Don't get me wrong, I never mind paying a little more for quality, but with it, I also expect(ed) to have a crust which was fully cooked,and I didn't. Artichoke hearts and tomato juices spoiled what may have been a good thing. Dough seemed quite undercooked , and for a pizza, that's a minus 10. Nom nom nom. What magic they do here with personal'ish sized pizzas, cooked to perfection. Try their featured pizzas the first few times you roll in there because you mainly want a delicious local brew on tap when you realize you are hungry. We enjoy this spot for casual date nights. The food is solid all around and the price is fair for high quality organic dishes. The service is always spot on! I think the seating choices and general ambience leave a bit to be desired, mainly because the primary dining room area doesn't have great sound acoustics so it can get loud. Additionally, the decor is quirky and kitschy but sometimes tacky. The lighting is iffy and as a result the ambience isn't amazing overall. This is my first time trying a locally owned pizzeria in Chico. It was a pick-up for a large, 3-topping pizza. They took the order and the pizza was ready in less than thirty minutes. It was Italian Sausage, cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, and extra sauce. It was a large pizza which was enough to feed a family of three. Even the crust was tasty. It's an okay sized portion, I'd be kinda comfortable splitting it with one other person ... maybe. But it's damn good and topped with jalapenos, bacon, scallions and ranch drizzle. But the pizza! Wow ... I ordered The Pig & The 'Shroom in a personal size. This thing was off the charts!! I could have eaten the regular size, but I really didn't want to be a pig about it. This thing was possibly the most perfectly balanced pizza, flavor-wise. I'm disappointed. I came here because they offer a gluten free crust. I picked it up and when I got home there was no salad dressing for my pile of lettuce salad. The "big" crouton was only crisp on the edges and the texture of the middle could be called, stale? The pizza was not 14" as they claim but 12". I was curious as it looked small in the box. The pizza was okay, but I wouldn't order it again. I got the ranch chick... wished I had pick something else. It wasn't a good first experience. I was so disappointed with Farm Star today. Went in for the first time to celebrate a birthday with family, after it had been highly recommended by friends. There was one other family in the restaurant when we arrived, and they ordered four pizzas that came out within 30 minutes. About 20 minutes after we ordered, a woman ordered a single pizza and she got hers in about 30 minutes as well. Our two pizzas, however, took 1 hour and 20 minutes, and I don't understand why. After an hour I asked the girl at the counter about it, and she just said it would be a "few more minutes". When the pizzas finally came out I asked the server if it was normally this long a wait and she rudely replied they were "slammed with phone orders and it was only the three of them working". The pizza IS nice, but we had to scarf it down too fast to properly enjoy in order to get to a movie on time. It just kind of made the experience crappy, which I absolutely factor in to my thoughts on a restaurant. read more

I hesitate to review this restaurant because it is a local secret for foodies. All of the ingredients are fresh and local. The salads and pizzas are pure curated joy. You can select your own combos, but these folks know what goes together and their in-house creations are combinations I never knew I needed. I got an order of the Mac-n-Cheese through entree express today. I am sorry but it was the WORSE Mac-n- Cheese I have ever had. It was bitter (garlic) and it looked/ tasted like plain noodles with bits of parsley and bread crumbs. If there was cheese, there was barely any. Awful!!! Update:Within a few hours of receiving my yelp review, the manager gave me a phone call to discuss the issue. She was very nice and offered me a refund and hopes that I will give them a try in the future. Which I will so I'm adding a star for good customer service. read more
