I've been here a couple of times and I can tell why people love it. Hearty dishes, yummy baked goods, great service, plus the smell when you walk in is just heavenly. On my most recent trip I had the turkey scramble in an attempt to be healthy, BUT it came with a cinnamon roll which was AMAZING. I love love gooey sticky yummy cinnamon rolls and this one seriously suited my tastes. Plus it's huge...big enough for sharing. Which I did. Or at least tried too. I liked my meal but I was surprised the meat was deli turkey, not turkey sausage. I wasn't a big fan of the potatoes, they were very thin but I did enjoy the fruit on the side. My friend got a chicken bacon sandwich and she said it was yummy. It looked really good. She's a picky eater and totally approved - even the ranch was delicious she said. They also have a full bakery and years and years ago I sampled the strawberry wedding cake. It was good. I learned years later that it was my sisters favorite cake so I took a piece home to her. We've tried to find just the perfect slice from a variety of places and she finally found the right one. So shout out for Farmhouse for having the best strawberry wedding cake in Omaha (or at least my sister thinks so!) read more

I had been wanting to go here for a year. We finally did and the service was horrible food was cold I had fish plate and my husband had baked potato and chili. I also purchased muffins which were dry and had no taste. Our waitress we only saw when my husband stopped her. The lady at the front bakery counter was very rude. The Farmhouse Cafe never disappoints. The location is convenient for meeting with people, which I've done for both breakfast and lunch. Their breakfasts are substantial and delicious, whatever you order, but as soon as you walk in you'll know they have a special knack for breakfast breads and rolls. It's almost unfair how delicious the aroma is as you walk to your seats. Dieters and low carb folks beware. For lunch they not only have a great selection of sandwiches and salads, they have excellent daily specials. This time I had the chicken and broccoli quiche with fruit and a muffin. The quiche was how it's supposed to be, light and fluffy while firm, with the right proportion of chicken and broccoli. I suppose it would be a service nightmare, but I wish the fruit had been on a separate plate, as it was a tad warm from being served next to the quiche. Speaking of service, our waitress was great. Went to the farmhouse cafe this morning. It's off S 84th Street connected to Mangelsen's. Now let me start by saying our server Patty could not have been any better. She treated us great! Our drinks and food were very prompt. I'm giving them 3 stars due to a few things. One my chicken fried steak was way over cooked. It was very tough and chewy. The bacon they brought to our table was also mildly burnt. The ham and eggs were cooked perfect!! The farmhouse has very good cinnamon rolls and they have pretty good chili too. I will go back for sure despite the few things that I mentioned above. Got to mention the homemade jelly. It's very tasty. Over all it's a good spot to hit up for breakfast. Can be a bit noisy as it's usually pretty busy at breakfast so there may be a small wait for a table. First time here and we were very impressed!! It was very busy, but we were assured the wait was 25-30 minutes and it was right about that. Our waitress was great! Food came out fast. My husband and I basically try fried cheese everywhere we go. Not only was it delicious, but they gave you 5 HUGE triangles for only $9! We only ate 2 and took 3 home. We also both got a Scramble (hash browns, eggs, cheese, protein, veggies, etc.) and they were so good! Not only do you get fruit with your scramble, but also a ginormous cinnamon roll. I only ate half of my scramble, my husband ate it all, but neither of us had room for the gourmet cinnamon roll. We have lots of leftovers to take home, and for only $35ish! I have always heard that Farmhouse is a pretty good comfort food restaurant. My mother and I stopped by on Friday afternoon for lunch and it was so loud in the restaurant. And it also took a few more minutes than I would like to get a waitress to greet us after we were seated. My mother got one of their Potato scrambles and it was good, not great. You can tell that they use fresh ingredients but that was about it. I think it needed a little salt and pepper. I had the open faced hot beef sandwich. Again, good, not great. I just think it lacked some seasoning. The gravy was a tad bland and the bread was actually a little hard. But the mashed potato's that they used were delicious and the beef was moist and tender. I dig this place. It's a proper cafe. A step up from a joint, yet not so fancy that you sweat being dressed uber-casual. It's good food with good service in a pleasant environment. Just what I want sometimes. That makes it occasionally ideal. My wife and I enjoy breakfast there. Great selection, and they'll allow substitutions. Good sized sandwich and it came with slices of pineapple, watermelon, and cantaloupe. The sandwich was very tasty and the fruit was very good. I was full, but the pecan rolls looked too good not to at least try. Waitress asked if I wanted it warmed up......."yes....thank you". Very sweet. Could not eat it all, but definitely worth a try. Farmhouse Cafe reminds me a lot of a cheaper version of Wheatfields. They offer a lot of baked goods, have the traditional breakfast/brunch/etc stuff, and can cater to larger groups and parties. The prices are better here than at Wheatfields but the quality of food is also a bit worse. We had the chicken fried steak breakfast. I enjoyed the sides of eggs + potatoes but the steak was overcooked and tough. The sausage gravy was fine. Some of the other dishes were hit or miss. As a whole, our meal was completely average- the pesto club looked like something you or I could make from some hyvee deli meats, and the chicken salad had a very sweet strawberry vinaigrette. The pork tenderloin looked like a solid sandwich but I didn't get to try it. Overall, Farmhouse cafe is a decent spot to get some regular food with big groups. They have a big menu and can seat many. I think that if you're looking for slightly better but more expensive, Wheatfields is a better option. If you're going pure diner style, 11 worth Cafe is much much better than Farmhouse Cafe, both in terms of quality and value. If you want non traditional/upscale breakfast, I like Saddle Creek Breakfast club much more. read more

I had a delightful experience here! Our server was great at her job and we felt taken care of. The cinnamon rolls are a MUST, they are gigantic and there is plenty in just one to split between people. I really only enjoy when the frosting is made with cream cheese but this is the one exception, the only thing I would have hoped would be to have the icing melted overtop for a warmer bite. Coffee wasn't anything special, tasted like it had been sitting in the pot and a little burnt but still consumable. The chicken fried steak was slightly squishy but was topped with some amazing gravy that made every bite worth it. The eggs came out perfect but I was very underwhelmed with room temperature Farmhouse Potatoes. This review is solely for their strawberry wedding cake. It was my friend's birthday and she loves the strawberry wedding cake from Wheatfields - as do I! My other friend swears that Farmhouse Cafe's strawberry wedding cake is even better, so we decided to get her cake from here. $31.79 with tax for their smallest size (8"). No problems with the pickup process, but onto the cake: Frosting was light and not too sweet, but there was so much of it on the outside. Cake layers were huge and rather dense - almost like it wasn't freshly made. The layer of cream in between was small in comparison with not much strawberries. Overall it was an okay cake, but I think Wheatfields is better hands down. Moist, airy, perfectly sweet and oh so dreamy...their pre-packaged slices can get pretty soggy, but I still prefer it over Farmhouse Cafe's. If I could rate this on food, it would EASILY be a 5!!! We have the Valentine's Day specials: Chicken Blush Pasta and Garlic Jumbo Shrimp meals. Plus, the coffee was strong and amazing! This is one of the best breakfast/brunch places in Omaha! The aroma of cinnamon rolls hits you smack in the face when you enter into the Farmhouse. Depending on what time you arrive, you may have to wait. But it is a large restaurant, and they are good at getting people in and out. Plus they have benches in the lobby and it is attached to Mangelson's which is great for browsing. This is a terrific place to meet with ladies groups or when family is in town for a reunion. They have a back room. It isn't exactly separate from the rest of the restaurant, but even just the adjoining room is helpful enough to hear the large group conversation. My friend and I came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning right before we continued our road trip back to the east coast (Omaha was our halfway point!). We both agreed that we didn't want to eat breakfast at a fast food place, so we decided to look up what was around us for a good, hearty meal - After all, they say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day! (And we needed as much energy as we could get before driving long hours). Farmhouse Cafe was the closest place to us, so we decided to go check it out. We didn't really have any expectations, we just wanted something that could hold us over for a while. The crowd was what you would expect it to be for a Sunday morning -- busy. We didn't mind waiting because the wait for just two people was fairly short. There's limited seating for waiting in the front, so if you don't have a seat you'd just have to stand there awkwardly. Luckily, there was a Mangelsen's, an arts & crafts store, connected to their waiting area for us to venture in while we waited to be seated. When we finally sat down, that's when things started to go downhill. The waitress who took care of us was silent in the beginning. She placed the menus down with no greeting and walked away. It took her a while to come back and take down our orders, but we figured it was okay since it was a Sunday morning and you could tell that a bunch of churchgoers and local families were there to eat. I decided to get their New York Deli Cheese Omelet, which is basically every deli cheese melted on the omelet and topped off with Hollandaise sauce. The waitress then asked me for what sides I wanted with the omelet, and I chose the sausage patties and the Farm House potatoes. I was not impressed by the food at all. When the omelet arrived, it did not even look appetizing. It literally looked like slop. I decided to just dig in, and it tasted just as bad as it looked! I feel like they cooked the egg first, then put all the cheese and the Hollandaise on it and microwaved it. I don't know how an omelet can be dry, but it was. The cheese was okay, but could do without the feta on there (it didn't complement the other cheeses well). The Hollandaise was a dingy, dark yellow color and tasted weird. A good Hollandaise sauce is supposed to have like a lemon-yellow color with a rich, buttery yet slightly tangy taste. The sausage patties were very oily and the farm house potatoes were half undercooked and half burnt... At the end of it all, the waitress charged me for the sides that were supposed to be included with the omelet. When I kindly asked her about it, her response was curt. She rolled her eyes, and with a condescending attitude she said "Well, I guess I'm just going to have the manager take it off." That makes me feel like she was being dishonest as a waitress because she was tacking on extra charges for something that was supposed to come with the entrée... Overall, this was a horrible experience for me. The food wasn't even good, the service was basically non-existent, and everything about this place just left a bad taste in my mouth (both literally and figuratively). A pleasant staff greeted us early on a Sunday morning. The restaurant was packed and had a small wait. The atmosphere was a pleasant family restaurant and was decorated with bright colorful pictures with red walls to match. The mimosas were delicious. Once everyone ordered ( 6 people) the individuals who ordered cinnamon roles received their food almost instantly. Everyone else had to wait 20 more mins on food. I wish they brought it out at the same time. The chicken fried steak was bland and undesirable but the gravy mad up for it. The monte cristo tasted good but wish it was heated up more to help melt the cheese and the bread to be a bit crispier. The jam served was truly great. The hash browns were not very crispy and more like a mush. Overall, not a bad family sit-down restaurant at a moderate price, but not the best ever. I tend to think of Farmhouse fits into 'the Hickory Park of Omaha' category for me. People rave about it, and tell you things like 'you have to go there'... but that's not something I'd ever tell a visiting friend. The place is always packed for breakfast - but then again so it Village Inn - although I always find something to stuff myself with beyond the point of reason - it leaves me feeling greasy afterwards. Still, Breakfast is the only meal I would go to Farmhouse for. I'd recommend the cinnamon rolls for sharing only unless you're feeling especially glutinous.
