Gotta be honest and say that a different BBQ place was my first choice, but they weren't open for lunch on a Wednesday. Famous Dave's used to be one of my favorite places, but I'm feeling like there have been changes. First, this location switched to the new Quick Que cafeteria style since I had last been there. It was nice, bright and clean with big overhead menus. Lots of choices, although I didn't notice the option for baby back ribs until after I had ordered and saw the table flyer. The folks working were attentive and friendly. It was pretty quiet for lunch time with the only other group being a couple moms with their (kinda loud) kids. As far as food choices: * I had the St. Louis style ribs with coleslaw and brussels sprouts. The ribs weren't as fall-off-the-bone as I would have liked, and one of the ribs was a chewy end piece. Coleslaw was good. I was pretty excited about the brussels sprouts side dish, but they were overly sweet to me, and also a bit chewy. * My grandson had the ginormous double stack ultimate burger that has two cheeseburger patties, chopped pork, bacon, and BBQ sauce and with a side of thick cut fries. That's a lot of food for $11! He said it was okay and wished the fries were a bit more seasoned. Do I still love BBQ? Yes! Would I still pick the other BBQ place first? Also yes. I've never been disappointed by Famous Dave's - 4 stars. As a local chain, Famous Dave's does a great job. I've eaten at lots of fancy boutique BBQ joints. But for my money, I always enjoy FD because of the huge variety, the consistent quality, and reasonable prices. You always know what you're gonna get and you won't pay an arm & a leg for it. For those of you that aren't local, this location had a complete and total re-make a couple of years ago. This used to be a large full-sized, full service, full bar location with a giant parking lot. But they raised the whole thing to the ground and built 3 new places: a bank, a veterinarian, and a smaller Famous Dave's version called "Quick Que". It's Chipotle style now. You order up front and take the food to your table after paying. Obviously, no more full bar. LOW CARB: Famous Dave's is an excellent choice if you happen to be a low carb, Keto, carnivore person. All of the items can be ordered ala carte, including meats by the pound. So you can easily and seamlessly make food choices that match your carnivorous eating style. Nice! St Louis style ribs had good smokey flavor, they were a bit dry. Might try baby backs next time, those tend to be less dry. Cole slaw was creamy and sweet, corn bread delicious. I haven't gone to a famous Dave's in several years because the quality of food got a little worse and a little bit more expensive. The feast for two is a great quality for about three hungry people. The flavor is light and subtle but the meat did taste like it's been under the heat lamp for X number of hours. It just needed to be a lot warmer. We were greeted right away but all these teenagers and young adults that were super kind and understood our order in seconds!! right as we were given our fountain drinks, my dad and I sat down and the food came right to us. two minutes after ordering our food had already been delivered! now we were the only people in the famous days at the time and that made me super nervous, but the food looked amazing and once we started eating it, we didn't stop the food 100/10 as we finished eating families people, everyone started waltzing and having the best time. We always liked the old Famous Dave's at this location and thought we would give it a try. The new Quick Que format is sort of like Chipotle. In reality this place is sad need of management if it is going to survive. We waited 15 minutes in line when there wasn't a line while the person who should have been helping us worked on a large takeout order and the rest of the staff wandered around doing nothing and the girl behind the register stood there as if she had faith that eventually someone would take our order and then prepare so we could eventually make it down to her so she could do her job. Integrity!!! we've had several previous poor experience at other Famous Dave's, and had stopped going all together. We stopped at this, famous Dave's on a whim today, and we're completely impressed by both the service, and the integrity of the staff. When the cashier rang us up, I had told the cashier that I would like two large drinks, I did not specify that we were getting water out of habit. The cashier noticed that we both got water, and promptly issued a cash refund for the drinks that we didn't get. The told us everything we needed to know about this new facility. Disappointing. Like many other reviews, the them is that this just isn't the same Famous Dave's it used to be when it was crave worthy bbq. Now it's like getting bbq at somewhere like Denny's. This review is based on two visits, one shortly after they reopened with their Quick Que approach, and the other just yesterday. The ribs the first time were kind of mushy in texture and not particularly flavorful. This time they were cooked correctly and had a nice pork flavor with good seasoning (I ordered them naked). The corn muffins are still some of the best available. I also had the Texas Brisket which the first time was dry and this time was mushy and had an odd vinegary taste. They also left too much of the fat cap on, with some slices being half fat. The meat was so soft that it was at times difficult to tell it apart from the fat. Baked Beans were good, but lacked the kick they used to have. Same for the Mac and Cheese, which was bland and hard to discern any flavor or kick from the Jalapenos. My wife tried the Brisket French Dip, which she said was ok. Interestingly, the brisket on her sandwich was much leaner that mine. The "au jus" was kind of like a watered down version of their bbq sauce. I liked it; my wife not so much. I didn't get dessert this time, but the first time I ordered the Banana Pudding which was so sweet as to be inedible. And I'm someone who loves sweet. So again, overall disappointing. Since being rebuilt to a fast food atmosphere the service and menu has been reduced, but the prices haven't. We ordered a potato bowl and a three meat dinner. After paying over $40 bucks I realized they hadn't given me our drink cups. I was told that I didn't ask for drinks so they didn't ring them up. The two medium cups were another $6.50. I know good bbq costs, but I felt like I spent almost $50 to eat at McDonald's. And the BBQ is no longer cooked on site. It looks to be cooked somewhere else, then reheated on location. My mom and I had a great lunch here. We were in the area and Panera was packed and Texas Roadhouse wasn't open yet so we'd thought we would give it a try. It was good! We had a two meat lunch combo with a side. I got beef brisket and roasted chicken and she got smoked turkey and beef brisket. We came here on a Saturday evening for dinner aroung 5 pm. We scored a table for 6 immediatly. The seating hostes was very pleasant. Jordan met us immediatly after we were seated and took our drink order. My wife and I split a Founders feast, the other couple ordered a Feast for two and 2 kid's meals. It took 45 minutes to get our food. By that time the kids were getting squirrelly. The food was perfect and of course plenty of it. They had a super hot sauce I liked called Wilbur's revenge. When we first walked in, I observed that there was still plenty of tables, even though it seems that the restaurant has shrunk by half. With probably like 15 or 20 tables for the patrons. Then I turned a corner and walked to the other end of the restaurant for a cafeteria like setup. I had the choice of either a sandwich with fries, or a platter with 2 sides. Wowww something is different about this new reimagined Dave's and it's in the kitchen. The ambiance as I knew it before is gone but the flavor of the food is fantastic! For some reason there's a Smokey flame grill flavor that really pops now that never came through before. I went there at about 6 PM on Wednesday, June 15 with the sole purpose of using up the reward that I had on my account for $10, and a gift card, with the idea that I was never going back. My previous visits have been mediocre at best and terrible at worst. The general manager a month ago, Dusty, was clearly the problem. He has no business being a manager in the restaurant business. Anyway, this time was completely different. He was not there, which was a great start. This time the store was well staffed, people were smiling and friendly, and the food was excellent. I ordered a pound of brisket and a rack of ribs to go with a couple sides. This time I got the full pound of brisket that I paid for, and may be a little extra. The previous time I was shorted, and the manager did not care at all. See the picture attached for the previous visit. This time, both the brisket and the ribs had good smoke flavor and were cooked very well. The cornbread muffins were the best that I've had at any famous Dave's. Very fresh, moist, and warm. I really wish every visit was like this. I'm giving this visit five stars for sure, and taking off one star for previous visits. If last nights visit was any indication, this location is on the right track and I would definitely return.
