    oat milk latte
    Sara L.

Last Monday I set out to explore a cafe and bookstore close by in honor of my Dad's love for both on his birthday. I enjoyed Farley's in San Francisco in its early days so decided on checking out its East Bay location. I was delighted by this location's friendly, easygoing service, and lively atmosphere! Along with a perfect oat milk based latte, I ordered a turkey pesto sandwich. It was delicious and HUGE in proportion. Just the right amount of pesto, tomato, and cheese complimented the turkey on grilled sourdough bread. It also came with a good side salad. I sat at the bar top table by the entrance window and enjoyed a spontaneous conversation with a civil engineer that worked nearby. We heard customers nearby joyfully laughing. I saw what looked like friends catching up across the windowsills. Farley's East truly represents a quintessential Bay Area cafe experience.

Still top notch. Went back and got the thanksgiving panini. It was good. I could have used a side of the cranberry tho. Employees are great. Still love the chai.

Half and half combo of tuna melt panini with chicken Caesar salad and limeade

Nice Uptown Oakland lunch spot on Grand. The half and half combo is a decent deal at $18 with half a panini, half salad, and choice of a drink. The sandwich was good but the bread did kind of fall apart in the middle - the tuna melt probably needs thicker bread. The salad was generous with crispy cheese croutons and a mix of kale and other lettuces. The limeade tasted fresh and was tart. Easy to order with good service. Clean tables and serving areas. Metal utensils are by the pickup area. Laptop usage restricted to upstairs.

    Espresso & Macchiato (oat milk)

I got an espresso and an oat milk macchiato. Both were solid. Espresso: 3.5/5 When I saw they pulled double ristretto shots I knew I was in for a treat. Great layers and a creamy mouthfeel. I tasted citrus, a hint of caramel, and mild acidity. It wasn't burnt, but there was a slight bitterness that held it back a little. Macchiato: 4/5 Well executed. The oat milk complemented the espresso nicely, smoothing out the bitterness while keeping the flavors in tact. Would definitely come back.

Farley's is that neighborhood spot that has a place in my heart. When I was going thru national board certification for teaching, Farley's was the spot I camped out at upstairs to get my work done. Their coffee is great, their service is wonderful and the ambience lends itself to relax with a cup and a friend or focus on work. Thank you Farley's.

Standard five star. My only complaint is the price. Quite close to where I live now so thought I'd check them out. Ample seating, nice staff, short line. I love Starbucks so my bar is always "how do you compare to my regular at Starbucks and a Starbucks grilled cheese" and you'd be surprised most coffee shops don't compare well. Farley passed the test with flying colors. For about 5$ more my coffee tasted that much better and my Sandeitch was really just right. Savory, filling and with a small side salad. Tables were clean with a background of chill alt music. Would recommend and will come back.

I put in an order through DoorDash. Though this restaurant is in Oakland, it was delivered to my Hayward address where I live. The food was fresh with quality ingredients and generous portions . I ordered the turkey harissa sandwich which came with a small green salad. The sandwich was quite large- larger than most places serve anywhere. The majority of restaurants have made what once was large sandwiches quite small for the same price so I appreciate the large size so I can share with family.. The Hearty House salad had generous toppings, and was fresh and delicious The homemade tomato soup was yummy . The mochi, donut and gluten-free muffin were excellent Give this place a try you will be glad you did Bon appétit

I haven't tried the food but I love the matcha here! Service is nice and the ambiance is quiet at times but can get a bit busy during lunch. I'd go here again for a quick cafe break! 7/10

    Extra burnt bagel

I thought I'd give it another try and update my review with more stars, since I don't want to hurt a small business--I like supporting them, and you usually can't go wrong with a simple bagel and cream cheese. But while I was eating it, I realized the bagel was overloaded with cream cheese, spilling out everywhere and making a mess. Then it hit me: they may have filled it that much to cover how extremely burnt the bagel was. ‍

It was closed the last few times I went because of some staffing issues, which I read more in detail about in the news and will sadly prevent me from going back there due to conscience. Before that, I'd been there a handful of times on the weekends when my regular places were closed. The place looks clean, and products appear nice, too, though not the freshest and a bit overpriced. The coffee is average/not bad and has enough seating for several people, though the tables were a little sticky.

Loved my experience at Farley's! I miss the days when Oakland was hustling and bustling and Farley's was just that on a Tuesday afternoon. There were folks grabbing lunch and coffee or meeting people to catch up, like myself. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The service was really friendly. There was a line almost the entire time I visited but didn't feel rushed by any means at ordering. I kept it simple and had an Americano ($4), which was absolutely delicious. The coffee was served hot and tasted very smooth. I sat outside and enjoyed the moments of sunshine between the spurts of rain. Being located at the corner of Grand and Broadway also makes it very central to other restaurants and a short walk away from Lake Merritt. I would definitely come back for lunch and/ or some tasty treats Yummy Certified!

Hello, we do not take reservations but you contact us to make arrangements if you have a large group. Please email info@farleyscoffee.com.

Yes! We have indoor seating on the main floor.

    Are you open on thanksgiving?

    Yes! 8am-11am. Seen you there!

Truly cannot go wrong with some fried bao buns! Chicken Wings: We really enjoyed the chicken wings as well. The fish sauce gives the wings a nice sweetness and makes them quite addicting. Garlic Noodles: The garlic noodles had a nice char flavor to it. We could see them set it on fire from the bar, although we felt that the garlic noodles could have had a bit more salt and garlic in them. The shrimp also tasted frozen but they were still good. Bo Luc Lac: We enjoyed the bo luc lac as well, it was cooked well and quite tender. It was very flavorful to the point it made us wish we had ordered the dirty rice with it. Cocktails: For drinks I asked the bartender what he recommended and offered to make me something. It wasn't off-menu, but he made the Pillow Talks which had gin, calamansi and egg white in it. It had a nice flavor profile and balance and creaminess to the drink. I also ordered the Pandanmonium which is a pandan old fashioned which I really enjoyed. I liked it so much that I brought it home, and my partner said it tasted like refried beans (though he did have them cold). The crusty warm bread was perfect for dipping, and I ended up not being able to finish it. The chai was pretty milky; there was a tea bag and the spices weren't very strong. Then again, I'm used to Indian chais. I would pass on the chai. There was basically no one else there on a Friday afternoon during off-peak hours. As a result, it took a while for them to be able to stop by our table and provide water, take our order, etc. There was quite a long wait between sitting down to ordering to actually receiving our food. By the time we had actually received our food, almost an hour had passed. While we were waiting, a few other servers eventually joined, but service was still pretty bare for us and we never received refills on water or plates to eat off of when we received our food. I understand that staffing and a backup in the kitchen are out of the staff's control, but it would've definitely helped for us to know in advance how long to expect to wait to align our expectations and arrange our plans for the day. Would advise giving customers a quick heads up/warning because that on its own would've made a big difference. As for the actual food, we ordered the mac trio with elote mac, chicken pot pie mac, and kogi short rib mac (for an extra fee). The elote mac was the best and most flavorful, the short rib mac was okay but not amazing or worth the extra money, and the chicken pot pie mac was very bland/flavorless and didn't have much chicken in it. The food didn't feel like it warranted the wait time and because of that I would not return.

This place might have become my favorite fast-casual burger joint in Oakland…read more Since my first review, I've enjoyed their food three more times -- in person once and DoorDash twice. And it's been satisfying and well worth it all three times. I recommend both dining in and delivery. You cannot go wrong with their double burger. The smashed patties are perfectly cooked and seasoned. The supporting elements are quality and executed spot-on each time: the cheese, grilled onions, and mayo. It's a perfect fast casual burger. I also recently tried the Chopped Beef burger and dang it was amazing. The hearty meat and cheese the and buttery bread texture hit hard. This will be another go-to and I recommend it. For sides I've gotten tator tots, regular fries, and season fries. All fantastic and they're generous with the portions. HOWEVER -- you've gotta get the seasoned fries. Addictive and finger-licking amazing. When dining in staff is always friendly. Area's not too busy and you'll always find parking easily down a side street. And price wise it honestly feels like a steal for me given the care and quality and pure satisfaction. Works for me though -- I'm going to keep ordering from this place. Cannot recommend this gem of a burger joint enough. Fantastic seasoning and execution, solid prices, and absolutely satisfying every time.

I ordered the turkey club and it was honestly huge. You can see in the photo how big it is compared to my hand. It was stacked and super satisfying, the kind of sandwich that definitely fills you up. We also shared a deviled egg and some fried zucchini to start, which were great little bites before the main dish. The zucchini was crispy and light, and the deviled egg was simple but really good. I paired everything with a mocha latte that was perfectly balanced and honestly superb. Overall it was a ten out of ten brunch moment. Between the sunny weather, good coffee, and really satisfying food, it was exactly what we were looking for. Definitely one of those spots I would come back to for brunch again.

This was me and my husband's first time at the restaurant and the food here was excellent…read moreeverything was very good and flavorful. I gave it to stars because the service was really bad. Our waitress took very long to even acknowledge us, didn't person herself to be very friendly, and lacked any attentiveness to us as customers. We had to ask other people for things like refills on our drinks, condiments, etc. She didn't ever really try to check to see how things were going after the food was served and we had to ask someone else to pay. Unfortunately considering this experience my husband doesn't want to go back and I hate that for us because the food was really good.
