this place out if you're downtown! read more
so I just want to say when I went to this place the first time a few years back I ordered a specialty latte and it was overly sweet, so I hadn't been back for awhile but I had to go and try their matcha flight that they were having on special during the month of May. This was the best decision for matcha choices I made in a long time. Wow! The coconut cream matcha, banana cream matcha, and strawberry cream matcha were so fabulous! The food was fabulous, I had the smoked salmon bagel sandwich and it was really flavorful. My husband had the breakfast burrito and it was so delicious. Decided to try Fair Trade Cafe in Phoenix and was definitely satisfied. Ordered a vanilla iced coffee and a breakfast burrito with turkey instead of ham, and both were great. A little expensive for mediocre food, we had tried the matcha flight it didn't taste like matcha at all but still yummy cuz it tasted like flavored milk, I had the btl with an egg on a bagel and it was good. Although they forgot about our flight and we had to wait 30 minutes after our food, overall wasn't bad very much for the insta pics /tiktoks but still a vibe. The fall coffee flight is a must! The Cajetita was my favorite, followed by the Cafecito Calabaza and then Sweater Weather. All three drinks were delicious though. The pumpkin concha was also a fun, light and flaky treat! I always love coming here, but it does get busy between 930-10a. The barista was super sweet and working hard to get all of the orders out. read more

This is a very cute place for coffee and has a nice patio for when the weather isn't too hot. The parking ramp is next to the coffee for easy in and out: We did a networking coffee connect with a non profit I am involved in. The staff were nice and plenty of seating for the group. If you are in central Phoenix o would definitely check this place out. read more

The way this place had me APPALLED!!! I ordered a banana cream matcha and a burrito with extra salsa on the side and I went around 10am on a Saturday. Customer service was fair. One girl serving drinks had an attitude when i picked up my drink but the others were calm and nice. My interaction with this girl went like this: *she calls my name with another person to pick up* I ask her "does it matter which one I take? (They were both the same drink) " She says "that's why we names on them" I tell her "uhh I don't see a name, it's my first time here" *she points to my name and hands me my drink* I felt the attitude wasn't necessary and could have responded differently. ANYWAY... The matcha was good and came out within 10 mins of ordering. What really got me was the food. Mind you the place was close to being full but the line was small and still in the building when I ordered. YALL!!! This burrito took over ONE HOUR for me to get and I ordered it TO-GO!!! Imagine me if I was actually in a rush to get something quick and it takes over an hour for food??? WARNING!!! Don't do it. And I had finished my drink before I could eat. A big dining no-no Also, the .75 extra for the salsa is unbelievable bc I got literally a tablespoon of salsa. I asked one of the guys "is this all I get?" The matcha was decent- but I am incredibly disappointed in the quality of the food. We ordered breakfast burrito with a side of papa and salsa. 2 matchas. The total was $44. Needless to say, we felt extremely ripped off when we received our order. The burrito was cold, for starters. We waited about 40 minutes for it, you'd think it would be good with all that time. It wasn't. I've never had a breakfast burrito with sweet potato, cold black bean, bell pepper, cold ham, and a cold tortilla. The "papas" on the side were also cold, and for some reason there was sweet potato too. It felt like a joke. The recent renovation has meant a jump in prices but a deterioration in quality. read more

first off, AMAZING matcha drinks. the banana cream matcha is a dream! the foam is so thick and creamy, with the perfect hint of banana flavor, and the brown sugar sprinkle on top is the perfect touch. the matcha flavor is earthy and bitter and strong, so it balances out the sweetness of the drink perfectly. they do not skimp out on the matcha here! food was okay in my opinion. the chocolate croissant wasn't flaky at all, kind of doughy, which i don't mind, but i know a pastry-lover would be bothered for sure. the service was a little spotty, it took a while to get our food (i think they forgot, because we had to follow up a couple of times), and they also were out of gluten free bread today. it was pretty packed for a friday morning, and there's no parking lot so it can be kind of difficult to get here by car if you don't find street parking. so definitely account for that. i love the location though, and the interior is nice, could do with a little bit more space between the seats though because we were having to squeeze by other customers at the tables next to us to get by. i'd come back for the matchas for sure, but maybe not the food, or to really sit and stick around. it's a little loud inside, maybe not the best spot to get work done when it's busy like this. read more

It was mine and my husbands first time to try this place we knew nothing about how you are supposed to pick up your order girl in the front did ask if we were going to be staying or going and we did advise her we would be staying. They brought out our croissants. I had a chocolate croissant, not very good. It's dark chocolate for dark chocolate lovers but their butter croissant is delicious. My husband got a butter coffee, which is their fall drink. I got the pistachio coffee and they were both not the best because they were sitting up in the front getting watered down, but as we were leaving, the owner of the shop offered to make us our drinks and they make a wonderful strawberry Matcha with cold foam on top maybe not going to that place as a consistent coffee shop, but will love to try it again read more

I am a matcha lover and so I had to search for some when I went to visit my sister. Fair Trade Cafe matcha flights popped up on my Instagram algorithm. Their video looked amazing and I had to get it. I tried looking on their menu online and it doesn't show matcha flights, so I emailed the owner and she was able to let me know they still have them available. Super excited as you can tell. This was really the only thing I had asked my sister to put on my list to do/visit She created the rest of the list. As excited as I was, I was a bit disappointed to be honest. The cafe itself looks incredible. Cute, aesthetic and seems like a great place to cowork. When I received the matcha flights, I was immediately excited because the color of the matcha looked pretty good. A beautiful vibrant earthy green, the sizes were perfect for a flight of 3, too! Im not usually a fan of coconut (normally tastes artificial to me. I only like coconut water or fresh coconut milk/meat) somehow I liked this enough! It ranked 2nd. It wasn't too coconut heavy so it didn't overpower the flavor. The strawberry matcha was decent. I do wish it was a more natural strawberry syrup/puree but it kind of just tasted like strawberry jam put at the bottom and I found it slightly challenging to mix. It was still my favorite of the 3. Okay.. I wish I could say I liked the last one but oh boy.. the banana cream matcha was my absolute least favorite. I've made banana cream matcha at home and that's all I can compare it to, but this tasted odd, artificial and not good to me. Although it was my BIL favorite, so more for him in the end haha yay! I even videoed myself tasting the banana cream and I couldn't hide my reaction overall, I think the drinks are average. They're so beautiful and I really was excited for it, but as a matcha enthusiast, I wasn't as pleased only because I felt the matcha flavor really lacked and was overpowered by all the drinks or was just not present, which is a shame. I'd probably not come here for matcha again, but do love this cafe for what it represents, supports and the environment. If I was a coffee drinker, I'd have to love to try it and give it a chance. read more

Overrated!!! I was not impressed to be honest! To start the lady taking the orders rushed me and was not helpful...they didn't have a seasonal flight so I ordered the regular flight, a matcha, and the tiramisu latte. We didn't like any of these selections in the flight. The Tiramisu latte was too sweet. I ended up ordering another drink and just adding praline syrup to it and preferred it over all the drinks we ordered. The flowers on the table were old in dirty water so I removed the vase from our table and the windows and seal were dirty where we sat...overall cafe was dirty. Very disappointing as I was looking forward to this place and spent over $40 on coffee that was not great. I gave 2 stars because when I went up to reorder another drink the guy who took over over taking orders was super nice... read more

Fair trade cafe might just be my favorite place to get a matcha! In February they had seasonal drinks and raspberry cold foam and I found my new obsession. I got an iced white chocolate matcha with raspberry cold foam and it was so delicious I think about it daily lol. This place does get very busy though fair warning, the first time I came here we waited over 30 minutes for our food to come out and drinks took quite some time too. I tried the breakfast croissant with bacon which was good, but a little too pricey for what it was. They do have a wide variety of food and drinks though if you are looking for a matcha, coffee, smoothie, or sandwich they got it here. Since they are in downtown they have street parking scattered around and you do need to pay for it, they do not have a parking lot. We tried a few of their seasonal drinks during Valentine's Day like the red velvet coffee, which was nothing special just tasted like an iced coffee but the color was pretty. And my friend got a lavender coffee which was nice and refreshing. read more

Such a fun little gem in downtown Phoenix. I was visiting for the long weekend and had to fuel up before I busy Saturday. I've seen some of their social media, including some really fun Valentine specials so I had to stop in for the pink delights. Sadly, they were out of their Valentines concha but I was still able to try a really tasty chai with a strawberry foam on top. It was a really good drink. The day we went they were hosting an event, and it was really fun to engage with the event hosts and hear about their upcoming music festival. Especially exciting because this was a Latina led festival. We were able to find parking a few blocks away. It was a nice short walk. read more
