I've been living off of Blue Diamond for the past 3 years and never thought to try this restaurant. Famous Dave's exceeded my expectations. The Spare Ribs were falling off of the bone literally. They were sauced perfectly and very tender. The Wilbur beans were delicious and the perfect amount of sweet and spicy. The cornbread muffin was my favorite. It reminded me of back home. Lastly, I had the mac & cheese & it was just "ok". The rib meals are priced reasonably. $22 for 4 and 26 for 6. Which they still give you maybe 1 extra. The meal comes with 2 sides and a cornbread muffin. I also noticed on the menu there's lunch specials for $15-$16. Daily specials like on Mondays $8 Cheeseburger or Pulled pork sandwiches & fries. Or AYCE burnt ends on Thursday for $15. They also have happy hour starting at 2pm with $6 cocktails. Be sure to bring a jacket because it is pretty cold in the dining area. The service was okay. There was only one waitress working. She was the hostess, the bartender, and our waitress. With 7/8 tables, it was pretty hard for her to get back to us for refills, napkins, to-go containers, and even our check. Which of course that's not her fault... Regardless of that, I will be returning. I think it's a great establishment. read more

Great for HH. M-F 2-6, can't beat it!!! Old lady heard about their catfish but when she went last week it was gone. We double checked the hours and went around 5:30. It's the holidays so things are hit and miss. Thankfully we caught them at a slow time. Justin was training Katie and he was very kind and customer oriented. Our food came out in 8 mins!!! We did catfish, cheese curds and buffalo wings. The fish was seasoned really well. Lowkey Cajun. Just the right amount - I'm not a Cajun fan. The remoulade it's served with was also very tasty. I brought my own hot sauce bc there's some things I don't play about. The remoulade was a pleasant surprise and I found myself using it more than I anticipated. The curds were my favorite! I occasionally get them at b dubs and this blew theirs out of the water. I think it's the batter. The wings were solid. Not super buffalo-y but they're a solid wing. I'd try rich & sassy next. You truly can't beat it for $7.50! Mocktails weren't on HH but they're $5 so that's fine by me. We did the strawberry limeade and black cherry fizz. The ginger was a bit much for old lady but I found them both enjoyable. We got another order of fish. It was that good. Ok, fellow Yelpers, go ahead and roast me (no pun intended) for this, but this was only my second time trying out Famous Dave's. Kyle wanted BBQ and I suggested this place to him. There are two separate entrances here - one for takeout and one for dine in. We chose takeout and ordered through DoorDash. It was difficult to choose just one food item because they all looked so delicious, but I decided on the BBQ pulled chicken sandwich with pickles inside and jalapeño mac and cheese on the side. Kyle ordered the Devil's Spit Burger with potato fries on the side. In addition, he also ordered two small muffins (one each for the both of us). It did take a while for our order to be ready, which took about 5-10 minutes, but it was totally worth the wait. The BBQ pulled chicken sandwich was excellent and both the BBQ and cheese made it extra flavorful. The jalapeño mac and cheese was a little on the spicy side, with the spice bursting in my mouth with every bite, but it was still very good. Kyle said that the Devil's Spit Burger was excellent. I had to put it together a bit to get a good picture of it lol. If you know that feel when you haven't had anything sweet or sugary in such a long time, you will understand my reaction to their muffins. I tried one of them and it was WAY too sweet for my taste. It tasted like it was packed with sugar. Like, the main ingredient inside was sugar. I only took one bite before immediately telling Kyle, this is insanely sweet, go ahead and have mine. It's been a little while since my BF and I have been here and we enjoyed our dinner. We went on a Thursday early evening and the place wasn't too crowded, although we waited to be seated for a good 7-8 minutes with no hostess. Finally a server came by and then we opted to sit in the bar area, at a table. Christine, our server was great. We have had her as a server before and she's always friendly and attentive. We like sitting in the bar area, especially if there is a game we want to watch on since they have TV's. It's never too busy when we have sat there. My BF had the St. Louis Rib + Meat Combo. He had the Beef Brisket with Mashed Potatoes and Beans. He said his food was great. I had the Cedar Plank Salmon which I liked. The portion of salmon seemed on the smaller side but it was perfect for my hunger level. I got it with Broccoli and Mashed Potatoes which were also good. Our server, Lori, was exceptional. She was busy yet we had our food order taken and delivered to our table in less than 10 minutes, probably 5 minutes or less. We had the feast for-2. Lori mentioned it was our day, Tuesday it's $40 not $50. Brisket was terrific, BBQ chicken and ribs over the top in goodness. That corn muffin was delicious! Soft, moist, flavorful! This was where we used to take people on the way home when they came to visit, I now remember why we haven't been back in years. This was inedible..$150 for 2 people and nothing but fat, just fat..wouldn't even give it to my dog. This was absolutely horrible, there wasn't anything good in the entire meal. First time visiting this location on Blue Diamond. The restaurant looked bigger inside than I thought. I appreciate the location counter for pick up orders. Made things go smoothly. I arrived earlier than my said pick up time & you were able to accommodate me & fast too... Nice sized bar too! Since arriving earlier than expected, we ended up dining here. Ordered the Famous Feast. The Famous Feast for 2, was perfect for the 3 of us. Tasted good & good portion too. The chicken had some flavor & juicy, not dry. St. Louis Style Spare Ribs were good & the Brisket was good too... We liked the Famous Fries, Wilbur Beans & the Corn. Would definitely get those sides again. Loretta was our server this evening. I ordered a half-rack rib plate with Mac and cheese; the Mac had corn and something spicy ( I guess Jalapeno) mixed in. I also had mashed potatoes, cornbread, bread pudding cake, and vanilla ice cream for dessert. The highlight of my meal was the ribs and cornbread. I expected the ribs to be bigger as they were skinny. However, they were tender and juicy! The cornbread was official, sweet, and tasty, too! Everything else I ordered was okay; I ate everything, but I wouldn't have missed anything if I had only ribs and cornbread. I highly recommend preordering your meal because I ordered at the register, and it took a while to get my food. The cost of my food came out to slightly over 34.00. I liked the ribs enough to return, and if I ordered sides, I would have to try all new sides and dessert because the ribs and cornbread were the only standouts. read more

Best Service I've Ever Had at Famous Dave's - All Thanks to Loretta S.! I've been coming to this Famous Dave's BBQ location for years -- seriously, I've probably been here hundreds of times. Usually, I sit at the bar, but the only downside has always been that there's not a full-time bartender consistently stationed there. So even though I'm technically "sitting at the bar," I'm often there solo, with limited interaction. Today, I decided to switch things up and sit in the dining area... and wow, I'm so glad I did. That's when I had the pleasure of meeting Loretta S., and let me tell you -- she is an absolute gem. Loretta was unbelievably warm, friendly, and attentive. She immediately made me feel at home with her energy. You know when someone just lights up a room without even trying? That's her. She made my visit not just a meal, but an experience. I was originally going to order one of the lunch specials, but during our casual conversation, I mentioned that I had work the next day. Loretta thoughtfully suggested going with a regular dinner entrée instead -- just a few dollars more -- because it would leave me with leftovers for tomorrow. Honestly, it was such a simple, kind, and smart suggestion. Sure, it could be considered an upsell, but it wasn't pushy at all -- it was practical, helpful, and exactly what I didn't know I needed. And now I have delicious BBQ waiting for me at lunch tomorrow. Win-win. She gave fantastic service throughout the meal, checked in just the right amount, and brought this calm, happy energy that made my day better. The food is consistently good here -- that's why I've kept coming back -- but this was the first time I felt compelled to leave a review. That's how great Loretta is. Famous Dave's used to be one of my favorite spots, but not anymore. The quality has really gone downhill--especially with to-go orders, where the meat is often fatty and not what you'd expect. Even dining in, the portions can be disappointing. You also have to double-check your order because it's not always correct. On top of that, everything is priced à la carte, and a single meal can run around $27, which feels overpriced for what you get. Overall, it's just not worth it to me anymore. read more

The coleslaw, beans, corn on the cob, potatoes and cornbread muffins were all perfect, the chicken was excellent, the ribs were really good, and the pork was tasty. Our party also ordered the Ultimate Burger, which was ridiculously huge and very delicious. Violet provided us good service. Some football games we're on their TVs as it was a late Sunday afternoon. First time here with my wife and daughter. Wife Ordered salad, my daughter a kid Mac and cheese and myself the 2 meat + drink. Only going to speak about the manager here (I think his name is Troy). I chewed on a burnt end and a piece of metal came out of it (not a hair, not a plastic, and NOT A FOIL). It was hard and sharp metal, and I'm lucky I didn't swallow this. Picture does not do it justice. I'm the first to admit if it was a foil, but it was not. I hate making a scene so I asked my server if I can speak to the manager. Server is an angel so didn't want to bother her nor is this her problem. Manager comes and says he thinks it's a foil. I told him it's not a foil, it doesn't even bend!!! Try it? It's literally a piece of scrap metal. I told him to look at his kitchen so it won't hurt any other customers. But one thing I know, it's NOT A foil. He takes the piece of metal and comes back and says he hears what I'm saying but he explains why it's likely a foil. What an ignorant stubborn manager. I told him try to bend it if he thinks it's a foil? Of course he doesn't because we both know it's not a foil. Besides the fact, how about a sorry and believing the customer, being on our side, and acknowledging the mistake? He ended up comping my meal only ($25), not the drink, not my wife's salad, or my kids Kraft Mac and cheese. As soon as I discovered this piece of METAL, my kid and my wife stopped eating their food. We left without finishing the food but why was my food only comped? What makes it worse is that when he said he will comp my meal, he made a side comment saying "it's a good thing I didn't order other sides so it's not too expensive..." wrong time to joke around when I'm trying to express how serious this could have been. It's not about $$$ it's about the attitude. If I were the manager, I would first apologize, understand where the customer is coming from, assess the situation and acknowledge the mistake...saying something like "I'm truly sorry and we are glad your entire family is safe. This should never happen and we hope you give us another shot and this entire meal for your family is waived." Rather than disagree with me about whether it's a foil, and comping my meal only and making a comment that he's glad I didn't order too much I will not be back. Got take out from here this week, not impressed at all. Got the brisket which well as you can see by the pics was not but just slices of fat with maybe 10/ meat on the ends. Totally not brisket by any means. The corn bread ok , the jalapeño Mac n cheese not too bad had a kick to it, the potato salad great, but the main course sucked. $21 for something I couldn't eat at all and had to give to the dogs who were very happy to get it. We ordered the pulled chicken barbecue sandwich. The barbecue sauces are on the table so you can choose which one to use on your food. I used a combination of a rich and sassy and sweet and zesty BBQ sauces. The sandwich was delicious, and the fries are cut thick and fried to perfection! I loved them! This was my first time here. Our food came out quickly, our waitress was awesome. Before we left, I had to use the restroom. The stench that was coming up from the floor drain caused me to gag, & I almost tossed my dinner! I informed the manager on duty, & I understand that this is an ongoing problem that the building's owner will not address. Their employees have even complained about it, but because the building is old, this is a plumbing issue. How sad to have a restaurant with good food, nice decor, but a bathroom like an old outhouse! They have been dealing with this at this location for a long time now, and it would require some extensive plumbing to fix the issue. I told them that pouring bleach and hot water down the drain would help, and I guess they do that sometimes. It's just that something else needs to be done and the owner is too cheap to do it! I hope he or she reads this and takes some action! From what I hear the employees have voiced this concern multiple times and it falls on deaf ears. Shame on the owner, not the employees! Let me start by saying when we arrived the placed was dead. Came here to celebrate my daughter's birthday and was overall disappointed- not by the food but by the service and morale of the staff. We were ignored when we walked in and I almost walked out. It appeared we were bothering the staff by our presence. After we were finally seated The waitress eventually came to our table and said she thought she would be our server and asked if the other person got us started. The answer was no so she helped us. The main dish- feast for 2- was pretty decent. The corn was obviously the frozen kind but the food was decent. Took 20 minutes to receive our beer and margarita. I told the server we were celebrating a birthday and she couldn't care less. Took FOREVER to get our bill and pay. I won't be back simply based on the staff morale. Food is always delicious!!! Tonight we had the cheese curds, Cedar Salmon & the 2 meat combo. We lived the cheese curds--- just the right amount for 2-3 people as an appetizer. It won't fill you up to the point you are too full for your entree. My favorite is the Cedar Salmon. The sauce they grill it with makes this dish! My husband said the brisket & Rib tips were tender and juicy! He initially thought he would need to order more but the portion was just right. Kelly was an excellent server! Best service we've had at this restaurant. Our drinks were filled in a timely manner, she was friendly, gave us great recommendations and took great care of us. I am such a barbecue snob so I'm very picky when it comes to barbecue places, but I thoroughly enjoy eating at famous Dave's. I mostly like to get takeout because I like eating in the comfort of my home especially with such a messy meal. But even eating there is a good experience because it's a great ambience and really good service. My favorite thing to order is the catfish. I also really like the sliced beef and the burn ends. I'm also known for getting a hot link and a cheese sausage on the side. The macaroni and cheese is so delicious. The corn is also a really good side. I'm not a fan of coleslaw, but my mother and sister are and they said it was delicious. I also really like the baked beans and the chili soup. I recently just tried the fried pickles yesterday and they did not disappoint. The barbecue chicken and ribs are definitely great as well., but there's so many good things on the menu that I try to mix it up. Definitely make sure you get the cornbread because you'll regret it if you don't. I go here at least once a month to dine in or take out, and I love that tradition. read more
