This location has been around for forever and I've never been here until now! This is a smaller location, you can order takeout or dine in, you order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. Again smaller, maybe 10 or less tables. The menu is just as big as other locations + they have the bakers square pies for dessert. We decided to dine in, I got the bbq pulled chicken sandwich w/ fries and my mom got ribs. The food came out fairly fast and it was good. All the different bbq sauces are available on the tables as well as paper towels. Staff were nice, pretty busy but restaurant seemed decently clean. A solid 4! I love the fact that corn on the cob is served vs. loose corn. That solo factor bumps them up over the other ribs-serving joints out here. The beans, ribs, corn bread, corn and mash potatoes were all really good. See photos for reference. I wished the fried pickles had a better coating. One bite and all of the breading comes off. Sauce was great though. I took a star off because I would've preferred a sit down service style of operation. Famous Dave's has some of the best burgers. Stopped by here for lunch. Super friendly staff, clean place. It has a unique decor with old school ads and wood paneling. Kind of a rustic aesthetic. I ordered the burnt end appetizer with a bun. They don't have their burnt end sandwich and the lady was like order the appetizer with a bun and make your own sandwich. Which is exactly what i did. My wife ordered their burger since she really likes them and thinks it's one of the best burgers. The food came out hot. It's tasty. They have a bunch of bbq sauces and some of the best pickles. hot and sweet. Love their DEvil's Spit sauce that has a good amount of heat but is not overpowering. Ended the lunch with their bread pudding which is plenty for two people to share.Came with ice cream, whipped cream and nuts and drenched in sauce. Delicious. Food products have changed. I came in for lunch for the 3 meat combo, two of the meats were rib tips and one chicken. Rib tips didn't taste the same, tasted old. Learned some of the meat products have changed. Asked for a refund and was deducted $5 for eating the chicken. I offered to pay for the chicken but not for $5 but can see where the concept was. Tbh, the chicken tasted slightly burnt. Should have stoped eating and returned everything. I came here for lunch just to get the rib tips and got the chicken for a healthier food choice as my third choice. Based on this I may not return but will not return for a while to all Famous Dave's until I verify product/food continuity at various location. Another good experience - a solid 4 stars. I've never had a negative experience at any Famous Dave's location, and the Plymouth location didn't disappoint me. I know they're a corporate chain...and I know Dave parted ways with them a long time ago...but I also know I'll get consistently good food & service. LOW CARB: I met a friend for a business lunch. He isn't carnivore but he is Low Carb "Keto" and an endurance athlete (Tough Mudder, Sparton Race, etc.). He grabbed a simple beef brisket sandwich with thick cut fries & water. Since I'm a Zero Carbohydrate "Carnivore" dude, I got a pound of jalapeno hot links, a pound of beef brisket, a pound of chopped pork with some water. I haven't sat down at Famous Dave's in years, just a very occasional take out order here and there, until the other day. A group of 7 of us went to celebrate a birthday and were quickly seated at a table and greeted by our server. Our food all arrived in a timely matter and was served hot. Everyone loved their entrees! The dinner option to choose between 1-3 meat options is a great value. I also suggest splitting the sampler app with the table. Overall service was good and food was impressive. read more

I'm skeptical to review chain Restaurants but one that calls itself famous deserves a review when the only thing it's famous for in my mind is mediocre, lukewarm food priced high relative to what you get. Oh where to start, they have the saddest "boneless wings" I've ever seen in my life. Take scraps of chicken breast and that's what their wings are. The cheese sausage isn't one that I'd try to get a second sample at Costco. The biggest sin in my book is how everything was lukewarm. Now I'm not saying everything should be piping hot but some semblance of warmth above 125 degrees seems reasonable for their collards, beans, and meats. I won't be surprised to hear the health department shutting them down for improper holding temps. If you have tastebuds, I would stay clear...because there's nothing famous about Dave. Cornbread muffin was good, other than that the food was terrible. Ordered the Pork Sandwhich- every bite included a mouthful of fat. Very little meat, EXCEPT on the outside where you can see it. Pull the bun apart and the inside consisted primarily of globs of fat. Ordered the Pick 3 and got the chicken. I literally choked on the chicken from it being so dry. Luckily I had water nearby. This isn't the Famous Dave's of times past with quality food. I was excited to see it and visit, since it's been decades from my last visit. I should have left my fond memories where they were- IN THE PAST. The food quality has drastically been reduced. Not sure why the decrease in quality didn't take the prices with it. This is the tasty part of a holiday tradition for me. Good thing the food is consistently good or the holidays might suck. For the last 4 years, the day after thanksgiving (Friday) my wife and daughter and I venture out in the evening for the seasonal Christmas tree hunt. We have been going to the same tree lot on Hwy 55 for over 10 years now (that will be another review). For the last four years now, after the tree is secured we cross the highway to this little Famous Daves that has been on highway 55, right at the south end of Medicine Lake, for as long as I can remember. Unlike most of the suburban chains this is a small little place that seats about 40 and is really more of a "pick-up" place, for food not people. As far as chains go and ribs for that matter Famous Daves is a pleasant surprise. This is MN and a long way from the famous rib joints of the south and central states. The ribs are consistent here though and they have very good sauces and sides. They have carried these items through the chain concept very well, better than most. Where I love the Uptown location and the Sunday Brunch (which you must try if you haven't already) this smaller location on 55 is great. The small eating area and overall decor really give you the local vibe, doesn't feel like a burban chain. This trip I strayed from the usual and tried the meat combo with the baby back ribs and chicken wings. I have never tried the wings before and these things ROCKED! The wings were grilled (duhh) and the sauce was fantastic. Along with that was a fantastic (pay attention Buffalo Wild Wings) blue cheese sauce. Home made with some tasty herbs added made this a home run. Love the corn bread muffin and mac-and-cheese as well. A year from now I'll update this. Had an especially bad experience (food and service) at the Uptown location a few months back, so wasn't really going to ever go again. But I received an incentive back.....and it worked. This location is what I remember FD's being all about. My group of 6 all loved their food. We all got Combo dinners, so I think we tried all meats between us. Everyone was thrilled with their food. My baby-backs were nothing short of spectacular. Coleslaw yummy and fries were crispy and perfectly golden brown. The staff was attentive, both at the counter and on the floor. Friendly and helpful. Just missing a star for not having table service. But if the system works for them, go for it I suppose. It's been a while since I've been in to any Famous Daves, let alone this location. Used to get a lot of take out from here until one night when everything from this location was awful, either way too salty, gristley or just plain inedible. For this review I will compare this visit to the better days, when I really enjoyed Daves food. This is a lunch review, I got the chopped pork sandwich with a side (baked beans). The meat should have had a velvety feel to it but instead consisted of a lot of fatty parts with the meat. If the pork had been well cooked it would have been able to be pulled instead of chopped, which lead to the pockets of fat. Proper treatment of a pork butt would make all the fat melt into the meat along with the cartilege. Didn't happen here. I also heard someone at the table next to me talk about how fatty their meat was. The bun was nothing to speak of. It had no character, no flavor. The beans were alright but could have benefitted from some more time with some smokey pork. The devils spit sauce had almost no bite to it and has gotten way too sweet. If I choose a sauce that is supposed to be hot, it should be hot. The pickle chips on the plate were decent but nothing about them added to the experience. Dave's had a good product a while ago. Now it is if they are trying to be all things to all people and succeeding at none of it. This isn't the New Jersey Turnpike where Dave's has a location and they need to differentiate their product not try to mainline it. And kill the high fructose corn syrup in the BBQ sauce, it is killing the sauce. read more

I always can count on my neihborhood FD for some quick and tasty grub. Lunch specials go until 5, so I can fill up for under $10 and the reciept comes with a survey that'll earn you a free Kahlua sunday for bothering to take it. SO worth it! (Note: listen to the entire question before answering or they start over). Family time splurges on occassion call for one of their platter deals, which, while they aren't much of a "deal" per se, always satisfy. Service is friendly. Sometimes a little slow when they get slammed, but that's to be expected. Calling ahead eliminates that wee annoyance and their phone number is right on their main sign.....you can call from the parking lot if you're lazy like that (hehe...I'm so guilty). They have some outdoor seating and fairly good AC in the two-sided indoor dining room. Signing up for their club online gets you a couple nice deals. For a fast-food joint I give it a 5, it would get a 4 as anything more. I hope they keep it up, and I'm sure they will....it's been a long time since they took over the old-school DQ (hence the barn shape). Seems to be a common theme here of wait times being significantly long. We were told 10-15 minutes when we ordered, even though there were several people sitting around waiting for food we assumed it would be close to that. The last people to sit in our section were regulars (could tell from the conversation) and had food before people who said they had been waiting 40 minutes. After we waited 45 minutes we asked for an update and they just said it was being worked on. They knew they had an issue before we arrived, gave us bad information when we ordered, then proceeded to not communicate or apologize when customers where getting frustrated. Fed up with the situation we asked to have our order canceled and refunded which the manager did. He finally apologized and gave an excuse but it was too late, that communication should have happened with everyone who was sitting around waiting (10+ orders). Things happen, I get it. Had there been some sense of urgency or even just a "Hey eveyone we are totally swamped and down to 1 cook" the tension in the place would have come way down. read more
