Faria Bakery brings the wow back to baked goods. I went to Wednesday downtown farmers market during my lunch hour, and was impressed by the variety of baked goods. Pastries, breads, all of the good stuff! I picked up a few pastries for myself and my coworkers. All of the yums. These aren't your basic danish, these are the French delights, that take amazing flavors and escalate those flavors to a whole new level. I also picked up a loaf of the olive and polenta bread. The lovely women that helped me, said it's the best. It is! I brought it home, and the family just loved it! It's chocked full of olives that taste like magic. We tried it toasted with butter, yum! We tried it as sandwich bread, yum! We tried it by itself, Yum! This is seriously one of those finds that I plan on discovering again and again. Lovely people, and tasty treats! read more

Go early before the sell out. I was too late to devour one of their croissants, so I settled for the key lime pie. It was amazing! It wasn't too tart and the chantilly cream balanced the tart with a delicate sweetness. The inside tables can quickly get filled up but they have some outdoor seating to enjoy on a sunny day. Horrific service. I love the food - pass on the people. I've purchased their food from the Folsom Farmer's market, from their store in Folsom and today I drove from Rocklin to their Oak Park location to purchase bread. We go there at 2 and were spoken to rudely by the staff that they were closed. When I informed her that according to the web, you are open to 3 - I was told I was wrong and was treated if I was stupid. Moving forward, I will find a bakery with better staff that understands how to speak to patrons. Not sure if you can see the screen shot, but I took it before 3 and it shows they are open until 3. It's a great bakery that wants to be a restaurant, but has no space. Their indoor space is very very limited and their outdoor space is dependent on the weather. They are always out of products and service is now reduced to a computer screen. Hours of operation is very limited to 5 hours per day, 5 days per week. I have been to Faria several times. I always plan to get one item, and one item for my husband. However, every time I go, I purchase way more than I intended. My go-to items is the ham croissant, avocado toast, and coffee. During the most recent visit, I additionally purchased a quiche and Mexican sweet bread. Everything always tastes delicious, and you can tell they use high quality ingredients. Every employee from the cashier to the barista are always very nice and helpful in answering questions. If you join their email list, you will receive notifications for upcoming classes and items for sale. The classes are a little pricey, and I am not strong enough in my baking skills to feel like I can "hang" with other class participants. A suggestion for the email promotions would be to add the level of difficulty to the class. It would help the participant gauge their level of comfort to the expectations of the class. read more

Arrived on a Saturday morning around 12pm, line was pretty long, so bring a book, or a friend to chat with to pass the time. It took us probably 30-40ish minutes to get to the front of the line, they were very short staffed, so be patient. We luckily grabbed a table inside after we placed our order, there are also some tables outside the bakery as well. Drink: Drip Coffee - pretty good and definitely a good pairing with the sweeter pastry. Food: Miso Butter Toast - so good, really great thick piece of sourdough miso bread with lots of butter. Warm, savory, and rich, the bread has a great crunchy thick crust with a chewy yet tender center. Pumpkin Pie Treat - a super flakey crisp croissant crust filled with a delicious pumpkin spiced custard, topped with whipped cream, my favorite item of the day, this is super rich and definitely good for sharing, if it's on the menu get one. Roasted Squash Danish - this was really good, savory roasted squash pieces with cheese, and pumpkin seeds, this danish was a great savory option, pastry was also super flakey and delicious Service: Friendly but slow. Overall definitely worth a visit to try the delicious pastries at Faria, loved the seasonal offerings we tried. The flow and service could be optimized, there is a line outside of the entrance and only one party enters at a time to order. I came at around 10AM on a Saturday. The line was out the door, so be ready for a wait! Once we got in the store, the worker was nice and friendly. Our food came out quickly. I absolutely love the pastries. I got the Kouign-amann and canele. Both were delicious, but the Kouign-amann was definitely my favorite. It had a delicious sweet and salty taste incorporated in the flakiest layers. The store was calm and had space to talk for hours. I was a fairly long line but a short wait in all. The inside has very limited seating. The bread was completely delicious. The baguette was still hot to the touch. They come out of the oven daily at 10:30 and will sell out . The croissant was as tasty as any I've had anywhere. In all I t was a tad pricey when it was all said and done but I'm not deterred from going here again and again. It's on par with the best of bakeries in San Francisco and Los Angeles. I've never been to Paris so I can't have that fair comparison. The staff was very helpful; patient and kind explaining well all of our questions. I've been here twice; the pastries are above average but not really worth it for the price. But what really brings this place down is the set up and customer service. When you walk in there are just several tablets to order from, I did not see any staff either time. First time I came in I had cash but there's no cashier, so I guess they don't take cash? The tablet asks if you want to give a 15, 20, or 22 percent tip. I've had zero interaction with staff, I rang myself up, there was no one I could ask questions about their products, and I haven't received any actual goods or services, so what am I actually tipping for and what would I base that on? Also, if you are a person who prefers to or needs to use cash, who has less digital literacy and isn't familiar with tablets, who has any number of vision, cognitive, or mobility disabilities that makes using a tablet unassisted inaccessible to you, then this place is not for you. I've gotten into the habit of going to local coffee shops and bakeries every weekend morning . Last week I woke up a little too late , but still managed to pay this lovely local gem a visit ! Faria bakery is located in the heart of Sacramento's very own historic oak park neighborhood . It's where the hood meets hipster ! They're doing a great job at following social distancing guidelines , and have a limit of two people of the same party inside at a time . Unfortunately because it was almost 3:00 at the time of our arrival , almost everything was gone and their espresso bar closes at 1:00. We were still able to pick up a pain au chocolat and a blue corn chocolate chip cookie . The kind man who served us was so nice and generous . His customer service was out of this world and totally made my day ! The pain au chocolate was so flaky and decadent , and the blue corn chocolate chip cookies? After a recent visit to an outstanding bakery in San Diego, we decided to try and find the best croissants in Sacramento. Our search lead us to Faria. After waiting in line for 10+ minutes, we ordered a butter and a chocolate croissant. Upon receiving our goods to go (after waiting another 10 minutes), we were disappointed with the size and they were not warm, but decided to reserve judgment until tasting. On our way home, we decided to also compare with another popular patisserie. The size, quality and taste of the Faria croissants paled in comparison. I love Faria Bakery! Trying to find your not so ordinary bakery, this is your spot. I believe they use a different type of flour which makes them unique. Not only do they have a store, but they visit a lot of the near by farmers markets. Best believe, they always sell out quick. Recently we decided to go to their store front. Cute spot near mid town.
