Falafel Stop is a cute local joint right on Fremont Road right next to Fremont High School in Sunnyvale. Falafel Stop is an open air and fast food type restaraunt that serves quality food. I got the Israeli salad, some falafels, and a Jerusalem chicken hummus bowl. The food was amazingly fresh and it did not disappoint. The hummus bowl was amazing as the hummus and all the veggies complemented each other perfectly with the creamy hummus and the slightly acidic pickles and tomatoes. The chicken itself was jaw droppingly tender and it was seasoned perfectly. If you don't want Jerusalem chicken they have plenty of meat options. The falafels were a great vegetarian alternative that were almost as good as the chicken. They were crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. Also keep in mind that most main dishes come with pita. Lastly the Israeli salad was somewhat disappointing. It had WAY too many onions and the dressings while refreshing didn't bode well with me or my stomach. I usually order the 1/2 falafel pita from the veg side and my partner usually orders the shawarma plate from the non-veg side. There is one line to order, and then you take your ticket to the respective side(s) where your orders will come out. I've noticed the veg side is usually much quicker than the non-veg mainly because they cook / grill the meat fresh for you, which takes a bit longer, versus the veg side which has most prepped ingredients that they put together once you give them your ticket. After hearing lots of rave reviews about Falafel Stop, I finally visited a few days back and found it just alright for the most part... This is a fast casual place so you order inside the middle door and then you take your receipt to either the vegetarian window or the non-vegetarian window to get your food. There is covered seating outdoors though I'm not sure if the heat lamps were on because it was a bit chilly. I got the sabich pita because I will absolutely order sabich whenever I see that it's offered! My pita sandwich was quite good and I appreciate that the cooks stuff everything nicely so I didn't have any trouble with the filling falling out or the pita coming apart. I chose the mild sauce but wish I would have gone with the hot sauce for a bit more flavor / kick. My partner got the shawarma plate with fries, and it was a huge amount of food. The shawarma was tasty but our biggest gripe was that everything turned into a watery and soggy mess (even the fries). I'm glad we ate our food there instead of taking it home with us because otherwise everything would have already been soggy when we started eating. I've tried the chicken shawarma plate, pita, and falafel from Falafel Stop. The pita and falafel are definite standouts, and I thought the chicken shawarma was good although the chicken was room temp and not hot when I ate it (as soon as I picked it up from the counter). This meal caught me by surprise because they stacked the plate with so much food and it was healthy. Their portions can feed two people, maybe 1.5 if you're a huge eater. Everything I've tried there has been solid. The pita bread is nice, warm and fluffy. Their falafels are crispy and tasty. The hummus plates are my favorite - beware though, you will get ridiculous amounts of hummus. The Jeruselem mix and shawarma are my go to dishes. I'm sure the other items are great, but I just haven't strayed from my favorites. My only "complaint" is that I wish they had lamb. That would make Falafel Stop absolutely perfect.
