Tasty mediterranean spot right across the street from Jonny's Italian Ice. Some cons are that it's expensive for the portion size (around $22 for each of our plates) but the fries were soo good. We did have to wait quite a while for our food, but there was ample seating.

Hugggeeee portions! Very generous with both veggies and meats on their plates. Out of the three plates I tried I'd recommend the Jerusalem mix as it had the most flavor. The falafel pita was also very flavorful and good, definitely some of the best falafel I've tried from around here. I love all their sauces as well. We came on a Tuesday night and it was absolutely packed! Took a total of about 45 minutes to order and get all of our food. It's outdoor seating; very casual vibes. You grab your food when they call you.

This place was super packed on a Saturday evening. The food really worth the hype. If you are looking for just enough calories with lots of protein, this place has it. The shawarma in a pita (8/10) was very filling with good amount of meat inside along with fries. The classic hummus plate (7/10) was really good as well but I wish they threw in few falafels with it instead of just a large portion of hummus. Overall not at all disappointed. Will definitely come back for such kinda quick bites that's tasty and kinda healthy

Came here with some friends after our foodie adventure, not thinking we could eat anymore we ended still ordering a plate here. Between the 4 of us we got a half falafel wrap and the kebab plate. First of all I want to say that if you want the vegetarian food there is a separate station for it; that was a little confusing and the person at the cash register didn't tell me so I gave my ticket to the grill section not knowing. It's good on a sense because you know the kitchen isn't mixing meat and veggies for the vegetarian people. The kebab plate was very good and flavorful! There was 4-5 different veggies they added to the dish and a super creamy hummus, which I'll never complain about. The meat seemed like regular good quality hamburger that was thrown on the grill. The star of the dish was the pita bread strangely it was super soft, moist and very chewy 4/5* The half falafel seemed a little underwhelming to me; the falafels were made fresh by the lady, but she gave me 3 small falafels maybe the size of a half dollar? (How many people know what those look like now?) And a piece of cauliflower. Unfortunately they weren't as crispy as I would have liked and a little more on the soggy side. 3.5/5* The tables of the venue were a little on the sticky side, I don't think it's from someone spilling a drink or food, they're just sticky... If you know you know...

Was leaving the gym and wanted to grab a quick lunch, this place was nearby and I love Mediterranean food so I thought I would give it a try. Ordering and pick up was a quick process. I ordered the Israeli chicken on salad and a few falafel to try. The falafel were fresh and warm inside 10/10. The Israeli chicken was great, flavorful and tender & the salad was good but I think what stole the show was the warm and super soft pita. It left me wishing I got the pita sandwich. Next time I'll order that! The parking lot is small and the lot is shared with a very busy Ice cream shop so like others suggested, I would park down the street and walk

The customer service really stands out here. I ordered the kebab majadara (beef meatball) over a salad, and the meat was sooooo tender and flavorful. It paired surprisingly well with the fresh, crunchy salad and fluffy pita. I just wish it came with some hummus...I ended up stealing some from my boyfriend's shawarma plate. Also ordered one falafel on the side and they ended up giving us one extra since they forgot about it. Small gesture, but appreciated and a reflection of their excellent service.

    Falafel Pita Sandwich
    Da Kat A.

One of the best falafel places in the area. Ordered the falafel pita sandwich. Falafels are crispy and light. The tahini sauce is creamy. The pita sandwich is stuffed with different kinds of regular veggies and picked veggies. While the falafel pita sandwich is great, it gets dry towards the bottom of the pita. They put tahini sauce on the top and they didn't put any sauce towards the bottom. Seating is semi-outdoor area with benches. Food is ready fast and staff are friendly. The ordering area is very small. There are one line to order and two areas to get your food - one area for meat plate and the 2nd area for vegetarian. The ordering line goes thru the meat area and it's hard to tell who's really lining up to order/pay or if they're just waiting around for the meat order to be done. Wish they get the line and ordering proxess more organized. The parking lot is pretty small and is hard to find parking during peak time. I'm not sure if you can park on the street. Best to come during non-peak time and carpool .

I came to try the falafel and got it in a pita, it was so gooddd! my friend got chicken shawarma plate and it came with pita and fries and hummus so we shared the sides. the service is good, the ordering windows are a little confusing but it's a fun outdoor vibe! it shares a parking lot with johnnys italian ice and the parking lot is kinda crazy

DAM this place is good! I would 100% come back, their fries were solid and would come back to try their rice. Their Naan too fresh and it was fluffy while having a nice bite too it. The whole plate is fresh. My friend said the hummus was nothing like he's had before. Service was super great too, the owner let me park in off spot cause of how some drivers were to nicely put it bad at parking. Parking for sure can get very packed. Place was super lively and service was quite fast. They were super friendly with giving recommendations too.

    Tape buried inside my food
    Mai S.

I've been a regular here for a long time because I love the food, but tonight was my final visit. While the male server was friendly, the woman serving me was dismissive, avoided eye contact, and seemed annoyed when I asked for sauce. To make matters worse, she gave me smaller portions than my friends who were served by the male server. However, the dealbreaker was finding a piece of tape buried in my food. I didn't realize it until I was chewing on it and felt the sticky residue. I can overlook mediocre service, but a physical contaminant in my meal is a major health concern. It feels like this place has become so popular that they no longer care about quality control or customer experience.

This is our go-to falafel place for the past decade. Parking has always been a challenge; especially now with Jonny's next door. You order at the first door when you go in and seat yourselves. They have a long menu list with many to tailor to what you want. Second door down is where you can customize your order and pick up. They pack your food to the brim and I always have leftovers. Their meats are all seasoned well and moist.

    Shawarma in In a Pita

Coming back to my favorite childhood shawarma spot after all these years brought back so many memories, and it still tastes the same, even better! The people who work here are genuinely the nicest and always make you feel welcome. Nothing beats their shawarma in pita. We also got the falafel on the side, and it was incredibly fresh and delicious. This place is clean and everything is fresh, even their pita. This place will always have a special place in my heart.

    Chicken shawarma plate
    Raymond M.

I went with the chicken shawarma plate, which comes with rice and a variety of veggies. The chicken shawarma was flavorful and had a nice smoky rotisserie taste and aroma that stood out. The rice was cooked nicely and had a soft texture, while the veggies were fresh and balanced the meal well. Everything came together in a way that felt satisfying without being too heavy. The portion size was generous and well worth the price, which can easily feed two people. The customer service was great, and everyone was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. There was also plenty of parking, which made the trip easy and convenient.

How are the falafel prepared? Meaning are they deep-fried, air fried, etc.?

They are deep fried in from of you - fresh but not oil free

    How is the parking?

Parking now is absolutely terrible. With the opening of the Gelato place in the same lot, there are too many cars at certain times and there is utter confusion as to how should drivers proceed in the parking lot. We are now ex-customers, only…

I have been coming here very long time because the meat is kosher. Last visit when I asked they said it was NOT kosher. And it was never kosher l. So is the meat kosher or not?

The restaurant has never been kosher, you can get a clue to that by the fact that feta cheese is served in the Greek salad and meat is on the menu. A kosher restaurant will display their kosher certification and fully abide by the laws of kashrut.…

Can you accommodate a no onion no garlic food restriction?

    They still add fries. Yuk

Why do they put mayonnaise in their baba ganoush?

+1 It is just gross. I think they are doing it because mayo is cheaper than tahini.

Is there any nutritional information, as I need to be on low sodium, low cholesterol diet? Interested in the falafel balls and pita bread.

Nothing that's available through them but depends on what you get...falafel balls are defi high sodium and are deep fried so I guess not good for a low cholesterol diet. Hummus w veggies would be good but they are very hit or miss with the amount of…

Does anyone know what items on the menu are vegan?

I usually get the falafel salad. Note there are some salad toppings which contain mayo, so be sure to let the person serving you that you don't want mayo. Enjoy!

Do all workers there wear masks and gloves?

    Yes

What is the difference between "on a hummus plate" and "on a plate with hummus"?

Well, "on a hummus plate" usually means hummus is the featured food and "on a plate with hummus" usually means it's a side.

Is it vegan friendly? or do they fry the falafel balls in the same oil as meat?

This is vegan friendly We have vegetarian section

Do they take orders over the phone for pick up?

Yes. People do call in orders for pick up.

What oil do they use for cooking?

This is an important question that should be answered on every menu. Very important for health

The best of the bunch was the dahi batata puri, but it still didn't quite hit the spot. It was definitely on the sweeter side and I felt like the dahi/yogurt wasn't as creamy as I prefer. The chinese bhel was okay, but didn't have much flavor. Lastly the ragda pattice had so much potential. The flavor was there, but it was insanely spicy- even as someone with a med/high spice tolerance. You could feel the burn traveling down to your stomach. Yesterday, I ordered a Vada Pav, Shalimar Egg Mughlai (on their recommendation from their list of egg dishes), and a Veg Frankie -- and honestly, none of it lived up to the hype(5 stars currently) or price point. Vada Pav: It was okay. The "mirchi" served alongside was literally a raw Thai green chili. Really? At least pan-fry it with some salt and oil to enhance the flavor. For over $10 with taxes, this was already pricier than better Vada Pavs you can get at places like Elco Drive, and yet it offered nothing exceptional. Frankie: This one made me genuinely angry. It was a soggy maida roll stuffed with the same aloo masala from the Vada Pav, plus a few sad shreds of cabbage. That's it. And they had the audacity to charge $12 for it. ($1.50 for cheese, lol I am glad we didn't add)This isn't a Frankie -- it's a lazy repackaged Vada Pav with no flavor or creativity. They threw in some pickled jalapeños on the side, which only added confusion. If you're running a fusion menu(well partially), at least mention it upfront instead of misleading customers. Egg Shalimar Mughlai: At $13, it was passable but still not impressive. The bun on the side was not toasted or anything. Better than the Frankie, but nothing I'd recommend or return for. I was so excited for trying this place but, overall, this place is overpriced, underwhelming, and frankly disappointing. If your Vada Pav and Frankie are practically identical, maybe inform customers before they order both. I wouldn't recommend Maya Kitchen -- save your time, appetite and money and go somewhere else. My family and I, two adults and two young children, came here during Ramadan for iftaar. Before arriving, I specifically called ahead to ask whether we needed to come early because I understood restaurants can become very busy during iftaar time. I was told that arriving 10 to 15 minutes before iftaar would be perfectly fine and that our food would be ready around the time of breaking fast. Based on that reassurance, we came about 20 minutes before iftaar expecting a smooth experience. Instead, the moment we walked in, it felt like we were invisible. The restaurant was crowded but not chaotic. We sat down and waited while servers walked past us repeatedly without acknowledging us. Eventually, I had to flag someone down myself just to place an order. I even asked directly how long the food would take because we were fasting all day and had two small children with us. The server confidently assured us the food would arrive around iftaar time. That never happened. When iftaar finally arrived, all we received were dates and water. No appetizers, no main dishes, nothing. We continued waiting while table after table around us received their food. Meanwhile, our children became increasingly upset and hungry. Anyone with young kids knows that after a full day of fasting, asking them to wait another 20, 30, even 50 minutes is nearly impossible. Our kids were crying, exhausted, and confused as they watched other families eat while we sat there with empty plates. What made the situation worse was the complete lack of honesty and accountability. Every time we asked about our order, we were told, "It's coming soon." Then eventually the server disappeared entirely for nearly 20 minutes and avoided us altogether. A woman later approached us, but instead of apologizing or taking our concerns seriously, she became dismissive and defensive. By this point, nearly 50 minutes had passed since we ordered, and she still insisted we "shouldn't complain" (in Farsi) because the food would come "soon." That response was honestly more upsetting than the delay itself. A simple apology, honesty, or basic compassion toward a fasting family with small children would have gone a long way. We eventually left the restaurant feeling humiliated, disrespected, and deeply disappointed. What saddened me most is that this happened during Ramadan, a month centered around patience, generosity, hospitality, and good character. In Afghan culture and Islamic ethics, guests are supposed to be treated with dignity and care, especially during iftaar. Halal is not only about the food being permissible. Halal is also about honesty, fairness, respect, and how people are treated. Sadly, this restaurant failed in all of those areas. We will never return, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for respectful service or a welcoming family environment.
