Normally you'll see a five star review from me for this location of Farmer Boys. Dear Hubby and enjoy eating at their various restaurants, and Newbury Park is our favorite. The food coming out of the kitchen is still fresh, hot, and well-prepared, which is the most important thing, and still five-star in their category of dining places. However, during our last two visits, despite not being crowded at all (we tend to arrive just before 5 PM after medical appointments in the area), the dining room isn't being kept "sparklingly clean" as I've noted in previous reviews. Am not sure if the manager has changed, but I would like to recommend that they revisit the policy of sending someone around in the dining room to clean the tabletops after guests leave. There are always going to be random crumbs, and possibly sticky areas left after people finish eating. Spraying down and wiping those tabletops keeps up a fresher appearance for the restaurant. I've also noticed that in the bench seating that stray items like straw wrappers have been left behind and not thrown away by either a previous guest, or by an employee. These are small things in the big picture, but if you want to achieve high marks from customers, you pay attention to to those small things. Farmer Boys' motto is "Farm Food Ain't Fast Food". It's also not inexpensive food. Making a meal a combo definitely adds to the price. In these days of higher prices for everything, a saving grace is to have / use their app. We achieve discounts or free food on almost every visit, and that helps us keep coming back. Please keep a better eye on cleaning up tables, and we'll start ringing the customer satisfaction bell again. read more

Based on today's visit. Truthfully, I've not always had the best experience here. But today was great. Friendly employees (usually always though) Zucchini (with ranch, it is the best ranch anywhere) is the go to, must have here. TODAY WAS EXCELLENT. BEST ZUCCHINI I'VE EVER HAD HERE! I bought a side salad (with blue cheese) to go, but it looks yummy. Ingredients are always fresh here. That's a given. Sometimes they struggle on flavor...but today was a good day. Since the garage sale Saturday was slow I decided we should try a new breakfast spot. When we arrived we were surprised because we expected a restaurant but saw that it had a drive thru. We were a little bummed but still went in as we drove a bit to get here. The place was very clean and tidy. I would say it had like a Cracker Barrel Express type look to it. I ordered the hog heaven (bacon, sausage and ham) breakfast burrito and my girlfriend had the French toast. All was pretty decent. Price was a little high but I think I just need to understand that this is the way now. I will return here to give the burgers a shot. Avoid ordering the Pastrami sandwich. It's tough and chewy and 50% fat. If they are unwilling to make a quality item and purchase premium quality pastrami they should remove this item from the menu. It's not worth eating. It was worse than a lousy pastrami sandwich I had at an airport years ago. Just about everything else on the menu is solid and service is very good. read more

I'm so confused by the negative reviews-maybe I'm just lucky? I LOVE their food! To me, it's the highest quality food you can get at a drive thru. One of the rare places where their food fills you up, and looks as good as the pictures. You leave full without feeling gross. For dine in, I really like that they bring your food to you instead of you grabbing it (I always have anxiety about someone else accidentally taking my food). This location is always sparkling clean. No sticky tables. No crumbs on the seats. No ice spilled on the floor by the fountain drinks. No dirty bathrooms. Staff here is friendly, fast, and efficient. I usually get the avocado burger but this time I got the farmers burger and it was great. Their zucchini sticks are HUGE. I like that the breading on them is thin. They fry it just enough to cook the breading, leaving the inside fresh instead of soaked in oil. Their ranch is bomb too. This location is off the beaten path, but not hard to find. Having not been to one before, I would describe it as fast casual with counter service and a spacious dining area. At lunchtime, it was mostly full. I ordered the grilled chicken club sandwich and Cobb salad. The sandwich was nicely grilled, but the ingredients were unevenly distributed and I had to reorganize my sandwich before eating. The chicken was very tender. I hadn't heard of this place before, but if you're looking for something quick and a bit healthier, this is the spot! We ordered a Cobb salad that had all the yummy toppings. The lettuce is not very high quality, but overall it was still a good salad. The grilled chicken sandwich with bacon was yummy. It had too much mayo for our liking. I spent almost $40 here for a crispy chicken sandwich, a breakfast burrito, and one coffee. The chicken sandwich was a joke. I grew up with Farmer Boys in Los Angeles so I didn't grow to appreciate it until I moved to the 805 and they hadn't made their way here yet. I know a lot of people were excited when this location opened and I was eager to retry Farmer Boys to see if it brought back childhood memories. This location is new and looks new! The restaurant is clean and the drive thru is easy to navigate. It's a nice looking fast food chain and the signage made it easy to find. The menu is pretty big with a lot of options to choose from. I typically come through the drive thru and have found the staff to be nice and efficient. No issues. The food is pretty good for fast food. Definitely a 4/5 for higher quality taste and big portions. It is a little costly here for a fast food chain, but again your paying for a better meal and big serving sizes. I think the cost though is what keeps me from coming back regularly because if I'm going to be bad and have fast food, I don't want to overdo it by spending as much as a casual sit down restaurant would cost. I've liked everything I've tried here. The burgers have a good flame grilled taste and the sandwiches are impressive. Also pro tip - the chicken strips are really good too! I'm a sucker for their sauces, bomb ranch and thousand island here. If you're a saucy gal/guy you'll be happy with the condiments for your sides here. The sides are a little "too big" for me, colossal onion rings and jumbo fried zucchini, not a huge fan but many I know like them. I'll stick with a burger or chicken and call it a day. Great menu variety. Decent service. Some of the best burgers around. Pretty good breakfasts and other sandwiches too. We like this place enough to drive here from east Simi. I'm partial to their fried fish platter, they do an excellent job on both fish and fries; everything is hot and crispy. Tried it elsewhere and this location always seems to get it right. Its a great little spot for a late dinner, and it never seems to disappoint. The wife and I are happy with the food and the service, not sure what else I can report other than we are NOT fans of their onion rings, they use some sort of orange stuff on them and the taste is not to my liking, that and my wife seems allergic to them. -- Everybody is different though. read more

I no longer will dine at this establishment. Sometimes the same food preparer is wearing gloves , sometimes he is not . Meanwhile all other preparers wear gloves everytime I am at this establishment. It just makes me wonder what else is the person not following protocol on ? At that point my confidence is low and I don't want to find out the hard way . I am referring specifically to touching the cheese and rolling up the burrito or any other items . I am well aware that someone at the grill or oven wouldn't need to wear gloves . When I resided in Bakersfield, we had several locations, but since moving to Ventura County i have realized how much I miss having Farmer Boys, since the locations are much more scarce out here. I love their burgers! Their burgers are up there on my top burger list. Everything just tastes so fresh!!! Their fries and zucchini fries (which is a must-try) are so crisp! This used to be a great place, but it is 100% garbage now. Used to be the best burger in the area, now it's stale and disgusting. 1/4 star... not even a 1 star place. Cashier could NOT speak English. I am not kidding. I asked for my burgers to be cooked fresh, and she gave me ketchup. I asked her again clearly if they would cook my burgers fresh. At this time, the bag was delivered with the burgers 45 seconds after ordering. She grabbed the bag and asked for sauce. I said again, slowly and loudly "NO, I want my burgers cooked fresh!". She held the bag and nodded, "yes, fresh.". These burgers were clearly not fresh. They weren't. They were stale, obviously sitting for a while. But while the woman still held the bag and waited on ketchup confirmation, I had to yell at her in the most basic English "give me bag". This new comer in the Lowes plaza adds to the fast casual scene in Newbury Park. It's bright and wide open with tables, booths and a drive thru too. You order at the counter and food is brought to you. It's a chain that was started by a college student seeking to fill the food scene gap. He wanted a farm to table place that was delicious and not white table clothes. The menu is pretty straightforward. They serve all day breakfast, burgers and sandwiches, salads and offer delicious shakes. There is a daily happy hour 2-5pm, that includes $4 chili fries and $5 burgers. Everything is cooked to order if modifications are desired. Fountain drinks are available or a cup for water. I had the breakfast burrito with sausage and enjoyed it. It's California priced at $8 with no sides. The staff were all nice, stopping to say hello and offering to take things or refill our drinks.
